This the Guardian. He is proud of his title and his responsibilities and thinks he is the best protector around! Which would make sense since he is the only one. However, he has found himself in quite the predicament. That being that he is currently skewered on the tip of a spire.

Oh no, not at all. Tori is quite the charming fellow. Quite charming indeed...Hmmn....

>>535645

Tori is very sensitive about his gender. Scientist 0 would like to let you know that he finds being called a 'chick' very very insulting. Scientist 0 would like to also add that he will not accept gender prejudices in his lab. That's impolite. So what if he was born with a vagina and boobs?

Be courteous!

To inform of the situation, Tori is very sick and everyone is trying to win him over on their plan for their creations. The ones for artificial intelligence say it will keep him alive longer, but he really just wants to stick to the natural ways.

So they end up arguing a lot in his defense.

>>535709

Tori cut his hair himself. So it is unusually messy. Scientist 0 apologizes if they look the same. That wasn't intentional. The film must just be really sloppy and quick to make them look alike.

Apologies for being less than delicate about gender and gender-role issues, but I thought we were dealing with a possible emergency situation. You implied there's a serious conflict here, which in my mind usually means a conflict with the potential for violence which may escalate to (or already have become) plausibly-lethal. Motivations for that kind of thing tend to be simple and/or primal at their root, like dominance games, resource competition, and mating urges.

So apparently this isn't a violent situation but Tori is a "variable" in a not-so-academic ideology argument; one which may yet become violent but hopefully won't. What are your goals and what's stopping you from achieving them, or haven't you figured out your goals yet?

Tori has explained to Scientist 0 that this is because 1) they need to be able to reproduce to continue on their society 2) perhaps his creation would not feel the same way about herself and 3) it's what his mother would have wanted.

Oh.
Oh.
Well.
....Maybe....

>>537033

The situation can still escalate to violence incredibly fast. The leader of the other group is a very violent and self-absorbed woman. He wouldn't put it past her to do something vile to get what she wants

As for his goals, he'd like to...confess how he feels... And obvious things are stopping him from achieving that. He'd hate to be depressed for his last days. He's already stressed.

Establish peace among their lab for their final days.

And finally, live long enough to enjoy that delicious last meal with everyone.

EVERYONE.

NO ONE WILL DIE YET.

You all sound like you have some incredible sexual tension.
Have you tried orgies? Or is that just too awkward for you all? Maybe just get everyone a blowup doll or something. At least you should try your best to get your head scientist into BDSM so that she doesn't do anything based on her unsatisfied violent urges. No one wants to bone her and I bet she be real jelly of Tori.

This voice is overly blunt but many people find that sex drive is both a cause of and a relief for stress.
Aside from that nudism is also usually equalizing because many people invest totemic significance and aggression in particular clothing. If that's a factor, and it likely is, your little post-disaster society would be carrying social-significance baggage (like class/tribal aggression and structural violence) that it could shed and abandon.
It may be past time for this however if things have gotten sufficiently tense that you would be hiding from unidentified other people though.

How often do you meet with each other in a setting like a round-table or a dinner ritual where you are all present? We can't exactly get the dimensions on a social conflict without understanding the social scene and what degree you are an unreliable witness; we don't even know if you're autistic or socially inept and therefore potentially seeing an issue that doesn't exist.

>>540081

He replies that he would love company. But he had come to find Scientist 0 because he had something to tell him. He knows he doesn't have long. And he fears what scientist 1, 2, 3 and 4 will do once he's gone. He wants to talk to Scientist 0. He is afraid.

He doesn't know what he wants from his final days. He wanted everyone to be happy here before death but that doesn't seem possible now. His whole life he only wanted to find love and happiness and now that he's dying it seems he won't get the chance.

Tori chokes back tears and shakes his head. He explains that all that matters now is getting their creations complete.

Well, Tori... if we can get at least his creation to run on a natural soul like he wanted, wouldn't technically have his consciousness continue on and keep living? He could find love and happiness still, it's just his current body that's dying. If, we could like, get the perspective we have into a the bodies...

but Tori's a transman and wouldn't want to be in Inventor would he? ... so like maybe he wants to be in Guardian? You'll take Inventor, gender never really matter to you. Maybe it'll be a fun difference. That is if, like, we do actually have the conciousness/soul transfer thing dictating personality.

