A cold day in a cold city. A lone man sits in quiet arrogance as he holds up his damaged sign. He has done so for quite some time, and has been ignored by many. Sometimes they toss in a couple of coins, sometimes they toss in some paper money, but, usually, he receives nothing.

Dimitri's inventory currently contains:

1. The pen from the main lobby.
2. The stamp from the current room.
3. A map of the mansion. This map was given to you by your friend. Said friend's father was part of the crew sent to inspect the mansion after the family's disappearance. It contains different notes that could be useful.

Ah, straight to the point. You're a bit young, but you've got some enjoyable qualities. Yes, our conversation currently has no purpose. You, however, have a purpose. You've come here for a reason. A dare, a bet, whatever it is I'm not particularly interested. What I'm interested in is this mansion. This old home has housed many guests. It's history contains many things I am interested in. Things that could be very useful to me.

I want you to find as much information as you can about the previous owner. Search all the rooms and collect everything you can. Once you've obtained everything, bring it to me. I'm only interested in the previous owner and what he did here, anything else you find you can keep for yourself. Even a child like you should have no problems with simply collecting information, yes?

Now, I'll do the polite thing and answer any questions you may have at this point, but I am running short on time. I've always enjoyed the number three, so I'll let you ask three questions. After that, I'm leaving. Now, is there anything you wish to know?

Here's a question, seeing as the first one was rather rude and should be disregarded.

So far, I'm getting the vibe that the information we find will be rather... unique, in regards to it's contents. Can we have some kind of assurance that whatever we learn, you'll let us leave safely? After all, if it's that important, it's not too strange to think you'd want to tie up any loose ends. Like, say, someone who knows too much?

You know, you'd think you would get the hint that maybe you should like, shut your mouth, or something. Don't go complaining when we get a bad end because of your incessant desire to poke around in sensitive matters.

Anyway, best to get started on this and not piss our hostess off any further.

Take the research documents with us, and continue through the door to the north. Maybe when we report back later, she can make sense of what we've found.

Keyword being "later". I doubt our hostess is in any mood to deal with us any longer, especially if the only thing we've found is some papers we don't even know are relevant.

And please, let's try not to dick around with factors that we have no desire to anger. To parrot the words of Dahlia, there are good ideas and there are bad ideas. And getting on the bad side of mysterious beings in a haunted mansion? That strikes me as a bad idea.

Oh my, looks like Dimitri found something!

It seems to be.... a journal of some form. The writing is extremely crude, almost child like. The sentences lack any formal structure and seem to be mostly random thoughts.

Dimitri flips through and reads certain bits.

"Don't get it. Clarissa promises to explain it all but she explains nothing at all."

"Other maids used knife. Moved it to special drawer. Kept note. 'Masturbation Knife'. That teaches them."

....Dimitri's not sure what to make of this, but each entry is signed "Monday".

I can only imagine the horrors Dahlia will rain down upon us for insulting her earlier.

Also, I'd like to point out that we have only six bullets. It would be wise to seek out the knife mentioned in that book to have something else to defend ourselves with. Aside from that, stealth and hiding is probably the best way to get past any dangerous enemies we might encounter.

A lot of the entries are really illegible. Not because of age or deterioration, in fact this journal looks fairly new, but whoever wrote this had the writing skills of an 8 year old.

Some of the readable excerpts including the following events.

The author states he/she does not enjoy in-door bathrooms. They continue to state that they've found a good place to urinate in somewhere in the gardens.

...

Another entry states immense dislike for all the rooms in the house. It states, "father leg room best. she there. good friend."

>>134193
>Take a look around the house before exploring the interior.

From where Dimitri is standing. He doesn't seem to notice anything unusual. The house is old and decaying. There doesn't seem to be any mirrors, or any gates leading elsewhere.

>Take the gateway to the left.

That seems to be the best choice. Dimitri opts to inspect the left gate in the walkway.

...

This one seems to be locked. Dimitri decides to climb the gate.

...

Seems empty.

A quick survey under the tables shows nothing. Just some dust collecting.

Dimitri moves to the board. It seems to note a few interesting things.

