Now I started this thread on 420chan, and to those of you who are on 420chan and recognize it, I'll still post there, if you guys want. But be aware, this game is completely text, no pictures. This is because I have no artistic skill, only writing ability. And since I have been informed that there is already a Blakequest, I'm changing the name.

So, without further ado, here is [-b]Mansionquest[/b].

You wake up in a bed of fine red linen. The only light comes from a candle on the nightstand next to you. From what you can see, you're lying naked in someone's bedroom, however, you are all alone. The floor is red carpet, and there is a dresser with a mirror. Next to the heavy wooden door is a lightswitch, and the clouds outside are nearly invisible through the window looking out to the night.

Blake heads over to the dresser, the most likely place to look for clothes. Surprisingly, his clothes are in there, cleaned, pressed, and folded. As he dresses, he gives you a quick rundown of who he is.

His name is Blake Packbornne. He's a 21 year old male human. He has average strength, though he took karate class, so he knows how to use it. You have Close Combat as a free ability. Further, when he was in high school, he ran track, so he has Amazing Stamina as well. However, since birth, he has been Nocturnagoraphobic, and never liked going outside in the dark.

N: Something is heard from the other side. Light footsteps. Then, a feminine voice.

???: Quiet, you imbecile! They'll find you!

Narrator: Blake doesn't know what's going on, but it sounds serious. Moving like greased lightning, Blake licks his thumb and pointer finger, before closing them around the flickering flame. Blake then turns to the door, from next to the bed, and waits, in a combat stance. He breathes meditatively, as he waits for whatever comes. Subconsciously, he inches away from the window displaying the cold, dark night.

What feels like an eternity passes. Blake watches the door with intent. Then, heavy, ponderous footsteps are heard, creeping up to the door.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Blake thinks that whoever owns those feet must have clubs for legs. Blake notices that there's a small amount of light seeping into the room from the crack below the door. The footsteps echo in the hall, growing louder.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Blake's muscles tense, but his breathing steadies him. Whoever it is, they're very close now.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

The footsteps outside the door stopped. Blake can see the shadow the feet make through the bottom crack. He's just waiting there. Nothing is happening.

Then, suddenly, a loud, heartstopping 'BANG' echoes from the door, and a new string of light appears, issuing forth from a new crack in the door.

Only one, the window. But Blake is Nocturnagoraphobic. He won't go outside when it's night, under most circumstances.

Somehow, Blake manages to keep his calm, still watching the door. He didn't jump, he didn't scream, and he knows the door can't hit him.

As he watches the door, the shadowy form begins to move off. The thumps of the heavy footfalls grow quieter, and soon, it seems like Blake was in the clear. Maybe the creature didn't actually know Blake was in the room?

Blake sticks his hands in his pockets, trying to find his possessions. To his dismay, his pockets are completely empty. Whoever cleaned his clothes must've been careful enough not to get any of his belongings wet. Considerate, but this fact doesn't help him at the moment.

Blake feels around the bed and nightstand, trying to find something in this extremely low light. He finds nothing on his bed, but behind the candle, towards the window, he feels something square, and metallic. to confirm, he flicks open the top, and smiles when it complies.

Narrator: Let me be clear on what happened. Nobody fired a gun. Whatever it was on the other side of the door hit it with some sort of weapon, or heavy object. And with enough force to crack the door.

B: This door's really thick. I gave it a roundhouse kick, and couldn't even dent it. The lock still works, too. I still can't open it.

N: Blake examines the door handle.

B: There's no way of unlatching the lock from this side. However, there are two Phillips screws whose heads are easily accessible on this side. If I could find some way to unscrew them, I can take out the door handle, and bypass the lock entirely.

Narrator: Taking out the knife, Blake begins fiddling around with the screws on the door handle. It's a bit hard to work with, being that the knife is curved at the tip to ensure you can't stab with it, and it's also a little greasy due to recently being used to carve a steak. But somehow, Blake manages to unscrew the screws, and take off the door handle.

N: Thinking to check everywhere before he leaves, Blake goes over to the bed, gets down on his hands and knees, and looks under it.

Blake: Hey, I found the keys to my truck!

There's a slight knock at the door followed by a whisper. Blake recognizes the voice as Elizabeth's, the girl that warned him from before.

Elizabeth: Are you there? Hello? You haven't gotten yourself discovered or killed yet, have you?

She's dressed in a fine regal dress that hearkens back to the Victorian era. She brushes a crimson bang from her face, her green eyes expressing disapproval as she looks around the room.

Elizabeth: I see you've managed to utterly destroy not just my door, but my guest room, as well.

N: Blake sees that she is more concerned with the state of her room than his well being. But she's not actively trying to harm him.

Blake: Hey, if you want, I can throw a rock through the window or take a hammer to the mirror. That will REALLY complete the feng shui in here.

E: How generously quaint of you.

B: (Speak for yourself)

E: I'm sorry, we haven't formally met. I am Lady Elizabeth Alli Cardia IV, daughter of Vincent Cardia.

N: Elizabeth extends a hand, in a manner just as old-fashioned as the way she dressed. Catching on, Blake takes her hand in his.

B: Blake Marcus Packbornne.

N: Blake kisses her knuckle in introduction.

B: Now that introductions are out of the way, do you mind telling me what's going on?

E: I'm not sure, really. My brother and I inherited this mansion from our father just six years ago, along with it's staff, our servants. We had decided to start expanding the cellar, so we hired a construction company. But a few days ago, about the time you arrived, the servants started reporting the construction workers acting strangely. Then, the workers and servants...changed. They...turned into monsters, and started attacking everyone who had not changed yet. It grew worse when my brother went mad, and started preaching about an ancient darkness. The ones who changed follow his instructions, and he wants all who have not changed in this world turned, or destroyed.

