You are Eldannen Faradril. Eldannen is your mother-name, and in Sindarin, it roughly means “elf lowtide”. Your mother claimed that it was a name of foresight, which she gave to you at birth. Needless to say, you only thought she had a rather unwise penchant for tragedy.
Though her personality won her no favour, her standing in the court was not low. She knew the art of making lembas, the elven waybread, for her mother had made lembas with the maidens of Melian. And with many of the other elven ladies of the realm, she weaved fine garments for the king, who still dressed in the fashion of the Iathrim rather than the Silvans.
Unfortunately, your father died and she followed him west, too early to teach you these crafts.
As of late, however, you have gone by the name Faradril. As a young child, before your mother departed west, you would follow King Thranduil’s hunting-party on foot, into the woods, bleak and dangerous as they were. And you would often find the trail of a fat game bird, a small hare, or a frightened deer, even faster than the keenest of his mortal hunting hounds. So he gave you that epessë, which means “huntress” in Sindarin, and so you became known to him, amidst the many children of the Silvans.
