Another reference. We really need to try and find out exactly how those fit into this world: histories, echoes, or what have you. If we can work out how they relate to the world then by extension we get a better feel for where we stand. Maybe get some clues as to what all the code stuff is along the way, so we can give a more useful headsup to Player.

We should also ask for more stuff on the kitty goddesses. We know of three now, perhaps we can engage with some of the others by interacting with people currently under their 'domain' like how this girl is dying. If we actually manage to be polite for once, we might be able to fill in gaps left after asking the mortal crowd.

We can do both.. I mean.. obviously this world needs some considerable reorganization if an angry man with a spider and a hologram machine can threaten it.

I mean just look at that command code... very sloppy way to handle your metaphysics if you ask me, at least slap a GUI on it or something. And cats? who puts cats in change of anything? No, no, no, this just will not do.

We learned a few things.

A) Demons aren't supposed to be able to use wormholes and teleport like that.
B) The gods aren't going to help us.
C) We can't help the half-demon girl. She's done for.

No, we met a couple of evil cats. Apparently, they want to kill this girl because she knows way too much, and they won't help us because they want a war to happen. They basically said it'll be less work for them. They also said it'll be amusing to them as well.

We met some of those Kitty goddesses you mentioned. Some of us were screaming dickholes, one of them was pretty standoffish, end result wasn't exactly ideal.

They seemed confused that the demons could pull off that whole teleporting thing, and one of them quoted that song, the bit about the flock that couldn't work together, at us.

>>132316
Well your deities are douchebags. So we intend to set you up in their place.

But before that we need to come up with a fast as fucking hell plan to save the girl. Inky is planning to let her die any moment now, and that little fuck can't be allowed to have things go as planned. So you're going to have to spill some blood because now it's come to desperation tactics with strange rituals. That or a blood transfusion, which you might get to work if you can get two hollow needles and a plastic tube from Miss K right away.

We met the Kitty Goddesses responsible for unweaving souls from the dead, and asked for help in talking to or saving the girl.

We managed to only frustrate the one who was talking to us, what with our mass of voices that talk all the time, occasional crazy random nonsense, and how we receive information in bursts.

We couldn't work out a deal because she didn't care about people dying, and she was kindof a bitch about it and so a lot of us got REALLY PISSED.

Well, we made a rival of death's handmaiden and learned that deamons should not have access to this kind of power. Also, they claim that the girl's wounds are lethal and she 'will' die son if they do their job correctly.

Also, some of us would like to know more about the cosmology of this land as it seems to be run rather more sloppily than most worlds we are familiar with. More loopholes and exploitable backdoors into the metaverse, we may want to see if we can kill two birds with one stone and remove this dangerous power from the deamon's hands.. as well as seeing what we can't do about some metaphysical reorganization.

Once again, slowly.

A) We need a quick rundown on the Gods of this world. We just met the two gods of Death, and we didn't have a fun time with them.

B) The aforementioned gods of death? They're in the process of killing the half-demon girl right now. You can let her die or you can do anything you can think of to try to preserve her life.

C) Remember how Charlotte and her mother showed up back in the dungeon? That's something the demons/tallists/whatever are not supposed to be able to do. They might be getting ready for a war.

At this point if we have nothing else to throw at the situation she will die. Now mind it that currently I would love nothing more than to thwart death just a little longer, but until we gain rather more direct power I am not keen on going back on the other side of death's veil to do things directly. The Kitty Watcher threatened us rather explicitly and while I do not fear her power to end us, she 'could' sever our current link to this world, rendering the Orb little more than a rather gaudy crystal bauble, which would suck for you and annoy us to no end.
>>
No. 132830 ID: 2eac65

Not quite. She hasn't died yet. As long as there is life, there is hope.

I'm not sure what to do now, though. I doubt they have hypodermic needles at this tech level, so a blood transfusion would be difficult.
>>
No. 132831 ID: 2eac65

And healing magic won't work on her, because she's part demon...

What about suspended animation? If we can stop or slow her metabolism somehow, she might be able to hold out until we find someone who can heal her properly.

Alternate idea: the other slaves might still have some blood left in them. We could retrieve their dead bodies and transfer the blood to her.
>>
No. 132834 ID: 8ecfd4

>>132826
Well pretty much all other options are out. Unless you can come up with some dark magic ritual in the next 5 minutes then a blood transfusion is pretty much all I can think of. She needs blood directly into her veins.

