Well, running blindly is never a good thing. A school isn't the worst location for this kind of thing though- most schools are made to be able to lock down, making for small, defensible positions. It's not good long term though, not much food, and you're trapped if no one is coming for you.

A school does tend to have multiple exits though, if you're planning on getting out.
