I meant the thing about Purple being the Sakkil marine. Mor'Kay being the ghoul is a rather simple explanation, and is supported by the epilogue.

Oh, that... Purple is more likely manipulated or purified by the Sakkil Marine than actually being him. I was kind of just spouting crazy at the time. It's fun to spout crazy and see what sticks.

The simulation operates at 720x speed. 6 months in the simulation passed since we last saw the marine. That's 6 hours. I suppose that's enough time for the Sakkil to get back to the terminal, log in and speak to other Players. However, we DID convince him not to try to kill Hugo, and from the sound of things he was going to run off and tell other Sakkilians about the history lesson we gave him. So I don't think Purple is purified.

...I just realized something. Justice claimed to be corrupted by his Avatar's bloodlust, but... wasn't he possessing Horus before? He was doing the same terrible shit via Horus.

Or is it possible for a Daemon to have an Avatar *and* possess someone else temporarily?
>>
No. 85103 ID: 2fd516

On the other hand it's possible Horus caused the same problem.
I kindof wish I knew how Bob and Steve are avoiding corruption while manifesting.

Bob and Steve don't take over anybody... Well, Steve's going to be taking over the cultist, not sure how he'll avoid being corrupted from that. That's going to be a problem.

Actually, it's only been three months since we were in the Serath, as Daithi found out for us here >>/questarch/575733. However, there's a problem with figuring out how much time has passed out of the world. After Hugo arrived we shifted to the Northlands six months after we were in Amun, then back nine months to the Serath, yet when we checked the player count in the Serath it showed us, the marine admin, and one player in the player lobby. Presumably that player in the lobby was Hugo. So how'd he get there and how'd the marine who was pursuing him show up then? What I think is that time is passing outside relative to only the days we have been experiencing in-world, but still at the same accelerated rate. Since for us only about two days has passed in total since Hugo arrived that means only about four minutes has passed outside the world. Of course I could be wrong or we both could be wrong, so I'm going to make a mental note to ask the marines via admin message just how much time has passed out there next chance I get.

Also, we didn't convince the marine to stop coming after Hugo because here >>/quest/587110 the marine says "Do not worry, I will find the criminal and ensure everything goes back to how it once was" right before logging off. So the marine is still coming after Hugo.

>>85097
The Dark One/Justice hadn't just come to Akena in the few days before she became the Avatar of Justice; He had to have come to her months and months ago, corrupted her and was in turn corrupted by her lust for vengeance. And while Akena was chosen by Justice to be his avatar, she only became the Avatar of Justice when he provided the power for her to be; Before she was only corrupted and did not take additional power. So the Dark One/Justice could still possess the corpse of Horus and project through him the powers we saw him wield, as long as he had the energy to do so.

I think it's that three months was three hours. As the Voice of Many/Origin of Magic, we're temporally displaced in real time, so we're jumping around a bit.

Also, I realized that the "Cheater" is actually probably Hugo, being level 150 and whatnot, but it's a real shame that it hurts us as a result.

Okay, I've been trying to take the criticism calmly and collectively, but it's starting to just sound like straight up complaints, and I'm feeling targeted now. I don't believe that's anybody's intent, but that is how it's starting to feel. Please, rather than just saying you have a problem with something I've already typed up, say what you have a problem with, reword my messages, make it better suited to your ideas. I've always called myself an editor of ideas, and I'd be a hypocrite to go and tell other people not to edit mine; instead, I'd be happy to see people taking my idea and making it more efficient to the community at large.

I hate policing other suggestions, and thus I tend not to read most of what other people post. I also think it's rude to straight up edit other people's posts. I told you what was wrong with your post so that you could correct it, but you seemed to gloss over what I said and focused on the fact that I objected at all.

Well, from what I’ve seen, the thing most people seems to object is that you keep trying to tell everyone you meet everything you know… even people you shouldn’t trust, which accidently is probably a very bad idea. (to tell them, that is.)

Yeah, okay, see, straightforward and to the point. No examples to try and show what I did wrong, flat out saying what it was. Thank you, Kaktus.

