The year is 2568, give or take a few to relativity. The place is aboard starship Eternal Hope. Following an unexpected collision, the ship was forced to make an emergency stop around a nearby star. Now adrift; the surviving crew has to repair their ship enough to return home to safety. That and not get eaten by the evil shape shifting alien.

>Be the engineer

The story begins with a murder. A murder and a lot of shouting. The corpse was just found in the Sleeping Quarters - First Ring. Now the other survivors are shouting amongst each other. They think an alien did it. They think an alien is hiding amongst them right now. They all shouted nasty things and debated so fiercely that Sparrow started to cry, and hid in a nearby air vent to get away from it all.

Sparrow doesn’t handle this kind of stress well. She cries easily and likes to hide from things that scare her. She is the only survivor that can travel through the air vents.

Her current inventory contains:
One wrench
One roll of duct tape
One canister WD-40
32 Anxiety Pills
3 ‘cigarettes’

Yeah, if there's an alien I'd be fully prepared to encounter it in the air vents at any given time. Don't assume you are safe in there. Except from other humans, you're probably safe from whoever is actually human. Mostly. What other sort of stuff would you have as the engineer available to you? Like if you went and grabbed stuff from elsewhere? What repairs does the ship need? Focus on what you need to do now, not the panicked discussion.

Sparrow doesn’t quite recall the last time she took an anxiety pill. Her memory isn’t very good when she is worried. She takes an anxiety pill. It’s supposed to take a few minutes to take effect. She wishes time would move faster.

Everyone is currently located in the First Ring, which contains various civic rooms such as the Sleeping Quarters, the Mess Hall, and a Movie Theater. Above them is the Command Module, which requires the Captain’s permission to enter. Below them is the Second Ring, which contains rooms such as the Armory, the Medical Station, and Cold Storage. Further down is the [Engine], which she will need to repair if she wants the ship to ever move again. Sandwiched in-between the rings are the Escape Pods, if any of them are still functional.

The poor victim was somebody Sparrow never knew personally. They were mauled to death, as if by a wild animal. Sparrow doesn’t like to think about the corpse. Sparrow doesn’t like to think about how the alien might able to sneak through the air vents too. She takes another anxiety pill. Sparrow wishes time would move faster.

Sparrow rushes to reach the Second Ring, leaving the rest of the survivors behind. She’s relieved to be away from all the shouting; the lonely silence of the hallways is far more comforting to her. The idea of an unknown predator, however, is far from comforting. She finds herself stepping cautiously around every shadow and minor creak along the way. Sparrow contemplates taking another pill.

Connecting the First and Second Ring together is a large airlock. Curiously, it is rejecting Sparrow’s entry. Either it's broken, or the machine has been hacked to deny her access. She supposes she could force the door open, but she would not be able to close it once on the other side.

Sparrow’s communicator rings with two new text messages:
Medic:Meet me at the Movie Theater. We need to talk. Private matter.
Soldier:I’m locking down the Armory until further notice. Captain’s orders.

Report it after you've moved away from the door. So just in case the captain is the shapeshifter, he doesn't have your location.

>go meet doctor in movie theater
Let's head in that direction. What are our escape options if this is a trap by the alien? Do you know the doctor well enough you could ask a question only they could answer? Could you rig up some kind of bio scanner? (Maybe that's what the doc wants help with). How many exits from the theater, and can you get in without being seen by anyone else? (Vents again, I guess).

>didn't know victim
So no one critical to ship function then? That's a relief. Still upsetting, but a relief.

Sparrow walks towards the Movie Theater. The Medic is a very quiet, serious person. Whatever he wants to talk about must be important, given their situation. Unless he’s the alien luring her into a trap. She’d be walking right into it. Sparrow doesn’t like the idea of walking into a trap. It makes her feel small and weak. She contemplates finding a closet to hide in and hope that everything would just blow over.

