Jackie: earth temple. intel was right.
K-Zel: i never been so far from my village before. i always thought temples look similar to each other.
Lefty: it still to early to celebrate. mad legion mounted defences around the temple. bunkers, ground troops, light assault machines.
Fuse: doesn't matter. we will just blow-up our way through. (grin)
Lefty: illithians have a tighter grip on this sector. if we don't sever their communiactions... difference in numbers will become too severe.

MISSION OBJECTIVE
1. gain access to the earth temple.
2. find way to activate it.
3. return to the homebase.

SIDE MISSION
1. find oldman.
2. gather intel on a rouge ditto soldiers.

[Illithians are telepaths they don't use comm-tech for anything other then inter-planetary communications. wich means our target is a single elite psyche trooper.]

Just run him over with your tank.

That might be harder with the main gun down.

>>668944
What are our options for cheap killing the elite trooper? Could we snipe them? Or maybe drop a grenade on them? I don't think we fight fair, here.
>>
No. 668949 ID: b67ca7

Main guns is down, we lost our hand cannon, and we still need to find the old man. I say scout for a gap in their defenses and see if we can't sneak in at night. We can leave K and lefty back with the tank to act as reinforcements should we need it while you and fuse do what you did before expect this time we're going for an assassination instead of a search and rescue.

>Just run him over with your tank.
[i'll consider it as option.]

>That might be harder with the main gun down.
[yeah we won't do a lot of strucure damage like this but two anti-personnel light machineguns can mow down squids like a fresh grass.]

>What are our options for cheap killing the elite trooper?
OPTIONS:

A) direct approach (most probably won't work)
B) >Could we snipe them?
[if only we had a sniper with a sniper gun.]
C) >Or maybe drop a grenade on them?
[only after he is within reach... so that's only leaves us with...]
D) >I say scout for a gap in their defenses and see if we can't sneak in at night.
[sneaky approach. once elite trooper neutralized we are free to wreak this base up without nearby illithian noticing.]
[for a at least a few hours.]

K-Zel: but what about one of your friends? the one whom you refer to as oldman.
Jackie: i guess we can't just leave him out here all alone. but we have no idea where he is and even if he is still alive after all this time.
>>

Repairing your main cannon is your best bet. Rousing them up with an ambush would only strengthen them, you need to take advantage of their low alert status, hit them all with a mortar while they're unaware that there are even enemies in their vicinity.
>>
No. 668996 ID: e114bc

Well we should at least make a good effort looking for him. Drive around for a bit. He can't have gotten very far from the initial arrival spot, and to have survived this long he must have gotten to shelter or have made his own.
>>
No. 668998 ID: b67ca7

Well the old geezer couldn't have gotten to far so we can probably scout the surrounding area for him as well. Even if we don't find him we might find something to help us with the mission.

>Repairing your main cannon is your best bet.
[currently repair is impossible. barrel was sliced right down the middle. it's not something you can fix with scrap on the feild.]
Lefty: main cannon can shoot alright. only with damaged barrel blast would be disperced right in front of a cannon. makes for a good 10m radius shockwave. not such a good long range weapon.

>scout.
-none of the team member possess scouting or tracking skills. you find nothing helpful.

---few hours later night descends on the temple site.

When taking the elite down, you don't have to be quiet, you just have to be QUICK and THOROUGH so he can't call for reinforcements. Sounds like a good use of gun.
>>
No. 669036 ID: 1cebc8

If you're going loud, be sure to fire an entire clip in one bite. When you're ready, dive to the floor while unleashing a spray focused directly at the elite. Minimizing your visible surface area will leave some mooks confused for a few seconds while Fuse picks them off.

But yeah, be sure to pick off as many mooks as you can in stealth before you lose the tactical advantage.
>>
No. 669042 ID: e3ebd4

Bullets travel faster than sound, so if we are sure we can get the elite in the first shot we can just shoot him and finish off the others. If not we will have to stealthily kill the guard near him and get closer.
>>
No. 669057 ID: 9ddf68

try and stay quite until we have the elite in our sights. That way we can surprise him and catch him off guard. Because if we start bring down the thunder now he'll call for reinforcements and even if we do take him down the squid calvary would already be on it's way. Also try not to take out to many solders if you don't have to. Take down to many and the squids might notice some of there solders missing and start looking around for you... you are hiding the bodies right?

Shelly: after we escaped holding cells in illithian base, we fought our way outside. we managed to get in contact with nearby armored unit, when that big explosion happened. i got knocked out by the blast wave. next thing i remember is waking up here in the medbay.

