Yeah, I agree, I'd like to see First back too.
And it is definitely possible to bring him back, we just have to be careful and take small steps.

Heck, I even made a redaction suggestion after Ulzrick got blind but it seems that some of our players are heavily biased against certain players and had heavily downvoted the suggestion (without really reading it, I suspect).

My redaction suggestion was to gain just knowledge and not to resurrect First, this course of action, in my opinion, would have been safe and we would have given some ground-work for further plans to resurrect the First.

Anyway, if you post a good valid redaction (with a good enough roll) I'll probably second it.

I just had a very random thought. Mordre has no neck. He probably has no working mouth, either. Does he have ears? I doubt it. So how does he hear and make noise?

Maybe it's some kind of Phonomancy spell-matrix-thingy, dedicated to hearing and speaking. I'd bet there's a fairly standard configuration that's applied to golems in general, but Mordre's capabilities seems waaay more advanced than the stuff most golems/small tombs can do. Could that part of him also have been created with future potential in mind (presumably by Mordecai)?

If that's the case, I wonder if we could enhance the whole thing with a Pristine Soul to give Mordre better hearing, more range of audio output, and even rudimentary tremorsense? Combat Phonomancy, in other words. That would be pretty cool and useful, if true. It would certainly save on using a Boon to try getting Phonomancy from Lenryt, or hunting down rare and exotic mages.

>[MAJOR PLOT LINE SERIOUSLY ALTERED: THE BOOM TIME TRAGEDY HAS NOW BECOME THE BANGBOOM TIME RUCKUS]
Yaaaaaay!

I am just so freakin happy right now. Seriously. Ever since Boom said he wanted to go back and save Kaplooie, I was thinking, "Oh man, oh man this is gonna be horrible and tragic, he's going to cause a paradox that'll summon the dreameater in the first place or maybe the paradox of his presence will strengthen it or something... this will NOT end well! This is gonna be so sad!" That's why I threw the idea for bottling her Soul out there, I figured we HAD to find out if Boom was running on Magnum Impulsiveness before it was too late to change his plan, and we needed a cheap and quick-to-implement way to fix history if he ended up making it worse somehow or even getting everyone killed-

But now? Now I am stoked. Everyone else had amazing ideas for screwing time so it still looks the same as before to outside observers, way better than soul-catching (though like I said in the quest thread, that should be an absolute last resort).

Look out TIME, here come the MAGNUMS to fix HISTORY through the power of PUNCHING, OHYEAH!!!
(er, sorry about that Velada, we'll get Mordre to make you some deep-spawn aspirin or something)

>Known for being able to jump on air as if it were a solid, weight bearing surface without issue, achieving a pseudo-flight, and being completely impervious to fire of all known sorts. Captain Falcon is also said to be supremely fast, though there have been no direct observations to support this claim as of yet, unlike his pseudo flight, and fire immunity.

It seems I was unclear on the source of my confusion; what I desire to know is how Welgahoo plays into the plan. That is, why send the fertility and plant growth Deep Spawn when the Cursed Lands are fertile enough already, when the only impediments to habitation are dangerous monsters and plants, which Welgahoo is unsuited to rectifying? We would want warriors for that, I would think.

...Actually, why not obtain a starting following of Morgren and then settle them into the ruins around Kyorto's tower, without removing the dangers at all? As Morgren are shown to be eager for any fight, why not let them fight off the dangers, appeasing their battle-lust and, at the same time, making the area safe for habitation for others who do not have the same combat capability of the Morgren? If Mordre becomes capable of possessing multiple bodies, the magic capability of from Mordre should help mitigate some of the dangers that the Morgren are not able to face while having an authority on site to control them.

hello, I started reading golem quest some days ago, its awesome. I wish I here earlier so I could actually influence it some. I have days to read yet before I fully catch up (currently on thread6) but I have noticed something that I sincerely hope was rectified.

My observation is that this world is super mega ultra high magic. Magic is everything. Every request people make, no matter HOW crazy (punch politics in the face, craft a bunch of sentient golems, whatever), bob responds with "Sure you can, you just need level X of magics Y".

So far the most powerful beings are heroes and mages, both of which are mages actually. Because heroes are combat mages who turn magic inwards to reinforce their body (or outwards to destroy)... the dragons can wipe the floor with us, our pet ghost mage can wipe the floor with us, the leaders of the mortal coin can wipe the floor with us, and even some heroes can wipe the floor with us (with the recent attack in the land of dragons meeting lubu, the other dragon, the time mage, the 4 monks, the siege weapons)...

The most powerful implements, by far, that morde has are all magic. they are his magnetomancy, his eye lasers (rune magic), and his stolen arm magics (rune magic). Those 3 are what wins the day...

