So, I'm assuming this is similar to the Nem's Quest series, where we are an amalgamation of spirits talking to the MC?

FYI, The last attempt to merge revolver and automatic did not go well. But it was the 1950s, so maybe they were high on Jell-o.

But also:
>Normal revolvers have stability issues, and commonly malfunction.
Wat
> I mean, I already had to change the firing mechanism for the specialty ammo
Why
>You wouldn't want to use a revolver without experience, it's much more difficult to handle.

not even wrong, Revolvers are pretty notable for their simplicity
I don't even /k/ and I know this, they are tubes + hammer
no springs or fiddly shell ejection systems, just bang bang bang.
>>
No. 100086 ID: b17b81

>>100067
They use just a simple mechanism to lock bullets in place, rotate the cylinder instead of ejecting and reloading a round, and the spent casings have to be manually emptied out instead of just adding more bullets. Simplicity at its finest and most effective.

>>100060
>How
I can see a revolver having more recoil than other types, but I think that's more towards caliber and yield(No clue on words) rather than the gun itself. I can say nothing for stability issues because I only know guns from a mechanical standpoint. (How they're put together, and barely any of that even)

Btw, the parallax 3d resolution thing was stuff I pulled off the top of my head, same as this stuff. I looked into how the 3ds and other 3d systems worked into the past because I have shit vision and 3d glasses on normal glasses don't work well. I remembered the resolution thing instead of looking it up. Not saying things to look smart, just to add what I think/remember/know.

In terms of action rather than feeding, the last autorevolver I can recall was the (in)famous Mateba Unica. Prior to that, there was the Webley–Fosbery (which had the entire gun apart from the handgrip recoil) and some Norwegian revolver with a cylinder that 'flipped' rounds from an internal magazine.

Looking over that Norwegian one, the Landstad, I'm going to walk it back, and suggest that it's actually buildable by a layman. (Unlike that Dardick, which is just insanity).

>>100086
A moving slide and barrel is the epitome of stability issues.
...Although that would be minimized with an autorevolver.

I guess a lot of those specious statements can be chalked up to Logan being Logan.

Alright, let me provide the answer to your questions.

I don't know shit about guns. I just wanted to give Ann a revolver. Anything I had Logan say was interpreted by five minutes of googling, plus any information I've heard off hand. The basic gist of what Logan said is, "This is a revolver that kicks even more ass than your standard revolver."

I won't claim to be smart. I appreciate the fact that you're following me enough to fact check me, (or in this case, simply point out basic gun facts I was unaware of), so please continue to do so.
>>
No. 100217 ID: fba208

>>100216

Shit, I just realized that stability means something completely different then what I meant when I used the word. I was trying to say that revolvers break easily (which I heard somewhere, but it might be false), but what I actually said was something different. That's the problem. I get it now.

Hey, thanks for the response, and for taking it in the spirit it was intended! (fact-checking, and not ragging on your quest)
I think you're probably smart, but have areas you aren't as informed in as others. Spoilers: so do I, so does everyone.

I'm pretty sure the word you wanted was 'reliability.'
Because a revolver has less moving parts, it's generally considered more reliable than an autoloader. One big reason is the amount of space it needs to work. This is why you'll commonly see revolvers used with riot shields.

Because the frame doesn't move, breakage is much less likely, unless you build your revolver out of alloys (which some less reputable companies have done in the past, and present.)

Excited to see what happens next!

Hey guys, just wanted to give you an update. Progress on the next chapter is coming along well. I'm working on designing characters, locations, and story for Tier 2. There will be a brief intermission before hand, and then we'll cut to chapter 2.

Since I don't have anything that I want to show you yet, I've decided to post my original sketches for the main characters. These were the only times I've drawn them before the quest began, so it's not all that great. This one's Ann. She had a different power initially.

Finally, here's Logan. Originally, he actually would have stitches on his mouth. I decided that that detail didn't mesh well with everything else, and traded the stitches for scars. You may be wondering, "Why does he have scars on his mouth?" There's a perfectly good explanation for that, and I urge you all to guess in this thread. If you're right, then I'll grant you permission to say 'told you so' to anyone who held an opposing theory.

Finally, we have Mr. Pepper. I actually didn't draw this until right before he showed up in the quest. That's why this one looks more accurate than any other. I love the way his hair came out. It's so easy to draw. Unlike Gina. Fucking Gina, with her many different strands of hair going all over the place. Fucking touch up each individual piece because you can't just fill it in with color. If I have one regret so far, it would be that.

Or maybe it would be that one scene where I needed to draw a car. Fuck you car. It was just supposed to be a quick transition. I'm not googling cars to try an make that shit look good.

Strange bullets.

Does the water shot fire compressed water pellets that explode into a small shower?

