I don't think people are generally overly harsh on this site. They hardly complain about any quest at all.

Maybe it's partially your trial and error tactic that's responsible for the circumstance, that your quest is not working for me.
You mash too many genres that just don't work well together in an attempt to test, which one works best for you. While a reader generally will accept the most obscure plot point as long as it fits the genre, if you combine too many genres and stack too many different elements in a short amount of time it might put the reader off.
This means that if you keep combining ear sex, fire magic, memory shards, shonen style battle confrontations, slice of life drama, etc. the outcome doesn't work - at least not for me.
Also your trial and error tactic creates the problem, that you can't establish what kind of world your quest takes place in, because you are trying out different settings. When your character suddenly can use magic it should have been established from the beginning, that using magic in this world is a possibility (unless you're writing in a setting where that's assumed automatically - I wouldn't have any complains if it would be suddenly revealed, that some people can cast spells in a high fantasy setting for example).
Those were some of the reasons why I stopped reading this quest in the middle of the first chapter, but since you still have some players who seem to enjoy it, maybe those points raised by me are not universally loathed.