Morde himself is in an exceptionally good position to be a mage.
He has thousands of souls all contributing manapool and manaregen so to speak, each individual nexus can cast seperate and concurrently (something mortal mages cannot do, at least pre ascension) and he has eidetic memory (allowing him to memorize several books in 3 minutes... he should have taken a few hours and memorize every single magic book he owns. Scratch that... every single book period. Sure the knowledge takes time to digest, but at least it would be there.

I have to say that the goal should be most rapid growth, by choosing something like "blood iron and souls from battle" you get a one time limited boost... and one that misses an important issue... that morde has dozens of hero and mage souls, all versed in magic, which he does not properly assimilate magic from, and that morde could himself acquire what he needs rather than ask it in boons if he merely asked the right boon... that is...

I think the next chance he can get a boon from lynrt he should ask for Soul magic, specifically the abilities to:
1. Extract (magic primarily) knowledge & skill from heroes he consumes (without damaging them for their other functions).
2. Extract all (magic primarily) knowledge & skill from mages he consumes (without damaging them for their other functions).
3. Boost/better manage the souls he consumes
4. Consume souls at a much greater rate, distance, and ease (say, use MAGIC to draw in souls covertly from all across a battle at a great range, easily overpower and absorb hero souls, etc).
5. Intercept souls escaping (eg: dulu)

The above should have the least direct improvement on his combat deadliness... yet the greatest longterm gain... that being that every mage or hero he consumes teaches him so much more about magic...

Imagine for example that in the battle of the core being with lubu he has been able to absorb ALL knowledge of the strange combat magic the 4 monks he consumed had? instead they just got subsumed as hero souls... but if he had absorbed it he would have gained competency in several fields of magic greater than what lynrt will gift in a SINGLE boon... imagine if he absorbed all the aeromancy magic of gunmen he consumed? or the preternatural awareness of dulu? (and now he could actually perhaps actually CONSUME dulu instead of letting his soul escape)

Just something I thought must be shared. I had much more enlightening input but I believe that it would probably all be obsolete by the time I fully catch up.

I also noticed... we seem to LOSE the majority of souls in battle because we cannot harvest them fast enough (or don't want to scare allies seeing them harvest allied souls)... imagine if in the battle with the yeti he had absorbed a dozen shamans + the eldest shamaen... instead he only got 1 single regular shaman... He could have used their knowledge to personally take over the little tomb in mesmorde, or to take over the little tomb he fought in the professor island... and such out their precious souls and assimilate them too. Or if morde absorbed all the souls in the battle with lubu using his own power to reach out and snach them...

This is beyond other benefits of soul magic, for example, there was notice made that mordre could alter his own internal spell matrices with it; permanently boosting or altering himself as he sees fit.

BTW... Looking a the pictures, nobody seems to notice that the world motes we fed moss are FAIRIES... they LOOK like fairies, they are a communal intellect, when there are enough they can speak, and they are "mischievous tricksters, potentially malicious". Not that it is really bad, moss is awesome... just pointed out that nobody seemed to realize or notice.

thanks arlatan... made progress, well into ch7... there is just so much.

anyways, I came up with another idea for soul magic use... allow followers to capture souls for you.
So say, if bang kills a mage, capture said mage's soul (I doubt bang will care) using some sort of device crafted with soul magic.

And it occured to me, perhaps the harksburton (I keep thinking harkonan :P) ancestral sword can be enhanced the same way that Logrks sword is? now (well, early ch7) that Logrks figured out its means of empowerment.

Rereading the Heroic Souls Mordre contains, I noticed something interesting. We have Luo of the Winding Path in the right arm. Look at tht name Luo of the [b]Winding Path[\b]. He is from the Land of Dragons and had some undefined kind of contract on Keddic. Now that we have some more info on Keddic, and the Winding Path, I think he is a student of the Lined One. That would explain his strange apparently unmagiced movement abilities.

He placed a collar around an animal accompanying him, then went after Keddic with apparently unmagical but better than human movement. He probably used the Winding Way to fold the space he moved through, with lots of small folds, like Ulzrick did with his muscleporting in the outpost. By the way, we haven't seen that animal since.

If anyone thinks he can spin this for a Pristine Soul, make noise and I'll hold off pursuing it in the quest thread.

If for a few days nothing comes here, I'll start suggesting we question Keddic on the Lined One, his stance on students killing each other and if he mentioned the names of some other students to Keddic. Given reason we want to avoid getting Keddic in trouble with his teacher for fights he does on our asking.

