The Siren Poralla scouts ahead silently in the water

A half-breed and a Prismatican magus are speaking
She knows the half-breed he was a servant within the household, he flirted with the Siren.
his name was Damien.

The Magus speaks with a harsh tone "Though your passage into the city got a Harroctar in, to many escaped. too many survivors"

Damien laughs, "That speaks more to the ineffective nature of your killers, than my usefulness, no hand me my fee if you want to infiltrate any future cities"

The magus hisses and hands the traitor his coin, a disgusting exchange.

Retreat and tell the elves what a scumbag Damien is!

commit those faces to memory, to let other cities know later. Slip away before they can spot you.

We need to regroup and see how to get past them.

One thing though, if everything goes wrong the siren has to just focus on escape through the waterway, to carry word of the traitor to others lest they too fall prey to this betrayal.
If theres some signet or sigil she can bear amongst us all, something that would lend weight to her claims if she does hve to flee alone,give it to her now rather than later in the midst of peril.

The siren returns to the elves and tells them what she has heard and seen.

Turit winces in pain and hatred "Curse that Damien, of course his weak human blood would lead him to this greed fueled betrayal!"

Ushamerea is confident as a poet she can use a well spoken word to convince others of this threat "if other cities are in peril we must warn them, but can't reach them if we don't get out of the caves of memory."

It should be possible to just drift by them in the water. Poralla can assist, pushing them by one at a time when close to the traitor's spot. In dim caves, slow movements with minimal noise should be enough to slip past.

Do you actually need to sneak past them? They're not looking for you, and they're probably about to leave themselves. If you can find a hiding place you could just wait.

Is this a catacomb? If so there are probably various niches you could hide in.

Quick! Send Poralla to spy them again to if they are kissing!

Oh, and set up a trap by making her and Turit atract them both to peek at the waters edge, then drag them down into it. Sirens and elves are good at that!

Porala offers a solution "pretty sure can swim quiet and fast, get everyone out of cave!"

Turit shakes his head "That won't work for me, my injured leg will attract the luminous moon fish that live here, I'd give us away, but if you leave me the healing herbs I should be able to patch up my leg and catch up to the rest outside"

"you can't!" Ushamerea objects "It's much to dangerous and you have no arrows left! we must find another way!"

Cauterize the wound.

Even an elf warrior may scream at cauterization.

Knowing what they react to... possible to draw them away?
Use the sign of moonfish attracted to something to draw away the traitors?

We cant just leave him...

So the fish are attracted to blood? Then if you took a used bandage it could be used as a fish lure.

If most of the party slips away in the water, then Turit and perhaps an assistant could sneak along the bank up to the bend with two pillars across from the conspirators. From there, they could dip a bloody bandage into the water until fish come for it, then let it drift away. The conspirators will see the fish following the blood, which will let them know that someone is upstream. This will prompt them to either leave or investigate where the blood came from, which is when Turit can sneak past after they pass his hiding spot.

He is a seasoned warrior (Or at lest looks like one) and should be able to survive by himself. If he is sure he can make it, is not a bad idea.

The priority is to escape to other cities and spread the word about the traitor and the Harroctar invasion. Getting divided could even be a good thing should one of the two sides fail in their route to freedom.

An alternate solution would be to send the siren by herself if she can escape on her own and the elves can try another route. If I'm not mistaken this body of water connects with the exterior so escaping should be easy for her. The measures are taken against elves not sirens.

Also it would be useful to watch Damien to get an idea of what city he might try to infiltrate next. If Turit is in good enough condition to spy on and/or track him, this could be an invaluable opportunity.

"We must trust in Turit" Eranil whispers "we could do little for him anyways if we were spotted together"

"Right" Turit agrees "either way someone needs to find out what city they're targeting next and get word to them in time."

Iolantha looks to Porala "Porala How will you get us all to safety, can you get us close enough to hear their plan?"

The siren nods "I think so, Elves very light, I could pull all three but would be slower, would work better with rope"

Ushamerea seems unimpressed "We don't have rope..."

Eranil thinks "Maybe there's something else we can use

We don’t have ropes, but we do have Eranil’s garter belt and straps. Does anyone else have those, too? One is flimsy, but multiple sets around Dalvari’s waist could work well as a makeshift tow belt. And of course we have several robes.

Failing that, why not use Delvari’a wrap as a grab hold?

Im sure there were some good knots and strong ties in that book by togel loveseat, but we dont have that right now. What about belts or bowstring? Not a good thing to a do to a warriors weapon, but an empty quiver makes the best bow as useful as firewood...
The belts and bowstring would have to be combined with other materials to make a good enough substitute.

Do you actually need a rope? Or could you just have her wear Turit's cloak and the others hold on to that?

If that won't work, check your environment. For all we know there are tapestries, burial shrouds, decorative chains, tree roots, excessively thick spiderwebs, or other materials laying around that could be pressed into service.

