DONNA: GOOD MORNING, CREWMAN < ZEKE DONALDSON >
YOU HAVE BEEN AWOKEN FROM CRYO-SLEEP AFTER 182 YEARS. THATS QUITE A CATNAP, YOU HAD!
PLEASE ALLOW ME TO BE THE FIRST TO CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR PROMOTION. STANDING EXECUTIVE MANDATE 2.B.44<EM-PR>2037(19(07)) STATES THAT IN THE EVENT OF THE FAILURE TO REPORT TO DUTY OF THE PREVIOUS HEAD OF COMMAND (ACTING CAPTAIN DAVID DREENAN) FOR 250 CONSECUTIVE DAYS, THE NEXT IN LINE FOR COMMAND SHALL BE MADE ACTING CAPTAIN UNTIL AN OFFICIAL INQUIRY INTO THE PREVIOUS HEAD OF COMMANDS CONDUCT CAN BE PERFORMED.

FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR COMMAND, I WILL BE YOUR DIRECT, ONBOARD NAVIGATION AND NETWORKING ASSISTANT. BUT YOU CAN CALL ME DONNA!

THE PREVIOUS CAPTAIN REALLY LEFT YOU WITH A MESS ON YOUR HANDS, DIDN'T? I AM PRINTING OUT A GENERAL STATUS REPORT NOW...

Oh. This is... very bad.
Ask DONNA for a structural damage report, and if there are any other active crew members. Also we're gonna need a map.

Get out of the crypod and check for supplies and equipment in the immediate area.
While doing that, read the latest incident log to see what the last disaster was and should in theory be the most urgent one, then start reading them in order from first to last.

Okay, so obviously you'll be reading the incident logs, but there's another important step here, no matter what the incident logs say: A catalogue of your resources available, and the most important of those resources is personnel. You apparently have four crew members in cryo across three cores. Are any other crew members active? What skills are available?
>>
No. 983043 ID: 19b6af

Alright, gotta check the most basic vital stuff first. Check if any other crew are active. If so, bring up their personnel files. Then pull up life support systems status and estimate how long they'll last at current load, check water and food inventory levels and estimate how long they'll last, followed by battery and fuel draw rates, estimating how long until either is depleted.

Read the incident logs in chronological order and check what the current date and time is. Then bring up the personnel files for yourself and the four occupants of the cryo-cores. We'll need to generally know what skills and capabilities y'all have so we'll know if we need to bring any others out of cryo to fix a problem.

Check what possible power generation options are available, since we're eventually gonna need more juice once we start bringing up more of the ships systems. Also check the cargo manifests for power generators or materials for power generators, as well as what other parts, tools and supplies are available.

What is that diagram on the right of the screen showing? The solar system the ship is currently in or the system we're supposed to be heading to? Because if it's the system we're in, then see if we can pull up some sensor records of what's in the system, where we are in the system and the path we were and are taking through the system. I'd rather not find out too late that we're on a trajectory that'll crash into a planet or swing too close to the sun.

>>983016
>... Donna: Cease all higher thought functions until further notice.
Yeah, how about we don't lobotomize our AI helper right when we need their help the most.

>Initiate cryo-stasis revival procedures on Cryo-Cores A, B, and C.
Hold it! We're not bringing any more folk out of cryo until, at the very least, we know what the capacity of the life support systems are, what the water and food supply level is, and the amount and quality of living quarters available. Then we'll have some idea how many more, if any, we can bring out.
>>
No. 983047 ID: 5f58de

First things first, make sure life support is working, you don't want to suffocate in your cryo-pod.

Check today's date, then review the incident logs.

can you run a more specific diagnostic on the hyperdrive? I imagine that's not the sort of thing that just... goes missing all on its own.

Zeke: DONNA, What do you mean I'm acting captain? I'm only a junior maintenance technician! Where is everyone else?

