I don't think it's wise to screw around with it before inspecting it, so I inspect it first.

It's just a plain, thin wire, holding the CD in place.
When I ask Bane where it came from he tells me:
>"It was 'ere when I walked in, mah ducky."

Looking up closer, the back of it seems to say "David"

If anyone should pull the wire, I personally think it should be Bane.

Right now most of the replies are for trusting Bane. Or at least not to outright attack him.

Well I say that we kill Bane. Destroy him using all available weaponry and skills. End him before he ends us.

Now, I'm a minority here. If Alice actually listens to this lone voice and tries to attack, it's an obvious railroad. If I am ignored because it would be too obvious of a railroad, especially now that I have pointed this out, then the majority is satisfied and my mission is complete.

Either way, it's a win-win situation. Let's see what happens.

Bane has done nothing to us to warrant actions against him. He has helped us through a multitude of troubles, and saved our lives, volunteered to do risky tasks for our sakes.

Killing him over an out of context video would not do him justice in the slightest.

Be very damn careful with moving the acid tank, in fact I would just say it can wait until you know you have a way to treat any possible exposure burns (an emergency shower, counter-agents, even just a working sink or faucet...)

If only there was a way to bail it out or reduce the level of fluid (or even neutralize the solution) in the tank it would be much easier to shift safely.

As any chemist knows, the trick for dealing with strong acid is to just add water. Dilute that shit down and then neutralize it using a buffer and base. Get it near 7 and then you only have to worry about the toxicity of whatever chemicals are in it.

we dont have that. you think the acid could react with oxygen? or maybe one of the tanks isnt oxygen...

>>
No. 189789 ID: bc0d0d

>>189747

If that isn't feasible, even the strongest acids have certain materials they don't react with very well. Most won't affect glass, the notable exception being hydrofluoric acid which instead won't affect polythene of all things. If the tank is glass then it's contents are not HF, if plastic they probably are; either way if you can find any largeish objects of the same material you can use them as tools to fish out the object from the bottom reasonably safely. Gloves or thick fabric will be enough to absorb any small splashes, although they'll be wrecked as a result.

The tube could well be used for dredging the acid tank if you could get one of it's segments loose. Try to make sure you can return the segment once you're done though, just in case the pipe occasionally carries something fun like more of the acid.

""Them" who?" I question Bane, to which he replies: "The sods who ran all the experiments, the sick sadists that tore open my body just t' see if I could survive i'!"
"We found Cid in a dark chamber, he was starving" says Jason, I fill in: "He was in the patient records, he was locked up to starve forever. He's been in there so long he can't remember anything else." Cid nods: "You look familiar, though..."

trust in Bane, we know he's our friend, he helped save us from Pete, Cid we don't know about and he seems really smart and computer savy to just be some random patient

Bane helped us a lot, so tell him you trust him and you are sure he is just concerned about the safety of the group.

But also tell Bane that Cid is not really a danger in his current state. Tell him, if it makes him happy, he can have an eye on Cid and raise alarm as soon as he thinks something suspicious is up.
But until then, the chances of survival for anybody are higher the more help you get.

"Bane, Cid helped me help you when you were stuck in the detention block place, he's on our side."I say, taking a pause for a moment.

"But I trust you, you're our friend, and you've helped us fight off Pete. If it makes you happy, you can keep and eye on him in case he does anything suspicious."
"That said, Cid is really computer savvy, and we need his help."

Bane folds his arms, "foine, yer in charge, but if 'e tries anythin' he's a dead man."
Cid nods, "I guess that's settled then. The AI mainframe, or at least part of it, should be through this north door."
He looks at the doorway, and informs us that "The light of that alarm is on, so we'll need gas masks, there should be other ways into the room, but this is the fastest."

Jason summerises: "So we can either go through a gas chamber or find another way to the AI."
I fill in, "is the hardware in this room of any use?"

check that panel in the middle of the room.

"Can you take a look at this panel?" I ask Cid, he tells me "probbably, with some time. But this kit is missing some tools and parts."

"Can you fix it now?" asks Jason.
"Yeah, there's enough spare wire in here to fix it. This looks like it's a server or a power supply of sorts. It could restore the power to parts of the facility."
"The question is, do we -want- to fix it?"

It's possible this restores the power of the facility, so it would also restore access to the AI.
We could use the oxyghen tanks and get 2 of us through the next chamber. Or we could find a way around.

I can't reach that.

"Momdad?" I ask, when a voice is heard almost instantly: "Yes, dear?"

I ask our electronic 'parent': "Is there anything specificly offline?"
"I am functioning at 45% capacity, lights in some regions of the facility are offline, some computer terminals are disconnected, power to the exit door is offline, I can't tell you about the other pieces of equipment, those are not for you to know about" proclaims the male voice of Momad.

that was quite unspecific. ask momdad about this panel in particular.

we should problaby ask what is in the gas chamber, and if it can be "emptied"

That's a sign with a gasmask on it, the border around it is lit up. I guess it looks like Cid because it kind of follows the curves of a skull. And, well, Cid is skin over bone.

"Thank you dad. Can you tell me about this panel in particular?" I ask our digital friend, it replies: "This panel is one of many points through which I'm able to control the facility. If you treated the 'wound' I should have access to more of the facility."
Cid explains that by that it means that "If we fix it it restores control, meaning it has access to more systems. Doors, ventilation, traps, security, etc."
"Could you use the ventilation system to remove the gas from this gas chamber?" I ask; "That isn't a gas chamber, silly, that's a chamber that happends to be flooded with gas. But yes, I could do that."

:Alice: "Could you help us pass to the other side? Actually, what's on the other side?"
:momdad: "I am on the other side, dear. And unless you have a security card, you're not allowed in."

well, momdad is still butthurt about its privacy.

ask it if it needs attention of some sort, and where is the current workers of the building.

i just noticed we could ask momdad to depower the panel while we do a quick fix job. hoping it can also lead to some more answers about the place.

i forgot, what are your long term goals?