>>132830
Miss K might have them. She seems to have alot of rather high tech stuff.

>>132831
Both of those could work. But a decently clever healer should have come up with the suspended animation part already. And the corpses of the others are still in the dungeon.

But if they haven't tried suspended animation yet then we should see if it's possible.

Sorry Player. We just couldn't convince the kitty goddesses to intervene.

I don't know why everyone's so upset about that, though. Even if we -had- managed to convince them to revive the tallist girl, she'd still be suffering from Deficiency Of Goddamn Everything once they -stopped- helping. That wormhole thing drained far more than blood, Player. According to Inky, it also did a number on levels, sanity, tissue, everything.

This is pretty callous, I know, but without divine assistance she might be better off dead even if we COULD nurse her back to health.

And even with it...I don't think they would have kept her alive for a long time, Player. Enough for you to get some information out of her, and maybe enough for her to a live a little, but...It's not a death god's business to keep a mortal alive. More the opposite, which some of us just can't seem to grasp.

Admittedly, Inky was far too impatient for us to properly explain our case, but you'd sooner see pigs fly than a cat admit fault and it's not like we were all roses with her and Amanda either.

*sigh*

It sucks, but that's death for you. Sorry we couldn't do more, Player. We -were- told that the box thing looked like a "trigger" of some kind, though. It's likely it's a tool to indicate when and where to send stuff, and what to drain to power the process...Which means the main force behind it could lie elsewhere, in House Darkhope lands.

I'm not at all sure there's a 'war' coming, like some, but something clearly -is- up in this dungeon. I hope you're still up for crawling around there, Player. Maybe you'll run across something else that can help explain what's going on, and still earn your silver in the process.

>>132828

Answers can probably be found deeper in the dungeon.
>>
No. 132838 ID: 86b644

We should fetch Miss K. This seems to be largely a lost cause by typical medical standards, but she seems to know quite a few handy things.

If we want to keep this girl alive at all costs, you can forcibly prevent death of any body that isn't cut to ribbons by mechanically ventilating and moving her blood, basically give her CPR. Miss K might be able to get something to either do that after we tire, or get some superior medicine that can fix up the body so that it can take over again.
>>
No. 132839 ID: 135d9a

Y'know actually these guys have a point. If there's anybody who's at enough of an apparent technological disconnect from the rest of your world to have something to keep somebody alive after grievous injury, it'd be your friend with the pink hair.

... Although it's sort of a long shot to think she'd have something useful on short notice. Still, better than nothing?
>>
No. 132840 ID: 7857d9

>>132835

Its not so much that they didn't help, its that they didn't care, and in fact, mocked us over how much them mortals were fucked at the end. And "impatient" is a rather kind definition for the level of callousness Inky showed.

Regardless, with the girl...well, I dunno what we're gonna do. She's on the way out, and we'd need some rather drastic medical techniques to change that. She's going to die of Multiple Organ Failure, which means she WON'T survive without aid. She'd need an IV, constant respiratory and circulatory management, and surgery, and even then she'd have more than a 30 percent chance of dying. Id like nothing more than to somehow save her from deaths clutches, as I think that would satisfy my own desire to one up those two, but at the level your society is at, some form of magic is about the only chance she has, AT ALL.
>>
No. 132841 ID: 7857d9

Eh, This sucks; to put it mildly. I thought we were supposed to turn to the gods in case of desperation... it's hard to think someone is better off dead.
Eh, Idunno. Sad, disappointed, annoyed -- I definitely don't feel good.

>blood transfusion
I see. Yea. Because mixing a demon's blood with someone else's is really a good idea. Nothing could go wrong with that.

>suspended animation
No, shoving her in ice would kill her.
I think you mean 'stasis', but that's stuff of legends. Like, there's a square built around some piece of a dragon 'in stasis' in Central X.

>Miss K
>IV, constant respiratory and circulatory management, and surgery
... well Sun is the resident medic, but that sounds rather awfully complicated. Are you sure of that?

... if the Twin Death is already on her case and we keep her... could they take her soul even if she still breathes? Would that count as really being alive?

Why whenever I have you I get philosophical? I wasn' thinking any of this when she had you.