She messages to the Captain that the Airlock door is broken. Maybe there are other doors to get to the other side. She hasn't used them, if they exist. But the door she always uses has a large number 4 on it, so logically there should be a door with a large 1, 2, and 3 on them. Maybe the stress is making her forget where the other airlock doors are. Meanwhile, Sparrow realizes she left the communicator on for that whole message, and now thoroughly embarrassed, apologizes and turns it off.

Sparrow was so distracted in her idle thoughts, that she barely noticed the Soldier and Janitor in front of her until she bumped into them.

“Oh, there you are!” The soldier says, loud and boisterous as always. “Where have you been?”

“She probably just got scared and ran away like always, give her a break.” Says the Janitor in his low, somber tone.

“This is a state of emergency! We can’t have people all running off in different directions. The Captain has already locked himself up in the command center, so the five of us remaining need to stick together!”

We don't necessarily need to stick together, thanks to electronic communication, but we do need to keep track of each other.

I'm here with you two, Medic's waiting for me in the theater, Captain's on the bridge. Where's the cook?

Open up some notepad function on your phone. Write down what time it is, and where everyone is. Update those notes (without overwriting the old data) every time you get new information, and every time you take another anxiety pill, always with timestamps.
>>
No. 659383 ID: ab7529

Sparrow, how well do you know the rest of the crew? Do you know anyone's secrets? Do they know any of yours? A question about something very personal usually kept secret could be used to check if someone is themselves or an alien. (Although you can't ask this kind of question where two people can hear, or it ruins the secret and it's value as an ID).

>Sparrow was so distracted in her idle thoughts
Don't wander around distracted. That will get you ambushed!

>>659367
>>659368
No, no. Bad! Don't tell there where the medic is. Either of them could be the alien, and the medic said this is private. If it's not a trap, he's trying to keep it secret for a good reason.

>medic could be a trap
The problem is how we feel out the medic without tripping the trap, if it is one. We need escape options. Multiple escape routes planned. Maybe rig up some smoke bombs or some other trick.

>the five of us remaining need to stick together!
Say you appreciate the sentiment, but that may be logistically difficult considering you all have different responsibilities.

Although groups do have a small advantage. They can't both be the alien, right?

...if it's so important that everyone stick together, does he know where anyone else is? (If they know the medic is in the theater, then it's not so secret or a trap. If they think the medic is somewhere else, than the medic deceived them, or there's a medic at one location and a alien at the other).

In fact, make this a rule. Always ask for information first, and see what they say, before providing your own. This increases your chance of catching a liar, and not feeding the alien info.

Don't tell anyone you were in the vents. If the alien assumes all the humans are too big to fit, that gives you a small advantage.

Sparrow doesn’t like being around the Soldier. He is very loud, and makes fun of her for being such a scaredy cat. She tries to muster up the courage to make a strong response. “I n-n-n-need to go see the medic.” She stutters out. A for effort. “T-t-they’re waiting for me.” She thinks it best to refrain from mentioning the movie theater. That place only has one entrance and exit, though Sparrow can sneak out through the air vents as well. If she can find a maintenance closet on the way, she could use the spare parts to make a Smoke Bomb or possibly a Taser. The Janitor should know where all of those are and have the keys to access them.

“W-we should stay in groups. I’ll b-be with the medic. Where’s the cook?”

The soldier and janitor glance towards each-other. “...I thought he was with the medic?”

Sparrows tries to process this information. The medic said it was a private matter. Did they invite the cook along? Or maybe the medic is the alien and ate the cook already? Or the cook was the alien and used the medic’s communicator? Why are they staring at her? Do they think Sparrow is the alien? She feels very uncomfortable here. They’re giving suspicious looks. Sparrow would like to leave. She must look very suspicious right now. But she’s not suspicious she just can’t handle this kind of stress and now they’re just staring at her but she doesn’t like it when people stare at her this is a lot of unwanted attention what if they’re both aliens but that wouldn’t make sense they said there was only one alien-

Sparrow takes another anxiety pill. She wishes she had a lighter right now, but she doesn’t know where she last left it. Maybe she should be writing this all down.

