Skreegport. Not the largest port town, but it has nearly everything one could hope to find in one. Home to both honest sailors and shady smugglers, it's somewhere where you can find almost anything, for the right price.

It's Skreegport where you find yourself waking up, after apparently deciding that the docks were a great place to sleep for the night. You can't remember why you decided to sleep here, but you're strangely well rested for spending a night on the cold, hard ground.

What you do remember is you are a (hopefully soon to be) legendary pirate captain, and you have come to Skreegport for three reasons.

1. To restock on supplies.
2. To find information on a pirate's favourite thing - treasure!
3. Er..., what was number three again?

Anyways, anything's better than just lying here.

(Bear with me on the art, I have basically no experience.)

Nah, embrace your dragon pride. We're better than clothes, and pirates don't have to follow rules.

Do you already have a ship and crew waiting for you, or do we need to find one to go a pirating with?

Find or join a ship and crew. Having those is the difference between a pirate and a thug in a nice hat.

It's right on the tip of your tongue, but you just can't seem to focus! Whatever caused you to fall asleep on the docks must have addled your head a bit more than you'd realized. You're starting to get a bit worried about what else you might have forgotten.

>Fly around eating livestock and burninating thatched-roof cottages, FOR YOUR ANCESTORS.

As fun as that'd be, and as much as it'd satisfy your ancestors, it'd mean you'll have to take on the entire Skreegport militia and whatever ranged weapons they may have by yourself.
You might be a dragon, but you're not invincible.

>Number 3 was probably finding clothes, right?

Clothes? You've already got clothes. You have a hat!

Or rather, you don't actually own any other clothes. Being a winged quadruped, most clothes are more trouble than they're worth. But if you've got your sights set on some new duds, there's probably a tailor willing to take a special order.

>We have a nice hat, and that's whats important.

You've already got a ship. What kind of self-respecting pirate captain wouldn't have a ship?

You do need crew though. You paid your old crew when you reached port, and they've all gone home.

> We should start by shopping. How much money do you have?

You pull out the emergency coins you keep hidden behind your horns. It's not much, but it's enough to survive for a week or so.
Most of your money is kept safe in your cabin aboard your ship.

As that's where your money is, you decide to head towards where you left your ship. Hopefully you'll have "remembered" what your name and such are by the time you arrive.

Maybe we should raid the local tavern for some sailors or adventures to crew our ship.

Unless you want to just set up a recruiting station in front of the ship and see who shows up.

You are Eliana Barbamado, (soon to be) famous dragon pirate captain extraordinaire, the luckiest dragon to sail the 70 seas. (And also possibly the only one.)

You write your name on your stat sheet, to make sure you don't forget it again.

None of these seem particularly important at the moment. Your PIRATE stat is the highest, and that's what matters.

>Where do you plan to go? What can you expect to gain?

With that out of the way, you think about where you actually want to sail.
Skreegport is one of the northernmost points in a large archipelago.
Far to the north are the great empires of old, who have been bickering for the last hundred years or so over who actually owns these islands. Occasional boats full of new settlers arrive from the north, and the rare treasure ship is sent back.
While the north of the archipelago was settled long ago and has become prosperous, the islands to the south are still in the midst of colonization. The constant streams of trading and supply ships make easy prey for the pirates in the area.
As well, the occasional trading vessel arrives from the far west, from the foreign land of Azar. Not much is known about it, but the luxuries those merchants bring imply that it's a land of wealth and decadence.

>Maybe we should raid the local tavern for some sailors or adventures to crew our ship. Unless you want to just set up a recruiting station in front of the ship and see who shows up.

While you could stick a 'Now Hiring' sign to your ship, going through the taverns and asking around seems more effective. At least, that's what you did last time you needed crew.

Speaking of your ship, where did you leave that thing again?

... This amnesia thing is getting old, fast.

After some deliberation, you've managed to narrow your ship down to one of a few choices. One of these must be your ship.

The Dauntless is the largest boat here, a galleon. It carries the most cannons and can hold the most cargo, but requires the most crew to run. It's also the least manoeuvrable, and thus may have trouble catching other ships to board them.

On the other hand, the Tantivy is a much smaller sloop. While it has fewer cannons and holds less cargo than the Dauntless, it's much more manoeuvrable, making it far better for boarding other ships. It also requires fewer crew to run.

Finally, the Endurance is a brigantine, a mid-sized ship. Everything about it falls somewhere in between that of the other two.

The brigantine of course named Greed you are a pirate after all.
>>
No. 758980 ID: 34c437

You are a giant flying fire-breathing creature. If your ship isn't the largest this mistake must be correct very soon.

