Hey guys, just wanted to give you an update. Progress on the next chapter is coming along well. I'm working on designing characters, locations, and story for Tier 2. There will be a brief intermission before hand, and then we'll cut to chapter 2.

Since I don't have anything that I want to show you yet, I've decided to post my original sketches for the main characters. These were the only times I've drawn them before the quest began, so it's not all that great. This one's Ann. She had a different power initially.

Finally, here's Logan. Originally, he actually would have stitches on his mouth. I decided that that detail didn't mesh well with everything else, and traded the stitches for scars. You may be wondering, "Why does he have scars on his mouth?" There's a perfectly good explanation for that, and I urge you all to guess in this thread. If you're right, then I'll grant you permission to say 'told you so' to anyone who held an opposing theory.

Finally, we have Mr. Pepper. I actually didn't draw this until right before he showed up in the quest. That's why this one looks more accurate than any other. I love the way his hair came out. It's so easy to draw. Unlike Gina. Fucking Gina, with her many different strands of hair going all over the place. Fucking touch up each individual piece because you can't just fill it in with color. If I have one regret so far, it would be that.

Or maybe it would be that one scene where I needed to draw a car. Fuck you car. It was just supposed to be a quick transition. I'm not googling cars to try an make that shit look good.

New update on the way! I've just gotta finish coloring this thing.

Wonder what we should focus on come tomorrow. I figure getting a lay of the land personally, and maybe seeing what we need to do to get a job. Nothing long term, just something keep our stomachs fed and our ears to the ground.

I like Gina. I want to be friends with her. Dunno why, she just seems interesting.

Does the water shot fire compressed water pellets that explode into a small shower?

What's in those sleep darts? Are they rubber-tipped?

Does Logan realize that the Gust Shot looks like a hollow-point round?

My guess is that there's a chemical in the water shot that pulls humidity out of the air and converts it.

If the sleep dart works anything like a veterinary one, it needs a needle to hit the bloodstream to have any effect. All bets are off if you shoot something 100 pounds off the mark, too.

(Sorry to spring this on you all so suddenly, but I'll be away for this week. Updates will continue on the following week, where I promise to try my best to get as much out as possible. I know that I just went away, but please bare with me. This should be the last major hangup for a long while. Until then, here are three questions that I'd like to make you think about:

#1: What is the secret to Ann's power?
#2: What is the witch's motivation for destroying Earth?
#3: Is Polo hiding something?

Ann's book might have more information than we realize, but I'm not sure why she was given a pen that does not permanently write. Maybe it connects to other books, but few people might have this power so we don't get a sign until a few more tiers.

Biggest reasonable dick move motive I can think of for destroying Earth is that it opens a NEW portal to a NEW tier. Basically, the witch can only expand her empire to seven different tiers at any time, and she thinks Earth is too infested with EVERYTHING for her tastes. She could steal uranium, blueprints, and genetic samples and then blow the whole place up.

As for the prophecy, maybe the witch's surveillance latched onto the prophet, and he accidentally witnessed her battle simulations on raiding Earth for resources and then nuking it.

Polo's just too NICE. They're making visitors feel REAL comfy for two weeks. Then they slap the irons on or something.

Like, say, if she got an autograph?

Alternately, what happens if Ann writes an absolute lie?

Everyone's been focusing on the book. I want to know about that pen. Is it also indestructible? Does it have infinite ink or does it open up like a regular ballpoint?

... This is an absurd idea but what if she fired it out of her revolver? Being indestructible (if it is) should make it a pretty good projectile right? I mean normal bullets get smashed up all the time, that shit would be armor piercing.

The issue there is that propellent is designed to shoot a range of weights of projectile, without shaking the gun to pieces. Here's my math so far.

Ann's gun is likely a .357, about the maximum a girl her size could use well, shooting 180 grain FMJs and capsule rounds.

1 grain= 1/7000 of a pound 180/7000=0.0257lbs
A ballpoint pen is <6 grams 1 gram= .0022 lbs x6 .0132lbs.

Surprisingly, Ann's pen is likely lighter than a .357 magnum, and could be fired by the propellent of one.
All you'd have to do is get around the diameter, and ballistics problems, and you could, uh, have the properties of an unsharpened crossbow bolt for one minute.

Hey guys! Just wanted to say that I'm not dead. The next update is on the way. It's just taking longer than a normal post. The reasons why are simple:

1: It's two posts being made at once.

2: I have to draw more characters than I have in any other post yet.

Coloring ended up being more of a hassle than I expected. Luckily, I can honestly say that I'm almost done. I'll finish it up in the afternoon tomorrow, and make the post.

That transition is really cool!

Hey, just a quick warning. The next update may be slightly delayed. Not because I won't be working on it, but because of the artwork. The drawing that I'm aiming for is a bit... difficult. To make it possible, I'm rendering the city of Towne in Blender 3D. Keep in mind, that this is something that I have never done before; and suddenly the reason to my delay becomes clear.

Now, I may be totally wrong. There may be no delay at all, and the update might just come out at a reasonable time. I'm just giving you some heads up, just in case.

Sorry that the next update's been slow. My computer had a few issues, and I ended up losing two days of progress. Good news is, I ended up designing a better pic than what I had at first. If nothing else goes wrong, it should be done by Friday. I'm holding myself to that. Friday, at latest. (Please note, 1 a.m Saturday morning counts as Friday if I haven't gone to sleep.)

Doing pretty good so far: batteries (or any portable power source) are the number one barrier to powered exoskeletons today: the actual motors, load cells, etc, have been ready for years (e.g. Sarcos' XOS2), you just need to be tethered to a power source to use it. If logan has solved that problem he has the key ingredient for a powered suit.

On the exoskeleton design: ideally you want any points of contact/load bearing to be directly attached to the frame, to avoid loading the squishy human bits that will always be the first point of failure. For Logan's suit, he'd be best sticking to palm-strikes and completely avoiding punches.

Not aware of any alloys noticeable strengthened by Platinum for use in room-temperature conditions, but I;m not a metallurgist.

Hey guys! Sorry that the next update has been taking so long. I've been a bit preoccupied with an important test. However! The test has been slain, thus allowing me to return my focus to my craft. Expect a small update soon, and a larger one sometime after (the 2nd update will be a bit trickier, so it may take longer).

UPDATE: Three weeks was a laughably impossible goal. Not because of the quantity of the task, but because school was starting at around the time I made that claim. I, the fool, shall try to make a second claim, now with an understanding of my adjusted schedule.

I'm going to try to get this thing done by October 20th. After that, updates should return to being consistently somewhat weekly. While I'm at it, I may participate in whatever Halloween event goes on here. I won't let it distract me, but It'll be a nice break from the current project