-Shelly rambles on for a bit about next few days she spent at the base...

Shelly: ...then a few days later right after lunch i got a call on secure personal comm-link. that guy... what was his name... Kong. he asked a bunch of questions about operation "Maveric". i couldn't tell much cuz i can't remember shit about that day. he then asked me to come and "visit" him at sector-1. he told me a room number and everything. i knew something was up... like what council member would even want from me? i went there late after dinner. room was locked up, but i knew the password. so i let myself in. there he was in a pool of his own guts and blood. the end.

>Shoot straight with me, you kill the dude or not? If you did, you better have a damn good reason, and if you didn't, you better give me a few damn good leads.

Shelly: he was already dead when i entered the room. and i have no idea who might have done that.

Right. So it's a frame up job, or a case of very much being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't suppose we got a record of that comm call.

They said they found the murder weapon on you. How'd that happen? You take anything with you? Was something planted on you, or in your stuff? (What was it)?

What did you do after finding him dead? Everything till you ended up in custody. (Examined him, immediately called it in or sounded the alarm, tried to run from an obvious frame up, etc).

They told you what you're facing? They treating you right? They give you a lawyer?

Dallas: side of the prosecution have her on tape, making her the only person visiting counselor Kong at the time of his death. she was later apprehended in barracks. traces of victim's blood were found on her clothes. and murder weapon - modified plasma blaster was found hidden among her belongings.

>I don't suppose we got a record of that comm call.
Dallas: negative. if that call was ever made, it was through a secure comm-line.

1. blood splatter. case file - victim was shot by supercharged plasma blast at point blank range. death was instantaneous.
2. body. case file - victim's body was moved soon after his death.
3. safebox. case file - found open next to the victim. contents [top secret]. currently secured by vita-corp operatives.

Any cameras in the room, or covering access points? Any cameras in the barracks? If she's telling the truth, somebody must have smuggled the murder weapon into her stuff during the window of time when she was out.

What's the time of death, how soon after was the body moved?

Was Shelly given a medical examination at the time of her arrest? Supercharged plasma blast at point-blank range seems like it would cause some splashback. If there were no burns on her hands, that's evidence for acquittal.

Speaking of which, what standard of evidence are we looking to meet to get her off the hook? Is this some Phoenix Wright crap where the only way out is convicting the real killer, or would reasonable doubt be sufficient for execution to at least be postponed?

Dallas: it did left a burn marks... on victims body.

>Any cameras in the room, or covering access points?
Dallas: the only access point is this door. there is camera in a hallway wich covers it.

>Any cameras in the barracks?
>If she's telling the truth, somebody must have smuggled the murder weapon into her stuff during the window of time when she was out.
Dallas: there is couple of cameras monitoring main enterance, but with number of people walking in and out, we have about 300+ suspects.

>What's the time of death, how soon after was the body moved?
Dallas: about hour after dinner. body was moved soon after that, Kong was still bleeding.

>Was Shelly given a medical examination at the time of her arrest? Supercharged plasma blast at point-blank range seems like it would cause some splashback. If there were no burns on her hands, that's evidence for acquittal.
Dallas: prv. Springfeild was examined. traces of victim's blood were found on her clothes. there was small burnt marks on her gloves... wich is not that unusuall. most of the feild infantry who use plasma weaponry have that. even you major.

>Speaking of which, what standard of evidence are we looking to meet to get her off the hook?
[we would need to ether find another suspect, or cast a doubt on evidence used against her.]

[as things stand now. she looks like the only suspect. to break through that first we need to understand how and why.]

FACTS - undeniable truth.
1) Shelly was the only person caught on a camera covering the councelor room, entering a few hours after councelor, then leaving 5 min later.
2) Shelly was the one who moved the body.

Okay, let's see what we can do:

A) We do not know for certain if there was more than one entity involved. Shelly herself said that she found the corpse, after Kong had been killed.
B) We cannot fully trust surveillance evidence; in the same way that the crime scene and suspect's testimony might have been altered, it is possible that the surveillance might have been doctored. Nothing you have seen is absolute truth.
C) Our goal is not to prove that Shelly did not kill Kong. Our goal is to show a reasonable ammount of doubt that Shelly intentionally, and with a specific plan in mind, executed Kong for purposes unknown.

The following is speculation:

What is the simplest reason to move a dead or dying body just a few feet away from their initial spot?
They were searching for something. So we can speculate that the body was probabbly turned from frontside to backside, after one of the entities involved searched his shirt and front pockets.

Search the place, see if you can find any markings that show where the killer would stand and why.