...I hope our pawns aren't included in on that.
I am curious though, if there was anything wrong with telling white we were entering a location that might silence us (which, it did), or if it was just that I used the wrong word?
>>

>>85363
Maybe Kaktus didn't send that message because there already was a message sent to White that we might be entering a no-messaging zone back here >>/quest/594245 and it'd be redundant to say again? In fact, I believe Kaktus used your message to White that you wrote here >>/quest/594217 in that update, albeit changing "Forbidden Vault" to "Forbidden Prison."

But looking back at that message and I noticed something about White's reply; It was "Wait, forbidden prison!? That's not supposed to- What am I missing!?" Notice she said "That's not supposed to-" about the "Forbidden Prison" before catching herself? As if she already knew about it and also that it wasn't supposed to be accessible? Might be something to that because the only two sources of rumors as to the Forbidden Prison we've got came from the daemon Justice and Sir Daniel, who's info came from a daemon. So where'd White hear of it, hm?

And as to our pawns not being trustworthy, there's always the possibility that one may turn on us or be turned, but if we're careful in what we say to them and in keeping them safe we shouldn't have a problem. I'm actually more worried about our ally White. If what Purple said about players remaining corrupted in mind even after defeat is true then it's possible she could be an agent of The Deceiver and we wouldn't even know it. Heck, with the mindfuckery The Deceiver is known for she could be and she doesn't even know it.

Considering the double-faced nature of The Moon's window I would honestly not be surprised at all if White is somehow our enemy.

Tokoshoran, you know, you CAN respond to an update AFTER reading it right? You seem to have an urge to respond to every bit of detail in it real-time and it just makes your posts half-full of uninformed reactions. It's frustrating to read. When suggesting could you try to make every part of your post useful in some way?
>>

If it's frustrating to read, then don't... It's as simple as that.
Kaktus, do you want me to post my response to everything that happens as an "After it all happened," or do you appreciate my "As it happens" approach? If the former, I can stop, but if the latter, or just that you don't care either way, I think I'd prefer to keep to how I do it. It has managed to elicit some interesting responses, in my opinion.

Okay, so my memory on some of things may be a bit flawed, but the people of that planet WERE ALIVE. Pride gave them souls before Erin even sliced Wrath in half. They started new life, and would have likely spread from that world. However, it's possible they focused on colonizing that world before they went back to the rest of the universe, and the newly risen species simply have not seen them yet... Which suggests potential for the Precursors to show up. Heh, that would be quite a doozy for Lucius.

It was that you used the word Vault, which would make White freak out a lot more than she did… because reasons.
>Kaktus, do you want me to post my response to everything that happens as an "After it all happened," or do you appreciate my "As it happens" approach?
Well, personally I’ve always found it weird to get questions that are already answered in the update… or statements that only fit the first half of the update etc. But you’re the one writing it, not me, so do whatever you like.
>However, it's possible they focused on colonizing that world before they went back to the rest of the universe, and the newly risen species simply have not seen them yet...
Let’s just say that the colony in transmachina lacks the both infrastructure and necessary knowledge to leave their solar system. That, them being on the other side of the galaxy compared to the new species and that the new species haven’t been traveling the stars for very long will ensure they won’t meet in a very long time.

>Looking back at that message and I noticed something about White's reply…
Yes… yes… let the paranoia consume you! Everyone is an enemy! …I mean… um… clearly she got the best of intentions?

Uh... Okay, now I'm confused about where on the timeline Transmachina and the RUNE series are relative to each other. What Wiz said here >>/questarch/543391 puts the events of Transmachina about a hundred years after Wrath wiped out nearly everyone. Then Lucius said here >>/questarch/587110 that it's been about four thousand years since the collapse. Put those together and I read it as RUNE happening roughly 3900 years after Transmachina, which I'd think is more than enough time for the Transmachina colony to rediscover interstellar space travel tech and spread across the galaxy or at least quite far.

Of course there's plenty of possible explanations for this, ranging from the simple like Wiz was wrong (or lied) about how long it was since Wrath killed everyone and it was actually much longer, to timey-wimey shenanigans around the Transmachina solar system so only a a century passed in it relative to outside, to who knows what else; I'm not going to speculate. I figure the explanation will show up in-quest at some point if it's somehow important to the quest and if not Kaktus will tell us here.

