That shit actually happens all the time. You've broken almost every bone in your body at least once, some of them multiple times. This is actually your fourth house, and it was struck by lightning just the other day. You only just now got power back, and your refrigerator exploded.
You're pretty sure that nothing ever kills you because then your life wouldn't be able to suck any more.
You don't really think that the horn is the cause of your curse, just another representation of it. You tried to saw it off with a handsaw when you were a kid, but you couldn't really get leverage and the horn came out without a scratch.
Come to think of it, it's pretty much the only part of you that's never broken.

The only thing like that at all would probably be Pavane.
You have no idea about any sort of magical objects, the only sort of 'magic' you know of is curses, and the only way they seem to occur is by you owning something for long enough.

Oh, it does. After the tornado destroyed the warehouse where the Feed the Homeless Foundation was storing food, you stopped working for charities.
Bad things don't necessarily happen TO people around you, but sometimes the things that happen to you are a big enough deal to hurt them too.

You don't own a computer.
---
That isn't an answering machine light, it looks like your phone accidentally went on silent somehow.
Instead of checking your answering machine, you decide to answer your phone.
>'Hi, Galliard! Did you win?'
Oh. It's Pavane.
'Nah, got an envelope with a big 'not a winner' message and everything. It's not like I expected to win anyway, the chances of winning are like one in three million.'
>'Aww, that's a shame. I was really hoping we'd be able to go on the trip together.'
There's some sort of low thumping sound, but it quickly passes.
'Ah, so you won it? Congratulations.'
>'Yeah, the guy from the Friendly Contest Conglomerate just came by with my ticket. I was so excited I decided to call and see if you won, too!
The thumping is back. It's louder now, sounds like it's coming from the door.
In fact, it IS coming from the door.