Political disputes and impotent colonies administrations form the ideal background for a pirate act with impunity, but passenger ships will offer small gain for the effort and alert others of your presence. Unless you can make use of a slave trade you should avoid routs that move more people than cargo.
Did you say Azar have decadence? We like decadence. Let's go there.

Now let's see what kind of greedy scum is wiling to risk their lives for stolen treasure. What races are common in Sreegport?
We mostly need experience sailors who can handle battle, but one or two magic users could be useful.

Obviously the HMS Boat is yours.

You didn't think you would sail your pirate ship straight into port, with no one attending it, did you? No, it's moored somewhere nearby. Hidden.

Hopefully you can still find it.

Oh, I remember now. You lost your old ship in a bad hand of poker. Man, your crew was so mad that they all had to pile into that rowboat. No wonder they left. Welp, let's get started planning how you're going to steal a new boat.

> HMS Boat
Looking at the lone rowboat, your memories finally snap back into place.
None of these boats are yours - Your ship, the Greed, was a massive frigate that would put any of these vessels to shame.
Last night a strange man, not of a race you recognized and definitely foreign from his accent, had challenged you for your ship in a game of cards, offering his own boat if he lost. While his clothes were old, he was clearly affluent enough to own a nice ship, so you took him up on his offer. You didn't see much risk in it; after all, who'd actually be willing to collect their earnings from an angry dragon?
However, he'd clearly managed to slip something in your drink. Before long, you'd felt your mind hazing over and your vision blurring, and the you'd woken up on the docks - neither stranger nor boat to be seen.
Apparently he thought leaving your lifeboat behind would be funny. Well, there's a number of things that you'd like to do to him if was still around. And you'd find all of them hilarious.

> The other boats all tie
You consider stealing one of the other boats as a replacement for your own. Unfortunately, you can't decide which one is the least pathetic. Maybe later.

> Crew
You turn your efforts to something hopefully more fruitful - finding a crew. There's a number of places you could find sailors looking for work; taverns, the docks, Skreegport likely has a sailor's guild, etc. However, usually you'll want to make sure your officers and and a significant number of the crew are pirates though and through. The rest can either learn to be pirates or walk the plank.

Thus, you start your search in one of the taverns where Skreegport's less savoury people congregate. A quick interrogation of the barkeep reveals that in this tavern there are three officers who are currently without a captain.

One is a female lizard. She sports a number of scars, and appears to have lived through at least a couple of fights. She takes the occasional break from drinking to scowl at the other patrons.

Another is also a lizard, but male this time. He wears a coat that is much fancier than the rest of him, and seems to be losing quite badly at cards.

The last is some sort of insectoid. They've been sitting by themselves the whole time, and appear to be mumbling to themselves. Odd purple runes glow glow from the hood they wear.

> Go to Azar
It's an idea, but you'll give yourself more time to think on it.

here's an idea on the ship, depending how big of a crew you get decides on what ship you grab. Few people you get the little boat, big crew you go for the big one and you get the idea. We can call it an intuition ritual. After all if they can't take a parked ship then how can they steal from a moving and fully crewed ship?

as for thoughts on our would be captains...
>Female lizard
seems a bit like a bitch and would probably be a bitch and a half to actually get her to be loyal to us. Probably only respects strength but being a dragon that isn't to much of an issue plus she looks like she can actually handle a fight pretty well so she'd be great for boarding or counter boarding actions.

>Male lizard
Looks to have a bit of a gambling problem but he does dress nice so he might have some money on him. Looks like the type that loves money but hates an honest days work so he'd probably be pretty easy to join as a loyal member of our crew as long as we keep the cash flowing in. But he also looks like the type of guy who causes problems as well. I can see him making bets he can't pay back and dragging us into his debt problems as well. And he kinda looks like the suave type so it might get annoying if he's hitting on you all the time or chasing skirts whenever we hit land.

> insectoid
seems like a wizard type. Good as in it's always nice to have magic on your side, bad because wizards have no since of right and wrong

but these are all just guesses. I say try talking to them or at least lessening in on what they're saying to get a better idea what to expect from them. After all we want someone competent and loyal.

The female lizard have the most luring aura. If you were to base your decision on looks she would be the one, but you aren't some teen trying to get close to cool bad guys.

You can't help to feel some empathy for the male lizard current problem. It may not tell much about him, but his misfortune in the game is a common ground you can use to approach him. Maybe he will be more sympathetic to your current predicament.

Wizards are useful but you need to know more before consider him. Those guys are crazy and you don't want to find yourself in a situation he can turn against your for whatever ritual he is obsess with.

Why don't you start talking with miss badass? Her attitude may help intimidate the crew.

You navigate your way through the crowded room, managing to knock over only one or two tables along the way.