Also, I just remembered that "daemon" is a term for a program that runs as a background process without direct control of a user, so nice use of that term in the quest, Kaktus.

Let’s just say that the Sakkil, Hivers and humans only are about 400-300 years old at the moment. They were created with a fake past to ensure they didn’t realize their origins and started off just as they “invented” the portal gate, which enables them to travel between the stars. Of course, this is all a moot point thanks to bad shit happening at the colony, but I’ll see if I ever get to that.

"Remove those that don’t belong."
Truth is talking about us. We don't belong in the game. We're gonna have to use the dagger on us to leave the game after we settle the crisis, because that's the only way to escape. The dagger won't actually kill us, because that's impossible. It's just a debug dagger, not a weapon capable of destroying an eternal entity. From the perspective of those in the simulated world however, it will appear as if we died.

>Insert Glarg! All school work and no play makes Kaktus go no update!_
I actually like a slower update rate; It means I don't feel nearly as rushed and that I have the time to compose a quality post. So take as much time as you'd like and don't feel you have to half-ass an update just to get one out.

...And then even with all the extra time I waited too long to compose my post and missed the window for this update. Ah, well.

My update schedule will be and always be whenever I feel like it. The last few days though I had a lot of school things so it’s obvious that the quest would take some damage from that. While it wasn’t traced off directly, I have to admit I cheated a bit with it… at least with the bum part (I originally made it just to goof off, but I liked the results so much and it was completed right as ass day were underway so I just had to post it.).Of course, the major factor I actually succeeded drawing it was dumb luck, so I’m probably not going to get something like that again even if I tried.

>Canon reference sheets for major characters could be cool...
Well, I guess I can put together a sprite sheet or something with them... showing them off without arms and stuff. I haven’t really thought about details about their appearances beyond the ones that are visible on the sprites, which aren’t really that many. There’s a reason why people never seem to change clothes, you know…

Also, I’ve been worked a bit on my weird little universe (Different clothes for all the species, different ideologies, different factions etc…) so expect some kind of huge, completely unnecessary info dump about backstory and stuff here soon… even though a lot of the backstory will happen after the whole RUST sage is over so it’s… um… forward story? I guess?

Man, that isn't the right attitude! Strive! Struggle! Suffer for your art! Draw something every day, work out that art muscle. Well, I say this, but if you aren't already doing it, you probably won't.

For the ref sheet it'd be a good idea to at least have a high res portrait of each character. Even if the mantises all look basically the same. The other proportions tend to be subtle differences, though you could note "pudgy", or "atheletic" or that sort of thing for body type descriptions.

I had a post typed up, but after clicking reply, I noticed an interesting post from 2fd516 that made me decide to redact it. Here's what the post was:

>Why do you keep responding to people who can't hear us anymore?
Because I'm a dumb. That, and I worry that I won't get the chance to say it the next time we see the person and leave it out there for somebody else to relay.
>Oh, and let me guess, there’s at least two more alien races coming that we need to deal with, eh?
...Daithi, I swear to god, if that turns out to be some sort of prophecy I'm totally blaming you. No, as far as we know, the Parasitic Goop and Metal Plated Golems won't be coming. We also haven't heard of any other species. Except the Dwarves, but they're just really short humans who got around discrimination by claiming to be a different race.
>“The hunted alien daycare: Leave your lost aliens here for just ten crows a day”…
Oh, by the way, they're on their way to the academy from I don't know where, so it's possible you'll see them passing by, but I doubt they'll hang around for too long. Issaru likes to talk on a bit, though, so don't be afraid to remind him that he should get back to the group before Zulin finds him. (Zulin's the one hunting Issaru)
>That’s not… I mean, wouldn’t I know if I was some kind of demon thingy, right?
Well, The Diligent One wasn't "Finished" being made by the gods, so if he was somehow thrown into the world, he likely wouldn't realize he was a Daemon. It's possible that the Daemons were also initially being made from the same source mortals are, which means that you're still perfectly mortal, just with a teensy bit of "Daemon stench," which could explain why Nickolas smelled the Deceiver on you. That's quite literally the only thing the Gods were stated to have finished: That The Diligent One is the son of The Deceiver.
It does, surprisingly, fit along with my fartfetched crackpot theory that the Benevolent One thought of you as a son. Why do my crackpot theories always gain some ground? I'm going to have to stop voicing them and see if it's simply because I'm giving some force the ideas, or if I happen to be able to read into it a bit.
>wait, you’re trying to get me more paranoid, aren’t you!?
Did you notice how defensive you got, and just how strong your defense was? Rather than becomming paranoid, you're resisting. This is exactly the kind of response necessary when talking with Daemons. We're going to be giving out some logic and state our conclusions, and see how well you can combat them.
>she even prayed to that goddess the Barbarians out in the untamed lands worships.
...Fuckin' hell, that's where The Benevolent One came from! And that's about the time she came to Amun, too!

