You wake up in you messy room, thirsty and pretty pissed off. By the light seeping through the curtains, you think it's morning... at least that would make sense, seeing as you did finally go to sleep at a reasonable time since hell knows when. You hear a lot of cars and other bullshit that never lets you sleep. And on top of that, the air's hot and dry as fuck.

Suggest an action.

You don't have a PIRATE HAT nor an EYEPATCH.

You open your room's door. You see the bathroom ahead, and the kitchen to the left, from where light seeps into the hallway. But you stop thinking about it when you're distracted by...

Oh my fucking Emperor, the SMELL. You almost throw up on the floor as you breathe in the horrid abomination which may have been breathable air at some point. You don't think you'll hold out for long, and refuse to take another breath of it.

You put on your shoes when something strikes you.
There's no one outside save from a truck or a bus occasionally strolling by, which was still enough to wake you up though. You know (and hate) this street enough to know that it's busy as fuck even this early.

You reconsider running away as the source is probably nowhere near your humble apartment.

You can't think of getting out of the building just yet, not without proper air filtering.
There might be a crowbar or something alike in the basement. You take the key and open the door. The air seems cleaner underground, and it refreshes the staircase as well. You make sure to close all windows you can too while at it.
Guess the whole building is pretty much bearable inside for now. You descend to look for a CROWBAR.
>>
No. 202600 ID: db5197

Your going to need a better mask. See if you can't find some charcoal and cotton balls. You could wear two ninja masks and stuff the space in between with them and it'll be more effective if it was some kind of poison gas or something.

Also, wet cloth works a lot better than dry cloth for filtering, but it'll make it harder to breathe.

It opens from your side yet again.

The basement is full of STUFF, and the CROWBAR is sure there if you take the time to look for it.

...if you had the time. Apparently, the window's broken.

Okay, seriously, find a well sealed room in the center of the building. A bathroom is good. Block the vents and the doorway with wet towels. Your city has just been gassed. The less you breathe of that stuff, the more likely you live. And the longer you wait, the more chance it has to dissipate or settle. The more of it you breathe, the more likely you are to join the other sad sacks in the city who used to be alive until they opened the window and took a deep breath.

Also, do you know of any of the other residents that might have worked as a carpenter or an electrician? Any kind of work where they would use a facemask to protect against hazardous materials.

Against a chemical agent? That's not going to be any more effective than the shirt mask, which is to say it'd just make the smell less noticeable.

No, what we need here is something that will actually reduce the amount of agent reaching his lungs. What we really need is a decent air detox system, but since we don't have the materials handy to do that we're going to have to fudge it.
Soak the shirt and breathe through that. The water will likely take some of the agent out of the air.

If it's good enough to protect against radeon and asbestos in the air it should be atleast a wee bit useful against whatever else is in the air now.

Now if we could identify what kind of gas it is we could probably come up with a better countermeasure. From the description so far it shouldn't be Chlorine, Chloropicrin, Phosgene(then it wouldn't smell bad) or Lewisite(which either shouldn't smell or shouldn't smell bad). Which leaves the possibility of it being pure mustard gas, in which case we have to find povidone-iodine before the burns start to show up.

>>202603
Could you describe the scent a bit more? Would be quite helpful.

He might be able to find a dust mask, but I really doubt he'll find anything better than that. A dust mask won't do much of anything to block things smaller than 10 microns, which makes them only partially effective against asbestos.
Even if he somehow found one rated as low as 0.1 microns it wouldn't do anything against Radon or other gasses because it's a mechanical filtration system.

What he needs is a moist filter and a bunch of activated carbon, but I don't think we're going to find much in the way of supplies around here.

Also: nb4 he's the one who dealt it.
