I don't remember a "Chloe" in Ruby Quest.
But browsing through 1d4chan recently, I found a fanart featuring some "Chloe" who looks like "our" Chloe!
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Ruby_Quest
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/File:FilXChloe.png

Can anyone tell me - who is "Chloe" in this fanart?
Where's this "Chloe" from - RQ, some other quest, fanfiction?
Is this "our" Chloe?

I was actually asking about the "fanart Chloe", not "our Chloe" (I thought they may be 2 different persons)

Aberration is essentially a more serious, in-depth take on CloneQuest. Although some of the humor from the original CQ may prevail here and there.

So... destroying the world.. your ideas, thoughts, and suggestions.

I disagree with it on the principle that it would be trying too hard to please daddy and that it likely won't make her happy.. nor anyone else happy.

Besides, if we mutate the world.. then mutation no longer becomes strange and amusing... Xom would not approve so greatly of such a loss.

Well it's mostly about creating an environ in which Xom can flourish. The current ordered world is not one which encourages adventurers and strange stuff happening. And I doubt we can get every animalperson on the planet.

And as I see it it's not so much about pleasing Xom as it's about making the world a safer place for Chloe. I mean sure her notes hint that she can survive decapitation but that leaves alot of fates worse than death that she can run into. By destroying the world that supports her enemies we can destroy said enemies ability to follow her.

That and it's fucking fun. Damn bunch of longhaired pacifistic hippies here. What would you do if she was followed by communist elfs?
>>

>By destroying the world that supports her enemies we can destroy said enemies ability to follow her.

Yeah.. and create a whole new bunch of actually competent enemies (ie. wasteland warriors, adventurers, post- apoc technosorcerers) who will now likely have the skill to attack her (magic, madness, mutations, ect.)

She's been free six years... lets face it, Meta Glen are not the most competent bastards.
>>
No. 8776 ID: 8ecfd4

>>318575
Those are potential enemies. Just like every living soul is a potential enemy they're also potential allies.

MetaGen are known enemies. Simply because they haven't found her for 6 years doesn't mean they're incompetent. People who have had far more resources invested into finding them has managed to stay hidden for alot longer. I mean Mengele was hunted by Mossad until his natural death and they very much wanted to find him. He also lived out his days in constant fear that they would find him. Living the life of a fugitive isn't a very nice life.

SO. Many of you are probably wondering where the updates for Aberration are.

The answer is that I just haven't had enough time or energy to be able to do them.

I work as server at a restaurant, which gets less than stellar business during the day (which, is my shift). As such, I don't make as much money as I should (we're talking 10-20bux in tips for a 7hr shift - average amount of tables for said shift is like, 5), so in an effort to rectify that I've been taking up extra hours here and there - usually at night. Unfortunately this means that the times I could be updating Aberration, I am working, not by choice by rather by necessity (yay, poverty~)

Updates -will- come, and I'm not abandoning the project, but they just wont be like, wham-bam-thankyouma'am every day. Right now it's more of a luxury than a freedom to be able to update it.

okaaay.. who the hell thought it was a good idea to accept... nay ask for boons from a psychopathic demon queen? If we keep this up Chloe is just going to get subsumed by The Crimson Queen or something.
>>
No. 17336 ID: e3f578

She's basically 682 now. Only an immortal knight seeking a glorious challenge could stop her permanently, and even then a dimensional portal would just rip shit up and both parties become unconscious before anybody could die.

Luckily, Cloe doesn't hate life, in fact I may have referenced the wrong SCP. She may be Abel instead. Which means we are gonna go against a 682 someday
>>
No. 17353 ID: 67c611

She's no 682. She doesn't come close. Neither does a Tozol. 682 is god mode.
>>
No. 17356 ID: 1ac39d

would say she would be more Euclid in that she CAN be dangerous but is more likely not.
>>
No. 17362 ID: e3f578

>>327153
Well okay, she can't really die per say beyond getting put back in a tank and just hoping she'll never escape... so what SCP does that qualify as?

No, no, she's keter-class. While she generally doesn't kill she has no real objections either and will kill to escape. Just likely not in a matter that will have their parts spew all over a wall. I think that's what shocked her the most. they all asploded.
>>
No. 17363 ID: 1ac39d

>>327162
yes but the SCP has things that could easily kill them not keter because they are not ACTIVE threats. she is generally nice as long as you don't piss her off, with that listed she could just walk around.
>>
No. 17365 ID: 2a421d

If it were not for Queen Crimson's continued presence I would classify her as merely Euclid (rapid healers and such are fairly common among the SCPs).