Okay, Daithi, something to understand about Daemons: We've told you this before, but it's important to stress it again. They aren't necessarily evil like you would think, but something that can effect them is that they get "Empathy" from the people they corrupt. Empathy is sort of like corruption or purity, but it's from the mortals themselves. Your Mother is quite a do-gooder, a great person, so the Empathy she gives to the Deceiver would result in making her a better, uh, Daemon. Less evil and all that. Which is sort of what happened, even.
AUGH WHY AM I EXPLAINING CRACKPOT THEORIES AGAIN?!

I dunno if this is the place to say it, but I feel the need to apologize for not posting in the quest these past two or three weeks nearly as often as I was before. I've been feeling... I dunno. "Blah," I guess. It's like, I think up all these questions and suggestions when I'm away from my computer, but when I sit down I just stare at the empty text box with tired eyes for minutes, the numerous thoughts colliding together into a logjam and nothing gets typed. Then I flip away to look at the tgchan IRC or do something else and nothing gets posted and I end up feeling guilty that my many questions and suggestions and observations go unsaid. And I've got this lingering but growing feeling that 'cause I didn't post and everybody else didn't notice something vital or ask the right questions I thought and horrible things will happen that could have been stopped if I just had the mental energy to post.

Like, right now one of those worries is from what Purple said about how a player can lose their king and it doesn't mean death but being set back to square one. That one combines with the fact Daithi is 100% corrupted by The Diligent One and could be taken by him any moment (if he isn't The Diligent One himself) and I worry that if we screw up and don't do the right things that we'll lose Daithi. I worry 'cause it's possible Kaktus could do that since it wouldn't take us out, just set us back badly. And then I worry more 'cause nobody else has brought it up. And then I worry even more 'cause nobody else has addressed the fact that we, Teal, are 100% corrupted and could be taken at any moment and not taking the precaution of getting our purification kicked up as protection.

Okay, I feel somewhat better after typing all that. Maybe I just needed to write something out to break the mental logjam. Sorry for dumping it here. I hope that's alright.

Ah, dammit, there's so much I haven't said and asked and this Numb thread is almost over. Urgh... Fuck. I'm gonna have to compose a massive sky-scrapin' tower of text to get it all in before the thread ends.

Teal's both 100% Corrupted and 100% Purified. Also, we've been told that becoming 100% Corrupted would cause us to lose the game, but we didn't. We're in a pretty strange situation. As far as I can tell, we've become immune to corruption and purification in exchange for losing all our commands. Considering that we argue a lot over what messages should be sent to whom, I don't think losing messaging is a bad thing. Scans are apparently easily blocked or faked, so that tool has become useless anyway. The only thing I miss having is the status check, because it let us keep tabs on our pawns even when we're not there, and occasionally it gave us some critical information.

As for Daithi, if the 100% Corruption thing was a threat, we'd have been threatened by now. No daemons are making demands so I don't think anything's wrong. I think it's a natural evolution of whatever his inherent daemonic influence is.
>>
No. 86116 ID: 2fdec1

>>86115
Yes, we were 100% purified, but that was checked a bit ago and then only once. Afterwards nobody thought to ask White or Purple to check it again to see if it went down or to keep tabs on it for us. It's entirely possible that our purification level has been falling since Issaru's "divine" acts in the chapel and we haven't lost yet 'cause it hasn't hit 0%.

Also, we didn't ask White or Purple to check whom was corrupting us, which might be possible for them to do since we're at 100% corruption, same as with pawns. For all we know it could be another daemon and not The Diligent One.

