[Wiki: http://quest.lv/wiki/CheeQuest ]

Hello, everyone! It's been a few days since we last talked, but things have been pretty calm. There's no word on my possible banishment, but it's been on our minds. Kradis has been teaching me the basics of surviving outdoors, and I've been at Chop's dojo a lot, either practicing majic with the other healers or fighting a bit too. Fraga taught me how to throw a fireball, too! I can't make a very strong one yet, but it is nice to be able to get warmed up, also to put out fires. After all, the cardinal rule of pyromancy is to never summon a fire you can't put out!

Fraga says that I should work on my concentration in order to use some advanced spells, so I've been hard at work for it.

>Anyway, you all wouldn't happen to know a fail-safe method of killing a crazy hammerdwarf, would you?
Traps are preferred. You got any handy? Melee and dwarves is a horrible combination.
>>

Trying to fight a hammerdwarf is easy: stay away from the hammer, and aim for the head. If you're lucky, you can penetrate the head and pierce the liver all in one hit!
>>
No. 326127 ID: cd63e9

honestly if you can out run him that would be my advice. if you don't feel confidant of being able to outrun him, sneak up behind him and pray to god that your fist strike kills him.
>>
No. 326130 ID: 3c585f

ok Shabin, here are a couple things to keep in mind. the weapon you have brought is suitable for some very special things when it comes to a melee. the big 2:
it's shape makes it very useful for hooking. basically, if you can get the counterweight or the head (or if yours is double headed, either head) behind something, you can pull it towards you. more popular applications of hooking include pulling legs out from under things, and pulling swings in too close. basically if a dwarf is trying to hit you with a hammer, if you pull him too close he will either stumble, or hit you with the handle, which hurts a far cry less than the business end of anything.
it's designed to break through things. basically you want to aim for the joints, but if you can't find any you're applying all the force to a small point.

if you think you're up to the task, what i would recommend here is tripping the dwarf and then putting the pick through their head while they're busy being ass over teakettle.

>>326119
Well, you could make him fall in love with you and then eat his soul, that should leave him pretty much open to kill manually. If that's not within your abilities, try hiding or disappearing, then getting behind him and swinging your pick through the place where his helmet meets his plate, and into the spine. These dwarves don't seem to wear gorgets.
>>
No. 326132 ID: 1854db

>>326130
Yeah, tripping him then finishing the job is probably the best plan, so long as you're strong enough to pull his legs out from under him.

it was the big good, actually, but more on that later. for now, avoid revealing yourself unless an opening presents itself.

actually, he seems to be approaching you. can you swing your pick into his face through the visor of his helmet at maximum momentum?

>>326119
If it helps any, Chee doesn't naturally have those skills. They come from all these souls that were grafted onto her. (So do we, now that I mention it.)

Before attacking, it is important to consider what your pick is made out of, and what his armor looks like it is made out of. An if your pick is copper and his armor looks like steel, the pick probably won't be able to penetrate. If your pick is a similar material, it probably will be able to.

You don't seem bothered by the fact that Chee has a bunch of souls caged inside her.

Anyone else around? Any other dwarves? Using your newfound combat ability further would be a good idea. If there's nobody left to kill, the next most important thing to do is find other healthy kobolds and coordinate with them to speed the healing of those still alive.

I bet Chee is good enough at healing at this point to bring people back from the very brink of death, by the way.

Trouble is someone's got to die before you can get their soul. Someone really skilled and awesome. This soul thing is more like an afterthought or an echo of what they once were. So no, don't depend on the souls too much. Because you'll just end up facing the people who haven't been killed yet, who will ergo be more awesome. It's great if you are in a bind against someone with a good deal less skill than your soul, but focus on your own skills first. If you're the stuff of greatness you will surpass anything we can do.

Guys, I just noticed something.

The chief is a coblold who is wearing a hat that can easily conceal horns (hidden inside the hollowed out horns on his hat). And the chief just happened to show up at precisely the right time to make sure Uberpally got killed.

We must find a way to remove his hat to be sure. (Alternately we might take a quick dip into his mind, but that risks him getting some of our power.)

yes that is something you should not do. also you don't get that much out of a soul. just an aptitude, basically having the soul of a great warrior would give you a knack for that warriors fighting style. chee probably gave you some dwarfish souls, hence a bit of an understanding of how they fight.

There's not a whole lot of dwarves left, actually. A moment ago, the paladins began fleeing. They must have sensed their hero fell.

We're not going to let a single dwarf leave, to report what happened here. I caught Kradis talking about these guys, specifically, the paladins. These are, if you didn't deduce already, the best. And when their home learns that the best fell to what was before an insignificant kobold encampment?

That's not to say that they simply went missing is much better. It just buys us some time before they begin investigating.

In the long term? We were just placed on the map with a dagger.

We should probably take Shabin with us... it just seems like a wise decision to have backup.

Recruit Shabin, Chop and Fraga to go with you. All adventurers need a party, even if they are kobolds.

the cutebold that could eat souls: non-exalted edition

well you do want such a huge future for yourself. id say for you to stay until you get a bit more of physical training.

then we will need to research how to kill liches. a human town can do that for us, i think.

screw physical training, I say we invest all our points into magic. because, you know, the souls of two liches and who knows what other spellcaster.

see if anyone who can teach you things, preferebly of spellcasty nature, is willing to accompany you.

HELL YES CHEE!

By the way, I'm not sure if you figured this out yet, but you have a soul. It's just hiding. Also, you're a girl!

Personally I think we should visit either the first town your parents lived in or the second. The dragon is on the way, so we should visit them first. Based on any information they give us- wait what gender is the dragon anyway?- we can decide where to go next.

Going to check the human town might give us some clues, but we actually have no indication that there is anything related to you there. Best case scenario we don't get immediately attacked because you're a kobold and somehow find a mage that doesn't immediately attack you because you've got necromantic magics about you, then somehow manage to get him to tell you where the liches are... Yeah, not gonna happen.

I do think we should stay briefly to give a proper goodbye to your friends, and also I'm still curious about what makes Shabin's eyes glow. Also why Chop calls her rock eater. Does she actually eat rocks or is that just a term for a miner?

So about having a nice place to always come back too...

I would think that the Holy Dwarven Church would not give up so not-so-easily. And the Paladins of the Humans and Elves probably would take interest in the obliteration of such renown figures. So the Kobolds are definitely gonna nomad the fuck away, consider accompanying them for a while, whilst they set up a new camp so you know where they are.

Get as many of everything that is useful to you, moar kni- No wait your good at all ranged things, get moar everything, some potions of different effects for special situations and possibly a small melee weapon (or better yet, if they have it, a friggin Swordstaff) when magic fails to be an advantage.

Also we really should try to bring some people with us, even if it's just Shabin, backup is always a plus.

actually, if you kill the Litch king and get proof. that might get you enough credit with the dwarfs and paladins and such that you could ask them to stop trying to murder your people.
