"Why is it so rare for there to be a decent movie on the shelf? Still, I should count myself lucky to even be able to rent movies in a store. It’s such an antiquated idea, one among many in this town."-Jack

Grab a copy of Gremlins. It's getting close to that time of year again.

“My spirits are in need of lifting. Some campy humor would do me well and Gremlins is always in stock. It’s one of those movies that you see every ten years and every other Saturday on cable. I get the movie and pay the clerk exiting the store.
It’s amazing how much brighter the streetlights are compared to that crummy store. I often wonder if it’s intentional. The low lighting creating a melancholy atmosphere that slowly drains the will power of the citizens. All of the stores are like that, complete with the war veteran sitting on the side walk begging for change. No this one was a dad down on his luck, it’s been to long since I heard his story, maybe he changed it since last I heard it.” –Jack’s Monolog.

If you have money to spend on movie rentals, you probably have money for a unique story.

“Why not, so few confront these people for the inconstancies in their stories. I change my path back to the car to stand in front of the beggar as he starts off with a line about his family and how he needs forty dollars to pay a bill. The story is fragmented seeming cobbled together from several others. I wonder how many people listen to these instead of hearing a few choice words and either continuing along their way or throw a few coins on the ground. “–Jack’s Monolog.

I guess in the end it's whether you choose to give or not that really matters, but I wonder how many people have real stories to tell and just want someone to listen?

Anyway, give him a few bucks. He's probably a liar but oh well. Liars still have to eat.
