I think Eoghan deserves a bit better than sleeping on the floor tonight, though I guess he's probbably used to worse.
Ada doesn't seem to mind sharing a room with an exotic hunk, as she offered to sleep with him, actually.
And so, Eoghan will sleep with Ada, I'll sleep with Flora.
I instruct Eoghan to follow Ada's instructions, being nobility, he can't really refuse anything.
I'll send the letters tomorrow, father taught me ways to hide things in existing letters, and other methods of getting messages across through hostile terrain, I'll take care of it tomorrow morning.
And I don't really see the point on checking up on those 2 lovebirds, they're just minor nobles, and they're already getting married anyways.
I quickly crawl into bed with Flora, who is already sleeping, after shaking a faint temptation to use her as my personal teddy bear... slave.. I just decide to get some rest.
I feel she's softly hugging me, like her teddy bear though... I decide to just ignore it and get some sleep, she's probbably just dreaming anyways.
The following morning I write the letters, send 'em off and immediatly go and visit the local Lord. The rest of the gang is still asleep.
When arriving at his keep, I show my insignia and am led in. One of the royal guards mentions my share of Ing's assets has been calculated, and is being sent to the tavern as we speak.
After being told to wait for a while, I'm let into the Lord's chamber.
The man is tall, even for a norse man. He's wearing a golden crown decorated with gems, and is wearing a finely crafted outfit.
He eyes me up and stands up from his (massive) throne, and starts marching past me, slowly.
"Roanna Ragnvaldr... fifth heir to the throne..." he starts, "Responcible for little more than bringing her daddy a few pretties, and some occasional coins, in her careless adventures into his lands."
He pauses for a moment, and starts marching back and forth in front of me, "Yet, when you arrive at my town, you cause major unrest with a big feast, upset the nobility with stripping Ing of his title, somehow a statue of Lady Siv vanishes, and half the population can't work today because of a hang-over."
Stopping in his tracks he stands still and looks at me again;"I had to cover up Ing's arrest with accusations of treason and corruption, and set to work a sum of my soldiers to replace the working force that's laying in bed now, moaning about their headache."
After a moment he starts marching again: "You didn't think I wouldn't find out What Ing's been up to, after you made a spectacle out of his arrest like that, did you?"
"It's costing me a lot of money, and it could've costed my head had I not reassured the nobility. All because of your recklessness, just like your father."
I feel kinda bad.. father sometimes gave me speeches like this when he was really angry.."And that, child, is why you are most welcome in my town, whenever you wish to visit."
He breaks off his stern teacher act, and gives me a hug, "Such carelessness is what get's things done and is what gave me a job, I was growing terrible bored with all these boring, routine duties untill you came along."
"Thank you sir" I tell the lord as he lets me back down "You knew my father?"
"Knew him?" he chuckles, "I saved his life countless times! Damn fool never learned to watch his back!"
After catching up a bit with him, it becomes clear that he fought with my father during the wars.
His crown is because he's of the last royal family that ruled over these lands, he defected from what was left of it to join father, and for his loyalty he was allowed to keep his status, and was given a wealthy port town.
"A few man?" he asks, when I bring up the matter of an escort for myself and Ada and Flora. "How many are we talking, 200?"
"uh.. more like, I donno? 10?" I suggest, "I just need 1 or 2 men to watch my back for the last bit to Sigmund.
"Buying some steeds for your father ey?" He asks, so I tell him "And hopefully myself, sir."
"Well, I suppose I could spare some royal guards, they're my best men." His lordship tells me, "As long as you can feed them, they're on my paycheck."
"There was this old guard.. I think he fought with you and father-" I try to say, but am in interrupted, "Omarr".
"Sure, I guess? anyways, he was really helpfull, and seemed loyal. I'd like to ask you to have him keep an eye on things, in particular the affairs that involved Ing. We don't know if anyone was sharing his worshipping."
"Concider it done." the lord proclaims, and after some further idle chit-chat, I thank his lordship, and make my way out.
Is there anything left in town we want to do? purchase armor, food? clothes for the Eoghan?
