The Festival of the Sentinels happens every eighteen seasons in the beginning of the blossom quarter. Each town and city possesses their own similar festival, but in the town of Ureck it happens at this specific season and quarter. The festival honors the legacy of the old sentinels, and celebrates the coming of the new. There's always mixed emotions during this time of period as there's is much mourning as there is much celebration.

This festival is presumed to be the former. Two out of the five chosen sentinels from the previous festival are still standing; three sentinels have fallen within the past eighteen years protecting Ureck from the drudge. The drudge are formidable beasts made out of steel, tar, and flesh, it's said that they were the ones that corrupted the lands in the previous age, and now seek to extinguish the fire of mankind in this one. Fortunately, mankind isn't as defenseless against these horrifying beasts in this age as the sentinels are there to counter against their toxicity.

Insert cliche anime opening here.

------------------------------

You lay quietly in bed as you listen to the outside chatter from the townsfolk in the street down bellow. You've been awake for quite some time now, but you're hesitant on waking up since you didn't get an once of sleep last night. This is going to be your first Festival of the Sentinels so you couldn't help but feel excited for today, despite its gloomy mood. Feeling somewhat between dead and alive, the outside light found a crack in your room's window and is now steadily creeping towards you.

Figuring that enough is enough, you roll out of bed and sluggishly approach in front of a tall mirror that's on top of a wooden drawer. With your sight half focused, you see...

Character creation time~!

>Gender

A boy... or... a girl?

>History

A youthful and lean face that has a distracting scar starting from bellow your right cheek that ends up to your right brow. You've gained this scar from courageously fending off a drudge minion as it approached a wounded sentinel. Before your heroics, you're known to be a delinquent that gets into fights very often, but as of late you've been receiving praise for protecting a popular sentinel. This sentinel has even been keeping a close eye on you, keeping you away from trouble, which you find rather unfortunate.

A round and smooth face that has a pair of glowing white eyes. Without having a choice, you were born with a social stigma. Once people look into your illuminating eyes, you are looked down upon as you have what others have called the nanite curse. However, your reputation has begun to better after a recent incident that happened in the maintenance ward; apparently you talked down a resentful sentient artificial intelligent from poisoning the town's water supply. Now the townsfolk see you as being gifted with the power to speak with the artificial.

A squared face that has light smears of crude grease around your dirtied face. You're known to be an engineering genius! You're credited in saving the town in the past. The town's drudge scanner begun to malfunction when all of the town's engineers were away in repairing a power coordinator that's located outside of town. With no one to turn to, the town's mayor have asked you, a wet-behind-the-ears engineer to fix the malfunction. Fortunately, you did and once the drudge scanner became operational the town found itself surrounded by cloaked drudge, which can not be detected without a drudge scanner!

I'll give you guys half an hour (or more depending upon the pace) to pick and chose. Afterward, I'll have about an hour or two to update the quest frequently. Chose wisely now!

Girl. Glowing white eyes.

for the love of god make it a guy this time. tgchan's character repertoire is like the opposite of a sausage fest, which I always thought was a good thing, but it turns out it isn't when you're roleplaying as one of the girls because there are no guys to roleplay as.

also, scar, because scars are sexy.

It's true, we need more male characters. But everyone loves a female character. The obvious answer is a trap. If that isn't an option, voting female.

Y'know, gender switching to be compatible with whoever is closest would be potentially hilarious. Also useful as an interesting form of detection for hidden people.
Yes glowing eyes.

Come on, guys, seriously. TGchan -always- tries for girl (or something wierd), and -always- tries for mage. Let's do a guy and a warrior, please?

Technically, Those voting for a trap are voting for a male. And there's no reason a machine-empath can't be a warrior. Especially if one gets hands on an exo-suit or somesuch.

Upvoting the gender-changer. Changing at unpredictable times is one of the things that made Ranma 1/2 so fun. }:D

And technically, that counts as 'something weird' in my book. I wanna see a badass normal character, a male character that isn't 'just male half the time' or 'is a trap' or anything, or both. Preferably both. Please, can we do something different?
>>
No. 411782 ID: f2e56f

>>411779
Nah, now we have you as our source of existential dread regarding just wanting to be a normal thing meta-ly instead of author shenanigans. Also, badass normals work best as a secondary perspective character you sometimes swap to if you ask me. Usually.

>A boy... or... a girl?
I wonder if this is sensitivity about gender identity... Unless we have to worry about relationships or which bathroom we use, it doesn't matter.

>With your sight half focused, you see...
Snot dripping from your nose. In addition, your pillow is full of your drool. Time to straighten up.

Meh. Just saying, the whole 'crazy gender shenanigans' is the norm rather than the exception around here. Figure a badass normal main character might be a nice change of pace. I'm a fan of the whole concept of a mundane guy going up against crazy magic or whatever and winning.

...Though, I do have to wonder if this is even gonna matter. >>411702 up there kinda necro'd the thread, not sure the guy who made this is even still around.

Give it a few days, the person might still be around. And you should probably make a new thread if you are going to do something new, really.

...Actually, make a new thread, run with the a similar concept with your own spin on things?