No, don't leave journals behind! That's what the crew does before they get devoured by aliens for some hero to find later. Be the hero, Sparrow!

Tell the Soldier and Janitor you're still going to see him, or it, but you'll need a maintenance closet key so you can protect yourself. Fashion a tazer for defense.

Tell them that the medic texted you (maybe wave your comm so they can see the inbox, but don't open the text), but he didn't mention the cook.

Either they separated, or the medic just failed or mention it... or the alien is with the cook, or has the medic's comm?

Maybe you should text the medic back, and ask him if he's seen any of the others.

Um. Ask these two how they know the medic and cook are together. Did they see it, or did someone just tell them?

Ask if the janitor could get the three of you into a supply closet. You can uh, prove you're you by doing something engineer-y with the supplies? Oh gods, the alien's not an engineer too, right? That would make you too easy to replace. That would be terrible.
>>
No. 659398 ID: 0f4536

What kind of communicators do you have? Just text or can they do audio? Arrange with them to message the cook asking if they are ok at the same time we message the medic, since one alien probably can't do two things at the same time. Then include in your message to the cook asking what they need to see you about.
How about, unless the cook responds with an extremely good reason for privacy, we just ask these guys to come with us? I can't think of any compelling reason for the survivors to not stay in the same room whenever possible.

Sparrow decides not to leave notes behind. Dead people leave behind notes in all the horror games she’s played. Or painted murals and left up posters. She decides she won’t do any of that, because she’s a hero! Or so she tells herself...

“D-did you see them together, or…?”

“I guess not. They were the last two left in the Sleeping Quarters, so I guess we just assumed. Ha! Silly us.”

“Ffffuck. Let’s go back and see if we can find them.”

The three of them try using their communicators to text the Cook and the Medic, asking where they are. Neither of them respond.

“I’ll g-go find the medic, you guys can search for the cook.” Sparrow stutters some more, taking a step away from the two of them. She’d like to be alone now. “M-may I please have a key for the supply closet? I’d like to get something to defend myself with.”

The Janitor tosses her a spare key, warning her that it’s the only spare he has right now, and gives her directions to the nearest supply closet. They part ways, the Soldier and Janitor leaving together, and Sparrow leaving on her own. She’s still scared, but at least finds some comfort in solitude.

>Be the Captain

Captain Kerouac may die a bloody and beaten mess. He may die crying for his mother. He may even die by being jettisoned out an airlock. But he refuses to die sober. Kerouac has holed himself up in the Command Module, and refuses to leave the safety of said module until he has at least one taste of everything in his alcohol collection. In the meantime, his perch allows him to:

1.Monitor the security feeds
2.Remotely lock and unlock doors.
3.Activate automated security [Broken]
4.Check crew logs
5.Make announcements over the telecom.
6De-activate the ring rotation, halting artificial gravity. [Locked, pending engine repairs.]
7.Remotely launch the escape pods.
8.Disconnect primary power source, forcing the ship into emergency power mode.

According to a message he received earlier from the Engineer, one of the airlocks to the Second Ring is malfunctioning. He finds this mildly concerning, but not as concerning as the temperature of his drink. He idly wonders if maybe the refrigerator is malfunctioning too.

According to the monitor in front of him, only one of the escape pods is giving a signal that it’s still functional. He supposes that would work to get one person to probable safety, if the worst comes to worst.

Kerouac remotely locks the Armory first. The only thing getting loaded today is his liver.

The Escape Pod could put one person in cold storage and launch them back homewards, sending a distress beacon all the way. With a little luck, and a lot of patience the person could conceivably be picked up by friendlies. Not that it matters now, because he just launched the escape pod into the sun. Now they’re all truly stuck until the alien is dead. Or they’re dead. He briefly considers if it was the right choice, but counters that thought with a quick consultation from Captain Morgan.

Kerouac flips through the security feeds. The Engineer appears to have squirreled their way into a supply closet and is busying themselves with something that is certainly off-regulation. He fights the urge to give her a stern talking-to about the rules on his ship. Elsewhere, the Soldier and the Janitor appear to be walking together back towards the Sleeping Quarters.