However due to the fact that she may continue to accelerate personal improvement (ie: Mutation) and is tempted to engage in bloodshed... she's likely a solid Keter.

>Euclid class objects are not necessarily inherently dangerous, but they are unpredictable: for this reason, greater care should be taken around them. A wild animal, for instance may be considered Euclid, as it may have unpredictable responses to stimuli.

>Keter class objects are always inherently dangerous, despite the best containment procedures possible: the threat level may range from global armageddon to simply killing everything around it. A hand grenade with the pin removed may be considered Keter: a single mistake will cause casualties.

No. 17387 ID: f21281

Yes, the Keter classification is a nod to the SCP foundation. But that's all it is, MetaGenetics != SCP Foundation.

The thing is this was based on Delta Squads observations of the video, which, to them, they saw Chloe mutating her arms to scale a building. Right then she would have simply been an Euclid, but then when Twigs skipped ahead, she stopped right smack dab during Queenie's little rampage. So from that information alone, as Delta Squad has no prior knowledge of Chloe, they are in their right to classify her as a Keter.

Now, given everything that is known (so far) about Chloe, she'd probably be more likely to be classified as an Euclid, as she's able to restrain herself from going out and wantonly turning whole cities into slaughterhouses.
>>
No. 17388 ID: f21281

And in reference to the Chloe vs. 682...Chloe doesn't even hold a candle to 682. She's not even a fraction as resilient as him, and it's actually pretty damn easy to "kill" her if you know how to do it properly and avoid that pesky Deadpool-esque healing ability that lets her come back from even the smallest of drops of blood.

So I just got caught up on this and had a thought. From what we've seen, Queenie can manifest whenever she feels like it, and she can almost certainly "hear" our suggestions. With that in mind, I'm beginning to thing it'd be better to keep planning and discussion (i.e. deciding what to do) to this thread, and only post in the actual "game thread" with stuff that's safe for both Chloe and her passenger to hear. Giving a thoroughly evil ally of opportunity info on what we're planning seems like a bad thing.

This, if Chloe keeps abusing the power of the Crimson Queen they'll become one and the same. Remember how she said that first little power boost was 'on the house"? Don't you think it implies there will be a price next time.

Power is addictive and Chloe is already on the drip feed.

Queenie is likely to just twist and turn and spin her flesh and soul into something so unrecognizable that there won't be anything left of the Chloe we are trying to help.

In short it 'won't' be her sitting upon that throne overseeing a globe of mewling whimpering creatures all is sway to her slightest whim, it be the blood bitch behind that fanged smile.

Treating Queenie like a lesser protagonist than Chloe even though both can hear us equally just because she happens to be some kind of incarnation of evil, horrible death and what-not...you're so prejudiced, tgchan.

In your latest update your character opted to do nothing and get frustrated with the audience not 'making up their mind' which is something virtually impossible for /quest/ to do. Ever.

Not only that you had 21 suggestions to guide your hand. Instead of having your character get frustrated at the audience for not making up their mind, pick one of the choices and go with it.

You shouldn't be trying to satisfy everyone who made a choice, because by not doing anything you've discarded all the suggestions in spirit, and are asking the same question from the audience a second time.

The FAQ has(or had) a small thing about tiebreakers like this. Pick one and go with it, roll a dice, or something. Never a good idea to flip the table of every single suggestion and expect different results.

We're a bunch of people with completely different ideas, don't be afraid to go with something more fitting to the character for a tiebreaker or something.

In a way, the author did follow the suggestions (going for the bird). Just that it was not the protagonist, but the NPC who, uh, complied and solved the situation.

That's how I'd interpret it, anyway.

I'm not arguing with that, and I talked to him directly as well outside of here for more clarity.

He did do it, in a roundabout way, but the RAURGH YOU GUYS MAKE UP YOUR MIND part was pretty uncouth to me. Maybe it's a pet peeve of mine alone but I cannot stand when the game yells at us for playing the game and not being hive minded, I guess.

An interesting point of view.

I would have just thought of it as another way of reacting to the suggestions (environmental reaction instead of personal reaction) and dismissed the "WHY DON'T YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND" as a quirk of the protagonist.

However, since you already talked to the author directly, I probably shouldn't derail the questdis thread anymore.

It's not just you. I mean, it's fine when a character points out a contradiction, (doing drastically different things in similar circumstances) because that can be funny or interesting. But getting upset because not all the votes are the same? That's just silly.

