>What else can you mess with?
I'm a super wizard.
I can do anything.
Haha, well, no.
I can analyze the hell of out strings, though. I'm learning a lot. Stage 7 just had one kind of strings, so I just practiced maneuvering through them and stuff. Sort of like playing scales on the piano for so long that hard songs are now way easier.
That's not a good analogy, but oh well.
>So what you looking at Glitcher?
Sometimes I let myself clip through the floor and just, well, fall for awhile. I'm under the stage, so I guess that's what I'm looking at it. That or space.
>Okay what did you do exactly
There's a lot connected, so I can get Alison's string. I can look at her entire past, but I can also bend a little bit here and there, and put a little emphasis on some of its patterns than others. The patterns being her thoughts. In this case, push her towards making a new decision, to kill butter.
Then, things are basically deterministic, so by reading the stages strings, I can emulate the stage to then see what would happen if Alison made that decision. The problem is is that I glitch up the strings in doing so, and, well, if I do it too much I can tell the future for a long ways, but first off it takes awhile, second off it glitches things too much.
If I glitch just a little, it's easily fixed on its own. The world has a lot of stabilization measures. If I do it too much, well, I don't know. So it's a trick to tell as much as I can while glitching as little as possible. It's also tough since I'm using the stage string to emulate the other people, which is tough.
Glitch self fixing takes a couple moments, too, so I can't just constantly check out every little which way things could go.
>Can you look ahead at all on this side of the decision? Any idea what the ghosts are gonna do now? They have to find some way to cope without her.
I can look ahead for about 10 to 15 seconds.
Or I can wait about 10 to 15 seconds and find out anyway.
I can see everything, though. Rulekeep is thinking to herself. I'd have to see her strings to see those thoughts.
>What happens when you cross the strings?
That happens when people touch each other or the stage. It's fine.
I don't know what would happen if I just tied strings from different sources together though. Maybe explode, maybe nothing.
>Did Alison do the right thing? How do you feel about that?
I haven't known what the right thing is in... well, maybe ever. I've just trusted in Alison to know what's right and wrong, so since she did it, she has my support, even if it's a decision that came out of the blue for me.
I thought I'd be sadder if Alison died. I'm probably not since I can still talk to her.
>How are the others doing?
Oh, decently, I guess. Except out of 32 of Alison's followers that I actually know, 8 of them lost to a previous cycle counterpart. Which is actually pretty good, since it would be more like 24 out of 32 if it was just a normal 1/5 shot for everyone, but most ghosts had a bias towards current cyclers.
>What are your options, now? You're mostly trying to observe and learn, and Alison wanted you to talk with Rulekeep later. But what can you do now?
Hey, that's a good question.
I don't know the full answer.
I want to know how Rulekeeper pulled out people from previous cycles. Oh, if I knew that... ah, I shouldn't daydream and get my hopes up. Let me think...
"Abilities":
Search String
I can look at everyone's past, and the entire stage. I can inspect two strings at once and see how they interact to a degree. What interacting does is something I should experiment more with.
Inject Variable
If I can isolate what a person says or feels, I can modify that as long as there's a suitable replacement pattern nearby. So if Alison had full conviction one way, I couldn't see what would happen if the other happened. She was split, though, so it was easy.
This needs two strings, the instigator and the receptor. So far all I've done is have the instigator be a person to make a new decision, and the receptor be the stage to emulate the actual effect. What I'm doing is so broad, there's got to be other implementations.
Stop Time
There's a lot of particles that keep people in sync with each other. I can deflect those for a single person and myself, but it takes nearly all my concentration now ever since the system managed to change time. Maybe later I can learn to do it for more. For now, I just use it to teleport small distances.
Teleport
Some connections are hard to reach, and some I just can't reach right now, but I do believe that everything, and I mean everything that we have ever touched or known is connected. Right now I can teleport to any place and any safe zone. I can't go to the ghost-zone on my own, but if I can borrow a string from a living person, I can go there and use the same string to get back.
Difficult but possible areas are the system, reserve areas such as where I put the corrupted sanctuary.
Out of reach areas, where I have the power to go but don't have the right items or strings to know where to go are the corrupted sanctuary if it still exists, the actual sanctuary, and CAI battles. And maybe, just maybe, depending on how rulekeep pulled out those previous cycles people... I could go to previous cycles.
But I feel like there's more than just that. Specifically, whatever barrier is between us and the whole outside world we hear about.
Ghost Talk
I don't necessarily need to go to the ghost zone to talk to ghosts. I still have my ghost phone, but it needed a string from a living person. I stored it inside of myself from a willing volunteer, but it has been dissolving since stage 7 ended.
Time Travel
I can't do that, but in theory, it's possible. It's not true time travel, of course, it's more that everything ever might be saved, and if I could find a way to load that, then, there's that.
Recreate person
I never really understood what made me too well, but my current theory is that my strings aren't really even strings, they're like if strings were taken into a back alley, beat up, and tossed over a string-shaped... object. I guess. My point is that I think my strings, since they're already so glitched, can be toyed around with a lot more than other people's, sort of like a blank slate. I don't understand it fully yet, and it's a little scary to manipulate something I don't understand, but if I could do it, then I may be able to copy and paste people's strings into my own, either to recreate them. Or actually just to save people's strings for later use if - oh damn that's a really good idea I'm going to rename the ability to Copy and Paste.
I dunno, I just made that list up right now to organize my thoughts. There might be something I'm forgetting I can still do. These aren't actual abilities like the stage gives, it's more just stuff I can do by doing more basic stuff. Right now I'm probably doing the string equivalent of being able to propulse myself with my legs and create sound using vocal chords, and then saying I have the ability Jumpyell while not realizing they can also be used for Run and communicate.
>You should totally fuck with Rulekeep's strings as soon as possible.
I should, but I guess I should let her do it on her own terms. And if she breaks her promise to talk to me after seeing Alison keep her own promise at her own life, then that's fucked up.
