Faint illumination is seeping through the edges of the manhole cover.

Hmmm, everything looks the same in this room, no changes here.
Should I check the other rooms?
>>
No. 431910 ID: d8f016

Well, examining other rooms to see if you missed anything when stumped by a puzzle is kind of standard procedure.

However, I'm not sure there's anything we saw you could use to bridge the gap. There was the wood, but that's guarded by an angry dire-termite thing, probably eaten by now, and not long enough anyways.

I don't suppose the pillar you found us on can be rotated? I'm thinking if we can rotate the floor in the pit room, an arm of the V could be made to serve as a bridge, instead of a ledge.

Sure, I'll go look in all the other rooms, see if there's anything that'll help.
But firstly, no, the pillar doesn't rotate in any way, it's pretty damn rigid.

I'll go check the creepy termite's room now.

> "Ay maaate! Whatcha' doin' back her' now? Hope ya' rememberin' to stay away from mah wood!"

The termite seems to be a pretty slow eater, he probably savoring every bite or something.
Weird.

He still hasn't got onto the two planks yet, and has them laying neatly side by side on the floor.

I've got a bad feeling.
>>
No. 431919 ID: d8f016

I'm not sure fighting him for the wood is a good idea. Neither piece looks long enough to bridge the gap, and you have no good way to connect the boards. Plus you'd be forced to use your off hand, and he claims to have scary summoning powers (though that could be a bluff).

You could ask him if he knows anything about the puzzle? Or maybe we could get him to eat the locked door for you.

Battle music go!

Okay, he appears to have a tough carapace or exoskeleton. That means using a flimsy skeletal arm as an improved bashing implement will be ineffective. You want to switch to your dagger.

Watch out for the teeth and horns. You best bet is to try and land a penetrative stab in the head into the brain (from above and behind, or below), or a hit on the central torso. Be warned with a dagger you don't have much of a reach advantage, and he's probably more of a risk to you in close combat than vice versa.

Among mundane termites, the warrior caste is capable in some species of emitting toxins. There's even a species capable of an explosive self destruct! I don't know if any of this applies to giant crazy talking termites, but be wary of the possibility.

If he can summon allies, there will be some kind of casting delay. If he attempts to cast a spell, it is imperative you interrupt him before he finishes.

Shorter plank goes across the gap in the "V," and the longer plank goes from the middle of the shorter plank to the other side. No rope or nails to hold it together, so crawl across slowly and with the utmost care.

No. 435399 ID: d1675c

erk, sorry folks, but I just don't think I have the confidence and motivation to do this.

I'll sum up what I had planned though:
Lucair crosses the pit (you guys had the solution right) and finds himself on a pillar in the center of the large cavern. He reveals that this cavern is directly underneath the capital of the kingdom from which he was usurped as king. He then opens the pack and reveals the contents... A small nuclear bomb.
It turns out this world contains traces of a previous civilization, similar to ours but more advanced.
After being usurped, Lucair formed what was essentially a terrorist organisation to get revenge on those who betrayed him. He and his "colleagues" spent many years searching for a powerful enough weapon, a NUKE for example. They found it, do some crazy heist shit and Lucair arrives at where this story began.
As it is obvious that Lucair is on a suicide mission, I was EXPECTING that suggesters would talk him out of it. He would provide exposition on his motivations, who usurped him, and why.
He explains that his kingdom was the most forward moving and accepting in the know world, clearly displayed by the fact that it's king was a gnoll. All species live without prejudice (for the most part). Humans weren't even a majority, just another species of many.
Then a group of dickhead humans come and typically fuck shit up. They are disgusted by the social standing of humans (not on top) and the fact that the king is but a gnoll.
And so they begin their mission of "purifying" the kingdom of all "lesser" species. The majority of the humans were seduced by the natural greed for power present in their minds and were converted to the cause. And so begins a revolution. It took many years, so long in fact that no one even noticed it was happening until it was too late. Lucair, now referred to as the beast king, is usurped and exiled along with all others that could threaten the new human King Lavandaria. The smarter and more powerful species are cast out or killed. The others stay as lower class citizens or as slaves.

