You are Galliard Rashamon. You are in business as a purveyor of ill fortune, a product which you have in ample supply and are eager to be rid of. Unfortunately for you, there simply is not much demand for shitty luck.

Another boring day of no business has been going by in your Emporium of Ill Fortune and Assorted Cursed Antiquities (most of which became cursed due to your being in possession for an extended period of time), and you are considering closing early. You don't expect your one consistent customer to appear today anyway.

'No ... dammit. It's fine. I'm fine. Listen. Coranto was up there with me, and when I went back up he was gone. I think he fell off the ship.'

>'What?! I'm pretty sure he was just in his quarters. I'll go back and make sure, and if not we'll descend and send out someone to look for him. If you're okay, you need to get back to your room. Things are going kind of crazy here, and you need to get out of here either way.'

"And my day was going so well, too."

Go get some proper clothing on, then return to Pavane's room.
Actually, just pack up everything and move into her room. You can crash on her couch or something, and if things get really bad you'll be there to tell her "I told you so". Or, you know, be able to help mitigate the disaster instead of being an ass about it.
Or, more importantly, being there so she doesn't need to worry about hypothetical bad things happening to you while the ship is in chaos.
(Also? Your room sucks, and she likes offsetting your luck.)

You make to follow the man to check on Coranto, but he quickly ushers you out of the area that you aren't supposed to be in.

Since you're right there, you decide to stop by your room and put on some actual clothes, as well as quickly packing your things. The ship is starting to go pretty damn crazy at this point, rocking back and forth as it continues to climb.

The PA chimes in while you are getting dressed:

>'Attention all passengers: There is an emergency on the ship. All passengers should proceed to their rooms and remain there in case lifeboats need to be engaged. Every effort is being made to regain control of the situation, but your safety is our absolute priority.'

Well shit.

You quickly select a brightly-colored shirt, gather your things, and head off toward Pavane's room. Almost immediately after you leave your room, you hear another loud CRACK and a crashing sound coming from your room. You opt not to bother checking, figuring it's best to hurry on to Pavane's.

As you round the corner, the ship pitches violently off toward the stern. You manage to keep your balance, but lose it as a chair careens out of the dining hall and crashes straight into your ribs.

The PA comes on again.

>'The storm has continued to worsen, and we have not been able to regain control of the ship. The decision has been made to abandon ship. Lifeboats are being readied, and can be accessed from the hatches in your rooms. Please proceed to them in an orderly fashion and await rescue. The craft should contain enough supplies for a week, and a rescue craft should be by once we fail to make a call at the appointed time.'

Given that the PA said that they didn't have control of the ship, you're pretty sure the turtle isn't capable of ANY sort of landing right now.

You make your way up the stairs. This entire deck is soaked, probably with the water from the pool. As you make your way toward Pavane's room, the crazed bucking of the ship seems to lessen slightly, but it feels almost like some sort of rumbling sensation is building up as you go.

When you reach the hallway before Pavane's room, she's already outside of her door with a towel over her bathing suit.

Since the floor seems to still be the floor that means they're keeping it mostly level. If it COULD float then hitting the water while level would be how it would do it.

Since you're not having trouble touching the floor it's obviously not an uncontrolled descent.

You dive to catch Pavane, dropping your bag as you jump. You catch hold of her hand just as the both of you careen through the recently exploded door.

It looks like something exploded and took out a large portion of this chunk of the ship. Much of what remains of this room is smoldering, but below you the side of the ship seems to be ripped open directly to the ominous black clouds. Apparently the turtle has been ascending more quickly than you thought.

If you were a second faster you'd have been cut in half. That's how incompetent this guy is.

Go search for another escape pod. There have to be some un-launched pods on this deck. Right?

Oh, who am I kidding. Head to the bridge. They'll either be gone or have an escape pod you can use. If they're gone then try to fuck everything up as much as possible so you can either call fate's bluff or die in the most spectacular way possible.

You really don't feel like jumping out of the ship. With as bad as your luck is, you figure it's probably not a very good idea to tempt fate by doing things that are deliberately suicidal.

You rush back down the hall, but can't find any unlaunched pods. Unable to find any, you decide to head to the cabin. Even if the escape pods are gone, you can probably still use the console for something.

That's the part you're hoping to avoid.

And, you know, the whole 'dying' thing. The moment you take it for granted is the moment it'll bite you in the ass. Just like everything else.

It looks like there is an escape pod still here on the left! It seems like there's something wrong with the door, but peeking through it looks like everything is fine inside. The pilots probably both took the other pod when this one malfunctioned, since the one across the room has launched already.

>>406311

You are currently ON the bridge, and judging by the state of the console there's not going to be much controlling going on at all.

You can't find a refrigerator big enough to hide in. There is probably a storage box with some supplies in the unlaunched escape pod, that's as close as it gets.
