Year: 0AD
Month: January.

You are a young and headstrong man who has recently inherited land from your late father. The emperor of the land has decreed that with your late fathers land and his military grant you create a safe haven for at least five other war veterans to live.

For this vital job you have been given three years to prepare for their arrival. They are picky and will require some fancy housing and some form of luxury living.

To start, you are going to need to get building your brand new village. Probably starting with somewhere for you to live.

You have:
-200 wood.
-40 stone.
-100 leather.
-500 coin.

What will you name your village and what is your first course of action?

Name the place Fuxarusu. Build a small hut for yourself; you can snazz it up later after you've fulfilled the emperor's decree.

Call this town Riverwood. Start building houses and roads.

village of butts

Let's go with One-River. We'll show those stuck-up snobs at Two-River what for! To maximize trade from the river and our shipping industry (we will definitely need more supplies) the first thing we need to get cracking on is a pier, but we will definitely need to hire some workers.

While tents are okay to start off with, I would definitely advise building some military-style barracks for these workers. When they finally get enough coin to have their own homes, they will move out and then suddenly free up space for some sort of police force.

Remember: Build things big, simple, and easy to expand.

Anyone (and you need to make one for yourself!) needs a free tent when they get started.

Okay uh slap together a serviceable house near the edge of the property where it won't get in the way of the fancy houses you're gonna build in prime locations.

Also name the place Burgville.

Well, we're at a slip of a stream, so let's call our new village Slipstream.
We can construct a dwelling a bit upriver, but not too close to the stream.

Nutwood. Make a lumber mill first, to help with getting more resources. You can put a bed in it until you can make a house of your own.

Month: January.

You name your village to be Nut River and set up your first all-purpose abode for yourself. It is a longtent! A handy little low tier home you can set up in just an hour! Cheap to boot.
(-20 leather, -10 wood)

You would hire workers, but they kind of like living where they currently are, you are a fair ways away. You're going to need to convince people that your spot is THE spot!

Something that might help with that is a pier. Well, a glorified boardwalk really. Hopefully it'll open up some opportunities.

Anything else you would like to do before the month ends?

Survey the property for natural resources, then hire a minstrel to spend positive news about the place (possibly considering opportunities).

Might want to start building a road then? Plan out your main street.

It would be worthwhile building a small Inn/ bunkhouse in the near future. Some place that can be used to both house & feed workers as well as any travelers that may be passing through the area.

I concur with the search for natural resources. Any good supplies of things such as metals, gems or even just good hardwood could be very useful and act as a draw for people.

Survey the property for natural resources, make plans to divert some water for a fish pond.

I'd say build a Shop that sells supplies and such as soon as you can, as all good cities start out as a pit stop between point A, and point B...then people eventually start to figure out "oh hey, this place might be a nice place to live/start a buisness"

Scout out for natural resources.

We only have 3 years, we are going to have to focus most of our efforts on getting the house actually made. We don't need to start up a large scale resource gathering effort yet. We need some basic things such as
1. form some manner of transport with the closest community, we should be able to buy anything we need from them and might be able to gain some cash from any surpluses as we grow our resource gathering trade. a steady source of labor wouldn't hurt either, dock is a great place to start. The river would make a good trade route.

2. we need some place for our workers to eat and sleep. Something simple and easy, probably barracks style for now.

3. some fishermen or hunters to make a basic stockpile of food (farmers might work as well but I would guess they take longer to set up).

4. some woodcutters to maintain our supply of lumber.

5. we need some builders to start on the manor and improve the speed of building things.

6. we need to build a Storehouse to keep all of our resources out of the elements.

7. we need to begin the foundations of the manor, preferably using our meager stone supplies. If we need more stone we will probably have to buy it. Finding a good quarry will take time that we may not have.
