My mind is spinning. I've got so many things in my head, I can hardly remember where I am or what I'm supposed to be doing.

Focus. I just have to focus on one specific thought, and maybe that'll bring me some clarity.

Alrighty, think of who you are.

What is normal, anyway? Maybe you shouldn't have to change a thing.

I try to start at square one, focusing my thoughts on who I am and moving forward from there.

A jumble of names pop into my mind at once. I try to sort through them, separating colleagues and early childhood friends from my own identity, but it isn't easy. If only I could just focus...

James Button. It's pronounced "Beau-tonn".

I concentrate, and realize that there are indeed no spoons in the general vicinity. Well, at least that's taken care of.

A new name jumps out at me: James Button, pronounced "Beau-tonn". I can't remember if this is my real name or simply a name taken from elsewhere. The name "Bucket" also comes to mind. I don't know why.

I remember now! I am Ashton Alexanderson Westmoore. But where am I, and what am I doing here?

Looking around, I notice that I'm sitting in a cheap plastic chair, the kind mostly found in a classroom. The room around me is a mess, and my vision is still blurry. I'm not sure what to do.

Check yourself. Are you injured? Tied up? Are you carrying anything?

Is there anyone nearby?

I stand up, but have to lean on the wall for support immediately after. I'm dizzy. I haven't been restrained in any way, and my joints don't feel sore--except my back. My mouth is very dry. I probably haven't had anything to drink in a long time, and there isn't anything lying around in the open. I guess the heaps of rubbish here might have something hidden in them, but they look like regular piles of debris.

I clumsily feel around in my pockets--nothing. Not even a wallet. Although, I don't think I usually carry one...but I'm not sure. I'm probably not myself right now.

I need to get out of this situation, but what do I do? There's plenty of windows in here, but looking out them from here, it seems I'm up at least high enough to not want to jump. A doorway to my right leads into a dark hall. I'm kind of afraid to see what's down it.

Unless there are other exits from the room, it looks like the hall is your only choice. Before you go, it might be a good idea to check the room for anything you might have missed - don't exhaust yourself, though.

I take one last look around the room, but nothing catches my eye. Stumbling out into the dark hallway, I see more debris scattered all around, some kind of space-age tubes affixed to one of the walls, and the fabled light at the end of the tunnel. I think it's coming through a glass door, but I'm not sure. Between me and the light, I can see one open door on the right and what looks like another hallway off to the left, down near the end of this one. The hall lights don't seem to be working--they aren't on and there's no switch to check.

This end of the hallway is covered in the most filth. It seems like further down will have nicer rooms. Which way should I go?

Don't go toward the light!

It'll wreck your night vision. Check out the dark rooms first.

I follow my first instinct and stagger down the hallway towards the door on the right. I am still very dizzy, and my vision remains clouded.

Upon entering, I notice that this room is also cluttered with dirt and debris. What looks like moss or mold grows on the floor, and a large chunk of ceiling hangs freely from above. My blurry vision improves slightly, and I'm able to focus on a window--perfectly in tact, and apparently clean. Strange. A few desks are on the far side of the room, but don't seem all that interesting.

Two things besides the window catch my eye: The row of wires hanging down in a neat row, and the open door by them. The area beyond this next door is oddly dark, and I can't see anything at all past it. I can hear shuffling noises in the distance. Should I investigate, or leave it be and go somewhere else? My mind is still sluggish to respond, so I'm not sure I could react well to danger.

Leave it, go back to the hall and keep going.

I decide that the risk just isn't worth it--I don't know what's beyond that door and I'm in no condition to find out.

I stumble back out into the hallway, trying not to make too much noise. I decide to put as much distance between me and that pitch-black room as possible, so I make a move towards the left of the hallway. I glance out the window as I pass, and learn that I am merely on the ground floor of this building, not high up like I thought when I awoke.

Following the hall to the left, I find myself in a stairwell. The door to it has long since rotted away, and light from the main hall floods in to reveal peeling paint and even more dirt. I lean on the rail, still dizzy and off-balance. From here, the stairs go up and down; a tire lies on the floor beneath me, near another doorway with more stairs leading down. Given that I'm on the ground floor, these stairs would lead to the basement. To my immediate left, the stairs go up. Just behind me is a very clean and new-looking steel door, which apparently leads outside. I pause for a moment, trying to steady myself as I contemplate my choices.
