The elven kingdoms are despised,
So much so that the Prismaticans damned their souls to create the "Harroctar".
The Harroctar are abominations that live only to hunt and kill elves.

Thye are hounds unleashed, nothing can control them,
for three hundred years they have slaughtered elves.
In three hundred years the elven kingdoms fell from the masters of the world to shadows.
Today the wrath of the slayers fall upon the Kingdom of Maerieyelle

Three would be survivors huddle in terror, having just watched friends and family torn to pieces.
aid them if you can, or let them perish and fade into memory

'How can these monsters be killed Turit?' the florist asks

The elven archer gives the answer he's long considered'The best way I know of is a piecing strike from the back, where their armor is weakest'

Open conflict is too frightening for the flower arranger'is there some easy way to avoid them, or hide from them?'

Turit responds clinically 'fire, between the sound, the smell and the heat, Harroctar are left nearly blind around fire.'

Ushamerea doesn't find this very helpful, fire is rare in Orisiyelle, few elves use it.

she takes the grappling hook, and slinks back to the ledge where the Maid is waiting.
The elf considers tearing her dress for Eranil to use as a handlebar, but the fabric is too strong. she could probably just toss fellow survivor her apron instead.

The Florist takes a few practice swings with the grappling hook but is worried about hitting Eranil.

Eranil ties her dress up so that it doesn't get in the way.

Questions:

-Is Turit in a good place to hit one of the Harroctar in the back of the head?
-Can we use said apron to help ferry the rest of the sisters over to Eranil's location?
-Any flammable materials nearby? Sounds like fire is going to be our best bet of getting by the Harroctar.

I say we not worry about making some noise now in order to ensure Eranil (Poet) has the best chance of making it across the gap, and we have a great head start through the kitchen.

Let’s have Ushamera (Florist) throw the grappling hook over the railing. It’ll make noise as it clanks against the balcony, which will trigger the hunters, but it sure beats hitting Ushamera (Florist) with a friggin grappling hook to the chest. Then Ialantha (Maid) can secure the grappling hook as high up on the vines as she can, and then give Eranil (Poet) her apron to use as a zipline after Ushamera (Florist) ties the other end to the balcony on the opposite side.

Again, they’ll need to move quickly since the hook will make noise and vibrations, but by going toward the kitchen/dining hall, maybe that’ll draw them upstairs to the archer, who can get a clean shot on one of them and go out in a blaze of glory.

I love the idea of fleeing a house in flames, but experience tells me that fire works better when you have a way to put it down or a secured escape plan.

About the grappling hook making sound, it shouldn't if she catches it one the air. For the rest of the plan I agree.

Average action: success!
Ushamerea throws the grappling hook and Eranil catches it without making a sound.

Easy action: success!
Iolantha bundles up her apron and tosses it to Eranil who catches it.

Perfect action!

They hunt via smell, tremor sense, heat sense and hearing. So if we move slowly and keep low (so the heat dissipates before rising) then that's three things it will have trouble finding us with. And everything here smells like elf anyway.

Keep low and slow, and sneak to the kitchen/dining hall.

the three elves silently advance

Ushamerea goes to the archer "Turit with your last arrow can you kill that critter on the wall?"

Turit nods: "I can but you'll need to help me up"

Iolantha peaks into the kitchen, there are several things in there that could be useful;
-Healing herbs to treat injuries
-elven bread, good for travel
-knives, useful for a variety of things
-wood for fire
-bags and pots for carrying things

Iolantha hears the splashing of water from the garden pools! the kitchen is not empty...

Grab the herbs and just enough wood to light a torch of. This will literally save our lives!

If there’s a stove or oven in the kitchen, light that wood NOW. If it’ll take time, just grab the small amount of wood and get back to Turit. If we’re spotted, lure the attacker so it’s back is to Turit, then he shoots!

Turit fires his last arrow into the Harroctar.

the arrow slips between it's armored chitin plunges right into the creatures brain, it collapsed dead making only the thud of it's body falling to the ground.

Turit and Ushamerea wait to hear the scuttling of an alerted creature but no sound is forthcoming. it seems no other monsters heard their pack member die.

