In the last episode, Mu was tutored by the mountain goblin Quan. After harsh trieals, Mu finally mastered the Demon Flash Step, a powerful technique for fast movement. All was not fun and roses, as Quan succumbed to the Demon Fury during the final test. Mu battled the demon with audacity, and was at death's door when the Mysterious Lady Min intervened.

Afterwards, Lady Min beseeched Mu to come to her valley's aid, as it is besieged by a band of brigands. Mu agreed.

This is their journey.

"The forgive my potential rudeness, I shall ask no further.
Perhaps you could tell me more of Spirit Foxes in general?
I find my knowledge of the world's machinations.... lacking, likely thanks to my sheltered upbringing."

And Mu, question: about how fast are you ready to use Demon Flash step again? Does it vary depending on how many of the 3 max uses were expended per manuever, or is it a flat refresh rate?

Also, you are walking a (presumably) long path, and other than talking with Lady Min, you seem to do nothing to keep your body nearly as engaged as your mind.

You're using your feet anyway, might as well practice your newfound technique, unless you think you raised it to it's pinnacle in a week.

Maybe... using both feet simultaneously to leap, or increase range/speed, at the cost of making landing harder?

Or trying to pactice one-legged-leaps with each step, in the attempt to extend the range each step can take you.

Or anything, really, just remember, one freshly learned Demon Technique does not make you invincible, and you are quite possibly going to fight a bandit lucky/talented/competent enough to have somehow acquired a Cold Iron sword. Any practice would help.

I'll work on my technique, but doing it constantly is very tiring.

"Perhaps you could tell me more of your kind?"
"This one and others? There are many tales of the húli jīng among mortals. Of fox spirits playing tricks and leading men astray. Some are true, others less so. This one is not permitted to reveal our secrets, even to one such as you."
"How many brigands are there?"
"This one hears two and a dozen. Unless more have become lost in the woods."
"How long have they been camping in your valley?"
"A month, at least."
"What are they doing there exactly?"
She looks away, avoiding Mu's eyes.
"This one is unsure. You must ask others, or honoured mother."
"Do foxes like ear rubs?"
"TOAD"
"That... would not be proper."
"Sorry, he's a big jerk sometimes. A perverted jerk."
"Harrumph. Am not."
"(liar) Does the queen have any rules about iron weapons? I don't want to break any laws while I am there."
"Iron from mortal fire-bellows is not harmful to us. Only cold iron dispels our magic so."

Ask about Spirit Foxes in general. Lady Min mentioned that mortals cannot learn Spirit techniques, unlike Demon Techniques. Could she explain the reason for this?

And can Spirit Foxes change shape, or create illusions? Such things are commonly associated in folklore with those considered 'tricksters', and it would be interesting to hear from one of the Spirit Foxes themselves how much is true.

Then, perhaps she could tell us if we were correct, in our guess concerning her Two Truths and a Lie, that the claim 'I have never known a man' is false, (seeing as she 'knows' Mu, at the very least).

"know" likely is intended to mean "have had sex with" in this context. But it could be her assessing that we would assume that and trying to trick us.

We're the Demon toad, but we don't know you're whole life, not as well as you do. Maybe you could try coming up with one. SOmething relating to Zhao and the temple, perhaps? A teacher that strives to kill the student in secret.... likely a strange Truth can be pulled from that.

Something like: 'I learned from a smiling man that wished me dead for most of my training.' Maybe rephrased, your call kid.

Then fill in one truth about yourself that seems unlikely in the way it is phrased, preferably one as few people know the truth about as possible. There is a power in knowledge, perhaps there is a dearth of it in it's absence.

Then for a lie.... hm. I got nothin.

Or conversely Mu, if you feel yourself not up to it, then excuse yourself from the game with something like,

"My apologies, Lady Min, but I am afraid I do not think myself capable enough to fool you. But thank you for honoring me with a riddle of words, I am always happy to see them."

And then get on with the practice, unless she comes out with something else to say or ask.

If you lack such knowledge, or know things to the contrary, go the route by human land. And just as she had appeared, lady Min was gone, vanished into the forest. Mu searched for her with his eyes for a moment, then turned towards the left path. For two days Mu and Toad walked, always choosing the path Min had instructed. Along the way, Mu practised his new-found technique, focusing on taking longer steps at a time.
One evening, Mu was pushing his way through a patch of thick undergrowth when he suddenly found himself along a well-maintained road. "Turn right when you reach the road", lady Min had said. There was a tea house at the side of the road, and Mu could see the lights of a town further ahead.

If Mu is to become a gret martial artist, if Mu is to become a Dragon in his own right, even as you guide him, there must be times he can act and decide his course on his own.

And really, in a bar fight, the odds are good he can handle himself.

If you are genuinely worried, get close enough to see how he is doing, but don't do anything unless he looks to be in danger?

If Mu does indeed pass out then we need the demon toad to get in there.

Berate the guard for nearly killing what is obviosly a weakminded simpleton with a good heart. I mean who else would pick a fight with armed guards over a barmaid? And with such incredibly lame one liners? The kid has obviosly been hit in the head once to many by his master.

In short shame the bastards for beating up a retard.

Also, Mu, don't you fucking dare to pass out or the toad will bring up this story every time your about to get lucky. Imagine it, an immortal freaky toadthing cockblocking you for the rest of your life. You had better focus your chi to stop the bleeding and then run like a motherfucker.

It's not so much about making the guards care as it's about making the innkeeper and customers care. Killing an idealistic punk in cold blood while everyone knows he's a bit weak in the head is different from killing some random guy that attacked them.