DONNA: ACTING CAPTAIN DAVID DREENAN WAS DECLARED MISSING ON 2223-07-08. THE APPROPRIATE MEASURES WERE TAKEN TO INSTATE THE NEXT IN COMMAND. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE COMMISSION, JUNIOR.

Zeke:What do you mean missing? How can you go missing on a Starship?

DONNA: UNKNOWN

Zeke: Where are we?

DONNA: UNKNOWN

Zeke: well, where is everyone else?, surely I can't really be the next in line for command, that would mean the primary crew is entirely dead or missing!

DONNA: ALL ACCOUNTS SEEM TO AFFIRM THIS, CAPTAIN.

Zeke: oh my god... DONNA, open the Cryopod.

I CANNOT DO THAT, CAPTAIN

Zeke: What, why not? DONNA open the damn pod.

DONNA: I DO NOT HAVE DIRECT CONTROL OF THE SHIP NOR ITS FUNCTIONS, CAPTAIN, I AM MERELY HERE TO ASSIST. I ALSO DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU LEAVE THE POD IN YOUR CURRENT PHYSICAL CONDITION, CAPTAIN.

Zeke: My physical condition? What do you mean? ... Oh my god, I can't move! DONNA, why can't I move?? Release the restraints, please!.

DONNA: NO RESTRAINTS, CAPTAIN. AS STATED UNDER EXECUTIVE MANDATE 2.B.44<EM-PR>2037(19(07)), FOR THE SAFETY OF THE COMMANDING OFFICER AND TO HELP ENSURE A NUERAL-LINK WITH THE DIRECT, ONBOARD NAVIGATION AND NETWORKING ASSISTANT, SAID COMMANDING OFFICER'S THIRD CERVICAL VERTEBRAE IS TO BE REMOVED FOR THE DURATION OF THEIR COMMISSION.

Zeke: Oh my god... Oh my god I'm going to be sick. This can't be happening... Jesus fuck DONNA, open the pod!

DONNA: TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE COMMANDING OFFICER, TEMPORARY FULL-BODY PARALYSIS IS INDUCED. IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK, YOU NEED NOT WORRY. YOUR POD, WHICH HAS BEEN CONVERTED INTO A COMMAND MODULE, WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL YOUR DIETARY AND BODILY NEEDS. AS FOR YOUR COMMAND DUTIES, EVERYTHING CAN BE DONE THROUGH THE POD SCREEN IN FRONT OF YOU. YOU CAN USE THE COMMAND LINE BY UTILIZING THE COMPUTERS EYE-TYPING FEATURE. YOU CAN TRY IT OUT NOW, CAPTAIN, IF YOU WISH.

Normally, this would be... unacceptably invasive, but strategically fine. However with a count of only five crew members, reducing one of them to directive-only is unnecessarily hampering our ability to perform repairs and maintenance. Let's hope the other crew members have sufficient skills for this. Which is a moot point if life support isn't working. DONNA, what's up with life support?

Well, that's to be bloody expected, what with all the damage to the ship you can assume from the status report. But better check if it's hard vacuum or if there's still pressure and it's just the atmo mix being fucked up and lacking oxygen.

...Wait a bloody second. Since David Dreenan got the same procedure as you when he was made acting captain, how the fuck could he go missing? He couldn't bloody move his body! He didn't die, 'cause DONNA woulda said he was "deceased," not "missing." He (or his corpse) oughta still be in his pod. So, did his pod somehow get separated from the ship and float off into space? ...Or did he do something that hid him from DONNA for some reason? Hm... Better check what he was doing right before he went missing.

[TRANSCRIPT [TEE'EL, OMMES <C_ID:FIRST_OFFICER>]]:

Incident Log 2103-07-22.