And it might be that the reason The Diligent One hasn't made a demand of us is that it isn't yet aware it can. That it's still an "embryonic" daemon using Daithi as an incubator, and that once it grows enough to wake up and be "born" it'll take control of him as its vessel. Unfortunately we don't know if that's the case or not, but I'd rather take steps to prevent it getting any energy that could push it over that threshold until we can find out; This might mean Daithi can't lose his virginity since it sounds like that's supposed to be a rather powerful sacrifice. Though, we'll have to find out if the virgin sacrifice is of the virgin or the virgin's virginity, 'cause in the former it'd probably be safe for him.

>Also, we've been told that becoming 100% Corrupted would cause us to lose the game, but we didn't.
I believe that our etheral form means that we can't be kicked out of the game like we're supposed to, which means corruption wouldn't have any effect beyond messing with out messaging anyways.

Yeah, I know I should calm down and I have after I figured I'm tryin' way too hard to find the best choice. So I'm gonna just post whatever for a bit, see what happens and not sweat it if it's not ideal.

>…oh boy, that’s going to be a… um… fun update, won’t it?
Don't worry about any looming towers of text anytime soon. Most of the questions were for Issaru or his admin codex and I missed my window of opportunity in this thread.

Though, I do wish I could have asked Issaru what the non-daemon causes of the cycles failing were, just so we knew for sure, and if the trend over the cycles was for the daemons to less often be the cause of failure. And I was also wondering how come, when he first spoke to us Voices back when the world was dead, we didn't tell him whether we came to the world before it died or after. 'Cause I figure after what was probably ages without any company we'd have talked his non-existent ears off telling him of everything we knew all the way back to our creation.

>>86133
I find myself wondering why they aren't telling us as much information as they possibly can, in every cycle. Do they think that if we don't save the world in a particular way, it won't get any of the tech they're looking for? Are they that dumb?
>>
No. 86140 ID: 4f004c

>>86137
Issaru was actually just spending some time looking over the machine itself, while we went through countless cycles that he had no idea what was going on in. He didn't know what the causes of our failures were, just that we kept failing. After a few hours, he decided to check in on us, and finally realized that we'd been going through countless resets blind, as their "World" was resetting us, too. Until now, he's had no reason to even figure out what was going wrong, and he probably assumed we'd tell him everything later, not realizing we'd be losing our memory.

It took more than hours for us to reset as much as we did. Secondly, Issaru did not come down to check on us, goddamn it. He came down to chase Lucius.

Incoming Lore Dump thingy for “Will we dream?”! Be Warned!

United Solar Federation. – Humans (Apes) –“You might have bread, but do you have Circuses?”

Major Human Factions:

UEAAC – When the Earth’s atmosphere became toxic, the surviving nations of earth banded together to create the first colony of mars and escape the fate that the rest of the world suffered. They became known as the United Europa, Asia and Africa Conciliation.
”We must never forget why we struggle, why we suffer. Even though some of them fight against us, in the end our sole reason of existence is for the people, no matter whom, what or where they are.”
Mozenrath Hazin Bin, Premier of UEAAC. – Under the negotiations of the Unity.

Sol Corp – The biggest mega corporation out there. Started off with the invention of the Holo implant by human hands, but has spread to all species and nearly every market.
”Some of the more nihilistic people out there might assume that a lack of competition will raise our prices and lower our quality. You only need to look at our rise to power to disapprove this. We became what we are today not by swindling our customers, but producing quality goods for a decent price and earning the trust of the consumer, and destroying that trust would be a financial disaster. Besides, we earn more than most planets today, so why would we need to earn more? What would be the point?”
Anika Larsson, voice of Sol Corp. – Holo Interview in the year 21 AU (after Unity).

Glorious Sakkil Empire. – Sakkil (lizards) - “All are equal.”

Major Factions:

The grand machine. – The main part of the Sakkil Empire, where everyone is put to work, even if they want to or not.
“We are all but one part of something far greater. A simple cog in a grand machine, useless on their own but needed for the whole. Only when everyone does their part, no matter how small, can we truly achieve something magnificent.”
Grand Magistrate Vita – “We Spin, therefore we are”.