That's been addressed actually. The Winding Way and the Winding Path (um, one of those names might be wrong) are linked up in a certain manner that the Lined One uses to create those wormholes that Keddic is using to teleport around within his Haemosphere.
>>
No. 35878 ID: c471be

>>345645

Yes, Winding Way is moving unsouled objects, Winding Path is moving souled objects. IIRC Keddic learned the Winding Path first before the interruption in his Studies under the Lined One.

That is not negligible for a Pristine Soul. But there is the nebulous contract, which unlike we first assumed looks to be very unlikely to originate with Barcho by now, and the animal we haven't seen since. Perhaps someone else has noticed something I missed and can make conclusions about either the contract or the aimal or both that lead to a prediction.

From the Quest thread:
>...Hm. Perhaps my thoughts need not be so comparatively slow-After all, this body works on fabricated nervous signals generated and sent between interlocked golem partitions-what prevents me from simply creating the signal right at its endpoint, eliminating all transit time? Not so much tractomantic, as spatially null.... I decide to table the idea for now, but resolve to spend an hour each day investigating this possibility minimum, until such time I determine if it is possible or not.
Excellent. Hope that works. Mordre's taking his first personal steps towards becoming part ignimancer; small, lightning-powered steps.

Thus begins my cunning plan to nudge Mordre into eventually becoming Old Man Mordre the Genial Generator, Eradicator of Enemies, Guru of Golems, Architect of Ascendance!

No, I'm not serious.

Well... not entirely serious.

Tactics to consider for future:
1. Why steal time only from enemies? steal time from the very air around you during a fight... you react faster AND it serves as “armor”

2. When next challenged by eisenheart; ask him to agree to a term that the fight would be considered your victory if you manage to remove a limb... to balance your handicap for trying to take him alive. Ideally get him to agree to a challenge of who can kill a specific set of opponents faster rather then each other rather then trying to kill each other (again, since you want him alive)

Discussion:
1. Could Lenryt be the one who provided the knowledge on how to perform the mesmordian curse? Perhaps as a boon.We might ask for the knowledge of who it was that bartered the knowledge from her. Or maybe not as it might offend her.

2. Bang tumor darts. Dart like teeth filled with tumor cells and nerve toxins, shoot it at opponents. Infect on impact at a range. (currently only used at touch)

3.bang bone armor should be made out of many tiny interlocking bones for more runes. Layered like an onion only much much thinner to maximize runes.

4. Would it have been possible (prior to eden) to use soulfire of 3 souls which have been shifted to be pure order then soulfire chaos and make a big boom?

5. Does merging a second (or third) egg into a spawn cause it to gain strength FASTER and have a higher upper limit (do they have an upper limit?)? Or is it a one time boost that could have been reached normally? that is, would putting a 3rd egg into the teleporter (which has been said before, would let it teleport living mortals directly) or a second egg into phone or maybe even 2 or 3 eggs into EACH of our underlings to go for quality over quantity? helping them grow faster and reach greater hights? or does it just shave a few years off their growth, which should be limited then to “only when strictly necessary” since its otherwise a waste of an egg

6. Lenryt crafted dolrik a “grave of swords” by combining four swords... one of which was Everfeast's... do those swords have a soul?

7. I just realized something... morde’s right arm is tentacle like claws, left is a crushing fist... this is the same as eldergod the scientomancer... could it be on purpose? after all, morde does host the soul of one or maybe because it was one who designed them to help in mesmorde conquering the world.

8. Really REALLY need to get jaz and Ulzrick to clarify things... Jaz currently thinks he has been implanted wet dreams about him in her mind and then got her stone drunk and taken advantage of her. idiots in thread suggested he use magic to “seduce” her into not hating him... a retarded idea with horrible moral implications (rape!). Seriously needs to clarify this up, and do so with words not by reducting to affect her mind.

9. Pretending to be an old man and the belief associted with it has caused us to actually become capable of forgetting... This is dangerous. It was a mistake to pretend to have memory issues, should have focused on having eidetic memory and claimed immortality. is it too late to claiming eidetic memory? to claiming that a major source of knowledge and power is the ability to perfectly remember every book you ever saw? How do we go about shaping the belief in us to ensure it doesn’t degrade mordre further.

Valkyrie type spawn; the reaper of souls.
She resides within mordre, she can move and manipulate the souls within morde, and her spawn manifest to outside of morde to guide souls who believe in his eden to him. Excellent solution for the senility risk!
that will work and we better get right on to implementing it.

Alignment: there has been discussion in main on whether mordre is "evil" or "good" or "neutral" or "lawful" or "chaotic"... my take on it is that forcing the 2 axis DnD drek of a system unto mordre is a mistake. Real people cannot be described in such terms and none of them fit. Every suggested alignment fails to fit for a variety of reasons.

My take is that mordre is a conquerer, a warrior, and a builder. He is not malicious, and he is smart enough to see the value of making allies, taking captives, forgoing the consumption of some souls, and obeying the moral codes of populations to maintain his image.