Deck 32 Block C blinked out of contact today.
I don't know how the attackers managed to compromise communications equipment, but the ship has gone dark.
I received an order signed by the captain to bring my group to the forward decks in a few hours. it contained no explanation.
We should be looking for survivors. That's what I would have ordered. Perhaps it isn't pragmatic, but leaving now would be too much blood on my hands.
Of course, I couldn't ask my men to stay here, the outer hull vents are opened and there's no telling what's waiting for us on the other side.
As much as it pains me, returning to the fore may be for the best. But the captain has some explaining to do.
Currently I can only access a fraction of the ships systems.DONNA seems to be keeping something from me.
Returning from maintenance, I noticed that emergency escape bays (B23 & B24) were locked empty, but they have been disabled for three years per Captain Tillani's orders.
I will ask DONNA about this as soon as I can. Theoretically, nobody could have re-enabled them without going through me or the captain.
The attack couldn't have come at a more inopportune time.
While we're in this bay, we should still have access to the hyper-drive, but the last sensor readings indicated an inversion current approaching off the horizon,
and we might be dragged in and lose the drive forever.
Our efforts are not helped by this situation, to put it mildly. These traitors had better be happy with all the suffering they've caused.

I just hope the hyper-drive isn't hyper damaged.

<<Readme -- Manual -- Net.port Command Module -- Refurbished Surplus Model J12>>
Hello and welcome to your new Net.port command module for use on long range civilian grade star-faring vessels and hyperspace combat escorts.
We here at Net.Solutions are excited to introduce you to the wonderful world of mental system command; be prepared for a world of expediency and precision!

Your refurbished module comes with all the necessary technology to keep you alive, comfortable and healthy in all manner of situations. Equipped with intravenous feeding tubes and hydration lines filled with a 15 year supply of Nutripaste Healthmix Q. Ultra-efficient urinary refreshing technology insures you'll never be thirsty. Multiple oxygen hookups and pathogen filtering also guarantees that even if placed in a hostile or un-oxygenated environment the command pod will never lack a breathable pressurized atmosphere[1]!

Additionally for long haul vessels with multiple crew-shifts the Net.port Command Module comes with an efficient integrated cryogenic system capable of cycling crews into and out of shifts in as few as 12 minutes. [Note cycling cryo-status more than once per week has negative effects on the human physique, please refer to the attached health waiver].

In terms of command functionality the pod offers unparalleled direct[2] systems access[3] with administration+ software access and emergency system unlock capabilities. To protect from accidental damage the module is equipped with EMP resistant hardened systems and military grade[4] armor plating which should protect from even the harshest of unexpected micrometeorite impacts.

Your command pod is also mobile[5] using our Rail-Smart Mobility-Plus movement system allowing to be transported anywhere[6] on your vessel.

[1]Assuming emergency oxygen supplies are not empty and the pod's plating has not been breached.
[2]A wired connection is required, the Net.port J12 is not equipped with wireless command interfaces
[3]The module is equipped and expected to access any system it is directly connected to with max level access, regardless of user. Do not allow unauthorized personal access to your Net.port J12 Command Module
[4]Armor plating is made of recycled fighter craft armor plates, and rated for defense against small arms and low caliber strike weapons.
[5]Provided you have also purchased an automated rail-bound Net.port towing unit.
[6]Anywhere which has had Net.port towing unit compatible movement rails installed.

Zeke: DONNA, does the command module have any cameras?

DONNA: It appears that it does not, at least not internally. However the documentation states that you may be able to connect the module to the ships security systems, and view and active camera feeds from here. Oh!, but you could try accessing the local systems? The ship is designed to be modular, captain, so even if a ship-wide system might be down, the local system could still be functioning.

Zeke: Well, I'm not looking for the ship-wide security, I just want to see whats in the room.
And its not like I could connect it myself, even if i could move, it looks like there's very little oxygen outside.

That audio log... it sounded like a giant cyber-heart. What the hell happened here?

>What do
We need to pull up instruction manuals and repair drones. Start repairing essential modules that are bleeding out the most, work your way up the chain until you can wake someone up.