The fourth panel is supposed to be showing the Kitchen. Kerouac gives the screen a few hopeful taps, and takes a lucky shot of something off-blue, to make it work again. Whether by percussive maintenance or fortunate happenstance, it works.

Through the camera he sees the Cook, who is apparently searching for something. The search is no easy task for one who is completely blind, but that does not deter said cook at all. Normally Kerouac would be opposed to having someone with such an impediment for a space flight. But very few cooks can make a proper steak in zero-gravity, and in that war his stomach won.

Kerouac’s communicator brings up nothing but janky bursts of static now. He decides to keep himself busy with the crew logs and a shot of some french sounding drink instead.

Medic: Thistle Crow. Age 32. Earth-born, a rare sight to see these days. He served as medical aid throughout most of North America until chemical damage forced him to be relocated to Mars for surgery. After a few years rest for recovery, he now enlists in spaceflights to bring medical aid there whenever possible.

Engineer; Sparrow Jager. Age 28. Born and raised on a Jupiter platform. Suffers from severe anxiety, the likes of which would normally prevent her from getting work in spaceflight. She was only let on board with certification from some government doctor.

The two supposedly got into some sort of romance behind closed doors, but such activity is NOT ALLOWED on Kerouac’s ship! Even if he did find it adorable.

Speak of the devil, the Medic finally got back to him.

Medic:Safe, bjusy, is men.

Well that doesn’t explain much of anything. Cameras are still down, too. He hopes they’ll be back up soon. It does get a little lonely in the Command Module.

>Be the medic

Thistle Crow doesn’t want to die like this.

He’s lost a lot of blood, and to make matters worse he’s fairly certain the alien uses some sort of venom. He feels cold, and his extremities have become dull and unresponsive. Crow barely managed to form a reply to the Captain’s message, and now he can’t even move his fingers enough to reply to Sparrow’s. He wishes Sparrow was here already. He wishes he had more time. He wishes he didn’t act like such an ass the last time they met.

He hears someone enter the Movie Theater.

Crow barely even saw the alien before it attacked. It was shortly after he left the Sleeping Quarters. The lighters faltered, and in that moment something leapt out at him. It managed to bury a stinger on his side before he ran off. Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, it hurts. He could barely even see it when he ran away. It’s one of the men, he knows that for sure.

“You’ve got a birthmark on your butt shaped like a-”

“Okay, okay, I believe you!” Sparrow shuffles closer. She reaches out tentatively to touch Crow’s wound, but can’t quite muster the courage to do it.

“It’s not that bad, I’ll be okay,” Crow lies. He inhales sharply as he tries to sit up a little more. She’s scared, he needs to look calm and collected as he dies. “You uh… wouldn’t happen to have a Med-Kit, would you?”

Sparrow shakes her head. It was worth a shot.

“Alright. I need you to listen carefully. I’m not going to be able to help you out with this one. I need to…” Bleed out, succumb to venom, who knows what else. “...rest. Here. You’ll have to handle this problem alone.”

“...but…”

“You can do it. I believe in you. The thing is one of the other guys. It causes electrical disturbances, lights flickering, communicator problems, all that spooky skeleton bullshit. If you see that, run. If you’re okay with ditching the gaggle of assholes we call a crew I’d recommend running straight to the Escape Pod. All things considered, I’d recommend the escape pod even if you liked any of those other guys. If you want to stay though, then we have a bigger problem.”

“The air vent, do you hear anything?”

She listens quietly, and shakes her head again.

It only doesn't make sense if you assume the alien has the same oxygen requirements we do, or that it's not carrying emergency air as part of its plan. (And it could always choose to turn the air back on later if it needs it. The sabotage could be intentionally reversible).

The oxygen can wait a little longer, it's your blood oxygen levels that are most pressing. Speaking of pressing, apply pressure to your wound with a strip of cloth or something. Sparrow's bandanna, for instance? Give her the key to the med lab too, if you don't give it to someone they'll just loot it off your body anyway. Tell her to bring the stinger there for analysis of the venom.

