I've got a scam idea that may or may not be terrible. It's got moving parts that may have to be tweaked pending reactions, but it might get you a lot of the info you need, rather swiftly, and provide your mortal identity with a cover story to boot.
(You could also just, y'know, try to talk scoundrel shop and get recruited into his gang. You've got lots of abilities that'd make you be able to pretend to be an excellent cat burglar lookin' for local thugs to cooperate with.)
The scam:

A hell of a guy, looks like. He got a bloodline or somethin'?
Ask him that, add the emphasis. Play into your surprise - SOUND surprised. Clarify that you don't often see people of his heritage. When/if he asks you who dares / what you mean, this is the lie you sell:
Say, dead serious, that you used to apprentice a demon hunter, before you got the hell out of your life. You think he's got a speck of demon blood, which uh... hoo boy. While it's got some benefits, his blood makes him attractive to demons, who'd want to consume him for the fraction of the power left in the bloodline. Demon-mortal couplings ain't exactly normal, y'know?
And, sorry to say, you've sensed one prowling about town since you got here. While you could hole up, you've been thinking you'd better get a drop on it before it got the drop on you, but... now that you've seen him, he's probably why it's here. Offer your apologies, but if he doesn't have any non-charlatan anti-demon defense on him about, he's sausage on a stick to it. The only advice you can give is to make a 'demonic pact'. If he gets attacked, he should try offering it something worth more to it than the blood in his veins, whatever it wants. It'll be bound to accept, and it can't hurt him as long as he doesn't hurt it.
As for you... you'll keep hunting. Frankly, you don't want to, but as long as it's around it's gonna cause trouble and, uh, much as you'd want to drop this on the town, the circumstances of your leaving the 'prenticeship weren't exactly what you'd call great so you don't want to go to the authorities and offer proof. Recommend he stay out of sight so the demon can't easily find him.
Then follow him discreetly, in your demon shape, and arrange an ambush, preferably in a dark, quiet alley if he cuts through one. Drop on him from above, hang from his back and put some teeth on his throat to prevent yelling. Be all creepy and say his blood smells delicious and does he have any last words? Hopefully he'll try to 'pact' you, then you can act annoyed and start dickerin' over whatever you want out of him and pump him for information while he's pliant. You can leave him no worse for wear after that, and later on, after the pact 'worked', you could re-approach him as the ex-hunter apprentice and try to get a contact as he'd be grateful to you for offering a solution that 'saved' his life and may want to engage you to 'teach' him your 'anti-demon lore'. Wouldn't that be a laugh.
That said, pulling off a con like this isn't easy and if it fails you're stuck with an alerted, extra-suspicious Rhein (or, worse, a dead Rhein). Then again, you HAVE been killing and eating a lot of souls around these parts of late, so a demon rumour might be popping up any time now anyway.