Can we get Lefty or some tech we trust examining the footage? Is it possible it was tampered with? (Ie, someone edited out of the record).

Maybe we could use K-Zel as an in with vitacorp? Leverage that connection to try and get access to the sealed files.

Where did the modified pistol come from? How was it modified? We should have it examined by a weapons expert (like the dorf who gave us our experimental gun before).

So what if whoever came back WASN'T Kong? Think about it; anyone with Kong's DNA and facial records could easily fool the camera if Kong hacked it right, and said clone could go somewhere and come back in five minutes, only to be shot to death by himself. Then, it's just a matter of hacking the camera so that it loops back on itself, while the sensors will not realize their main drive is being hacked because the perpetrator has security access.

Keep in mind that CLONING IS NORMAL. It's possible that - and bear with me - Kong was forced to murder an empty shell, faking his own death.

Now, this may be a ridiculous theory, but the fact that it is reasonably plausible means that this is NOT an open-and-shut case.

>>677103
Against a single unaware opponent in a closed space with their back turned, that's effectively a Future Shotgun.

So it would leave an excess blood splatter, thereby increasing the amount of chaos in the room, leaving the killer enough leeway to make a few mistakes when rewiring the crime scene. The sheer violence of the attack also distracts the police from analyzing the crime scene effectively; there's just too much blood to think straight.

It also means that the trajectory can't be easily calculated, because the attack was designed to be explosive and non-piercing. But why would the killer care about hiding where they opened fire if nobody has any idea who they are or what ANYONE would want with Kong?

Well, if it doesn't leave any extra evidence on the walls, it would be easier to move a body and stage where a killing took place. (Although other evidence makes that unlikely in this case).

It might also make it safe to fire on someone who's restrained or being grappled by someone, if the blast isn't gonna penetrate the target and hit your ally.

If he can't find any then that'll cast some doubt on her killing Kong since she wasn't carrying the murder weapon.

The only reason I can see for using a weapon like this is if you wanted to kill someone as messily as possible while being fast and quiet. Why would Shelly, a trained soldier, use this when she could've just used a standard gun or knife? Hell do they even have a motive for why she killed him?

Also do we have a recording of what he did in those five minutes?

And what I meant about the heir is that it looks like you just fell out of bed. After an owls been nesting on your head.

Other cause of death is a good reason. You can't really tell if the hole in someone's head is from a screwdriver or a bullet if their whole upper half is pulped. Did they run a tox screen on the body or just assume it would come up empty?

(spitballing cause I'm running out of ideas. trying to find any differences between the pics we see of the counselor. Only thing I can find is he wasn't wearing glasses in one. Did he *need* glasses? It's probably possible to make/wear high-tech ones.)

Obvious question for Dallas: did they take a statement from Bradshaw? Did he volunteer the information that they talked in the hallway?

Because right now he was the last person to have seen the victim alive.

Assuming Bradshaw knows he spoke with him, it's weird he wouldn't provide that information to an investigation he ordered. Still, it's premature to confront our CO, and I assume Jackie has known him long enough to give him some benefit of a doubt. Just cause he was there doesn't mean he was involved.

B. You can't charge him without means, motive, and opportunity, and if he's not knowingly involved, approaching him could tip off whoever IS responsible.

C- talk to a chemist. We're looking for a compound that could be eaten without knowing it's an explosive (non-obvious taste, or a taste that can be covered up), and could be set to explode on a timer without a fuse. Or maybe it could simply have a delayed, yet energetic, reaction with stomach acid.

Jackie grabs remnants of kill-bot and carry it to the armory. Lefty and Kaz began inspecting the robot.

Lefty jacks-in via cyber-link into the robots head.

Lefty: so you said it attacked you out of nowhere right as you where entering your room?
Jackie: yep. thats pretty much the long and short of it.
Lefty: should i even ask why you didn't immediately report this to BSU?
Jackie: nope... was a bit wasted that time. can't remember much.
Kaz: so you have no idea how you took it down?
Jackie: i guess i punched it or something... here. look.(points at the chest plate)
Kaz: this plate made of titanium... how did you...
Lefty: i got something! this fella here was commissioned and programmed by... commander Bradshaw.
...
Jackie: are you sure about that?
Lefty: his biometrics where used to access assembly station. only high ranking officers have access to them. Shelly ranks as a scout-trooper, she wouldn't be able to do it.
[i guess that seals it...]
Lefty: wait. there is something else. along with this unit, two more was made at the same time. i think... i can track them through their OS-chips, if they still in the base.