What's in those sleep darts? Are they rubber-tipped?

Does Logan realize that the Gust Shot looks like a hollow-point round?
>>

My guess is that there's a chemical in the water shot that pulls humidity out of the air and converts it.

If the sleep dart works anything like a veterinary one, it needs a needle to hit the bloodstream to have any effect. All bets are off if you shoot something 100 pounds off the mark, too.

(Sorry to spring this on you all so suddenly, but I'll be away for this week. Updates will continue on the following week, where I promise to try my best to get as much out as possible. I know that I just went away, but please bare with me. This should be the last major hangup for a long while. Until then, here are three questions that I'd like to make you think about:

#1: What is the secret to Ann's power?
#2: What is the witch's motivation for destroying Earth?
#3: Is Polo hiding something?

Why not talk about these here in the Top Tier Discussion Thread? Maybe you'll figure something out with conversation.)
>>
No. 103720 ID: 3fa052

Ann's book might have more information than we realize, but I'm not sure why she was given a pen that does not permanently write. Maybe it connects to other books, but few people might have this power so we don't get a sign until a few more tiers.

Biggest reasonable dick move motive I can think of for destroying Earth is that it opens a NEW portal to a NEW tier. Basically, the witch can only expand her empire to seven different tiers at any time, and she thinks Earth is too infested with EVERYTHING for her tastes. She could steal uranium, blueprints, and genetic samples and then blow the whole place up.

As for the prophecy, maybe the witch's surveillance latched onto the prophet, and he accidentally witnessed her battle simulations on raiding Earth for resources and then nuking it.

Polo's just too NICE. They're making visitors feel REAL comfy for two weeks. Then they slap the irons on or something.

Like, say, if she got an autograph?

Alternately, what happens if Ann writes an absolute lie?
>>
No. 103750 ID: e984de

Everyone's been focusing on the book. I want to know about that pen. Is it also indestructible? Does it have infinite ink or does it open up like a regular ballpoint?

... This is an absurd idea but what if she fired it out of her revolver? Being indestructible (if it is) should make it a pretty good projectile right? I mean normal bullets get smashed up all the time, that shit would be armor piercing.
>>
No. 103752 ID: 9876c4

>>103750
The issue there is that propellent is designed to shoot a range of weights of projectile, without shaking the gun to pieces. Here's my math so far.

Ann's gun is likely a .357, about the maximum a girl her size could use well, shooting 180 grain FMJs and capsule rounds.

1 grain= 1/7000 of a pound 180/7000=0.0257lbs
A ballpoint pen is <6 grams 1 gram= .0022 lbs x6 .0132lbs.

Surprisingly, Ann's pen is likely lighter than a .357 magnum, and could be fired by the propellent of one.
All you'd have to do is get around the diameter, and ballistics problems, and you could, uh, have the properties of an unsharpened crossbow bolt for one minute.

An infinitely hard crossbow bolt at bullet speeds. Sounds good to me.
>>
No. 103760 ID: 9876c4

>>103757
Diameter is still a potential issue. A slimline office pen would probably fit in a .357's bore, while a gel roller or sharpie wouldn't.

This COULD be possible, but I don't think it's probably the optimal use of Ann's power.

Hey guys! Just wanted to say that I'm not dead. The next update is on the way. It's just taking longer than a normal post. The reasons why are simple:

1: It's two posts being made at once.

2: I have to draw more characters than I have in any other post yet.

This is why it's not here yet. The longest it should take for the post to come out is late Tuesday, but I'll try to have it out by then. Thank you for following, and I hope that I have something worth showing you soon!

Hey, just a quick warning. The next update may be slightly delayed. Not because I won't be working on it, but because of the artwork. The drawing that I'm aiming for is a bit... difficult. To make it possible, I'm rendering the city of Towne in Blender 3D. Keep in mind, that this is something that I have never done before; and suddenly the reason to my delay becomes clear.

Now, I may be totally wrong. There may be no delay at all, and the update might just come out at a reasonable time. I'm just giving you some heads up, just in case.

Doing pretty good so far: batteries (or any portable power source) are the number one barrier to powered exoskeletons today: the actual motors, load cells, etc, have been ready for years (e.g. Sarcos' XOS2), you just need to be tethered to a power source to use it. If logan has solved that problem he has the key ingredient for a powered suit.

On the exoskeleton design: ideally you want any points of contact/load bearing to be directly attached to the frame, to avoid loading the squishy human bits that will always be the first point of failure. For Logan's suit, he'd be best sticking to palm-strikes and completely avoiding punches.

Not aware of any alloys noticeable strengthened by Platinum for use in room-temperature conditions, but I;m not a metallurgist.

Platinum is useful for electronics and computers because it provides some shielding while speeding catalytic reactions.