Okay, if we assume reliable narrators (so none of the perspective characters have been the alien), and if we assume the alien isn't shape-shifting quickly and at will and has actually assumed the role of one of the others, then it's currently the cook, the soldier, or the janitor. (My guess would be the cook).

Throw out the latter assumption, and anyone we encounter could be the alien. Throw out the former and flat out anyone could be.

>medkit
Went back over the panels hoping we'd passed a box on a wall with a cross somewhere, but nope. We haven't even seen one. (It would be good practice to have them stationed in regular intervals around the ship in case of emergencies, but I wouldn't be surprised if incompetence or sabotage means we won't find one nearby).

Chef Taylor is at least 90% certain that somebody is about to walk into his kitchen. If he assumes it’s not the Captain (who is drunk, as always), then he would say it’s a 25% chance of it being an evil, shapeshifting alien. He supposes he should be prepared for the worst.

Taylor’s current inventory contains:
One rather large knife
One chef hat
Keys to Food Storage

>can you EAT the command module
If he were still in his mature body, yes. Unfortunately, the collision forced him to revert to a relatively infantile state. He’s not very fond of it, as it feels sluggish, slow-witted, and very limited compared to his full form. Though even in this state he knows himself to be an apex predator amongst this species. Oh how he wishes he could just launch out here and drift out amongst the stars. To sleep and dream for sweet eons at a time. But first, breakfast.

MacKenzie, or rather, the alien possessing MacKenzie’s appearance, would very much like to maintain cover for as long as it remains useful.

His current inventory includes:
Key-card, Armory
One Med-Kit
Two cigars, questionably cuban.
One chocolate bar.
A sketchbook filled with doodles of naked men. How lewd, MacKenzie. How lewd.

He could…
[1]Try to figure out a way into the command module. The Captain shouldn’t have camera access to this room yet, so he can still figure out a clever lie to sneak in there.

Nutrition! He already attempted to gorge himself on their food storage, but found most of it to be filled to the brim with artificial products. It was… unpleasant to purge, to say the least.

>Why the command module?
The Captain is in there! He’s a sitting duck. Granted, the sitting duck behind heavy locked doors and sealed vents.

MacKenzie resolves to travel to the Armory first. Perhaps he’ll find something of use on the way. If he recalls right, the only way from one ring to the next should be through the air-locks, which he had previously forced shut.

...and have since been opened again. He can hear someone talking from here. They’re breathing heavily, exhausted. Probably strained themselves doing something wasteful, he muses.

“I can’t... I can’t take you any farther. I’m sorry. ...Crow? Come on Crow, talk to me. Don’t- don’t fall asleep now. I’ll figure something out. That’s what you said, right? That I can figure this out. Wake up. Please wake up.”

Sparrow couldn’t manage to drag Crow any farther than this. Just past the airlock connecting the first and second ring. Hardly even halfway to the Med-Bay. He hasn’t been responding to her words for a few minutes now. Maybe he’s just asleep. She hasn’t had the courage to check his pulse yet. She just has to figure out a way to get him to med-bay and he’ll be alright. She can use a, uh, defibrillator? That always works in the movies. She’s too exhausted to carry him any further now though. The only thing keeping her going is adrenaline. At least her trap worked. Maybe. She hopes.

Her current inventory contains:
One wrench
One roll of duct tape
One canister of WD-40
18 17 anxiety pills-
3 ‘cigarettes’
Key, supply closet
Keycard, Med-Bay
One smoke bomb.
One taser

Sparrow isn’t sure if it’s the pills or the draining oxygen supply but she is starting to feel lightheaded.

She peeks over the shelf to check the body. Maybe if she strikes now she can kill it? Or maybe it’s faking out and will attack her first. She doesn’t want to die.

That's a smile. It's faking it. Unless you can trigger the door to pin it you're gonna have to run. It's wounded so it'll be slower.