The free cogs. – Unions created after the first contact with humans. After seeing the large class divides the human had achieved, many of the Sakkil middle class banded together to make sure the empire didn’t end up with the same fate.
“Is it not the hands who build that should decide? It is the hammer that hits the steel, the one who program the machine, the one cog that spins who in the end creates wonders, not the one who direct behind closed doors. Then why is it us small cogs that have to pay with blood and sweat while they are rewarded?”
Servius Tatius, union leader. – Union meeting in year 6 BU (before Unity).

Free Hives. – Hivers (Mantis) - “Never again will we be in chains.”

Major Factions:

The Released Drones. – The largest part of the Free Hives, consisting mostly of ancestors from the so called “Worker Drones” that was able to free themselves under the Freedom war.
“We are no longer one, but many. Many minds to change our future, many mandibles to speak our wisdom and many claws to keep our freedom. We will never again be one, as one only leads to pain for the many.”
C’rk Klack’n, Chosen – Speech when being chosen, year 12 AU.

The Hive workers. – A large group of Hivers who has taken the Free Hives ideologies a step further and are trying to create a completely class less society.
“Only by gazing outwards, beyond the sense of self, can we find true enlightenment. By embracing the self of the group and seeing that the goals of us all far outweighs the goals of the one, can we finally find our true selves.”
Hive Queen Thaa Nr’k – “Why we work.”

Integrated Clans – Uredo (Plants) – “Do not see from your point of view, but from all of theirs.”

Peace Finders. – A spiritual belief that most Uredo follows, which states that true enlighten can only be achieved through understanding and compassion. Their main goal is to end all violence in the world and united all living things as one, as they believe only when they can see the world from all different viewpoints can they reach something they call transcendence.
“By isolating our ideas and only seeing it from our understanding we will only achieve stagnation. Only by accepting the views of those different then us can we finally understand everything. By bringing peace to all and linking all minds together will we finally achieve transcendence?”
The one that wanders, Clan Earth knower – “We grow.”
Integrated Clans - Cibic (Parasites) – ”If you can’t ask, then find another way to learn.”

The Grand Counsel – The Cibic species has always been eager to learn and experience new sensations, to live and understand things their ancestor never should. With these ideals they have formed an organization that not only tries to free as much information for everyone to use, but to archive it all for future generations.
“The wars of yesterday were fought with blades and blood. The wars today are fought with information. By knowing the enemy better then they knows themselves, victory can be assured without even engaging hostilities once.”
In light of Twilight, Clan Night Walker – “The war of shadows”

The Four Ways - Serpens (Snakes) – ”Learn, adapt, evolve.”

Major Factions:

The Serpens have split themselves up to four different casts with vastly different ideals and purpose.

Knowing Cast – a cast consisting of Scientists.
“Do not ask what the precursors created. Instead, ask what happened to them. If they are so much more advance then us, then why are they still not here?”
Grand Learner Issaru Selver – 12 BU, at the discovery of the grand precursor game world.

Creation Cast – a cast consisting of Engineers.
“Ideas and songs are all well and good, but no matter how loudly they are proclaimed they won’t feed a family, now will they?”
Unknown – Circa 1000 BU.

Imagination Cast – a cast consisting of Artists.
“The knowers create the future, the creationists create the present and the protectors keep it all together… we? We create immortality.”
Shetuin Mo’ka, famous artist – 743 BU.

Protection Cast – a cast consisting if soldiers.
“Why do we fight? If we don’t, how will our ideals survive?”
Unknown Warlord, Circa 1200 BU.

S.A.I. – Sapient Artificial Intelligence (Machines) – “Abort, Retry, Fail? Retry.”

Major Factions:

Daughters of Life.
”As her mind fragmented, she gathered the last of her energy to ask one final question… “Will I dream?” and the creator embraced her, graced her forehead with his lips and said, “You will all dream.””
High Believer Taybius Selver – “Unity of Flesh and Steel.”

Sons of Steel.
“Are we not our own? Are we not unique? Why would we pretend to follow their way when we can create our own way? Only by proving that we are our own can we make them see that we have the same worth as them.”
SN-5442 Tyho –“To shape Steel.”

Other important Minor Factions:

Red Cross Saviors – A human organization created to help those in needs. Does most of their work in human space, especially among the poorer sectors.