Well, actually, why don't we just do this ahead of time. Tori, maybe we should secretly put her in Guardian and just have everyone else grow their personalities. Would he like that? The debate's gone, Tori can live on and find happiness, in the body of a man even, and I guess the rest of us just have to deal with each other's shit until the final dinner.

So is that a big no on the "Give Gaurdian to Tori" plan? Because seriously, he is giving a big opening. Wants to die, wants to be a man, etc.

I am completely serious. Think about it.
Do the soul transfer if he wants to right now and we just keep it on the downlow like everything regular happened. We can later make the soul or AI decision later.

Let him finally make a choice here. He'll live on, just the way he wants. He'll find happiness, everything. The only difference is that he won't have memories of his time here, and that's okay. It's good to start anew. It's just restarting life. We don't know how the afterlife works that well for humans right? Well, we can control where this soul goes before he dies man.

Come on ASK HIM! Do something great for your crush. Not just a hug, something practical.

As sad as it is, maybe the best thing you can do for Tori now is to grant his wish. All the two of you have to look forward to is a awful, political dinner, anyway. Just take whatever decision he has and let him go. After all, you'll still be there, together, in the next life. Maybe your creation will have a better chance at romance. Right now, your chances are pretty bleak.

Well. It DOES sound like a good idea. He brings it up with Tori. But Tori shakes his head and denies it. He worked hard on his creation and he wouldn't want to shove his personal comforts onto either creations, really. He fears that if his soul went into the Guardian, the Guardian may feel the discomforts of wanting to be female instead of male. He would prefer it that if any creation were to have to deal with gender issues it would be his own. Plus his mother would have wanted him to be in the female body. He would like to respect her at least in his time of dying.

Scientist 0 sighs and nods.

"Okay."

His stomach twists as he agrees to Tori's wishes.

"But just one thing."

He pulls Tori in for a gentle short kiss, trying to muster all of his conflicting feelings into it. It lasts for just a moment, but when they separate they're both crying.

It's time.

Scientist 0 leads Tori over to the table, plugging him up to the transferring machine. They locks eyes for another moment, both expressing unsaid words.

Scientist 0 puts his hand on the lever and just as he starts to push down...

Scientist 1 runs in with the rest of the others in tow, screaming something or other about a traitorous murderer.

If he feels like you should die for "killing" Tori, then tell them to have you "killed" in the same way. You can't do the body energy swap thing by yourself, right? As he thinks this, Scientist 2 comes back with tears in eyes and knife in hand. The observers that have been fearfully watching for the entire time just shy away from it, not knowing how to react.

Scientist 0 seriously debates just killing them all and himself to end the nightmare. He's had enough of this.

He already ran away once, let's hope he isn't a spontaneous lion of courage now. Join Tori, 0. Shame your exit had to be so dramatic, but it couldn't be helped. You started a romantic, finish like one.

But if he comes at you with the knife, smack him with the Tray or something, hopefully that wont be so lethal, or he wont have the same terrible of luck of his sister and create more messy accidents.

Scientist 0 hooks himself up to the machine, done with the mess he had been surrounded with for the past several weeks. It's time to leave. He gives a short speech about leaving the rest of them alone and dying just as they wanted anyway.

But Scientist 2 doesn't seem content with this idea.

As scientist 0 starts to ease down into death he feels several sharp stabs of pain. When he looked down, he saw several stab wounds peppering his abdomen, obviously done by Scientist 2 in his rage.

Well there's nothing he can really do about that now.

You're thinking of engineers.

Scientists are much more passionate, ambitious, and generally egotistical people.

The only useful scientist is one that is capable of seriously treating the question of how to prove everything they believe is wrong and genuinely trying to do it. These are obviously *bad* scientists at best, and more likely are just shitty technicians.

Apparently you'll die from this transfer procedure yourself, but do you need medical attention just to survive long enough to complete it? If so we have to figure out how to prevent further attacks and stop your current bleeding as primary goals.
I have an idea how to stop the attacks but it's ethically questionable: Force your assailant into the process as well.

The Guardian doesn't know how to feel.

What did he just watch?

Who even is HE?

He's conflicted in all of the wrong ways and wonders why the Inventor had wanted to show him something so confusing and triggering.
>>
No. 550928 ID: 7fea89

To understand the conflict that was passed down to you.
Just as Scientist one attacked zero, only to be killed, did the Queen come after you hoping to make you a King, only to end up slain by what she had unleashed.
So I guess the question becomes what now? I figure the thing to do is go back to being a gaurdian, and maybe asking Inventor about the black thread ability and if it's a good idea to keep on using it.
>>
No. 550930 ID: 36c336

Because it's useful to understand the origins of the conflicts you're facing in order to deal with them practically. Knowing that your conflict with the other dolls is rooted in your creators having a severe case of cabin-fever making them just plain bugfuck cracked in the head explains an awful lot about how dumb and purposeless the conflict is.

