Finally!

Today all my hard work is going to pay off! No more checking inventory, no more adding up receipts, no more sweeping... The last six months have been pretty rough, but it'll all be worth it soon! Because...

... I was finally able to afford a bona fide unidentified enchanted item! Sure, it cost me nine-tenths of what I made, and I don't know what I'm gonna eat tomorrow... but I won't have to care about that once I show the university that I was able to figure out one of these on my own! Dreng will regret not taking me on as his apprentice! I just know it!

Actually it's not okay you can no longer fit in your house.

But it does give you something interesting you can bring to the university. That something being you.

Enchantment.

The way I see it, if you don't shrink back soon you have several basic options in how to proceed from here:
1. Try to find someone magical to turn you back. Might involve getting experimented on or going into debt.
2. Rampage, presumably to show them, show them all. Could be satisfying but probably ends with death by heroic knight or ragtag bunch of misfits.
3. Join the army or a mercenary group. Kind of like rampaging except some people are actually on your side instead of against you.
4. Get a new job that benefits from being huge, such as construction work. Might be hard to find without people running away screaming.

The university is hundreds of miles from here! And even if I could make it all the way over there without getting attacked or something, I... I don't know if they can really deal with something like this very well!

Plus, I-I never got accepted or anything! I just tried to get their attention when they sent scouts out to Hau To Tyo, but they told me I didn't have the credentials... and then Dreng wouldn't take me on either... I...

Luckily, that's currently a much shorter distance for you.

Just answer it, you doof. If you can't remember who you are, you're in worse shape than you thought.
>>

The pendant made you crazy. You're going to have to deal with that aspect of yourself now, and come to terms with the sort of things you subconsciously want to do. On that note, I recommend that you travel using the art of camouflage. Whenever somebody might see you, duck down and pretend you're a forest being rustled by the wind and wait until they look away. It's foolproof. Also, hundreds of miles is way way less when you're twenty times your normal height. You can probably walk tens of miles over the course of a day or two.

Lots of things all at the same time, fluffbutt. I assume anyway. But uh. It IS a relevant question. Who are you, then, since -we- don't know you?

Chaaaances are you should probably go speak to the closest friend you've got though. Get their help or advice, maybe.

Or, y'know, go back and talk to the person that gave/sold you that pendant and see what -they- have to say about it.

Stop squirming around and salvage what you can from the rubble. Next, you need to find enough food to sustain you at your new size. A farm would do, or maybe a you could 'borrow' what you need from town. You're big enough to take anything you need now.

It wouldn't be as great a distance for you to travel to the university with your massive stride, but can you perhaps think of someone closer who could help you? A magic shop owner, a wizard, a scout from the university or just another college altogether?

Do your people have a history of giant monster attacks? If not I don't see why their response to a giant would be attacking on sight. And even if they did, you should be able to just outrun them with your giant legs.

Okay that doesn't make any sense.

Neither does that!

>If you can't remember who you are, you're in worse shape than you thought.

My name is Bau Shua, I'm a ketza who lives by himself outside of a little village, and apparently I'm a crazy giant now.

You say that like it's easy! Most of this stuff is so smashed up I can't even tell what it's supposed to have been before, even though it's my stuff.

I'm not comfortable with this at all!!

>Do your people have a history of giant monster attacks? If not I don't see why their response to a giant would be attacking on sight.
Okay I guess at least around here their response will probably be more like "running away and hiding" but I don't see how that's any better!

I-I'm not an endurance walker or anything! Even if I can walk a lot farther, that's still a really long way! I mean, I don't even know exactly where the university is or anything.

Plus I'm pretty sure it's several countries over, and I don't think everyone between here and there is just gonna run away when they see me! Even if I'm big enough to literally wrestle a dragon, I mean... dragon-slayers do exist, after all.

I had to special-order the pendant from somewhere really far away, and the service I bought it from specifically sells unidentified magic items! I don't see what they're going to do to help me!

>Can you perhaps think of someone closer who could help you? A magic shop owner, a wizard, a scout from the university or just another college altogether?
The only person I can think of who fits that description is Dreng, and he, um... he doesn't really like me, because of... things. I doubt he'd know how to fix this, anyway!

Plus I can't really imagine it going well to even go up to his house. "Hi everybody, just a giant monster walking up to the house of the most respected guy in town, don't mind me, doo dee doo."

>Do you have any friends you could go to?
>Chaaaances are you should probably go speak to the closest friend you've got though. Get their help or advice, maybe.
Cho doesn't know anything about magic! If I go knock on her roof or whatever I'm just gonna scare the heck out of her, and what good is that going to do?

... I mean, if she got over the initial shock, she'd probably talk to me, but... is that really the best option I have... ?
>>
No. 680495 ID: 0ed6e9

>is that really the best option I have
unless you want to run towards the woods or something and hide and hope to god that whatever this is wears off then you prooooobably should seek help from at least SOMEONE. Even if all they can do is lend you a ear to talk to.

