You could try to trade with the humans anyway if any come by. Just be very careful. They might make an exception if you're a single cute lizard who doesn't seem to be tricking them into an ambush. Ask to approach and trade from a safe distance and with plenty of cover in case they answer with arrows or something. Meet up with a representative first, see what the rules are and check if they have a problem with you keeping a captive kobold. It doesn't hurt to check the caravans for another potential mate either. The kobold you have so far is hardly a suitable candidate on his own.

If you do hunt then try to stretch, scrape and prepare the fur if you know how. It might be acceptable as a trade good or you could use it to make some armor or improve your shelter. Also dry some meat for later.

Try to interact with that kobold. The original plan was to use him to get info on the kobold society. You better not have picked up the only mute kobold in the forest or something.

Human trade seems the most plausible long term gain. No racial hatred, if maybe bigotry and suspicion, and usually all over the place with trade routes. Good for information and supplies. Also, yeah, talk to the 'bold to find out more about him.

Try not to use violence on the kobold. Feed him and praise him when he does well. Speak harshly to him and take away his food if he doesn't. He was also quite good with the slingshot before. Have you still got it? If not can you make him a new one?

Prepare some poison darts and poison your spear while you observe this goblin. Does it look like he is alone? Approach confidently once you think you have a better measure of him. You want to find out if the goblins will trade or work with you. Also it would be nice to know if there are any interesting groups around. question him about possible places to find a mate, but try to do it without letting him know you're hunting men.

Kobold should learn through FEAR should he disobey you...and smatterings of positive re-enforcement, now and then. The slightly randomized rewards mentioned here >>416357 sound like an excellent idea.

Humane approach if you ask me. Mostly reward, reward denial, and only true stick if massively fucks up. You win the heart/mind you'll have beater results than breaking will.

Why do you keep wasting sneak attacks? Go there and beat the fuck out of him. If he isn't strong, he isn't worth. Same goes for you. Unless you want to explore other possibilities, such as going to college. I recommend this change of plans.

How well would you trust your makeshift spear? Is it good enough to use in a real fight where the opponent could block? How well have you recovered from your last battle?

He's obviously afraid that you're here to take whatever loot he may have found so just make it clear that you want to speak to a goblin like him about the people and places in the surrounding area. You will not take a no for an answer. Just keep shouting across questions to him until he gives in.

It looks like your biggest advantage here might be your longer reach. Keep away from that sword, and all you have to do is maneuver him until he trips over one of those handy obstacles lying on the ground.

That, or just go the direct route and stab him in the sword arm.

Sweeping his legs out from under him with your spear is a good start, then disarm him as best you can, and if you can swing all that, plant a foot on his chest and claim your victory.

This guy seems pretty dumb. Keep on teasing him and asking him questions during the fight and draw it out. He seems like he has a temper issue and that sword seems rather big for him so he might get tired easily. You have longer legs and a tail so you can probably move quicker. Conclusion: Fight defensively. Keep him at bay using your reach and see if you get a chance to use a poison dart or cut him after applying some poison to your spear.

Before you start fighting give your pet kobold a sign of reassurance.

Just egg him on till he over extends yourself, and you can defeat him easily. He's a hot head, and you can use that against him.

Then tie him up and commence training!

We need to prove that we are stronger than him to get him to follow us, see the other posts for combat advice. Our melee skill, plus our new Ancestry upgrade should help.

So we will have the Kobold for magic and a Goblin for melee. If we are making a harem, we should get a base and keep the males there, then take the most appropriate ones with us for future mate hunting.