Now the evidence is pointing to Bradshaw. It's obvious that someone is probably trying to get you to accuse haphazardly, take yourselves out. someone hacked some of the drones and seems to have gotten a small amount of control over the security systems. While we are not naming names we have the situation under control and those responsible are being persuade as we speak.

Now unless you need anything more or have something you wish to tell me I'm going to leave these boys here to help you out and do a quick sweep to make sure nothing else is around. Comms are down so unless you have some working ones I'm afraid that we won't be able to talk until they're back up.

Assuming they don't have anything to say or a something to help you head towards Bio and see if they need help. I mean they have lefty and Dallas helping them out but still don't think we should waste any more time then we need.

She's not barehanded; Her gloves look rather bulky and have some tech-y bits. They're probably some kind of power gloves or somesuch with who knows what capabilities. But whatever the gloves are, you're in no state to fight her even if she was barehanded.

>E) ... shit i need to think of something that would work!
Simply put, there isn't one. You're in no shape for a close-quarters fight and you can't shoot her 'cause the bitch dodges your shots like they're moving in slo-mo. Fight and it'll end with either you dead or so pummeled you'll be out for weeks while the docs glue you back together. Ya got nothing that'll distract her enough to give you an opening to get to K-Zel, and even if you did you don't have the strength to haul K-Zel away. Right now, your only option is to attempt to retreat. You'll get another crack that this bitch later on, along with her bosses.

Backpedal towards the nearest exit; Either the stairs or over the nearest edge you can use your grav-boots to get down a wall. Lay down gunfire to keep the bitch dodging to slow her pursuit, and also shoot into the roof if it'll kick up a lot of dust to cover your retreat.

Dropships are short range, right? Strictly surface-to-surface or orbit-to-surface. That means if you get away and get to the hangars in time you could round up pilots to pursue it. Even if they don't catch up they might be able to get close enough to the larger ship the dropship launched from to ID it.

No time or energy for anything really fancy, so go for a cheap shot. You need a distraction? Adapt the old kick-sand-in-the-eyes bit. What are the options for heavy weapons? I mean, obviously Conqueress's main gun is going to be better than anything you can sling on your back, but with some kind of MANPAD missile launcher, you could've credibly threatened to shoot down a dropship, which would then have changed the whole dynamic of the fight with Frankie. Probably come in handy for taking out elite squid troopers on stealth missions, too.

We shouldn't bother with anything that would replace our precious muscles however, because that could mess with our ability to kill robots in ONE PUNCH. I'm thinking maybe a tiny laser weapon hidden somewhere inconspicuous on our body. Maybe we can mount weapons in our boobs?

2xBoom Dough
All the coat upgrades, including duct tape.

I suppose the question is energy shield versus light shield?
I feel like the option of a light shield might be useful...But then again an energy shield might not require one of your hands to use unlike the light shield, and give you've already got the sword/gun style...
Second, backup gun might not be a bad idea, in case closing to melee isn't an option (and I suspect blocking bullets with that sword is not a novice-level perk).
As for which gun...
Proton Caster should nicely compliment the strengths and weaknesses of the proto-blaster we got from Kaz.

>OK, we're going to need all records of her from your records and any of her belongings she left behind that the company is holding.

GnR employee: I assure you we don't anything of sort. All we had is location of her living quarters. But so does BSU.

Ace: Yep we already swept the place. Nothing helpful.

>Also, we'd like to speak to the one who hired her.

GnR employee: mr.Caesar left the company years ago we don't have any information regarding his whereabouts, as far as i know old man can be long dead by now. he was 85 when he left.

>Also, FR-80085. Boobs? Really, the number, I don't know, seems a bit odd to me, maybe even fake.

GnR employee: that number checked out with base records. we had no reason to belive it's fake.

>Also, after the interrogation, get Ace to check the FN number just in case.

Jackie: Ace could you double check just in case.

Ace: ...ok

>What about the day where she split? What did she do here then?

GnR employee: she never showed up for her shift that day... and the day before that.

>As a commander, does your authority cover summary execution of traitors?
[nope. head commander of the base is in charge of that. so i guess it would be commander Bishop right now.]

Ace: i guess that's it commander. thanks for the assist. i will report to chief Dallas now.

-Ace walks out of the bar. RnG employee sighed in relief. training brace makes it self known with sudden surge of pain.

[ow. ow. moving too much... hurts... jeez]
[all this talking about Frankie sure brings back memories. FR-80085... i wonder where are they all now. bunch from the 80th "century"... 012, 066, Baker, 033 and... her.]

-bartender notices your distant gaze. he pours you one on the house.