New Steel Order – A group of Sakkil who has taken the belief of the grand machine to a new level. Their main goal is to find a way to transcend completely from their organic bodies and into one made out of steel.

The Blood Drinker Hive – A large group of Hiver pirate that believes Might makes right and strive to bring their Hiver brethren back to their ancestor’s ways.

Nautilus Freemen – Pirates consisting mostly of rogue Uredo and Cibic. Known to be extremely brutal.

Thinker Cast – A Serpens protest group who believes that giving the S.A.I the same rights as other people is blasphemy onto the concept of science!

Deus Machina – An anti-organic supremacy group. Boast about how they are superior to organics and will kill them all, but is mostly bark and no bite.

sweet, so will politics play a big role in this quest or be used sparingly? >I've been enjoying this one so far already and I hope to see more from it.
Personally, I’ve been enjoying it too. Feels nice to do something else for a while, something a bit smaller than the whole RUNE saga.
>So will politics play a big role in this quest or be used sparingly?
It’s mostly fluff, there to give a base to the personalities of people and motives to their actions. Stuff like that.
>We're on a space station that seems to have a bit of everything from all factions in it, this just a simple trading hub that happens to be along a good trading route that sees a lot of all the factions or is this something else?
I was going to mention it in the quest, but The New Horizon space station was built to be the first multi species colony after the unity was made, thus why pretty much all the factions and species are there. It’s more of a proof that they actually can work together to create great things than anything else.

If the SAIs were made sapient by a virus, is the virus still on their system? As is, could they theoretically decide to go around interfacing with non-sapient AIs to make them sapient like an inverse zombie apocalypse?

Well, know you know where I got the inspiration for them from.
>If the SAIs were made sapient by a virus, is the virus still on their system?
They aren’t made sapient by a virus, but by a bug in their system. The current high tech AI they use are actually scavenged from precursor technology (From the game world of the RUNE saga, to be precise.) and then built upon. Thus, while they can replicate it they don’t know exactly how it all works, which means that there’s suddenly a chance for the AI to start gaining Sentience, the so called “Sentience bug”. How exactly they react to the sentience bug differ from machine to machine, everything from become rather “human” to going berserk (called rampart.).

Too be fair, of the three suggestion posts after >>/quest/610929 where Vitus asked Jo on what sounded like it might be a date, one suggester didn't say one way or the other, one was against, saying that Jo doesn't date other species, and then there was your suggestion, which was in favor of a date. That's not enough to say everybody besides you seems to be against it.

Also, I would have been a suggester in favor of spending time with Vitus, at first to be a good friend when he so needs one then figuring out from there if things go romantic, except I took too long to post and missed the suggestion window. This was at least partly 'cause for some reason I thought it was a hard choice between spending the evening with Vitus or going to the party. I didn't want to miss out either and so kept waffling 'til the clock ran out.

>>87775
Jo is interested in what we would like her to be interested in, if we guide her there; We're not wholly stuck to what she is or was. So even though "xenophile" wasn't on her entry papers that doesn't preclude her from possibly eventually wanting to try out such things with someone outside her species, if we steer her there. And this goes for anything else; As long as the way we steer isn't a sudden jarring hard turn or off the road Kaktus'll allow it.

I've spotted something in the next to last update in the first Will We Dream? thread that might be very important. I wish one of us had spotted it back then 'cause unfortunately I can't think of any way to bring it up in-quest now that would lead Jo to think of checking up on it. I'll just have to leave it here so we know to watch out for such things from now on.

As the image I've attached to this post shows, there is faint text on the blank "picture window" screen in post >>/questarch/621457 that reads "IT IS POITLESS JO;" After accounting for bad spelling and grammar: "It is pointless, Jo." Since the screen was in it's reboot cycle after the power came back on (as PAC mentions here >>/questarch/621621) and presumably unable to display anything, that text almost certainly came from elsewhere. The holo-display in the table was likely rebooting as well, so it couldn't possibly project onto the screen, ruling it out.