Morality varies around the world, the moral code of the premen is very different than that of the sphere gods and the minions... some most nations in the area around his old home revile soul magic, while the LoD basis their society around soul magic, ancestor worship, soul rights, and reviling of blood magic. Local nations vary from loving democracy to belief in "might makes right" to the point that even peasants would stone an army which they deem to be "weak" because of lack of violence (dominitus). and then there is the various views of magic (worshiped to "burn the witch"). Mordre is a plethora of anathema, he is triple anathema in his native lands... those 3 anathemas are not that big of a deal in the LoD while he is wholly different anathema there... and we know of at least 3 societies that would worship him, literally.

Rather then trying to say "is he good" I would rather try to distill his motivations and beliefs.
- Mordre is immortal unless killed, he is not interested in hiding but desires to affect the world.
- He is motivated by conquest.
- He claimed to be motivated by revenge, but this seems to have pattered out, besides he doesn't exactly show deference to the beliefs of the society he claims to seek revenge for. I view that as more of a facade for acquisition of specific allies.
- He desires personal power, via the acquisition of souls, upgrades, and magics.
- He has evolved a persona capable of hate and friendship, he cares for his friends and allies.
- He realizes, as he explained to many (ex, JoJo), that "the end justifies the means" oftentimes fails to calculate all costs, things such as reputation for example.
- He strives to be loved by the people rather then a fearsome tyrant to prevent being overwhelmed.
- He is willing to cold heatedly slaughter mercilessly any who oppose him, or who would benefit him. Although it is only very, very rarely that he actually has the option to slaughter and harvest souls with abandon without risking his reputation.
>>

Well, whatever he actually IS, he's playing the part of the Good guy, and giving Mordre something which he himself says will let him be more open about, basically, how evil he is, not too good of an idea. We need to stick to Mordre more and Perspective shift less, I feel. I think he seems to get... very much like his old self, when we're not around for a while.
>>
No. 35998 ID: 9766b6

I don't think Mordre is so much evil as he is not a nice person.

Remember this?
>"||I titled myself conqueror, not tyrant. I have been self aware for little more than a month, And in that time I have earned the service of a northern tribe of Premens, As well as the allegiance of a mage in training. They serve me willingly, because I endeavored to make them WANT to serve me, out of their respect for my word and my might. I shall forge an empire, rife with strength, to crush those who destroyed our home, 'tis true. But I shall continue to seek out allies, those who would serve by choice, Rather than simply bestow terror and death amongst all I meet. I will do what is necessary to forge a strong empire, One that shall not be toppled by treachery and deceit, One that can bestow vengeance on those held accountable for the fall of Mosmordre.||"

>"You shall do what is 'necessary'?
>And what is 'necessary' for those who still claim ire and hatred of Mosmordre,
>What of those who would impede your empire's creation?||"

>"||Then I shall do that which I was crafted for, and butcher those who resolutely oppose me. Let those who still despise the memories of Mosmordre come for me as I build this empire: They shall be consumed to fuel my power, their deaths and agony a just reward. Let there be no mistake, magely soul, I will offer nothing but absolute despair to those who betrayed Mosmordre. I am an engine of war and death, an instrument of butchery and bloodshed: I shall show them my purpose when they dare to face me.||"

This is how we defined Mordre to Kyorto, two times at that. And with our Behavior we reinforced that definition. We went for violent solutions whenever we thought it wouldn't hurt our long time goals, essentially when we thought we could get away with it.

>With THAT at my back, I may not need to play so 'nicely' and confine myself to virtuous acts-I could have power enough behind me to more openly display my gluttony for death and war...

Is very much in line with our words to Kyorto and our behavior. I read it more as joy that Mordre is now less limited and can practice what he is made for more often than throwing away the more diplomatic approach of convincing people to give allegiance to him.

If you want Mordre to concentrate on diplomatic advancement instead of war and battle, give him some character development in that direction. In other words try to supply a chain of reasoning for Mordre, why it is better to keep a strong leash on his violent nature even when he can get away with it. We said something to Jojo early on about actions, consequences and goals during the fight between Fekk and Mingsk you may use as a starting point.

I don't think I could write it convincingly.

>”-But I have also found good in my travels, honorable souls… Whom I could befriend, could trust, could call my comrades. Their existence, their presence has tempered my disposition greatly. Why am I building an empire here in the bones of the decaying State? To help those I befriended prosper, with knowledge, resources, and trade. And as I travel these lands, I perpetually find more good, honorable people. While I feel I must hide my true nature from them, I still count them as allies. Simply put, I seek power not just for my revenge, but for prosperity, For order for those I call comrades: It pleases me to see them prosper. The souls you hear screaming in me are bandits, marauders and betrayers, Those who had the misfortune to come against me, I do not deny this. But the souls you hear sing in contentment within my form are their counterbalance, Those of honorable opponents, as well as allies that fell beside me, Their power freely given.”

