I did some research on rubies, gold and money to calculate somewhat realistic prize for the amulet. Can you guess what it's really worth?

10,000?

Lets see, probably 18 karat gold since 24 karat is to soft to make jewelry out of. Rubies are valuable enough that the Burmese military junta are getting a large part of their funding from them.

If it's wellmade I would guess around 5000 to 6000 euro, so that would be 6700 to 8000 dollars. That would be the material, since last I looked the jewelry in question looked pretty hefty. If it's a high level of craftmanship involved or other meanings I think the price would rise.

The currencies in Gung Gol will be:

0: Dwarven gold, which is 24 carat gold, usually weighed in (30g) pieces, which is ~four Imperial denars (22 carat gold).
1: Dwarven gold bar (weighs 1kg)

2: Possanid dinar, which is usually a (4,25g) 22 carat gold coin and values roundabouts half of an Imperial denar.

3: Drachm, which is an ancient (3,25g) 90% pure silver coin.

A dinar (~$142) is 20 drachms and 7 dinars is worth one ounce of gold. (~$1000)

In BaD Quest 'drachm' may root in the word 'dragon' and is usually the price of one tunafish in the Sea Empire.

Here comes a question constructed upon some people's unconstructive critique?

How many of you would like to see this quest stop from updating?

I think you should continue. You just need to practice on writing. And a good way to do that is to keep doing it. It's hard to have things down perfectly from the start.

It's not bad so far. Hasn't really hit a groove yet, but it's also been (re)running for, what, three days? Give yourself a chance. :<

You should probably hit up someone on IRC as a proofreader, though. Your English seems a little rough around the edges, if you're not doing that intentionally. >_>

I thought the weird english was intentional?

Well see that's why I put the implicit question of "is this intentional" in my last statement there.

Also I thought that was only for the dragon? Not sure now.

The English was intentionally strange to depict the foreign culture, but it kind of leads the reader astray from the main focus which is a corrupted world so...

The dragon was originally meant to sound odd, because she hadn't communicated with beings from this realm on many occasions. Then I guess Fhan changed by meeting the dragon and started to act strange herself too.

I'm seriously considering to steer the quest towards what's been suggested here. I was too blinded by the golem quest style earlier.

The best robes, tunics, stolas, burqas in Gung Gol cost up to three drachms. They're usually bought with a scarf, veil or craftsman's tabard.

That's fine, then.

It was just a little weird to see Fhan suddenly talking in half-intelligible dragon speech. :O

Someone suggested in the original thread that Fhan should fly in Sarixu's back, but back then it wasn't possible. I just replenished that idea and put it in the quest. Fhan has been emotionally tied to the dragon ever since she arrived at her nest and didn't get eaten.

Okay, you may regard this as an apology in advance for the names. Again, I'm not at all good in naming things so I DON'T EVEN TRY. I just throw at you whatever hits my mind first and try give you chance to change it in every corner.

To those who haven't yet ignored this quest for the reason they think it's defaming D&D and don't know it yet, many contents in this quest are loosely borrowed from Dungeons & Dragons / Advance Dungeons & Dragons as I remember them.

So I sometimes assume the reader knows already for example, that evocation in the quest is channeling of elements such as fireballs or lightning bolts.