Hey if you can get her to help you, is there some sort of hotline or something that you could call to help you out? Anyways when you go up to her house maybe try the back door so you're not standing in the middle of the road and just GENTLY poke it with your finger. Just try to talk to her through the door and explain what happened before she opens it. That way she's less likely to run away from you. Just say you were trying to pry out a gem in a pendent but your hand slip and you ended up just cracking it open instead.

Then back up (not into the house) and settle down on the ground, belly first. Gently. The aim here is to try and not be threatening.

When you try to talk, whisper, softly. No need to deafen her with your loud booming giant-voice.

...I can't hear you. Could you speak up? (Or yell? Or just get closer?).

"Um..."

"Whatever. That's your problem. Anyway. Kotsiki, up in Yakipeto—"

"What?"

"Kotsiki is his name; he's a specialist in identification magic so he can probably at least tell you what you've done to yourself. Yakipeto is the name of the city. It's north of here, in Kesusu, where the tezakians live. You can take the main road from Hau To Tyo—you probably shouldn't actually go to Hau To Tyo, though—anyway, just follow the road north into Kesusu and it'll be the first big city you come across. How you get him to come out of the city isn't my problem, but if you tell him I sent you he probably still respects me enough that he'll help you."

"Um..."

"Your other option is more or less exactly in the opposite direction. I don't remember her name, or exactly what the village is named, or anything like that, unfortunately. She's a kobold who lives in the Krorıqar Woods, which you've probably never been to, but you can't miss them. Anyway, she's in the woods, somewhere. Only magic specialist the kobolds have. I've never actually met her, but I've been told that she's the best generalist on the continent."

"Okay..."

"So. Those are your options, that I know of. If they can't help you... I guess you'll have to figure out something on your own, because this is the best I can do. I'm going back into town before someone thinks to come figure out why I'm not in my shop and sees you."

He turns to leave again. Um. I guess I'm going traveling...?

Go 2 kobolds. Identification magic will tell you what's wrong but not be able to fix it, which means you'd have to travel some more afterwards. The generalist might be able to fix you right away. She should be able to at least tell what's wrong with you in general, or offer a temporary solution, right?

OOOOOR if you're up to a week of travel time you could go get identified first and then get fixed at the kobold. Unless Kotsiki can refer you to a specialist, but I suspect there would need to be more travel time anyway.

Kotsiki is more of a known entity. There's a good chance he will at least be able to tell what exactly happened to you. That would probably be the smart choice.

...but stumbling around the woods, looking for a tiny kobold you know very little about sounds like a much better adventure. You have to go for that.

Go see the kobolds. If you head into a forest, you're less likely to attract trouble from civilization.

See if Cho wants to come with you.

And thank Dreng for helping you. He actually came to help, despite whatever happened in the past, and you probably won't see him for a while.

You might actually ask him, before you leave, if he or anyone he knows in town happens to need anything done that you could help with. Moving something massive and heavy, digging something, or otherwise doing something that would normally take a while but that someone with house-sized hands could easily do.

What exactly happened to make him hate you and still not forgive you?

Magic seems like the sort of thing where actual USEFUL information should beat out having the right skills to do something but not being sure what the issue is.
Like, it might even be that Dreng could fix you, but without knowing WHAT the issue is, he'd be basically going in blind and hoping he doesn't accidentaly make you explode and cover the country in feathers. Let's go get identified first, if we can swing it.

Kotsiki, they can probably identify the magic and give us a referral to a specialist to cure it from there. The generalist may be able to do both but might not be good enough at either to do them making them a waste of time. Basically, Kotsiki is a longer route with greater likelihood of success guaranteed so go with that.

Uh.

Wow, I had no idea he could move that fast.

>What exactly happened to make him hate you and still not forgive you?
It's... complicated. He might feel like I'm responsible for his career as a magician stalling at village level.

>a lot of actually well-reasoned debate
... So it sounds like you guys think going to the kobold generalist is the better idea. Which I guess makes sense, since she might be able to just solve everything in one fell swoop. It can't be that hard to fix me, right...?

... Also not having to try to go to a city is probably a good thing.

>...there's no language barrier with kobolds, is there? They speak the same language you do?
Iiiiiiiii don't actually know very much about kobolds. It's not like I've been very far away from here before, you know.

Thinking about it, the kobold traders who occasionally stop by the village square seemed like they had a bit of an accent, but I don't know if that's because they speak a different dialect of the language I speak, or if they normally speak some other language and they learned this one so they could trade.

I guess we'll find out?

"Um, you should probably at least take some stuff with you for when we get to where other people are again, I think? Like, uh, some money or something?"

Do you like broccoli? You see those trees over there? Basically broccoli. More seriously, though, I don't think there's an ecosystem in the world built to support something like you, and you certainly can't afford to buy that much food, so I feel like you're going to need to just collect every single large animal you see on the way, and maybe make a few detours if you can't find enough normally. I hope the local wildlife isn't too cute, because you'll probably need to eat them like popcorn.

