Two weeks ago, your parents passed away.
One and a half weeks ago, you inherited their fortune.
Three days ago, you hitched a ride on the elven caravans from the Capital all the way back to your hometown, Belos.
Today, you live in Belos' orphanage, located in the slums.

This moment, you're standing just outside the orphanage. The sun beats down on you from the sky relentlessly, with little to no clouds existing for cover. It's sweltering, but you still have to go draw some water from the well. The problem is, you have no idea where the well is.

Before you do anything, though, would you like to engage in interactive character creation (the sequence possibly lacking most art)?

I. Yes
II. No

Could be the 3rd son/daughter of a lesser noble house. 1st born son inherits the house, first born daughter is married off, second born son is given to the military, third born is given over to the clergy. So maybe it's an orphanage run by the church? Idk just speculation.

>Result: (3/3/3/3, 20, 100, 100, Hero Mode) Physically Weak, Charming, Spirited
Sweet and naive, you are a noble orphan girl named Haru with an optimistic demeanor, shining reputation, and a charming smile.
Your sheltered upbringing often leads to obliviousness on your part, though, and often people take advantage of your kindness.

>You review the recent events with new knowledge in light.
It's a troubled time for the realm of Aoich.
Political and economic alliances are crumbling like stale biscuits. All that will be left are frequent and bloody battles. You do not know the exact details of how it occurred, but in just a few days you saw your parents destroyed by debts, or at least that is what you assume.
The guards came and took everything after the funeral. You were left with only a huge empty castle in the Capital. You sold that, too, before they could take it away from you.
A distant relative of your noble household wanted you to come with them to the northern country, Viktoria, but you were born in Aoich, and in Aoich you will stay. So, reluctantly, you separated from all ties. At the ripe age of fifteen, you spent what money you had inherited to go far back east to your early hometown, Belos...
...though, now you have something that wealth cannot buy: freedom. Freedom to do what you wish for the rest of your life.

>You turn your attention back to current matters.
About that water, though, first. You have a few options.

I. Try to find it on your own. Belos is large, but not too large, and you're sure that you could point out the distinct shape of a well, if you try hard enough and walk far enough... maybe?
II. Ask one of the people you know for directions. There's Kyou, but you've only spoken like once, and he's probably busy teaching kids how to aim at the archery targets in the northern slums. Then, there's Akane, your best friend from when you were kids. She knows lots about Belos, but she can't go with you on a normal route to the well, since she has a bounty over her head. She might not take you suddenly coming back too well, either.
III. Something else. Maybe you could ask someone else to get the water from the well since it's for the orphanage, or negotiate with a merchant for water canteens, or... hmm...

II. You're a people person, winning them over and getting help is what you're good at.

Let's go see your one time best friend. I'm sure you can bring her around. (And a criminal contact is a good first step to adventure, and to sneaky investigation).

3) if it's for the orphanage, someone from there is going to give you directions because it's your daily chore. You can't get it done if you don't know where it is so they will tell you.

II. Talk to Akane. She's going to find out you're back sometime, and better that she doesn't think you avoided telling her, right? I'm sure you're the can't-stay-mad-at type.

To speed updating up a little bit, I'm going to make the art a bit more simple (just for a little bit, hopefully).

>II. Talk to Akane. She's going to find out you're back sometime, and better that she doesn't think you avoided telling her, right? I'm sure you're the can't-stay-mad-at type.

Even if she might be mad, you're friends, right? After a while of consideration between going back inside to ask for directions and going to ask Kyou or Akane, you finally decide to go speak with Akane. It's been seven or so years after all.

Heading down the slope into the deeper slums, you step on the creaking boards of wood nailed over water. Woven blankets flutter in the breeze above you like foliage, beams of sunlight flooding in the small spaces that aren't covered by fabric.

Eventuallly you make it to the shabby, dilapidated shack that she calls her home - or at least, did. You're not even sure if she still lives here. You rap on the door sharply with your knuckle.

A girl taller than you with familiar red hair and green eyes is the one to open it. As soon as you enter her peripheral, a blush colors her cheeks and the tips of her ears, and her tough expression changes to one of surprise.

"....Haru?"

I feel we shouldn't so much rachet up the charm as be ourselves. This isn't someone we're trying to manipulate so much as re-establish relationships with. That said, we are apparently very charming. :P
