Deep in the aether, amid the expanse of both everything and nothing, a new entity forms.

The fabric of Cosmos draws together, and all at once you are thrown into existence.

Yet shapeless, you find yourself before a cast of four. A tremendous voice calls to you.

Be welcome, Aspect. Thou hast been spun unto creation to serve thine God. Choose now, the Divinity thou wishes to follow. Once chosen, thou shalt be cast into physicality under thine master's banner, with duty to honor them, and deliver their Word to the folk of the land."

:Wehi: Well chosen, Aspect. As my servant it is your mission to bring me worship. Your method is up to you. You may gather the people under my name, or you may choose to simply incite fear in the masses. All that matters is that more are brought to respect and acknowledge my power.

As a newborn Aspect, you are gifted with functional immortality. Your body may suffer harm, but you cannot truly be killed, for you will simply be returned to your God's hall in the aether. Furthermore, you are granted one power of your Master's influence.

-Chill: Generate an unsettling miasma, giving those around you a vague sense of unease. Followers of your God are immune.
-Glare: Direct eye contact allows you to cause the weak-willed to see their worst fears around them. Followers of your God are immune.
-Bolster: Generate an aura of fearlessness, encouraging those around you. Only affects followers of your God.
-Benevolent Touch: Direct contact allows you to drain fear from an individual, boosting your power slightly. Usable on anyone.

I'm personally drawn towards benevolent touch myself.
If nothing else, we could possibly abuse it, making this endless cycle of making people fear us, then draining it away for more power...

I vote Chill.

Just think of it...
1. Be in a heavily populated area.
2. Activate Chill.
3. Start Screaming in tongues.
4. Kill somebody.
5. Profit.

Plus it's a great mood setter for sermons!

We should choose Glare, as Chill is just a fart and as we are, we should really only be taking on one at a time as that is when people are most anxious anyway

Benevolent Touch. We can build followers by taking fear away and gain power at the same time.

Benevolent Touch. Fearless opponents are intimidating as fuck in a fight, thereby creating a net gain in fear while letting us absorb some. (berserkers anyone?)
>>
No. 623751 ID: 3bfd9b

I'm going to asume that we can gain extra powers in the future, so we can get the most important of those.

Chill has it's uses, but i belive Glare will be more useful than the others, and the avility to reduce a great lider to sobing mess is neat. Benevolent touch will be only usefull in combat mostly.

So yea, Glare

:Wehi: "Glare? Not a bad choice, if I say so myself. A good deal of fun to be had with that one. Make good use of it, and I may reward you further! For now, you should be going."

In the mountains of Whenua, a pillar grows from the land. It glows with radiant divinity, seeping into the ground around it. The air crackles with energy and the wind whirls into a vortex as a rift between planes is opened anew.

You cross the rift and take your first steps in this domain entirely new to you. You take a moment to process your new form and abilities.

You are Mataku, Aspect and servant of the God of Fear, Wehi. You are to make your way to the people and bring them the word of Wehi. You are functionally immortal, and possess the power of Glare. You may bestow the blessing of Wehi to devout worshipers.

:Wehi: "If I'm honest, I'm not terribly fond of formalities so I'll speak plainly here. You can do whatever you want here, Aspect, so long as you do it with the end goal of spreading my influence. Try to have fun with it, I give more points for quality than quantity. Just make sure you never forget that what I give I can just as easily take away."

You'd best get started, then.

Alright let's scout the nearby area. Are there any indications of civilization?
>>
No. 623828 ID: 9ddf68

so run around scaring people and and creating a cult that is based around fear. Got it. We just need to find some thrill seekers who like being afraid and some natural cowards and offer to take there fear away or something. Sounds fun.

But before we do any of that, we need to find a town or city or something. So looking around what do you see?
>>
No. 623829 ID: 330ce5

Find people and watch them from the shadows learning about them. Then create a plan in order to convert a good chunk of them. Sure running into any town and turning it to hell will convert a few, but if we take our time and plan carefully we can turn whole kingdoms!

You make your way down the mountain until you reach some semblance of a path. As you follow it, you take note of the cool, crisp air. The area is temperate, and lush grass grows in the cracks in the rocks where soil has gathered. However, you occasionally feel a breeze of warm air circulating from the other side of the mountain.

In time, your small footpath emerges to a well-worn road. A signpost indicates nearby settlements.

RIGHT:
Green grasslands fade towards the horizon, blending into thick woodlands in the distance. You think you can see a thin plume of smoke about a half day's walk, indicative of a town. CITIES: Muri Taiepa, Rau-Arai

LEFT:
Soft grass and thick bushes begin to fade into crackling, arid shrubland. The path curves in the distance, turning back towards the mountains. A hot wind clearly blows from this way. CITIES: Roto Puehu

OTHER:
An additional sign is tacked onto the post crudely at roughly waist height. Messy, garbled lettering carved onto what appears to simply be a large strip of bark directs you to the village of Pai Iwi.

You could also choose to explore off the path.
>>
No. 624026 ID: 9ddf68

well the woods would grant you a great place to hide and depending on how we play it we could generate a lot of fear by simply hiding in the woods and coming out only to scare the crap out of people or those who venture to far into the woods.

I'm also kinda curious about this Pai Iwi. I'm guessing the village is either small, new, a poor community, or all all of the above but because so little is know about it I kinda want to know more.

Voting we head towards the woods for now. We can always come back later if we need to.
>>
No. 624062 ID: 82efdc

I'm for the village. A small out of the way place would be easier to impress with faith than a more cynical city. Good stomping ground to practice, and backlash on a smaller scale if we screw up.

>You may bestow the blessing of Wehi to devout worshipers.
What would that blessing entail?

You decide to make your way to Pai Iwi and start small. Following the makeshift signs along the way, the road diverts into a small footpath once again heading into the mountains. Soon the path becomes a vague track through rocky outcrops and precariously settled boulders.

The blessing of Wehi you may bestow is simply recognition of their worship, allowing them immunity to certain fear-based powers. It appears as a faint yellow aura, but only gods and more powerful aspects can see it without being made aware of it first.

...You think you may have gotten lost along the way. However, the faint smell of smoke and a quiet murmur of activity leads you to a relatively large opening in the rocks. You look in and see what must be Pai Iwi. It looks to be a very modest village, consisting of one medium sized building and a cluster of tents settled towards the end of a large cavern. The village's focal point seems to be a small door in the far cave wall, with lit torches on either side. You can make out a few figures bustling about the buildings.

What would you like to do?
>>
No. 624425 ID: 330ce5

Try glaring at someone from this distance, if this succeeds then we plague the village for a few days then come in promising freedom from their fears. We could do this anyway but from a distance we would probably be a lot safer.
Another option that we wait for someone to leave the village, capture them and mold them through isolation and fear. Once fully crafted into what we need we release them back onto to the village and convert it from the inside.
>>
No. 624457 ID: 9ddf68

I say just bum around the edge of the village and see if you can't catch someone alone or in a small group. (2-3 people)

If so get closer and see what they look like and we can decide how to act from there.

If distance glare doesn't work,
enter the cave.