Discreetly check Crow's pulse. If he's flatlined, at least you'll be reassured as you run for it. As you go, see if you can call the captain and tell him the soldier is the alien and he needs to cut off its pursuit for you and/or get the sentry guns to kill it. You and the captain are probably the only ones left alive now.

Actually maybe you should text the captain BEFORE you start running.

Cover its unnerving stare with duct tape. Spray that thing with WD-40 (it is rocket fuel, after all) and reset the taser trap so if it moves, it goes up in flames. Even if extinguishers kick in, it'll be covered in foam and also tasered. Now, go to life support and fix it.

Okay. You can't approach, or it might eat you. You can't leave, cause if you do, it'll eat the medic while you're gone.

You could try alerting the captain. Maybe he can held, now that he knows where the alien is?

>She just has to figure out a way to get him to med-bay
You need wheels. A dolly or something.

...wait. The alien didn't like artificial chemicals. And I'll bet the immature jellyfish bell is more squishier and more permeable than when it's shifted into a shape. Spray it in the face (at range) with the WD40. Poison that sucker.

Technically they're contraband, but Sparrow doesn't see the fault in bringing a little herb that helps her sleep at night.

Sparrow moves down and checks Crow's pulse without looking away from the thing. She struggles to find it, partly due to her own shaking hands. It's barely even there. She wants to cry. She wants to be anywhere but here.

Sparrow whips out her can of WD-40 to spray the damn thing, bringing it to bear just in time to accidentally intercept a strike from the alien. A stinger pierces straight through the canister, turning a dark murky color as it comes into contact with the chemicals.

How many different vents do we have in this one room? Prep that many barrels. Open up one end (hopefully there's a neat little screw-cap), reseal it with the flimsiest possible layer of duct tape, then kick it toward a vent, semi-open end first. Conservation of momentum means that when the barrel hits the wall, fluid inside will want to keep moving, so the loose cap will pop off and squirt copious amounts of bone-melty chem gunk out into the vent, like a stomped-on tube of toxic toothpaste.

You can then leave safely via a door, which the captain will unlock for you after the alien is finished learning that The Easy Way Is Always Mined, which any real soldier would have already known.

>vents filled with caustic chemicals
So now if the alien doesn't kill you, or the lack of oxygen doesn't kill you, that's going to kill you when you try to turn the air back on.

Unless we can hook the oxygen supply up to one room and leave the fans off so it doesn't blow through the vents?

Cut gravity? Well... I'm not sure that's a good idea. The alien has tentacles, that means it's good at moving around in zero g.

Really that would only help if it prevented the chemicals from getting places we don't want it to be. Considering it's rotational artificial gravity, air turbulence makes things very weird. Sparrow should have a general idea of how unreasonable the rotation would make trying to avoid the chemicals.

Are there any hazmat suits anywhere that could let us just kindof ignore the chemicals until we can vent them (after the alien is dead ofc)? Or can we seal off this section of the ship? Is there more than one air purification system? Can we disconnect it from this part of the ship?

Head to... hmm. If the alien is smart it's going to try to vent the ship on its own. We need to find a way to stop it. Find a weapon of some sort? ...those chems are flammable, right? We could kill it just by getting to a room we can seal off, then flicking a match into the vents. The pressure wave would pulp it.

Do 3, and rig the engine to overcrank and explode. Immediately afterwards make a dash to the escape pods, and attempt an escape. If you have the time you can try to get Crow, but he is presumably eaten by now.

Another option is to get Crow's communicator, and bluff the Alien with saying that you have a) disabled the pods, and b) rigged the ship to explode. Then you can try to lure the alien to the engine room and take him down there, or alternatively get the Captain to open the armoury and give you access to the weapons within.

Sparrow runs off to find Crow, hoping that he is still alive, somehow.

...or not.

Sparrow decides to bottle up all her feelings and hope that they will just go away on their own.

Plan B: Sparrow runs towards the Command Module, taking her back through to the First-Ring. Eugh, it seems like the chemicals have already reached here, too. The hissing sound can be heard from here, as well. Not to mention she still can’t feel her hands.