>The shadowed, stark and uncolored form of Reinhardt only can splutter at these words, as his mount nods its head in understanding. …But more than that, I feel the words to ring true whether I wished to deceive them or not: The only things that remain of the Mosmordren empire are mindless weapons, that barring being awakened to sapience I could never truly call my fellows… and so those I have been gathering about me have BECOME my home, without me truly having been cognizant of it. Without them, I would once more stand alone, stand apart, bereft of confidants or allies, and likely revert to my more amoral ways… and a part of me wonders if such a reversion would be such a bad thing, to revel in my own existence as a weapon and not bother with the contrivances of socialization… but that part is smaller now than it was when I first awoke. My introspection is broken as Reinhardt’s mount speaks to me.

Bob said that if Arcus got a deepspawn stuff would happen. I think it was a power boost and a new "quest line" I think the term was.

>why would we want to implant a deep spawn in his body?
the power boost

>why do people think it is somehow necessary (something to do with his current state as an immortal soul)
due to his possesion by the caged one his body/soul/magic is more or less a small scale system. as in the system of leylines criscrossing the planet acting as a prison and power modulation system.

cant remember what was said but i think it was implyed that Arkus's system would greatly benifit from getting a deepspawn to act as a administrator.

Right now I have two big ideas, one of them is for a new weapon, the other is a way to help keep mords secret.

First the weapon, this is more or less the post from the main thread with the addition of anti magic and a bit of rewording. So if you read that one you can skip this bit. It’s a cheap dirty and quick orbital bombardment system. First we take Burduko on a ride though space, so he can teleport objects over areas of interest. What we have him teleport are specially prepared tungsten spears. The spears are enchanted with limited Tractomancy, and Kinetimancy. The Tractomancy spell is limited to do one thing and one thing only, keep the spear pointed at a paired beacon that someone on the ground has planted. Its job is to keep the spear on track, and make sure it can find the target. (Bound to only work when no one is holding the spear, bond to only work when the spear is above the ground, bond to only change the facing of the spear, and anything else you guys think would help) Kinetimancy is what will actually make sure sure the spear goes where it’s supposed to by constantly pushing the spear forwards along the path its pointing at. (bond to only when no one is holding the spear, bond to only work when the spear is more than 700 feet above the ground bond to only work if the spear is pointed at the ground, bond to work only if the spear is dropped, not if it is thrown.) to prevent easy deflection, we also add some anti magic runes.(bond to only work when the spear is white hot, bond to only work when less than 699 feet above the grond, bond to only work against arcane magic.) I think we can migit be able to get away with having guidance cut out a few hundred feet from the target. But I could be wrong. But the spears would not be that expensive, so we could probably make a few with slightly different runes for testing purposes. This system would have the advantage of not having standing platforms in orbit that could be destroyed. does anyone see any improvements to be made or glaring flaws?

I also have an idea to help keep people from getting suspicious of us. As things stand to fully cement our cover story we need to eventually produce long range golem control. I have a feeling that’s going to be very difficult to produce. What we do is at some point is “admit” that a few key pieces of our apparatus were fond rather than made. The reason we needed so much data on the system was because we are still trying to reverse engineer how some of its parts work. If we act sufficiently embarrassed about it we might be able to get people to buy it Again does anyone see ways to improve this or any reasons why it wouldn’t work?

the orbital bombardment just seems impractical to me. Way to much effort into somthing that can be done with a quick teleport followed by a order-chaos shot

second
the key to a good lie is knowing when to shut up about it, as best as I can tell were already at that point
>>
No. 36182 ID: f0e3ae

>>345977
At first I thought the same... then it occurred to me that order/chaos shot destroys souls. This would be a weapon of mass destruction that doesn't, allowing us to harvest the souls of whatever it blows up.

The thing is, we CAN actually make non soul destroying shots with the canon... we just need to shoot only one of the two bullets, or not invert one, and use lots of coils to accelerate it to ridiculous speed for a large boom that isn't souls destroying.

Also it would not be that hard to stop with magic, unlike a teleporting mordre. And I wouldn't want to give our enemies ideas. (imagine they started using that on us)

Finally, simple =! easy. Aiming something like that is not a trivial task.
>>
No. 36183 ID: cd63e9

the point of this system is to let the state forces make use of orbital attack Without our direct involvement. It is less powerful than what we can do personally but requires nothing more than a bit of Phohn's attention and Burduko's tel-port capacity.