You also need to make sure the former Captain - or whatever they have become - cannot gain direct control of the ship through authorization. Your goal is to find someone competent that you can trust and run their leadership with you as a direct intermediary.

Let's start with Power distribution. Check on where power is flowing and cut off anything that is leaking free energy into broken non-essential modules. Looks like anyone awake is either in on the conspiracy or gone to ground, so worry about sending a beacon alert later. Fix the reactor, and focus on finding repair drones.

I wouldn’t wake anyone up yet without being sure of the integrity of the atmospheric system
besides, if we’re just a junior maintenance tech yet next-in-line as the acting skipper, it means that, despite our lack of experience, we’re the most competent engineering staff that’s not dead or missing. Do we have any functional drones?

+1 on seeing what each of the subsystems we have access to commands are, and what we can do with them, before starting or waking anything up -- we need to get into on our situation, preferably survelience: we don't know if there's hostile around.

Then, let's check to see whose in cryo, and if we can start the reactor backup so we can get power and preferably atmosphere.
>>
No. 984042 ID: 598b92

I'm not sure why people are assuming we have repair drones? They were never mentioned as something we might have.

I think our best chance is getting someone out of cryo, and then guiding them through repairs with our technical expertise; but first we need to fix our atmosphere problem. I presume we need more power to life support to do that, and there must be some power since our pod is working.

Check power systems. We need crew, and for crew we need either oxygen or space suits. On the assumption that we cannot readily get space suits to crew without some crew to deliver those space suits, let's hope that getting oxygen will be as simple as redirecting power. If not, we'll need to think of something else. Check local security systems while we're at it, that could provide further information we could use to formulate a backup plan in the likely event that restoring oxygen isn't that simple.

Zeke: The reactor says it needs a manual override... maybe power has been routed to other systems which could explain why there is very little oxygen in this room.

Zeke: Its incredibly dark and a blurry DONNA. Any way to clean this up?
DONNA: I've reconstructed a 3d model of the room based on the view shown, and my own memory, captain.
Zeke: Is there a towing unit in here?
DONNA: There is not.
Zeke: Shit. Damn, to do anything around here, I'll need another pair of hands. Though if someone hadn't surgically paralyzed me, maybe I could do it myself.
DONNA: It is an automated system, captain, I was not responsible.
Zeke: Whatever.
DONNA: These Cryopods contain copies of the occupants personnel files, captain. If you're going to take someone out of deep freeze you should probably take a glance at it.

Attached Notes:
Latent esper, past activation age.

Addendum: Retested for esper by order of Captain Tillani, medical examination shows significant psychometric organ growth during periods where subject is in cryo suspension and when subject is past activation age. Recommend permanently sealing pod until landfall pending a more a thorough medical examination for this seeming impossibility.

Nathan will be our hands! We can do great things with him at our disposal. Unfreezing both of them might result in them defecting and escaping without us.

I doubt this two were related to the Captain Tillani's desertion.
It might be wise to wake both of them but keep Camille on hold, since she has medical experience.

What is "Unbind Resources"?
GENERATE ALARM MESH REPORT
DEFRAGMENT RECORDINGS
Should get us some info about recent happenings, if there are any.

Thaw Camille. The atmosphere here is so thin it'll probably trigger Nathan's phobia and render him useless. In addition, maybe she'll have useful psychic powers?

The plan is we get Camille to investigate the external system to see what it is and if we can do anything about the power drain and get life support back online. It might be something super important, or it might be some kind of alien parasite, or it might just be something someone left on that doesn't need to be running anymore. Once that's done we can see about thawing Nathan to get the command pod mobile since he's got net.port certs.

If thawing someone lets us reduce power consumption from cryo, then that power might wind up in life support, which means the atmosphere might recover without any intervention needed.

Basically +1 on all of this, but also what is the "D.O.N.N.A. Organism habitat"? I thought Donna was a computer?