>I thought we were supposed to turn to the gods in case of desperation...
Yeah that only works when your gods have empathy, which is not typically a trait of psychopomps. (EXCEPT ONES THAT TALK IN SMALL CAPS, but you wouldn't know anything about that.)

Unless you know how we can get in direct contact with any gods who are a little more willing to work with us, there's probably nothing to be gained from going this route.

>that sounds rather awfully complicated. Are you sure of that?
As sure as we are of anything, I'd imagine. We still haven't really worked out all the rules of your world, y'know.

>Why whenever I have you I get philosophical? I wasn' thinking any of this when she had you.
We're trying to at least attempt to cut our losses here, basically. You've got to try something, unless you just want to completely give up on this. But from the sound of it you're about as likely to give up as we are.
>>
No. 132861 ID: 86b644

>>132855

I would suspect that the twins taking her even while she still really lives would be breaking some sort of rule of their function, killing her before she's dead as it were. At the very least, it can't hurt to try, and if she seems to be stable and living but not really there you can always put us back on her to go in and take a peek.
IV and surgery seems a little risky, at least here, but taking over breathing duties and mechanically forcing blood round her system is doable albeit draining. It gives extra life time for the body to recover by itself, or for us to allow healing remedies to repair it.

At this point not only is it a last ditch effort to learn more about what's going on, it's also an interesting test of some of the boundaries on how the kitties interact with the mortal world.
>>
No. 132863 ID: 8ecfd4

>>132855
No it's not really a good idea. It's a desperate idea for a desperate occasion. We need some way to make sure that she doesn't die.

As suspended animation seems out of the window I come down to dark ritual or blood transfusion. I don't think the transfusion will work but unless you happen to know how to call on demonic assistance or other dark powers that's about the only option left open. Or you could attempt to activate the box and hope for the best.
>>
No. 132870 ID: 632862

>>132855
No, let's not interfere with the Twin Deaths' work. They said she was good as dead. In fact, she's dying of multiple organ failure, which can't really be fixed with anything short of a transplant, and SANITY LOSS. We definitely can't fix her mind.
>>
No. 132880 ID: 7857d9

Transplants aren't required, it just means that the body needs assistance in reaching homeostasis before it can even consider healing itself.

MODS just means it needs a SHITTON of help to achieve this, dependent on how many organ systems are failing, over a period of time. Thats with 21st century medicine, however. We might as well ask Ms. K what kinda neat toys she has, cause the only other hope for it is Magical Healin

Bullshit, we can't fix her mind! That's the easiest part to fix. Or at least the most likely to craft into something that we'd prefer to have around.

Anyway, if worst comes to worst, would it possibly be easier to make her stop being a demon and turn her into something that'll take healpots? Or is that particular case uncurable?
>>

>>132904
Wait...
WAIT! This voice makes a very good point. Maybe we've been looking at this all wrong. Since her demonic nature has been the primary block to any form of magical healing, lets roll with what we know: It's possible to revert a tallist to human via purification. Now, admittedly, Sun only knew of one method: Purification through faith over extended time.

But could we find a way to revert her quickly, just enough that we could use conventional holy magic for the healing process? This is a way we have not looked into thoroughly enough, I think.

Call me crazy, but I think we shouldn't cross the streams here. As much as I want to stick it in Inky's face that she isn't going anywhere, we're running on speculation on this point. What I think Player needs for us to do at this time is give him some proper suggestions.

Like for example, go to Kay's, get her help to keep her stable, then take her to the church and have them do their faith-y pray-ey stuff. It's not a lot to go for, but it's the best bet we have in order to keep her alive while we dungeon crawl for any cure we can find.

>pray
... I really don't know who to. The second witnesses always taught that the Angels can protect and build, but could never do things like healing the sick or anything. I guess that's why the churches have people like Sun, now that I think about it.

>Phoenix down, Explain
"Not were, are.
Allright, look; a phoenix down is kind of a white powder with brown specks, I think its refined mostly from hemp and two or three other plants. You prepare by diluting into alcohol -- sugarcane alcohol only; high-proof firewaters like cachaça can do the job -- and deliver to the bloodstream via wound.
Usually you dip or sink a blade into the mix, and cut or stab the patient to make the delivery. Physician 's daggers are perfect for this, since they're very thin and very long -- minimal entry wound, deep penetration. Seconds later the patient is up and ready to fight, even if for a little while. Going berserk for a few minutes after application is normal.
But a phoenix down is only good against shock or unconsciousness, and neither are the case here and now."