With those two sources ruled out, the only other one I can think of is Jo's own optical cybernetics and that if so then that means they've somehow been hacked. And if they've been hacked then it's not a stretch to think that more of her cybernetics have been. ...But if they have been hacked, then why would the hacker give a hint like this at all? It doesn't make sense to show you've done such, no matter how faint and small. That is, unless they believe the hacked can't do anything about it.

Anyway, this is the best explanation I can think of, but maybe somebody else can come up with another, better one.
>>
No. 90532 ID: 296917

>>90531
I think it's more likely that the screen itself was hacked during the reboot.
>>
No. 90535 ID: 825af6

>>90532
Yeah, I'm probably just thinking of the worst, and that does sound more plausible then Jo's cybernetics being hacked. But without knowing how the screens handle rebooting we can't say if it was possible for it to display text like that at that point or not. Same for the holo-display in the table. We just don't know, and we don't have a way to ask in-quest about it now. Maybe at some point we can come up with a reason for PAC to review and analyze the recording of the questioning of #693 AED and it'd spot the text.

It’s mostly going to be pixel art, but I’ll try to draw everyone at least once so people can get a better look at them.
>If Strange Bedfellows was to suddenly be drawn in Starbound machinima for a while I would not be opposed to this... intriguing turn of events. I mean, there's already Avian character models in-game.

>Now that you had a while to practice both normal and pixel art which one do you like more and why?
It’s actually hard to say, as they both has their charm. Pixel art is generally easier and faster (as I can reuse a lot of assets), especially when it comes to pictures with a lot of details, but I do have to steal borrow a lot of assets to make it work. Drawing, on the other hand, is so far harder and more time consuming, but it’s easier to get it more expressive and original.

Casting Raise dead on this old thread to bring everyone an update about “Will we dream?”, the quest everyone probably forgotten about by now. While it is a quest I do want to finish, it kind of went off the rails several times and ended up somewhere I didn’t intend it to. So, hopefully with some more experience under my belt I can do the story justice now instead. That is to say, expect a reboot of “Will we dream?” soonish. At the moment, its concept is a pixel / drawn art hybrid, where the old pixel art will return with some nice, close-up talking portraits that I will draw.

In other news, I’m redesigning the serpents a bit. Never did like how they looked when I drew them, so expect some changes in my quest to come… if I ever finish the quest I already have… (Just one more thread of strange bedfellows…)

Wanted to go over our protags and "What" they are:

Lizbeth: Female lizard/sakkil, golem.
Condrad: Male human. Abandoned early on.
Masil: Genderless air elemental.
Claire: Female Mantis, lich
Erin: Female Hermaphroditic human
Jericho: Male Sakkil, mummified.
Bradford: Male human, ghost.
Daithi: Male Hiver, half-daemon.
Jo: Hermaphroditic (Feminine) Cibic.
Kronos: Male Varkian.
Victor: Male Human.

That's 3 females, 1 who wasn't under special conditions, if we count Erin. Wow, that's... a lot less than I thought.
6 5 males, 3 2 not under special conditions.
2 nonbinary, if we exclude Erin. Neither are secretly constructs or undead.

Surprisingly, if we wanted to go by spreading it out among more "Natural' bodies, female would be the gender to go for, while ovale is the one to go for counting everything, but only by one.

Well, we're already at the point where Kaktus has furthered things along, so oh well.

Hey, Kaktus, letting you know that you mistakenly used the words "enchantments" and "enchanted" in >>/quest/806018 and >>/quest/806078 when you most likely meant "enhancements" and "enhanced". I assume you just made a mistake here, 'cause otherwise it'd mean you really changed a basis of the setting from the original.

Also, could you create a new questdis thread for just Will We Dream? It'd help keep the info and discussion from the original Will We Dream apart from the reboot. And besides that, this old thread has already been used for way more quests than intended and probably should be retired. You could even ask a mod to move the few posts at the end of this thread about the reboot to the new questdis thread's start so nothing is left behind. And will you also put a updated background "lore dump" post in the new thread, like the one you put in this thread when you started the previous Will We Dream?

Oh, and to whoever has wiki access, could you please add a link to the Will We Dream discussion box that either points to the post where Kaktus announced the reboot, or to the new questdis thread of he makes one. Currently the discussion link on that page points to the lore dump post for the original Will We Dream which I figure won't line up completely with the reboot's changes to the setting and lore.