1. Staff's schedule. It seems that only the female staff remained on site at all times. The rest of the male staff, which included the chef, the servants, and a "maintenance" crew all resided elsewhere. The butler seems to be the only male staff member to reside in the manor.

2. There are a few announcements regarding the staff's personal lives. A few notes here and there regarding do's and don't's. There's also a note regarding a new year's celebration.

"Hey, all. After we're done preparing for the Master's annual party, we'll be going back to Jeff's place for some drinks and a good time. Sign your name here if you're going to need a ride! Directions at the bottom if you're gonna be okay on your own."

There's an address at the bottom. Dimitri's new to the area, but he can recognize where the address is. "Don't think that'll be of any use, though," he says.

3. Another note contains a message from the Head Maid. "To all staff members: Should you witness anything strange in the manor, be sure to come directly to me. Gordon and I won't be able to keep up with all of the complaints unless you tell us what's wrong."

4. The last note seems to be from the person who's diary you found near the Dog house... It's the same style of writing and is signed by the same person. It states: "Fallopian tubes."

....

Well, then. That's all the notes here..

Dimitri takes the notes.

Both of them.

He looks around the room, but there doesn't seem to be anything of importance in there. He moves on into the kitchen area of the dining room. There are quite a few things here to examine. What order should Dimitri examine things in?

1. Broken service elevator
2. Oven
3. Cupboard
4. Trash

The trash is filled with items that have long gone rancid. The stench is enough to drive Dimitri away from it.

Dimitri opens the bottom oven. It seems to have seen heavy use, it's empty. The top oven, however, contains a tape player of some form. Unlike the bottom oven, it seems to be quite clean. The tape player has a tape inside of it. It's been added to your inventory.

Dimitri checks the cupboard. Inside he finds a knife with a note attached, a pair of gloves, and a golden key.

The service elevator seems to have had it's "roof" collapse on it. The door is damaged and fallen inside, but there doesn't seem to be anything of interest in side. Simply a decayed old elevator.

Should Dimitri examine the items, or do something else?

Dimitri lays down the tape player on a nearby table and examines it thoroughly. Nothing suspicious about it. Just seems to be your average tape player. Dimitri decides to listen to whatever the tape might contain.

It's the voice of an old man singing. While the singing is terrible, Dimitri can't help but feel a bit more relaxed when he realized normal people used to live here.

As he realizes that the people that once lived here are now gone, and that whatever forced them out is most likely still here, the singer stops his singing to leave himself a bit of a reminder. "Note ta' self! Remember to set up ol' Higgins's VCR. Old man's been crazy to see his daughter's tapes."

It's been quite a few years since this place has been inhabited. Anything that was edible has long since gone bad.

Dimitri wakes up in a different room. He's not sure where he is right now, but his head is in extreme pain. He glances over to his watch, five minutes have passed, but he could swear he was out for a month if not more.

More importantly, visions. Dimitri has seen something. Not just that, he's heard something. A ticking clock. As if the two "beings" he ran into before weren't enough, it seems that there are more dangers hiding inside this mansion.

What should Dimitri do?

Look around. Examine inventory. See if anything has been taken away.

Look for something to wield. A piece of wood to use as a club or a metal bar for preference.

If he's still carrying that gun, that would be a better choice.

>Examine Inventory.

It seems that Dimitri has lost everything. All he has left is a small towel, a watch, and the map from his friend.

>Look around

The room is in complete disrepair. There are damaged beds, most of them broken in half, layered about the room. There's a mirror in a far off corner of the room, Dimitri decides to take the time to clean up a bit. Other than the damaged beds, there seems to be a collection of random books placed neatly next to the bed Dimitri was sleeping on. To the side of the room, a small cabinet is positioned neatly away from all the damaged beds.

>Look around for weapon.

There are a lot of broken pieces of wood, mostly from the damaged beds it seems. They are, however, very old and moldy. Would they make decent weapons?

Look at the books that have been laid out for you.

Also, let's go check that cabinet afterwords. Bring a moldy piece of wood that you can heft well. Even if it smashes on the first swing it's better to hit someone with that than your fist.