>touch the red chick's tit, For science
You have a pretty crazy sense of properness to be suggesting me to grab the nicely firm chest of an attractive half-dead demoness....
Now I'm thinking about it. Fuck. You.

Alright, Player, you want something else to think of? I got it.

First, we find a way to ascend you to godhood. That's fucking right, you become a god. Who cares which one, you just are one.

Then, you gain mastery over time and space. Simple step, you're already a god, shouldn't be so hard.

After that, you travel back in time to this point and you save the fuck out of that chick. Again, you're a god, this won't be so hard.

Then she wakes up and immediately falls in love with you for saving her life, maybe after comically hitting you over the head with a heavy object as she realizes she's topless.

...Now at least you aren't thinking solely about her breasts.

Fine, you're right. That was inappropriate. Just lick her nipples, then blow cold air on them to see if they still get stiff. That'll show if she's still alive. Remember to do it with both nipples.

0_o erh... that's not creepy at all.

>>133786
Erm.. anyhow... sorry when we were talking about a 'phoenix down' we were referring to a feather from an actual phoenix... the bird's resurrection properties are rumored to carry over to at least a great healing power in the feathers.

>>133802
If that happens it probably would have already happened. Somehow I doubt that time travel powers are part of our endgame package.
>>
No. 133834 ID: 3a4a54

Huh. That's actually cool to know.

Anyway, usually in worlds such as these, there is something you can use to resurrect people. Phoenix feathers, defibulators (not recommended in reality, it's pretty much like tapping a stopped watch to see if it'll work), perhaps a spell (since people are breaking the laws of reality already, why not?). Stuff like that.

You seem to have a rather extensive knowledge about military supplies and tactics. Were you in some army, or perhaps a parent?

It's a thought exercise.
Besides, if you imagine this as the "first pass" through this particular moment, then there is no future version of Player yet to become a god and travel backward in time.

(Of course, then you get into denial of the existence of destiny and other complicated crap, but you get the idea.)

Nice to know you've got a pulse. :B

>phoenix down
Innnnnteresting. Maybe our medically-oriented ideas have some chance yet, if it comes to that, and we just need to find the right terminology.

>unconscious
Hey, wait a minute.

Dude. Maybe you just botched the word choice here or something, but... isn't she unconscious [i]right now[i]?

Well, anyway. Until Sun shows up with Miss K I guess you just get to listen to us bouncing ideas off of you.
>>
No. 133976 ID: 3a4a54

I'm pretty sure she's unconscious, but

A) We don't have a phoenix down
B) She'd be in a berserk state if she was roused awake.
C) I'm pretty sure no one wants to be up to that sort of pain.

A thought:
Is there any magic that can be used to fix objects? White type holy healing magic is largely incompatible with her as a demon, but item restoration should be a neutral thing. If we can fix the box plugged into her it might help stabilise the situation on a more long term basis, giving her time to recover.

Okay, you do have a point about her being unconscious. I'm still not sure if its a good idea, I was taught to only use on fresh casualities. I never really questioned if there's a medical reason for that.

Eh.... I remember stories about yggdrasy's leaves being able to wake the dead, but that's just it; stories.

I do not fault the powers of death for merely doing their jobs. Such is the way of things, there are assuredly worse fates to be found.

However, such blatant arrogance and disdain as found in the one called Inky... that.. that will not do!

Well, lets be honest here. We don't really want to try and bring her back for some noble purpose. We want to bring her back to PISS OFF A GOD OF DEATH. ...getting useful information would be a nice side effect, though.

What we should do is go back to the dungeon. If there's a way to bring her back, we'll find it. If there isn't, then at least we can stop the demons from making any more victims like her.

huh?

I was thinking that we literally become legion... except inside an orb instead of a human.

I mean, we learn a few tricks with our soon to come demon friends and suddenly, we get to take over other demon bodys when we steal their souls...

And we purify demons into good demons... or something...

then whup Inky's ass...
other cat seems to be nice enough, so we leave her be...

And all shall be well in the world...