Iolantha looks into the kitchen, she doesn't see anything in there she whispers to Eranil ' keep a look out at the water basin, I think somethings hiding inside, I'm going to gather supplies' Eranil nods

Iolantha grabs a bag and quickly fills it with herbs, bread, firewood, and knives.

a splash is heard again, Iolantha turns, there's a Siren in the basin

Eranil recognises her as the exotic singer, and one of the guests for Lord Xielphiane's party. Eranil finds it remarkable that she still lives, without legs it must have been a struggle reaching the kitchen pools,

the siren speaks broken elven 'Please help! Please help!', Iolantha understands why the creature needs help, she is much too large to fit through the drains out to the river. there's no escape that way.

You can't help this poor doomed creature. There's no way to drag her from this place until you can find water outside. There's no escape from that pool.

Let the poor creatures cries alert the enemy and flee as they are distracted eviscerating her. There is no choice here, she can die or you can all die.

Perhaps the maid would know if it is a grate barring escape or an extended araa thats too tight. Bars and frate could be damaged or removed to allow escape but the other impassable.

Eranil tge poet may be able to weave words calming and reassuring to the trapped siren. Panic and noise arevthe most eminent sources of threat right now.

Eranil hums a soothing tune to calm the Siren while Iolantha looks for a way to help.

She loos for a cart of some sort, the closest thing the maid finds is a cake trolley, she rolls it closer to the water.

Iolantha removes the drain cover but the hole isn't nearly large enough for a person to fit through.

I...hm. I feel REALLY friggen bad leaving her to die here.

But I can't think of an efficient way to help her without strongly risking THOSE THINGS hearing the wheels or some such.

Actually, plug back up the drain, they'll hear THAT, too.

Not good. If we could even get her to some flowing water or something, she might even be able to lead them on a chase. I doubt they'd be able to function perfectly well submerged in water. This place wouldn't happen to have a moat or something nearby, would it?

Now that shes calm, in whisper ask her how she got here.
There must be some form of conveyance if the waterway isnt the route she entered by.

Once we know what it is, then maid dalvari may know where itd be kept.
Then theyd be able to decide ifnit was practical.

In the mean tine, im guess the siren is aquatic enough to stay underwater.

May be if she bunches up and tucks down low, staying still as a stone, itd be enough to keep them from spotting her, even if they were to enter the room.

The waterfall would be churning the surface of the water a little and the small amount of noise it offers would combine to give her cover while the elven ladies consider the next move.
>>
No. 1086233 ID: f27581

Check if the cake trolley would make sound with weight on it. If is silent enought then we can carry her, even so I suspect a future situation where the siren will be left behind on screams while the survivors escape with tears on her eyes.

Maybe we can use the plug to make sound and leave a distraction behind if we have to leave hastly.

The drain cover is replaced, and could be blocked to over flow the kitchen, but the elves would need to leave quickly to avoid getting wet feet.
Hiding and waiting for an opportunity worked for the survivors, perhaps it could work for the siren?

The trolleys are well maintained their wheels never squeak Iolantha sure of it.
She's used one before, very fine elven craftmanship the leather lined wheels seem to dull sounds and the frame might be able support a heavy siren, the maid is not sure she's strong enough to move them but is willing to try

The nearest source of flowing water will be the stream in the cave of memory, the water connects to the river and eventually out to sea.

The maid asks the siren how she got here the siren explains that she slowly slid her moist body across the dining room floor.

Damn.
No custom conveyance.

Cart then unless she wants to try hiding at the bottom and hoping they miss her.

Perhaps the cart could be moved by two elves while the most stealthy could lead the way.

Of the three id expect maid dalvari to be the stronger, most used to physical labour though perhaps florist syndra may match her.
The most quiet step id say belongs to maid dalvari.
Serving staff are adept at moving without notice among lords and ladies so as not to disturb them
While her stealth may not be a match for a scout or thief, she is certainly the most able of the trio.

So!
Florist and poet aid the siren. Two moving the cart will give them a little more speed.

Maid scouts ahead and checks each corridor, guiding their motion by hand signal or falling back if its a more detailed instruction or plan to share.