I don't know much about deception so i'll take your word on the second point, but my idea could still be a backup plan if people start asking to many questions about long range golem control .

When Lenryt hauled us into the future and abandoned us in present mad biomancer land, I'm fairly certain we met Bang from Arkus's perspective very briefly, and he was surprised to see him in a body.

This makes sense of course since Arkus's body mirrors the Caged One, who is attempting to outgas his soul and go kicking amongst the starts, I guess Arkus's soul is just trying to escape his body and the end result will be a sentient souldude walking around.

everything mordre knows about morgren thats been mentioned in the quest threads

-----------from the first thread

>To the south is a mix of human settlements with a few fairly large communities, I mentioned the mid sized town with iron mines, and Froggrock tribes. Normally I would say the Froggrocks should be avoided, but they seem to view all golems highly and Soul Graves are practically worshiped from what I have been told.

>To the south west, though, I know there is a Morgren.... mass down there, barely held in check by the surrounding communities. I don't know if it would work, but they might recognize your design, and perhaps the way the Mosmordrens designed them will compel them to serve you. .....Although if it doesn't, they are still quite adherent to their berserker-like dedication to war and combat, and they would try very, VERY hard to destroy you.

------------- above and bellow came from asking arkus

The Yetis and Premen to the north don't have any formal government, and the Morgren horde to the south-west is the only one nearby. Most of the others migrated. ...Ah, that's about it I can think of."

------------- this from one of our early conversations with the yeti

And if it were not for the power wielded through those gems..... the Premen, they are our bane. Singularly primal and wild in manner and appearance, they are giant, bestial people. Only the Morgren can claim to be stronger, more ferocious than they."

------------A what should I do? mordre thought

-Alternatively, both the Froggrocks and Morgrens have reason to revere my existence, and I might be able to forge an army and kingdom out of the savage kingdoms. The plan is far more direct, and may let me gain a larger army than I could normally achieve so quickly, but there is a chance that I could be faced with an alliance the likes of which destroyed Mosmordre, should the news of a free willed golem spread.

-----------from thread twelve when we were fussing about how to use blood to supe up our metal

-Beyond Deep Spawn, Morgren, Dreameaters, Core Beings, World Parasites, Blood Parasites, Deep Beings and immortals all have innately imbued blood.

--------Discussion thread

MORGREN:
Morgren are a Life Golem species crafted by the Mosmordren Empire as shock troops, and they were bred and molded to be violent and powerful, vicious fighters. Made from a base Premen (The great, hairy and freakishly strong barbarians to the north. They have little civilization.) augmented with Gorilla, Tiger and Rhinoceros, they are eight to ten feet tall, have some seven hundred to twelve hundred pounds of slabs of ropey muscle, have patches of thick, pelt-like hair on their shoulders, forearms and pelvis, and have rough, pebbly skin, their hide tougher than good leather armor. Their jaws are massive and ludicrously overdeveloped, with viscous fangs and a horn protruding from their forehead, their necks and spines heavily reinforced.

They have formed a strange, perpetually warring set of Clans since the fall of the empire of their masters, and now fight both each other and everyone they find, pillaging and raiding as they go, only submitting to those they deem stronger.
--------------

At no point was it inferred Life Golems could not reproduce, provided multiple of the same type are made and they have not been designed to lack sexual organs.
Morgrens were created as a warrior race, so fairly hostile (Premen in general would find them significantly warlike, Bang would LOVE them).
Refined, as they wouldn't make decent soldiers if they couldn't follow orders to some degree.
They would see Premen as a Precursor race (since that is one of their base building blocks as life golems), beyond that would vary based on Morgren tribe and how the meeting went.
Crossbreed possible, but would work like normal crossbreed, IE sterile offspring.
Morgren do not have makers, use slave labor for building/etc (slaves of all sorts from those they have fought in raids).
Morgren work on a clan basis heavily influenced by basic animalistic 'alpha' mentalities, in that clan leadership is won by strength, not inherited.
To Soul Grave: Unknown, never encountered a Sapient Soul Grave before.
To 'Mage Mordre': Would be highly interested in where the mage claims to hail from.
To Kyorto: Genetic predisposition to serve, provided she can prove Mosmordren birth despite new life. Respect for strength to return from death.
Only concentration of Morgren is to the southwest as mentioned, they have been pushed back every time they tried to encroach on more populated lands, as they lack cohesive leadership.
More than ten thousand were made, specific numbers unknown.
Total current population: in excess of twenty thousand, specific number unknown
...The Mosmordren Empire made them, through their mage collectives, unless you mean the original person to work out the particular formula, in which case, find it out in quest.
A sizable portion of the Morgren population are surviving original creations, many of them in higher positions due to veteran status in tribes.
They never had anger towards specific foes, they just view them as things they were told to kill, and killed, when serving Mosmordre, the empire that created them.
One would assume them to still have the inbuilt prerogatives to serve Mosmordren citizens.
Unknown how Morgren would respond to Mordre, dependent on many factors, authority not guaranteed.
There is no such thing as an untrained Morgren , they have inbuilt weapon proficiency encoded in them, that they polish through personal experience.
Able to treat normal humans like toddlers, stronger than normal Premen, weaker than Oggroth.
They were used as berserker/shock troops, and to form raiding parties.
Main function was dependent on role assigned, but generally to serve as high-potency infantry.
Morgren served in both, though when serving in mixed unit, had handlers that guided them.

