The crowd watches in anticipation. Is Redcap made of stern stuff? Will she survive the Survivor’s Splash? Ever since Marv was beaten senseless
I must remember Step Five of Lucha: trust my friends, and they will trust me. Besides, I trust that Redcap has followed Step Two of Lucha: Be Healthy!
Creo que sí…
¡Zas!
Redcap takes the hit- and she moans groggily. It’s over. Jimmy Cones turns his head downward in respect for Redcap’s bravery. He climbs out of the ring to summon help. Perhaps she does have what it takes to take on Ohio- but only after she recovers.
But the crowd isn’t cheering. They liked the show, the high-flying splash, but was the outcome really ever in doubt? Is this really what they came to see? A trained Luchadora annihilating a newbie? Yes, there is spectacle, but no stakes.
“Redcap will return, yessirstrongerandready, onceshehasbeentreatedby the AY-ppropriate medical AU-thorities,” says Dusty Toad, the announcer for the night.
“That’s right!” says Trisha, pulling translation duty for Dusty. “Remember, Nacha took a tumble versus Tsuki and broke her leg, and Marv was brutally beaten when he had his retirement-inducing match against Genbu, both of the WAN, those nasty Nippon ninjas! We’ve had medical assistance on standby ever since, just in case! Wrestling is a dangerous sport, and we have to be ready for the worst!”
“Here, let me help you!” a nurse says, clambering into the ring to check on Redcap. “Are you injured? Oooh, there’s blood, definitely blood. Come with me, I’ll take good care of you.”
Aguanta…
The crowd is yelling- not in anticipation or glory, but a warning! To me!
Something is not right about this giraffe!