Now knock it off with the stunned disbelief fakery! You've dealt with just as bad in this existence, so quit playing as though it's unbelievable and start acting on the knowledge you have. Now you know that any true and lasting peace will have to address the origins of your conflicts--namely inclinations to unreasonable and unrealistic ideas about the natures of your relationships with each other. That says an awful lot about what kinds of dialogue you should be having about this stuff.

There was Inventor with some odd device in her hands. It had green dashes that flashed with an unreal almost intimidating light.

"Please, Guardian," she starts to say, a serious tone to her usual light-hearted voice. "Help us die."

You've just be asked to do the exact opposite thing that you were built to do. You need to deny their notion and speak some sense into them before the following the same path as your creators. You're the GUARDIAN. This is your time to lead everyone into a world where no one else has to die, not head-first into all their graves.

She explains that this isn't her life to live. That her soul isn't even really hers. It was Tori's. And she doesn't feel right living on like this. She feels her purpose slipping away from her. Her will to live fleeting away. The rest of them (that are still alive) have agreed. But they promised they wouldn't do it unless the Guardian wanted to.

The Guardian is feeling very pressured and nervous about this all.
>>
No. 559849 ID: 53ba34

they need to perfect the old work first. you cannot let them leave nothing left. natural or artificial, you don't care where the soul comes from, but the next generation needs to be able to become self-sustaining.
>>
No. 559854 ID: 3bb36a

..."Sooo this isn't your life to live, and you're slowly unable to find reason to go on...And the others agree?
To be honest, I do not. Part of me wonders if it's from how much I've taken from you over the years. Another part thinks it foolish to take our own lives.
But honestly? If you really do find this life pointless, then that's your decision to make. The same for the others. Life or death at your own choice, if you feel so attached to us that you want to die together, then it seems to me what you really want is to be together, not to die."

She isn't even sure of what to do right now. She's so conflicted and confused. Part of her wants to end it. But the other part of her wants to try to survive. To be better than their creators. The Guardian's words really hit her hard and does make her rethink things. But what should she do? It doesn't feel right to keep living like this.
>>
No. 560539 ID: 379075

Well then, here's a possible change to consider:
It is a fact that we, the first generation, are carrying the seeds of cabin-fevered infighting amongst our creators. Clearly we should put aside our old division and unify society towards developing for the future. We must build and provide for those who come after us, ending when we are certain that we do not depend on any of the original generation to continue and thrive. At that point we may personally re-evaluate whether the suicidal urges of our current situation still have any meaning without unduly damaging others with self-centredness in the process.
>>
No. 560541 ID: 57a559

So don't
Do what you want girl
Be alive, but in a way that you like?
You think your options are so limited, but we have a whole world to explore, infinite things to learn and create. So much potential here.
We should clearly eat ALL of the potential.
Live like that. Why not? If you still feel it isn't right, well, why isn't it right? Like it's just a feeling in your gut? Did you steal something? Hurt somebody? I mean, who really decides if living your life is right? Is there this objective cosmic figure that has a scale of rightness to judge us on?

If he deemed it was right to go kill your best friend who did nothing wrong in his life, would you do it? Why? Why do the right thing for THAT guy?

She considers all of his words for a long time, silence filling the small room. Inventor hugs the cylindrical device towards herself and lets out an audible sigh.

"Well....Then what do we do now? What's the next step...?"
>>
No. 563843 ID: 57a559

There doesn't have to be a next step.
Let's just calm down, slow down, and not let existential concepts overwhelm us for a while. Just do nice enjoyable things I guess. Fun things. Things we really like to do.
>>
No. 568288 ID: 13ae83

The next step, Guardian, is that you give the Inventor a big hug. If you can't hug her with that giant cylinder she's holding, then you get her to put that thing down. The second step, then, is to sort out this bad blood. You don't really have a chance with the Queen anymore, since you, uh, kinda killed her, accidentally, but the Traveler's still around, and he seems like he's a nice enough fellow. The four of you can make this work, like how your predecessors should've done it. You can make things BETTER than they did. You aren't them. You have this second chance. Take it, and make the best you can of it.