She might want fire starting supplies just for warm food, even if she can rely on your body heat for sleeping on. And she might want some kind of food, just in case you're an incompetent hunter.

>... Uh, actually, what am I gonna do for food while traveling...?
Starve, probably. I mean, your meals need to be scaled up as much as you have, right? That's a lot of food!

I suppose if you're herbivorous you could just defoliate the landscape as you passed, but securing large quantities of meat or other foods might be tricky.

>>738615
> "Nah I already thought about this! I don't really need something to sleep on, 'cause I can sleep on top of you or next to you or something,

If she wants to sleep on you during the day while you walk, and stay up while you sleep, that might be OK, if she can find a way to do so securely without any chance of falling off; however, if she sleeps on or near you while you sleep, one minor motion from you and she gets crushed or falls from a deadly height.

> and I don't really need to bring anything to protect myself with, because I'm traveling with you and seriously who is gonna fight you

This much is probably true, though size isn't always an advantage; you can pretty much stomp anything, but you can't be discriminate; if someone or something attacks her, we'd have a hard time hitting them and not her.

> and I don't really need anything to make a fire with, because it's not like a little fire I could make would do anything for you anyway,

It'll help keep her warm, though. (She won't be able to use you for that at night, because of the crushing/falling problem above. And it'd be a bad idea for you to stay awake and travel at night, because you won't be able to see well enough to avoid stumbling, or stepping on someone.) A fire will also let her cook her food, unless she likes eating raw meat.

> and I don't really need food, because I can just count on you to probably scare a deer to death or something... so really I should be fine!"

It might take us a few tries to figure out how to do this. She might want to bring at least a day's worth of food as a backup plan.

>>738615
> ... Uh, actually, what am I gonna do for food while traveling...?

Judging by Cho's comment, she eats meat; do you as well? If so, you'll probably end up eating wild game, whole, and often. (Another good reason to head into the forest: more likely to find food there.)

This is a good option. As for the sleeping thing, there are a few places she could sleep where accidental crushing is less of a problem. Certainly suggest to bring her own supplies, but there is no reason to not experiment if it makes things easier.

Also, Bau, seriously, you are big. No, you don't have to be monstrous and destructive, but you seem almost too careful. Enjoy yourself; keep it in your mind everything will work out in the end.

what do you normally eat? because you're green and seeing as you're heading towards an area with lots of green you could probably ambush something. If you know how to swim you could try your hand at fishing... maybe... now that I think about it normal fish probably would do jack shit to fill you up and anything that could fill your gut would probably be something out of nightmare. Well if all else fails you could raid a farm or something in the middle of the night for some of there crops.

So now you want to thing about your bodily functions...
For a short period of time you can just eat whatever cross your path to avoid starvation and keep moving to hopefully avoid environmental consequences. This does raise a good question: are multiple languages in widespread use in this region, and do you speak the most common one? Are you likely to be understood in most places, by most other beings?

(And do you speak any other languages?)
>>

I see two options.
1)You could use your INCREDIBLE GIANT STRENGTH to do things that would take entire teams of people long periods of time to do. I'm thinking construction, demolition, and earth-working. You can then use the pay that would otherwise be given to entire teams of people to buy massive amounts of food.

or... 2)
BEAR SMASHING.
Or any large animal for that matter. You are easily The Apex predator. Every terrifying horrible man-eating creature you've ever heard about is little more than food to you now. Just one good hit should take about anything out. Any thing too fast for you can easily be trapped under a mountain of thrown dirt or crushed under a thrown tree.

>I hope the local wildlife isn't too cute, because you'll probably need to eat them like popcorn

I, uh... I don't really wanna think about that...

I mean, I'm not really, like, a hunter or anything! I usually just buy—uh, bought—food from someone else!

>are multiple languages in widespread use in this region, and do you speak the most common one?
Pretty much every race has its own language. Conveniently, though, the language we ketzas around here speak is the local language of trade!

I'm not totally sure why. Maybe it's because of the nobles? I know the noble over in Hau To Tyo is a ketza, and the noble above him is a ketza, and I think whoever is above her is a ketza too? I'm not, like, super familiar with the nobility or anything, though.

>And do you speak any other languages?
I do not! Hopefully it won't be a problem...? Um. Hadn't thought about that before either.

I hope this works out okay.

>Every terrifying horrible man-eating creature you've ever heard about is little more than food to you now.
I, uh. I'm pretty sure I'm smaller than a dragon. Like, potentially, a lot smaller than a dragon. Depending on how big the dragon is, I guess. But I hear they're really big.

Or, like. A roc. Rocs are a lot bigger than this, too. One of the university souts was showing off a roc feather, and, like, he was keeping it in a wagon, okay? ... I mean, it wasn't the only thing in the wagon, but it was big enough to need one, is the point.

I mean, even the smaller big creatures are probably as big as I am.

... I guess I probably won't run into anything like that in the forest, but, uh... I'm not that big! Ketzas are pretty small, so even if I'm as tall as ten ketzas, that's not as big as you seem to think it is!
