What are you made of? If of stone, consume the rocks, divide and advance. If of metal, separate into tiny cubes, roll through the spaces between the rocks, then combine outside.

Division and subroutine memory searches have brought up more information. You appear to regain lost mass quickly after cloning, though the files explaining this mechanism are corrupted. Fragments of these files seem to indicated you can absorb properties of certain materials. Furthermore, system spec files indicate you are self-modular, and able to combine with other copies of yourself to produce more complicated shapes and machines.

With adequate forewarning, mass can be shifted to strengthen or make more elastic impacted areas. However, strong, unexpected impacts will likely destroy a unit outright. Piercing attacks theoretically should not be able to permanently damage a unit, but I've discovered a subroutine that will cause a unit to self-destruct if its outer shell is pierced. Comments in the code say this feature is to "prevent infection".

The creature jumps and... lands on top of the rectangle. Scans show zero threat: its musculature is far too undeveloped to cause damage to you. It also seems to be secreting a potent neurotoxin, though this does not effect you. It might as well be giving you a hug, for all the damage it is doing.

You seem to be unable to directly transition into a triangular shape. Code comments cite this feature is a "Containment Measure". Extrapolating from other comments and text files, your creators were afraid that you might divide uncontrollably if certain restrictions were not placed.

Instead, you divide, shift your clone into a square, and have it split into two right smaller right triangles. Hmm... almost. One more division and some shifting around, and you think you have a workable ramp.

Box + Rectangle:(OPTION 2)Wait until the creature hops down into the cave, move inside, expand into a sheet, cover the entrance, trap the creature in. Since the creature isn't a threat, it shouldn't be able to get out, because you're blocking the entrance. What is hoped is that the creature, realizing it's trapped, scrambles to the rock pile, thus collapsing it, and making a way for everyone to get out.

Ramp Ascended. The source of the light seems to be a nearby crystal. Scanning it reveals that it creates an electrical charge. Scans also reveal that I can mimic the properties of this substance by coming into contact with it.

The creature emits a multi-spectrum beam of light into the air, waits for the rectangle to shift into a box in the process of shifting into a horizontally-aligned rectangle, and scampers off to the left.

Still unsure of purpose for setting up base. Shifting is limited to simple shapes, though combining seems to allow simple machines to form. For example, a rectangle and a box could combine into a pump/liquid storage unit: The rectangle and square could hollow out, and the square would internally create a basic pump unit. However, structural modification of this sort render the units unable to detach, move, or shift.

Crystalline Electric form acquired. Peirce resistance up, heat tolerance up, impact resistance down. Shapes in this form can attack by sending out short-distance high-voltage electric shocks, and act as power units/performance boosters when combined with other shapes. Form can be spread or given to another shape by coming into contact with them.

Meanwhile, the outer squares divide, the two resulting squares moving to the cave entrance and becoming a blast door. Blast door has a much higher resistance to attacks from outside, and can open and close to allow or disallow access. The small creature retreated too quickly to take any offensive action.

Inside, it appears there is a small stream past where the crystal was.

Sphere: Pass Electric form to the door, making it more resistant and capable of shocking those who come near. Then hide behind the rock pile, start dividing, and prepare to shock enemies, in case the door gets destroyed.

Ramp: Divide and form a large water tank, with a tube and cap, collect water.

Ramp clones: Investigate right side of the tunnel.

Boxes on the outside: Investigate left side.

Oh, and add a small water tank into the "creature" we're making. Then we can spray water on our enemies, and shock them harder. It refills from the tube on the large water tank.

A Quad-leg would require 8 small squares for use as legs, 8 small circles for use as joints, and a powered square as a body and power source. A pump requires two squares, and can be attached to a powered shape to form a combination water cannon, which can then zap enemies through the water.

The door can no longer change form, but a powered shape may be attached to the inside to allow it to shock enemies that touch the door, or the outside to shock enemies before they touch the door. Or both.

To create a quad-leg with water cannon, a pump to gather water, two powered shapes, preserve the ramp, and leave one unmodified powered shape to be the primary unit will take three generations, about ten minutes, and also produce six unmodified squares. The outside squares would multiply from Two to Sixteen in this time. Is this acceptable?

Also, let us make another ramp. And/or move the rocks out of the way.

Outside squares: Get at least one of you up to the top of the cliff, and start exploring to the left. In that order.
