I am a cat.
In a very unusual turn of events, I seem to be able to think. I would hazard a guess that the magic circle and chanting people in robes have something to do with my current state of mind. Such are the powers of my new, brilliant mind. I seem to be in some sort of cage, unfortunately. What should I do?

Look around. Maybe there's weakness to the cage or something near the cage that can help you.

Can you talk? You could try to gain their confidence. Whatever they did to you had a purpose, and they will probable be interesting in you as a loyal servant. Escape opportunities may surge as they become more trusting.
But if you aren't willing to risk their trust it's better to pretend to be stupid. If they intended to make you intelligent the apparent fail will make your incarceration less important. The less they pay attention to you more time you will have to act unsupervised.

There are two possibilities, here. Either your intelligence was deliberately bestowed on you, so in some way alerting the human chanters to their success will trigger your release from the cage. Or your intelligence is an accidental byproduct of something else they're attempting, which may not necessarily be healthy for your long term survival.

Inspect cage. How is it latched? Is it the simple kind, meant only to contain animals who do not understand how to operate it? Or is it something more complex you lack the appendages to operate at all?

If you were injected with instant sentience, it may have come with preprogrammed knowledge. Look around you, inspect the ritual circle. See if anything rings a bell for the first time.

eh, sentience or no, people are boring and unimportant. Take a nap.

Okay this newfound intelligence should start ringing some alarm bells about interrupting some magic ritual, that always goes poorly, examine surroundings but wait for a more opportune moment to act

Stretch a paw out of the cage and with your claws, scratch a portion of the circle to Interrupt the ritual.

>Maybe there's weakness to the cage

I have deduced that the weakest part of the cage is under on of the bars. Unfortunately, even if it is weaker, I'm still a tiny cat, and the cage is still metal.

>Interrupt the ritual.

Perhaps I was unclear, they already finished it. That's why I can think.

>Can you talk? You could try to gain their confidence.

Look, your plan is great, I probably can talk, and that would really help, but...

>eh, sentience or no, people are boring and unimportant. Take a nap.

This person definitely has the right idea.

>"Really, we make her much smarter than she ever has been and she decides to take a nap?"

>"Dude, she is still a cat, you know."

These people are being far too loud for my tastes. I can't nap like this. Perhaps I should at least humour them and talk to them. But what about?

Talk to them about how great naps are. Maybe they'll shut up by giving it a try!

Before you talk to them roll onto your side exposing your belly while purring. I bet at least one of them will fall into that trap.

Starting out with hostility is likely to be counter-productive. The bipeds will be likely to be more useful to you if they do not perceive you as an enemy.

They clearly expect you to speak to them, so play into their expectations and gather some information about how to get out.
"You have imbued me with intelligence. Why? What are your plans that required an intelligent cat?"