And so after (presumably) being talked out of the suicide mission by the voices in the orb, Lucair attempts to escape before the nuke goes off. Using a key found nearby, He opens the last door in the dungeon. The room beyond appears to be a dead end corridor, but it's not hard to find that the back wall is a fake. Lucair breaks through the thin wall and discovers the ruins of an ancient subway station. Searching a skeleton and a one-person nuclear bunker (like the ones in fallout 3) yields a radiation suit, a Geiger counter and some kind of portal device. The portal device takes the following inputs:

Longitude
Latitude
Altitude
Pitch
Yaw
Roll
Snap to Surface (ON/OFF)

Lucair is only vaguely aware of these terms and relies on help from the voices in the orb. Donning the radiation suit, he uses the portal device and emerges somewhere on the surface. The portal device is depleted of whatever it runs on.
Of course, the portal is still up and doesn't seem to be going away, so now Lucair has to RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN because of the impending nuclear explosion that is sure to pass through the portal. He only survives because of the rad suit, but the area surrounding the portal is heavily affected by radioactive fallout and dust. Also the capital of his old kingdom caves into the the cavern below it and absolutely obliterated. Most of kingdom is affected by radiation.
Lucair is feeling pretty shitty right now, having been unaware of how much collateral damage the bomb would cause. But the voices in the orb do what they do best and inspire him to get past the fact that he just killed hundreds of people and doomed many others to various slow deaths due to radiation poisoning.
The rest of the quest is pretty loosely planned and would be similar to the style of Divequest and KnightsBlades.
Lucair building a new kingdom and whatnot.

So uhh, what do you guys think?
Who knows, if you actually like it I might try again.

Damn it i was enjoying this quest, and from what you had planned it would have been fun trying to rebuild the kindom while abusing the orbs knowlege of forgotten technology.

Would it have been possible to convince Lucair NOT to bomb the city? And then we could have tried taking back control like the humans did it. Slowly amassing support and trying to stay hidden from the state. Until finally we would have enough allies in high enough places to try a coup.
Too bad you lacked motivation and confidence.

Also i liked the numerous gifs.

But I just keep forcing myself to suffer them.
WHY
AM I SOME KIND OF MASOCHIST

To make it clear, I don't have confidence in the art and FUN factors. I keep making the art style too hard to quickly replicate and get really anal about the quality.
My DREEAAAM would be to be able to be satisfied with crude weaver-esque doodles, because I know that would make telling this story a lot easier.
I guess I've got some kind of shitty artistic pride.

Is this thread just turning into my bitch thread, christ.
And I honestly didn't know anyone was enjoying it, pffft.

This is no longer consul the whiney wolf king quest. This is now consul the author quest! In a meta-quest, you'll follow our commands, instructions and advice for making a que... wait we already did that one.

>spoilers spoilers spoilers
Well, if he was on a suicide mission, his leaving the gold behind makes more sense now.

I wouldn't have assumed we'd talk him down though. Yes, that seems like the kind of thing we'd do. Personally, I would have berated him for the obvious hypocrisy and betrayal of a king destroying his own people. Or maybe even dared him to do it- since he's been fun to antagonize. But you can't count on us to play along with plans. Like the portal gun? I doubt we would have gone strait for the exit. We probably would have tried to do something clever with it (like trapping the bomb in a zero-distance portal loop to contain it) or experimented, burning the one charge.

I'm reading these posts on my quest, and I never even realized anyone liked it.

I really want to tell a story, and let people interact with it. I think it would be fun, and I think I would be good at it.

But time after time I fail to keep my mojo about me.

My most recent failure was CleanseQuest.
I simply lost confidence in the story and motivation to do the art.

But all is not lost.

If I can find a way to not just recover my mojo, but also prevent it from happening again...
CleaseQuest may return.
Or I might even start something better.
So lets go and try do this quest, aye?

First I decided to re-read RubyQuest, then re-read NanQuest, then I went to DiveQuest then KnightsBlades then JourneyQuest then CheeQuest and now TozolQuest.
Also a lot of smaller ones in between.

Reading quests makes me want to make my own, simple as that. I start reading them, and soon enough I'm thinking up a story.
