do you have camping gear? Or anything to start a fire? If you can stop the wind from battering you and get a small fire going you'll be fine if you want to rest... if not then you're defiantly going to want to push on since if you fall asleep out here their is not guarantee that you'll wake up again.

It was a terrible decision to climb this mountain. Regret it intensely.

Now that you are done regretting it, find some place out of the wind and see about digging a snowcave. If you have any wood or something, try setting a fire to keep you from freezing to death.

Do not attempt to climb a mountain in the dark at night during a blizzard. You will die, and it will be your fault. The monster will stumble on your remains in the morning, confused as to who could possibly be stupid enough to climb a mountain in the dark at night without any equipment or any way to survive.

Naptime! Clearly your destiny in life is to carry loot to far-off caves for a future champion to find.
>>
No. 841614 ID: d36af7

Haste makes waste. Eat some food (please tell me you didn't forget to bring anything to eat on your trek across the mountains), then tuck yourself in for a little nap: knees to chest, hands in armpits, blanket over your head so you're not wasting the heat in your breath, but not so tight that you suffocate. Take an hour or two to relax now that you're out of the wind, let your body heat accumulate in this shelter.

After that, mentally review your inventory and plan out the fire-starting process step by step before you actually start on it. Everything takes longer than it should when your brain and fingers are halfway frozen.

The only way you'll "go to sleep and never wake up" is if you work yourself to total exhaustion and collapse with your insulation all out of order. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
>>

Okay, so say there's a monster outside... Your options are to try and fight a huge monster, bare-handed with your frostbitten hands, or run away in a blizzard on a mountain top at night. It's certain death.

Whereas staying here by the fire is POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS.

Which do you prefer, an absolute certainty of dying, or not?

Stay by the fire. The monster can get its own damn fire if it wants one. If its big ass blocks the cave entrance, great! It'll keep the blizzard out.

There's always a chance the enemy is actually a friendly, or starving, or blind. But current context doesn't rule in favor of such a situation.

Running will trigger the yeti's instincts and leave you prone to exhaustion and a rapid drop in body temperature. Conserve your energy, focus on moving without tripping. You can run when you get to firm / warm ground.

Your fight or flight reflex definitely should be triggering about now, and as the other suggestions say, go with fight.

Shove fire in it's face, scream and roar like it just told you that it murdered your family. Make sure you keep your distance from it though, one swipe will probably bisect you, and death usually isn't very becoming for a protagonist this early on.

You know the legends. It's a bad idea to eat the food after invading a seemingly magical place.
Think this way: Someone may came to eat this food and get mad with you, or the food is there for you and it will remain there if you return latter. No need to eat now and risk making someone angry.
>>
No. 843137 ID: d36af7

Hospitality is tricky. You're a merchant, so you know how prices work, right? Don't buy that food (and consuming or otherwise damaging it counts as buying) before you find out what it costs.

Instead, shout stuff like "hello, excuse me, anyone home," and continue exploring the interior. If warm food has somehow been left in an abandoned temple and kept warm and fresh for days or months, or delivered by miracle in response to your mediocre prayer to not be smitten, it'll probably still be serviceable a few minutes from now after you've looked around.

A few nights, huh?

I sure hope those important goods you were taking to the next city didn't need to be there by a certain time!

Better make sure you finish all of your food, so that you're not rude!

.....actually, maybe you should save a little bit and offer it up to the fox deity? Hopefully Yumiko won't mind if you do.

.....so, do you place the offering in front of the statue or what?

Check your inventory and the stuff Yumiko left lying around. Can you reinforce the temple before the monster gets here? If it's old, it has weak spots.

Man, calm down. Even if this temple keeper IS a monster, all that means is evidence the monster is more than a horrible mindless beast. I understand being suspicious, but dang, how is anything here going to be worse than the freezing to death and/or being torn to shreds we were dealing with a little while ago?

>>

...you know this would really suck if all this is just a hallucination brought on by freezing to death.

But yeah, let's not think that way. Ask her who else lives here and what they're like. I mean it sounds like you might be stuck up here for a few days until the storm calms down so might as well know who your neighbors are. Also describe to the kid what Yumiko looks like... maaaaaybe the kid doesn't know her name because she's a priestess and just calls her priestess or some other nickname. yeah that sounds plausible, much better then being tricked and trapped here with a bunch of weirdos for reasons unknown.

If we are hallucinating in our dying moments there is nothing to be done about it. Let's just assume this is not the case and face those events like real, or at least a much less severe distortion of reality.

Maybe I assumed wrong, but it seamed to me that Ruby were from a setting were there were mostly normal humans with the occasional supernatural. The human part may have been a leap of logic but in case it wasn't, guess we just accept this fox girl as way better unnatural encounter than monsters or ghosts like we were expecting.
Since the way she is describing this place is completely different from the temple we entered ask her to clarify where we are and what she is.