After bidding farewell to Turit, Poralla pulls the elves along, they stop for a moment to see if they can over hear the traitor's next target.

Damien is in the midst of speaking "...well if you're really that confident than Aurallar it is, I'll pack my bags"

The mage follows up with "Make haste, Aurallar will soon divine our plan and tell others, you have one moon half-breed"

The mountain village of Aurallar, Eranil knows it well.

We have a destination and a deadline. As still as you can ladies, in mind and body. Let your waterborn ally take control. Its her environment. Trust her to move you all safely.

Stay as still has you can, just let Poralla pull you. Its imperative you get this info out.

Okay NOBODY MOVE

So far, so good. At least one of you should go somewhere else, in case Aurallar gets attacked sooner than he said; but that's a problem for later. For now you just need to get out of this cave. We probably don't want to stay close to them any longer than we have to, especially once they're done talking, so time to drift on by.

Knowing their target and their accomplice is enough. Don't take any risks

The more of them there are, the more likely one is going to notice you if you stay here too long; if not the prismaticans, then the harroctar they probably have in those cages.

Besides, just seeing them here is useful intelligence; now you know that this is the route they took into your city.

The channel continues, and begins to increase in current.

the channel branches,
A) Left path, there is a patrolling prismatican raider, and the water and the bridge is blocked bellow in the water.
B) Right path goes over a short cliff, the waterfall could injure elves, but it leads into the wilderness.
C) to the right there are stairs leading up further into the cliffs

Well, right is the route given the blocked bridge. I dont think trying to tackle the guard and drown them is worth the risk.

If we head right in the water and see how far of a drop it is, we could devide if it was worth the risk and if not choose the stairs, should the ladies know if it heads to a safer exit.

Im presuming the siren will be able to make the waterfall jump safely and make a bid for freedom.

I have an idea:
We try to kill the raider by throwing him into the waterfall. If he survives, the siren can take him to safety - as her prisoner. If he doesn't survive then we don't take the waterfall route.

We are not trained for combat and if we alert the raider he's going to alert the camp we just passed; and then we get more harroctar. We need to keep to stealth.

It seems like Poralla is going to be in the worst position here, and is going to probably have no choice but to go over the waterfall; it's not like the elves can carry her, and I can't imagine she can get through that blockage any better than they can.

As for the others, I feel like the stairs are probably the best option. These caves are crawling with prismaticans and we have almost nothing to work with down here. Even if we could get past the one on the left we wouldn't have Poralla to take us through the water anymore, and if anyone broke a leg jumping over the waterfall it would be a death sentence in our current situation.

We do have to consider the geography of Orisyelle. Is the cliff path likely to be a dead end? Is it going to take us back to an area full of harroctar? Why are the prismaticans guarding the other path but not that one? If going up there would be as dangerous as going back to the manor, we should take our chances with the waterfall.

Elves should take the stairs, Poralla takes the falls and gets out to spread the word.

Unless any of the elfs doesn't count with being able to survive the waterfall, right is the safest choice. They are not going to drown thanks to the siren and the water will muffle most of the noise.

It could be troublesome if there were more enemies outside, but if this attack was made with stealth, then it would be strange they extended the camp outside of the cave where they are conceled.

The bigest dangers would be getting an ankle sprain and latter being tailed by Harroctar in the wilderness. Or making enough sound, so the guard alert his friends. In the other paths the biggest danger is that path not leading to an exit and end trapped.

Porala nods "everyone brace for a drop!"

Eranil tries to instill hope "Hold strong sisters and we'll make it through this!
Ushamerea whimpers as she holds on tight

the four go over the waterfall and land with a splash

Porala: perfect action!

We got lucky.
Not into the woods yet.
I know, the saying works the other way normally, but for fleeing elves in danger thats a good places to hide before spreading the warning...

I do hope our warrior friend is ok.

The tension! Be aware of the coast, it's possible for the invaders to have put a guard to hunt fleeing survivors.

Made it out alive. But you need to keep moving, until you're sure the trail is gone.

A very good outcome. Our chances of getting out of this mess alive just got significantly better.

Do we think we made enough noise to attract that guard's attention? If so, we want to get under the cover of the trees (and have Poralla go to the bottom of the river) before he comes to check it out. It would be a terrible shame to be caught when we're so close to escaping their notice.

Otherwise, if we can stay in the water, that's what we should do for as long as we can. Harroctar will be basically blind to us unless we make a lot of noise splashing, which we shouldn't have to do as long as we're with Poralla. Prismaticans might be harder to fool; but of all the paths we could have used to leave the city, this is probably the one they would expect the least. We're hardly in the clear, but any we encounter are unlikely to be actively looking for escapees, and we can probably slip by them the same way we did the ones in the cave.

Either way, we want to get as far from the city as we can before stopping to rest. If we can manage to get out of sight of it without encountering any prismaticans, we might be able to relax a little.
