Huh....Welp.....

........

....Okay maybe I should have thought about this a little more.

But I'm okay though, I'm okay, just got to use this as a, uh...a learning experience! Now I know that standing in a field all day is not a good way to catch someone to rob! A great lesson for any criminal to learn, I'd say. One step closer to becoming a great brigand master!

That's the way Agg, keep it positive and things'll work out. Now then, just gotta think about a better way to go about this....

Well, how close are you to a main road or town? You want to be close enough to spot someone to brigand at, but not so close that they see you first.

Turning a loss into a learning experience is all well and good but if the lessons are so rudimentary then it'll take so many steps you'll be old and wrinkled before you're cunning enough to be even a reasonable brigand master. Now we'll need a road with plenty of foot traffic but mostly from the poor, rich people can usually afford proper guards and the roads they travel are usually worth defending to the local authority and by yourself you're just not ready to be dealing with that. Also I'd recommend a change of clothes with some kind of covering for your face and head for when your out robbing. If you wear different clothes when you're out robbing they will be less apt to identify you when your just trying to enjoy a meal in town.

Hrrrmmmmm...

Let's see, what do I have? I got my father's old sword, his breastplate and pauldron, and around fifty silvers. Not enough to get together a good gang, or even afford a disguise for when I'm in action....

Maybe I should get closer to a road with some poorer people travelling it? Farmer's Path is a couple miles east, close to Berbarusk, and then there's Forest Road up in the hills. They both get plenty of people passing through, usually alone. Hmmmm, which do I want to go for though...?

What are the surrounding lands like on the Farmer's Path? I'm guessing Forest Path either passes through or very near a forest which will give you a place to hide in wait when planning to attack as well as somewhere to retreat to when you're done. Also for now it's probably best to plan out a few places to use, it'll make it harder for them to defend against you if they can never be sure what road you're going to strike at any given time.

I vote Forest Road.
It's in the hills,
Hill Bandits are cool.

Do you have a hideout?

Oh! Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the map! Father and his gang used this for years before they left, it's marked up with a lot of their favorite hideouts and ambush spots. Let's see....

Farmer's Path is surrounded by flat grounds for the most part, it goes right through Duke Berba's wheat fields and passes close to Berbarusk. Forest Road is farther from the town's influence but the people who travel it are usually a lot richer than the average farmer....

Ach, maybe I shouldn't think about this too hard. Father always said a man had to trust his instincts, maybe my subconscious will know where to go....

......

Hill bandits always were pretty cool.

What do you mean were?
They still are!

You should visit one of the hideouts before you go robbing anybody, you might find some supplies.

Oh, I don't really have a hideout yet, do I? I guess I'll try to find one of Father's old ones once I'm in the forest--

>"C'mon, Merlane, we're so late!"

Huh?

>"Just let me have a few more tries!"

>"Uuuugh...I admire the want to learn, but I got a wife and some food to head home to."

>"C'mooooon, just once more! Just one more time, how do I hold this scythe?"

Two farmers, and they're alone! I'm blanking out, what would a brigand do right now?!

Run and them and take one hostage! Tell the other person to hand over everything they have or the hostage gets it.