The escape this offers the siren may also offer the elves escape too.

If the siren can help them once shes in her element, then she could swim them through any submerged sections quicker than they could get through themselves.
Presuming the stream is fully submerged at points.

The siren doesn't seem to want to be left behind. the cake trolley will have to do

it doesn't seem possible that the Harroctar could attack a city as large as Orisyelle Lord Xielphiane magic should have kept it hidden, and driven them away even if found.

why didn't the magic protect them?

in any case emergency rescue should be at the meeting fountain at the hidden spring outside of town.

Miss Dalvari scouts ahead leaving her friends to help the siren and the archer.

Grabbing the book is a fine idea.
It can double as an emergency sheild or thrown object, but hopefully it will not be needed for its improvised or intended purpose.

Agreed.
It is time to bring your friends forward.
However, your job does not end at the wave.

Quietly clear their path of any potential noise making collision obstacles like scattered furniture or dropped gear and other partyware discarded in panic.
Just place it safely at the hall side.
Also, spare a glance towards them as they move towards you.
Watch behind them specifically for beasts entering the corridor on random patrol.
Spotting them first could buy the precious seconds needed to take cover.

One thing though, if everything goes wrong the siren has to just focus on escape through the waterway, to carry word of the traitor to others lest they too fall prey to this betrayal.

So the fish are attracted to blood? Then if you took a used bandage it could be used as a fish lure.

If most of the party slips away in the water, then Turit and perhaps an assistant could sneak along the bank up to the bend with two pillars across from the conspirators. From there, they could dip a bloody bandage into the water until fish come for it, then let it drift away. The conspirators will see the fish following the blood, which will let them know that someone is upstream. This will prompt them to either leave or investigate where the blood came from, which is when Turit can sneak past after they pass his hiding spot.

He is a seasoned warrior (Or at lest looks like one) and should be able to survive by himself. If he is sure he can make it, is not a bad idea.

The priority is to escape to other cities and spread the word about the traitor and the Harroctar invasion. Getting divided could even be a good thing should one of the two sides fail in their route to freedom.

An alternate solution would be to send the siren by herself if she can escape on her own and the elves can try another route. If I'm not mistaken this body of water connects with the exterior so escaping should be easy for her. The measures are taken against elves not sirens.

Agree with all of this.

Also it would be useful to watch Damien to get an idea of what city he might try to infiltrate next. If Turit is in good enough condition to spy on and/or track him, this could be an invaluable opportunity.

"We must trust in Turit" Eranil whispers "we could do little for him anyways if we were spotted together"

"Right" Turit agrees "either way someone needs to find out what city they're targeting next and get word to them in time."

Iolantha looks to Porala "Porala How will you get us all to safety, can you get us close enough to hear their plan?"

The siren nods "I think so, Elves very light, I could pull all three but would be slower, would work better with rope"

Ushamerea seems unimpressed "We don't have rope..."

Eranil thinks "Maybe there's something else we can use

We don’t have ropes, but we do have Eranil’s garter belt and straps. Does anyone else have those, too? One is flimsy, but multiple sets around Dalvari’s waist could work well as a makeshift tow belt. And of course we have several robes.

Failing that, why not use Delvari’a wrap as a grab hold?

Im sure there were some good knots and strong ties in that book by togel loveseat, but we dont have that right now. What about belts or bowstring? Not a good thing to a do to a warriors weapon, but an empty quiver makes the best bow as useful as firewood...
The belts and bowstring would have to be combined with other materials to make a good enough substitute.

three or four dresses should make for a serviceable rope

Do you actually need a rope? Or could you just have her wear Turit's cloak and the others hold on to that?

If that won't work, check your environment. For all we know there are tapestries, burial shrouds, decorative chains, tree roots, excessively thick spiderwebs, or other materials laying around that could be pressed into service.

Turit unstrings his bow and offers it "Please take my bow, without any more arrows it will do me little good"

"Thank you" Eranil responds with a bow
"When will we see you again?" Ushamerea chimes in

Turit thinks for a moment "Meet me at Swift-feather Leyline circle just past the vision stones, but wait for me not more than a day."