So yeah, I was totally going to start working on the next chapter, but then when I started drawing I noticed my tablet was making wavy lines.

When I was drawing perfectly straight.

On further examination, it appears that the point on the end of my pen has somehow been sheered off, meaning that I can no longer draw straight lines with it anymore. And before anyone talks about replacing the nibs, it's a Graphire3, the Pen itself is a solid unit.

So until I can figure something out, Aberration is on indefinite hiatus.

So while trying to whittle my pen nib back into shape, I found out that it does indeed slide out after some tugging. Intrigued by this revelation, I went in search of something suitable to act as a temporary measure.

I found a toothpick.

So now I'm going to go see if I can even find any replacement nibs for it. Wacom has the original Graphire ones on back order, so maybe the nibs for the newer tablets will fit, I don't know. We'll see.

Defense and Speed both work well together, plus we don't exactly know who to kill and who not to kill at this point. So I'd say 1/2/2 as long as Defense and Speed don't conflict with each other. If they do though, 1/1/3 is mighty tempting. But maybe that's my stinking cheating inner JRPG hacker talking.

We might have to fight the Queen actually, so maybe 2/1/2 would be better after all. Just remember, once your speed increases enough to attack twice as fast, your effective attack power doubles.

So it's sort of come to my attention that Aberration has its fair share of failings. That there's places where it could improve, and things that are either broken or horrendously cliche can be fixed. Obviously we don't have an official criticism thread, so this is the next best thing.

So please, feel free to speak your minds. Where can I do better? What sticks out like a sore thumb about it? I don't enjoy entertaining the prospect of running a quest that doesn't provide an enjoyable experience to those who read it.

I actually liked the whole supernatural aspect of it. I always find supernatural horror to be more scary than science horror. But it would be kind of hard to retcon the retcon and it's your story.

Other than that, yeah frequent updates would be nice. Possibly a clearer map. Makes it easier to actually get stuff done. And maybe an earbud comlink to the Red Lady so we have a nice in quest way to gain clarity in things.

Hmm. Alright then. Simple character design is almost always the way to go. It is effective, and expresses the character. The digitgrade legs could work fine if you can handle drawing them in weird angles all the time which i'm sure you could handle. That crazy horror design is far more than noisy, it's awful character design for almost any standpoint.

However, it's not bad. Just not good for constant moving protagonist, you could still use the concept for special circumstances/horror times because if it's only a small amount of the time, it's far more jarring.

Keep the design simple, streamlined, and expressive, but that doesn't mean she can't go batshit from time to time.

I think the main problem with this quest was that it tried to tie-in to too many other ongoing or completed quests at the same time. I was okay with the Ruby Quest style myself (I mean the Barbed Wheel is like one of the main symbols of the quest right?) but when it suddenly went OHBTW IT'S TOZOLQUEST NAO I think the real problems started.

I'd like to see more of this quest myself, but only after an overall theme/style is finally figured out. (Though preferably more like when the Quest started as opposed to the TozolQuest stuff imo)

As always I'm sorry if I stated the obvious or said anything really stupid. xnx

Damn it, now how can I destroy the world, or worlds? Now I'm going to have to do it in another quest, which I was adimitedly planning to do all along anyway. But now I get out less potential for world destruction.

So, quick question.

If I did another quest (something new), what kind of setting would you all prefer? Fantasy? Modern? Science-Fiction?

I've got ideas for all three kinds but I want to see what the public is more interested in.

I'd like to see a modern setting (maybe 2020-ish?) as long as it contains HORROR.
I want to feel that feeling of looming evil. I want something to keep me up at night. I want Eldritch abominations, high octane nightmare fuel, violence, paranoia, fast-paced bloody action, creepy places, scary animated gifs, ghosts, hard-to-solve puzzles, let me see the cutest girl ever having a psychotic rampage, Shyamalanic twist endings etc. I want to read the most disturbing thing ever!!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of sleeping...

I have to admit though that you were doing an exceptional work with the first two chapters of Aberration (which actually got me hooked)... but I slowly started to loose interest with so many changes every time we got to the next chapter, man.
I want you to know that I like your art (your style is very attractive) and that I like the way you narrate the story, but you lost me between chapters and the fact that it got a lot like Tozol quest. But hey, I'm still reading it and I'll try to keep up with the next chapter, but if you're feeling like staring a new quest I'll look forward to it!

But seriously, let's just get with the fantasy.

But at the moment - modern or futuristic stuff sounds the best.

