The Tripod Pesh, facing increased competition and predication on the shore are forced to move further inland, grazing on the jir trees. surviving in this harsh environment forces them to undergo rapid evolutionary changes, first their antenna develop a more sophisticated light detection system allowing them to identify the shape of objects within range, this allows them to both navigate the landscape and identify and move towards Jir-trees. the antenna also elongate, developing a serrated edge that allows them to pull the juicier, higher leaves down to their new, grinding mouth parts.
they also increase massively in size, allowing them to graze the upper leaves without competition from other pesh.
the second alteration is a much thicker skin, this has a dual effect of protecting them from more of the still harmful uv radiation, and increasing their water retention allowing them to move further from the ocean in search of food, however they are still required to return to the ocean to breed.
With the departure of the tripods, the quadraped Grazer Pesh come under sustained assault from predators, in response to this they grow a much thicker and more protective shell of interlocking plates, almost forming a exoskeleton over their body. when threatened, the Grazer pulls itself into a crouch, tucking its head beneath itself and shuffling it legs to dig them into the sand, anchoring it down and protecting its soft under side. their antenna develop a increased sensitivity to motion that allows them to detect incoming predators.
The small, Horned pesh get smaller still, relying on speed to protect them from both predators and the sun. it adopts a almost parasitic existence with the Jir tree,s using its horn to Dig holes into its trunk to feed and under its root to form dens.
All three pesh forms gain a rudimentary lung/gill internal structure allowing it to move out of water longer.
Robbed of near two thirds its food source, the Ram pesh splits into two, one line moves back to the deeper waters, renaming relatively unchanged as they hunt the various swimmers, the second however undergoes extreme changes, developing rudimentary limbs that allow it to drag itself over the beach as well as further hardened plates. its tail also becomes much more powerful, giving it a devestating charge attack that it uses to flip Grazers before they can dig in.
its scent pits/gills become further attuned to scents in both the water and air, allowing it a degree of precision when hunting
Facing increased predication, the Filter pesh becomes smaller, sleeker moving through the water much faster then before, it also grows larger, more powerful "Wings" that both increase its speed, and from time to time allow it to Shoot out of the water and glide for short periods of time. it has yet to capatalize on that evolutionary advantage however.