Digital chimes pop to life over the speaker systems, followed by a synthesized voice. “Vacuum warning has been declared in the following areas: Engines, Second-Ring.”

Oh joy. At least the emergency airlocks should be kicking in soon.

Any second now.

Or… or not?

Sparrow does not like the sound of this.

Are there any airlocks you can seal manually? Or a hard-suit you can get to?

If you don't establish a place you can breath, you're gonna be dead real soon.

Grab that helmet and get it on or die.

And then grab onto something before you're thrown out to drift in space forever.
>>
No. 666182 ID: fef726

Go for the helmet, quickly. Also I can think of a reason why the alien would empty the air in here. It is likely it is headed here to escape the chemicals and save its own bacon. Think you can set up a trap after you prevent yourself from, you know death from lack of oxygen?

Does this hardsuit have magnetic boots? If so, activate them so you don't go flying.

Grab that helmet, put it on, hold onto something until the air current stops, then grab some air canisters. Use the air canisters for reaction mass if you have to spacewalk.

Contemplate possible methods of survival now that there are holes in the ship. Is it even possible to repair this damage anymore?

Looks like we just opened a can full of nope. The alien survives in space so no point trying to throw it out of the ship. The way i see her best options are to get to the Captain so they can take it down together. The alien is weak ti toxic chemicals and by the sound of it the captain is 50% booze so that should work. Her options right now are to either somehow get around the alien or go to the outside of the ship and get back in from another airlock.

It's using the doors to control the strength and direction of the vacuum. It has eaten the captain already. It poked holes in its suit, so it's no longer protected from chems, but unless there's somewhere VERY close by where we can get some and use it, this is it.

Alternatively, if there's anything explosive or sharp nearby we can chuck that at it. Ooor if we can poke a hole in a window or something near it so that it gets sucked out like spaghetti ALA Alien 3...

Well fuck. Look around for another airlock. Do you know the overall layout of the outside/inside of the ship?

Again, does the suit have magnetic boots? Or any sort of thrusters? If not you're gonna have to look for a path that has handholds, or find something with the reaction mass you need to maneuver.

...optimally we'd be looking for an airlock near the armory. Also, I thought of a potential trap we can set. Get another hardsuit, fill it with caustic chemicals, put it somewhere that the alien is likely to find.
>>
No. 666218 ID: d93d23

Well, what's useful and near an airlock?

Your suit has come sort of radio, right? Get in touch with the captain if he's still there.
>>
No. 666232 ID: a107fd

Please tell me the suit includes some cold-gas maneuvering thrusters or a grapple gun or SOMETHING so you're not super-slow-mo boned if you lose your grip.

No cook and no medic means odds of long-term survival are looking bad. Time to think of the larger strategic situation. Make your way to the ship's long range comm system, or better yet a weapons-grade laser, and set it up to send a signal back to Earth.

This is not horror movie monster-victim ominous-journal-making behavior. You are simply an engineer, doing your job correctly. You found a mission-critical bug, you looked for ways to fix it, and now you're going to report your findings to the manufacturer so they can improve the next version.

What? Is that another survivor? Oh hey there's a planet in the background, neat.

If you have a radio in the suit, warn them about the predatory alien chasing you. Phrase it so that the alien can't tell you're actually seeing anyone, and are just broadcasting blindly to anyone that might hear you. The more information we deny the alien the better. Although at this point it has almost all the information, having eaten six people.

(I'm actually wondering why it hasn't just left yet. Is it pissed off because Sparrow injured it three times? There's no way it didn't eat the medic. No way. Unless...)

Sparrow how much WD-40 got on the medic when the canister exploded? If a lot of it got on him then the alien didn't eat him.
>>
No. 666456 ID: e114bc

Of course, this is assuming that is someone wearing a hardsuit (someone that survived the original collision and got trapped outside the ship, but had a hardsuit), and not the alien somehow reaching across the entire station to make a doppleganger of the suitless captain to lure you into a trap. I can't tell actually. If it's the latter stay away obviously, veer right or something.