Futuristic, but none of that "Escape from the Military Facility" stuff. If it's a futuristic setting then maybe have it take place in a city over an old city, and have the unfathomable horror lurking beneath the streets in the old city or something. :V

The normal way of it isn't just lolmagic, but that coveting the dragon-less hoard causes you to become the dragon.

Here's a bit of plot for you, expanding on the blood drunk girl, dark paladins and the dragonhunter turned dragon. Spoilered to hide the plots, in-case any are picked up.

You being turned into a dragon is a plot by an order of dark paladins
Reasons?
Revial of a Dark Dragon
For the Evulz
Some nebulous plan
For immortality/invincibility(apparently good things happen when you kill a dragon, unless you are in Tale of the Guardians)
To get a source of dragon's blood

Alternatively the Dark paladins served a dark dragon and think you are their master reborn, you have to play along so as you aren't killed. hjinks ensue...

Now for the Blood drinker...
NOT A VAMPIRE! Have her cut open beings and drink the gushing blood.

Now you can have it that;
She is evil and enjoys being blood drunk
She is a nice girl but she just sometimes gets so HUNGRY!!!!
She is mindless completely drunk on blood.
Or go the multiple personalities route... or Yangire

Amnesia is good for fun with this person

For added horror, make it unclear who the blood drunk girl is (have multiple suspects)

Now as to why?
She is a walking sacrifice, instead of collecting people to be sacrificed, she drinks their blood, so when the time to revive the dark whatever comes only she needs to be caught

Or Somebody is trying to make a god/demon
Or she is...

Or Food for the dark dragon.

For added horror, have it that she has as many 'lives' as those whose blood she has drunk.

Dark Paladins being related to her is optional.
Also Cult of BLOOD!, who have the usual world destruction fetish, have them be chaotic stupid, in contrast to the fallen paladins who are not stupid, also have the paladins range in evilness, and lawfulness Call it DRAGONBLOOD!
Include much navel pondering about blood and how it changes things and connects things

Throw in a mysterious wizard/witch whose's motives are nebulous, other dragons, dragon hunters who knew you and UNCORRUPTED paladins too. Oh and smart sentient sapient skeletons. Cause talking, moving skeletons are awesome!

>>346143
oh, that's actually a quite nice idea. I still feel the coveting is important, though. And the problem with the hoard being us is that hoards are very non-portable.

>>346145
Most of those are combinable. In particular:

>She is evil and enjoys being blood drunk
>She is a nice girl but she just sometimes gets so HUNGRY!!!!
She is a nice girl but she enjoys being blood-drunk. Sort of like how nice girls in real life enjoy being normal-drunk. This can function as a sort of a sex metaphor thing as per older vampires. And she gets a bit crazy when drunk on the blood.

also
>Walking Sacrifice
>Food for Dark Dragon
Fuse these. She collects the blood for the dragon. He drinks the blood from her body, and it increases his power. I don't know what for of power would be increased, exactly. I guess it would be the same style of dark magic used by the paladins. Presumably the dragon's eating of things directly would also be related to this, but far less efficient since the girl is designed for the purpose.

Also the two were a couple before this, the Dark Paladins serve the dragon but I like that hoard idea. So maybe they served the old dragon, and then a new guy became the dragon, so they serve him, and turned his girl into the sacrificial vampire, with or without the Dragon's permission.

I reckon the game should start with the main character just having become the Dragon, with the Paladins appearing shortly after some initial character creation and monologuing about the tragedy of having become a dragon. The girl would have remained at home while her man went to act out his greed and seize the dragon's treasure.

However note that Theta has not actually answered the question "Is this an invitation for plot suggestions?". Maybe he doesn't even want these ideas.

Good that you're getting some ideas percolating... I might do something with some of the stuff I mentioned myself.

I'm interested to see what you come up with anyway. :D

>>346147

The combinableness is deliberate, it's the whole pick and mix idea, or pick and don't mix...

I like the 'they were a couple' idea, but, I myself would make them some form of husband and wife, cause there is a dearth of that pairing as main duo

In that case I may run something of this nature myself, when the summer rolls around and I have a bit of time. Because this seems like an awesome story to me.
>>
No. 36356 ID: e3f578

I figure these vague combinations of story ideas could make a good running joke in the real quest. Everyone is concerned with some crazy ass mix-and-match legend like the above while the real hero is getting the important shit, whatever Theta comes up with, done.

The Dark Paladins end up being nothing more than the medieval equivalent of nerds. The dragon is a cat dressed up as a dragon. The blood-drunker is a prostitute. And crazy hijinks ensue as they all get mass publicity.