Nice summary. Anything in the discussion thread is something we know but Mordre does not.

And we need to get the froggrocks ASAP, they would worship us, which meshes well with our belief engine.

With the morgreen: One possible approach I see is that we establish ourselves as a fellow mesmordian creation then we are on equal footing, in which case its "the weaker obey the stronger"... we just have to defeat the strongest of each tribe in single combat and set it such that there are tournaments every day, and that once per month we shall come to fight the victor of said tournaments for position of strongest. Although I am concerned about reprecussions, they sound overly aggressive and uncontrolled and we already have the premen (who actually have makers), it might be best to purge the morgreen if they are too rough. Not saying we should, just keeping the option open.

Actually, why even bother revealing our identity? A simple "we are told that the morgreen follow the strongest, I will claim that title by fighting the strongest amongst you"

i'm seeing some issues with conqouring the morgen. they are not the sort we want assosacted with us. and I don't trust them to keep a secret from the more advanced nations. It might be best if we try to civlize them a bit before making use of them. to get them to adopt more "acceptable" practices we could use the pitch that these methods have allowed mere humans to become strong enough to repel the morgen time and time again.

That's assuming that the colony wouldn't just clear out the flora and fauna they intend to inhabit, and introduce, from the State's stores as well as the Drazken's, imported seeds. Barring weirdness (which, as such oddity would likely stem from an organic source as the Curse only afflicts organics to the extant of the knowledge people have revealed in-quest, Mordre could just have the Spectral Gorging Anima take care of it), those plants would grow up just fine.

No such thing. The closest things I could find are .50-110 Winchester and .50-140 Sharps. .50-110 is pretty close to .45-70 in performance: a black powder round with a huge bullet but not that that much velocity behind that bullet. The round you were probably thinking of is .50-140, which is comparable to .500NE (though it's still nothing special by today's standards).

tl;dr he might as well just use a .45-70 and save himself the trouble of finding the crazy rare ammo for his gun.

No, I was specifically talking about the 50x110 Sharps cartridge, which was one of their buffalo hunting cartridges. Past there, couple things.
-Dude handloads his rounds and has a home setup to machine the actual shell casing, so obtaining more rounds isn't an issue.
-While his rounds are ostensibly 50x110 sharps, they are not black powder, the slug proper has been redesigned, and in general the round modernized.
-It is this modernized round (which in terms of composition has more to do with Raufoss rounds than old black powder charges) which has four times the force. I am well aware of the limitations of black powder.

Of course, I'm no gun expert-if you believe there are grounds to call this mechanically impossible, cite them.

No. 37100 ID: 28e94e

>>346864
Okay, after a little Googling I think I've found the round you're referring to. Just in case, would you mind showing me your source?

As for the technical difficulties I can think of: Rifle would need some serious modifications to handle the increased force. Similarly, the cartridge would need extra reinforcement so it won't be seriously warped when fired (you could probably get away with steel cartridges, but I'm no expert). The bullet has to be flat-nosed because of the tube magazine; it's also handmade, which generally means less precise tooling and no nice smooth copper jacket. At such high velocities that combination can result in drastically reduced accuracy, I'm almost tempted to make a comparison to a smoothbore musket (though that may be a bit of an exaggeration). Oh, and unless you've hacked on a suppressor, the muzzle flash will be brighter than the sun and the report will be enough to cause permanent hearing damage to not only the shooter but everybody within thirty feet of the shooter.

By the way, the proper syntax is ".50-110".
>>

So, what were the other research outposts in the State working on? Anything nifty?
>>
No. 37141 ID: a76809

That's right, I keep forgetting. .50-110, not .50x110... maybe I'll remember this time.

Source is: http://www.chuckhawks.com/buffalo_cartridges.htm

Couple clarifying things.