After bidding farewell to Turit, Poralla pulls the elves along, they stop for a moment to see if they can over hear the traitor's next target.

Damien is in the midst of speaking "...well if you're really that confident than Aurallar it is, I'll pack my bags"

The mage follows up with "Make haste, Aurallar will soon divine our plan and tell others, you have one moon half-breed"

The mountain village of Aurallar, Eranil knows it well.

So far, so good. At least one of you should go somewhere else, in case Aurallar gets attacked sooner than he said; but that's a problem for later. For now you just need to get out of this cave. We probably don't want to stay close to them any longer than we have to, especially once they're done talking, so time to drift on by.

The more of them there are, the more likely one is going to notice you if you stay here too long; if not the prismaticans, then the harroctar they probably have in those cages.

Besides, just seeing them here is useful intelligence; now you know that this is the route they took into your city.

Agreed on all points.
Too many risks.
.
As unseen as any serving staff can make themselves in their daily work, this would require a different kind of stealth
But quiet and listening... that is a skillset that can still be used.
Passive information gathering only.
Listen as you pass.

Besjdes.
Theye are not capturing victims.
The only thing that could ve in those cages is harrocar. If theres still one there...
Itd be over.

I just realized that Turit is going to have some trouble getting past them, unless there's another way out. Once we're safe we might need to think about whether there's anything we can do to help him.

The channel continues, and begins to increase in current.

the channel branches,
A) Left path, there is a patrolling prismatican raider, and the water and the bridge is blocked bellow in the water.
B) Right path goes over a short cliff, the waterfall could injure elves, but it leads into the wilderness.
C) to the right there are stairs leading up further into the cliffs

Well, right is the route given the blocked bridge. I dont think trying to tackle the guard and drown them is worth the risk.

If we head right in the water and see how far of a drop it is, we could devide if it was worth the risk and if not choose the stairs, should the ladies know if it heads to a safer exit.

Im presuming the siren will be able to make the waterfall jump safely and make a bid for freedom.
>>
No. 1116632 ID: d30887

I have an idea:
We try to kill the raider by throwing him into the waterfall. If he survives, the siren can take him to safety - as her prisoner. If he doesn't survive then we don't take the waterfall route.
>>
No. 1116636 ID: b5eecd

We are not trained for combat and if we alert the raider he's going to alert the camp we just passed; and then we get more harroctar. We need to keep to stealth.

It seems like Poralla is going to be in the worst position here, and is going to probably have no choice but to go over the waterfall; it's not like the elves can carry her, and I can't imagine she can get through that blockage any better than they can.

As for the others, I feel like the stairs are probably the best option. These caves are crawling with prismaticans and we have almost nothing to work with down here. Even if we could get past the one on the left we wouldn't have Poralla to take us through the water anymore, and if anyone broke a leg jumping over the waterfall it would be a death sentence in our current situation.

We do have to consider the geography of Orisyelle. Is the cliff path likely to be a dead end? Is it going to take us back to an area full of harroctar? Why are the prismaticans guarding the other path but not that one? If going up there would be as dangerous as going back to the manor, we should take our chances with the waterfall.
>>
No. 1116657 ID: fd169b

Elves should take the stairs, Poralla takes the falls and gets out to spread the word.
>>
No. 1116957 ID: 51ec8c

Unless any of the elfs doesn't count with being able to survive the waterfall, right is the safest choice. They are not going to drown thanks to the siren and the water will muffle most of the noise.

It could be troublesome if there were more enemies outside, but if this attack was made with stealth, then it would be strange they extended the camp outside of the cave where they are conceled.

The bigest dangers would be getting an ankle sprain and latter being tailed by Harroctar in the wilderness. Or making enough sound, so the guard alert his friends. In the other paths the biggest danger is that path not leading to an exit and end trapped.

"The waterfall is our only chance to escape, the other paths just loop into the city!" Iolantha whispers

Porala nods "everyone brace for a drop!"

Eranil tries to instill hope "Hold strong sisters and we'll make it through this!
Ushamerea whimpers as she holds on tight

the four go over the waterfall and land with a splash

Porala: perfect action!
