>By the way, what are all of these races and such?
We sothé have five castes, as far as I understand it.
At the top are the ukho, or advisors, who are in charge of everything because they're good at management and remembering things, or whatever. I've never seen one, but I've been told they look "fancy," whatever that means. Like I said, technically me and every other thoso here all belong to one.
Right below them are the kotho, or mages, who know how to make precursor artifacts work or otherwise do magic. I've never seen one of them, either, and I have no idea what they look like. Some of the other thoso think that when we have "inspections" every few months and some of us are taken away, it's because they think we might be able to become kotho. But that's definitely wishful thinking. I know for a fact if you get taken away and you're a thoso it's to be a concubine.
Just the thought makes me shudder.
Then there are the uthu, or soldiers, who keep the peace, or something, and fight for the ukho. They're huge. I've only seen one once, from a long distance, and I did not want to get any closer. Supposedly they're perfectly obedient to the ukho and only ever aggressive toward one another at most, but it's not the kind of thing I want to see for myself.
After that you have the myo, or laborers. There are a ton of these guys, and naturally, they do all the manual labor jobs, along with pretty much anything that you don't need an ukho or kotho to be clever for. We see these guys a lot; they bring us food, and occasionally they'll help us clear areas or build things if we don't seem to be able to do it ourselves. Eventually, anyway. They come in all shapes and sizes; a myo once told me they have some kind of internal hierarchy of their own but I don't know or care much about that.
And at the bottom there's us, the thoso. Or, ugh, breeders. We're pretty much only good at one thing, we're the smallest, there are way too many of us, and I'm almost surprised the ukho even remember we exist or need food half the time. But here we are.
Anyway.
