Excellent.

We should save that phrase, just incase of diminished results through multiple uses.
Do we have any tools at hand that could fit the job?
I know we had a hammer or pick or something at one point

Worst comes to the worst, we now have a targettable vulnerable point to hit and not harm blue

>where is the key?
Don't bother. "Using a screwdriver or a coin should be a sufficient substitute if the keytool is missing." suggests you gotta rotate a thin slot. I've used knives in cases like this, I'm thinking the tip of your shovel-pick should be good enough, if a little awkward.
>Tetsi attempts to shape its eye into the shape of the letters, but isn’t able to.

so the way you write "Silv" is: copy the first and 6th letter of the 13th word, the last letter of the 7th word, and the 5th letter of the 37th word.

I mean - I feel like once the security addon is ejected, we have some breathing room. It should hopefully not e.g. maintain a wireless connection while ejected...right?

do you have a coin on you? I mean if there is a key it would probably be next to this book but if it isn't we either need to find a cash register or a maintenance closet to grab a coin or screwdriver... unless you see on laying in this room.

It says a screwdriver or coin would work, so we need something with a flat protrusion. Something we can insert into a slot and turn.

We'll have a minute of safety, and potentially more if we repeat the phrase after it wears off, so if we have nothing on hand that would work then we could go looking in the storeroom or closet.

We'll have to move fast, we only have a minute and don't know where on his body the add-on is.
If we could find a blade, that would be useful both as a makeshift key and to tear through his cloak to find the add-on.

We should be prepared for the phrase to only work once, I think. Red has shown the ability to override its programming with enough justification.

>>1099145
Good idea with the shovel-pick.

Use what little time you have left to look for a diagram of where the module is on the bot's body. When Red comes in, use the security lock phrase and uninstall this program.

If the key, coin, or flathead screwdriver is here I'm willing to bet it's in that filling cabinet. I don't think we have enough time to dig through more than one drawer though...

Let's try the bottom drawer.
The top drawer would be good for documents commonly accessed and the middle for things the worker there uses everyday that they could grab when sitting. The bottom though is inconvenient... Perfect for tools and things they rarely use...

Whether or not you find the key or something suitably flat in that drawer, turn around immediately after...

He comes...

>We'll have to move fast, we only have a minute and don't know where on his body the add-on is.
>Book should have some installing addon diagrams to narrow that down
According to the manual, the Addon is located on the front of W3AV3Rs chest, just under its head.

>We should save that phrase, just incase of diminished results through multiple uses. Do we have any tools at hand that could fit the job? I know we had a hammer or pick or something at one point.

>We should be prepared for the phrase to only work once, I think. Red has shown the ability to override its programming with enough justification. Good idea with the shovel-pick.
Preparing for the impending confrontation, Silv puts Tetsi next to the desk, and pulls the shovel-pick from her bag. According to Testsi, this should be a good enough substitute for the key needed. You hope anyway.
Attempting to distract W3AV3R, then attempting the phrase before it attacks might be the best idea, if multiple uses don’t work.

>If the key, coin, or flathead screwdriver is here I'm willing to bet it's in that filing cabinet. Silv quickly rummages through the bottom drawer, searching for the key and making a fair amount of noise. Unfortunately, the key is not in this drawer, only old invoices.

The metallic footsteps fall heavily behind the office door.

The door slowly opens, and W3AV3R enters the room, standing upright with its giant needles.
”[THAT TRICK-K WON’T WORK A-AGAIN.]” , it says slowly approaching Silv.

”Distraction… distraction… What's a good distraction??”
She then thinks of one.

“Fern, now!” , Silv shouts at W3AV3R, causing it to stop and look around. That's the only moment she needs.

”Weave me alone!”
W3AV3Rs head quickly swivels back towards Silv, taking a few menacing steps forward before its hinges squeak to a standstill. Silv quickly approaches the frozen W3AV3R with the shovel-pick, and searches for the Security Addon. She finds an indentation within the chest, and begins turning it with the shovel pick.