-When I said he was set up at home, I mean that between his home machining capacities and his associates assorted contacts, he can get comparably precise tooling and copper jacketing for his ammunition.
-This is a person who in-character is a MASSIVE Wanted: Dead or Alive fan, who wanted to be just like the W:DoA character Josh Randall. He has purposefully devoted a disproportionate amount of his time and money to that goal over his life-part of which was getting an over-calibered Mare's leg.
-As he has the aid of a magical bloodline to deal with the recoil, allowing him to fire this without breaking his shoulder or wrists, also favors going into combat with noise cancelling headphones and protective eyewear.
-He actually enjoys the fact each time he fires his gun it's like a little flashbang.
-This is why he can get away with using such an outdated weapon in a contemporary setting-it lets him be an EXCELLENT urban combat operative, by using corners and tight spaces to blind, deafen and in general stun foes while shooting.

Now, if you still see some problems bring them up, as with this I think that's all the character justification I have for him using that.

>>346919
What, pre-State collapse, or currently? pre-State, bunch of different things, largely related to magical artillery, mass magical weapons for armies, golem research and metallurgy/magnetomancy theory, as a counter to the Mosmordren Empire's fondness for enchanted metals. Currently, Eisenhardt and Kyroto are getting each outpost (Save the Arcanoworks and Eisenhardt's bases, which are now becoming 'administrative' outposts that immediately oversee other research outposts) linked up with Burduko and the teleport gates Lenryt installed, so that on command all sixteen non-administrative outposts can be put on a single collective task, or set individually.

Okay, that makes more sense. Still no way it'd get the power of .600NE, especially with a short barrel... might have to cheat and handwave it as magic whatever. Come to think of it, that would also give you an excuse to ignore the accuracy issues as well.

It has a muzzle energy of 4 joules. My BB gun can get about three times as much energy.

.22 bullets usually fail to penetrate a skull if they don't hit the right angle... and there have been cases where a direct perpendicular hit at 90 degrees to the skull STILL failed to penetrate through the skull.

which makes it nearly harmless to humans. Unless you fire it point blank at an important organ. You are literally at greater risk dying from a taser then you are from one of these shots... but it CAN put out an eye. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2_mm_Kolibri

finally, its not a MODERN WEAPON... we promised to teach them modern human weapons, the above is a curio from 1914-1938 which was never popular and they would never face.
Also we need to keep the goblins interested, they must be convinced that it is worth to keep spending hours learning the use of modern humans weapons over their current fighting styles of sword and arrow. This means teaching them useful weapons.
mmm... you can learn then teach them... if you keep on progressing with master ito you could then teach them a martial art based on guns. And Krav Maga is VERY modern weaponry oriented. It uses modern guns and knives.
And then there is the martial arts armas learned in the military... again modern human weapon based

important note: Before trying to teach the goblins things that are not strictly a "modern human weapon" but merely periphery to it (aka, martial arts based on the use of said weapons) we should first clear the prospect with the sometimes merchant. We cannot risk accidentally breaking our word... Perhaps we should arrange special training sessions where we present new subjects for them to approve / disapprove.

Hmm, do you remember when our caged one fragment met Lenryt and was terrified?
One must ask what he saw.

This brought me back to a few key concepts
-The caged one is asleep
-hence all the caged one fragments we see must be, to an extent, dream projections.
-When Ulzrick saw Bang with ~DREAM VISION~ he saw a writhing mass of tentacles and chaos, to an extent, Bang's inner form.

This leads me to believe that The fragment saw Lenryts true form, in all her horrible glory. No facades, none of her masks we always see, but her true form.

Of course I could be going about this in a roundabout way because it is totlly plausable that planet eaters can normally see true forms anyway, but It sort of clicked in my head so I thought I would mention it.

If true, this brings up several interesting options for interacting with the caged one.

Also it would be fun to visit his dream, and find out what it actually is. If his dream truely is the planet.

Also it would bring up interesting options for world-dream magic combos. I figure that as long as you understand what the caged one is and that it is asleep, you can pull some real shenanigans.

I would like to remind you how their reproduction worked.
Valkonen is the main family. There are 3 branch families (or rather, WERE, they are gone now). Those born without magic go into branch families, branch families breed with strong outsiders. Main family marries only powerful individuals within the branch families.

Although you are right, family did just get a more interesting with that revelation... especially considering that before we were limited to "head strongly disapproves of premarital sex"... Actually that would totally explain the condoms. No pregnancy, no evidence.

Also.. wrong thread. This is golemquest discussion.

Hmm, to claim more cores for the Eden network, Mordre probably needs to insert the spawn of Yamanatos and then Ridfanre into the core. Due to their nature I think they would have unique use spawn like Bobobo. It might take a pristine soul, though, to restructure the core into an heaven until Mordre gains competency in soul magic.

He could likely do the same thing with Timmy too. Timmy is already restructured into a heaven by Lu Bu, so it would probably be easier.