Suddenly, Silv is lifted into the air, and the shovel-pick clatters to the floor.

W3AV3Rs body locks up again. She struggles, but Silv can’t escape from its frozen grip.

”[AS LONG AS I HOLD YOU, YOU CAN DO NOTHING. YOU HAVE PROVEN YOURSELF A GRAVE THREAT.]”

It unfreezes again, reeling its needle back, and Silv stops it once again.

You can’t do anything by yourself.

Don't destroy the core immediately. If the bot is completely still, we may have pulled out the service core with the security core, and we'd need to keep it stored and safe until we can figure out how to help Blue without letting Red back in.

On the one hand, we don't actually know how these work; for all we know it could have a mechanism to reattach itself, we didn't really read the whole manual after all. But on the other, and more importantly: If she keeps getting into fights, Silv needs to get into the habit of not assuming she won before being absolutely sure.

Pocket core. Might be repairable with magic in the future.

Pocket manual as well. Dead or alive W3AV3R is ours now. It'll either help us carry more cloth, or be rolled up in a bunch of the stuff to be carried back itself.
>>
No. 1099405 ID: eb0a9c

Okay, based on my previous experiences with memory cores, you need to poke it a few times until the preferred personality symbol is displayed fully. Find the key, turn and fiddle until all three colors are blue.

Fern is the best.

Restrain W3av3r's body so you can take all the time you need to find the right paperwork to fix the core and/or take ownership of a fabric factory.

yes, pocket the manual, not just because it's W3AV3R's manual but also because it's a book that possibly has all letters from the alphabet and we can do something like >>1099145 to just get Silv to copy them all into a piece of paper and tech her to read and write from that

W3AV3R doesn't get choices, his will is compromised. Sapient or not, so long as he remains here he will remain bound to his directives regardless of what his own will would be. We *might* be able to change his directives with the aid of the manual, but we'll likely have to figure out a way to impersonate some long dead person with authority. We can probably reset him, but that might erase whatever ego has developed since the collapse, making him a true automaton.

We should just take what we need and W3AV3R with us, regardless of any protest. Once we're back home and this place becomes forever lost to the void, W3AV3R's old directives will become irrelevant. Only then will we be able to allow him to make his own decisions.

“I still feel bad for having to hurt W3AV3R… I want to be able to help him if I can.”

“Chirp?”

“Tetsi says this book might be able to help.”
Silv picks up the device from the ground, where it’s releasing steam, and dripping some glowing liquid. She has no idea what to make of it, and puts it on the desk next to the manual.

“W3AV3R…! Are… you ok?”

”[Thank you for dealing with the Security mode issue. You no longer have to worry about it causing problems, as I can make decisions under my own autonomy without its influence.]” ,W3AV3R says, gesturing towards the cracked core on the desk.

”[As compensation, I would like to offer you some free products and services. If you have any questions, please do ask them.]”

“Can we take the core?”

”[Of course. I have no need for it.]”

“Do you want to come and join us W3AV3R? We have a pretty nice place to live”

W3AV3R ponders this for a moment.

“We… probably won’t see eachother again after we leave.”

”[I’ve seen many come and go in my time of operation. I am used to loneliness, however you are not alone, and you are much stronger than you might realize.]” gesturing towards Fern.

What about one of the little fabric automata? Can W3AV3R communicate with them from afar to stay in touch, or do they have a limited operational range?

As our Identify and Dowsing gets stronger we'll be more able to find and keep in touch with those we've met before, anyways.

Are there any interesting Runes around here? There were voidlings at some point that Weaves made fabric out of, so some of them might have left Runes behind.

Absent any literal ways to connect our islands, can we build up any way to send messages between each other? Even a one way messenger would help. As the ones that took out their security, literally, we may have an obligation to defend them if he needs it.