Narrator: As soon as she said this, memories began flooding back to Blake. The last thing he remembered was driving down an unused road in his pickup. It was a rainy night. He was going to visit his sister living on the opposite coast from him. He must be in the midwest, by now.

The road was dark, and stormy, and Blake had been driving for a couple hours. He had stopped by a coffee shop, and gotten a good caffeine fix, though. He remembered that he saw something dart in front of your truck. It was big, quick, and houndlike. He panicked, and skidded out, crashing into a tree. After that, he was knocked unconscious.

E: I've been nursing you back to health for the past three days. It was only very recently that my servants began to turn on me.

B: I need to get to my truck.

E: What ever for? Your truck was in repairs when my servants started turning. We can't escape, especially since I accidentally lost your keys.

B: I found them. There's equipment we can use to survive in there.

E: Oh...Very well, then. Your truck is in the garage on the first floor, but you will be hard pressed to get there on your own. I shall accompany you.

B: That's all well and good. While we're on the subject, I had more items than just my cellphone and keys. Do you have any idea where they are?

E: I kept your wallet. I couldn't trust someone walking in and trying to steal what's rightfully yours. It should be in my quarters. Your pocket knife is in the armory, in the artistry wing. I thought it fitting to put there, since it was so artistically designed.

B: Ah, damn. Well, I suppose my wallet would be the closest thing to get at the moment?

E: Indeed, although, to get to my quarters from here, we would have to cut through the study, where my brother is.

B: (Okay, voices, judgment call time. This choice can affect the entire outcome of the quest as a whole. Where do I go? The garage, and get my gun? The armory, get some shitty weapons that might be useful? Or cut through the study, and risk discovery by the big bad for my wallet?)

Narrator: Elizabeth leads Blake down the stairs. As soon as she reaches the bottom, however, Elizabeth signals for Blake to stop.

E: (Hushed tone) We're not alone, Mr. Packbornne.

N: At the end of one side of the hall, there was a hideous, mutated man. Blake saw from the corner that he must've been some sort of construction worker, but he had a hideous, tentacle like growth in place of his right arm. Listening closely, Blake heard him muttering something.

???: He comes...He comes...He comes...

Narrator: Blake turns to leave, but Elizabeth grabs his wrist. Blake stumbles back, before catching himself. Elizabeth's hand feels ice cold, and grips like a vice.

Elizabeth: (Harsh whisper) So! You would flaunt your cowardice before the lady of the mansion? You disappoint me, Mr. Packbornne. I had you pegged as a man of action. Observe.

N: Elizabeth motions toward the creature.

E: (Whisper) See here, it's facing the opposite direction, and mumbling to itself. Chances are, it wouldn't be able to hear us unless we ignored it's presence, and conversed normally. We can sneak by it relatively easily.

Narrator: Blake looks at the creature, then notices a fleshy growth covering one of the doors. It looks like human flesh, but looking closely, Blake saw that it was thick, and tough, like armor.

Blake: (Whisper) Elizabeth, what's in that room?

Elizabeth: (Whisper) Some of the artifacts that my brother and I decided not to display in the artistry wing.

N: Blake considers this for a moment, then nods.

B: Okay, you're probably right about being able to sneak past that thing. I'll lead. Let's go.

N: Blake and Elizabeth move to the other end of the hall, to the two doors that are easily accessible.

???: He comes...From the palace of tortured glass...He comes...And he waits behind the wall...For YOU, Blake Packbornne.

N: Blake stops in his tracks. The creature makes no attempt to pursue either Blake or Elizabeth.

???: He waits for you...For you will be the composer...For a song not sung...And he will sing the song that will end this Earth...You, Blake Packbornne, are the composer...And he waits for you...

Narrator: Blake considers the words of the creature for a second. Thinking he's the cause of the destruction of the world, he briefly considers suicide. Then, Elizabeth's voice rings in.

Elizabeth: Do not listen to the monster's words, Mr. Packbornne. Whatever this being is, it is of pure evil. Because of that, you cannot trust anything it says. And it will do anything to gain followers.

N: Blake hears Elizabeth mutter something about "Not reading of this..." before she keeps speaking.

E: The armory is in the Eastern part of my mansion. Keep heading that way, and you'll find yourself there. I must do research, and sneak into the study. And before you bring it up, do not concern yourself with my safety. I've survived so far without your help. Good luck, Mr. Packbornne.

N: With that, Elizabeth makes her way back to the stairs, and heads for the study.

Blake: So...What do I do now?

Since we're dead set on this armory business, better get a move on. If they need you for something, they are eventually going to try and capture you at some point, unless they plan on having you go batshit on your own. So try and avoid the crazy artifact room.

Oh, and be wary of Elizibeth, she knows more than she's saying. And is possibly a vampire. Next time you see her, remember to ask her if she likes garlic and goes to church. Either way, listen only to yourself...

A wolflike creature, with gray fur, and long horns protruding from it's shoulders. It raises itself to the size of a horse, and snarls at Blake.

The Master has some sort of obsession with a dark god that he heard about while he was overseas five years ago. I don't know the name, but for the longest time, he believed that this mansion was built over some sort of portal related to this god. I'm starting to think he was right.

He spoke of a human needed to use some sort of artifact. I don't know everything, but the Master said this artifact would open the portal. If you've been chosen, then I need to take you in. Dead or alive.

Anyway, as for this werewolf situation, clearly this is a draw. I mean, he can't see in the dark (At least not in the sense that he doesn't need some light, and it'll be pitch black when your lighter is out, right?) and with as quick a reflexes as yours are, you'll probably tell if he tries to make a move and react. He might still kill you, but who's to say you wont mortally wound him in the process. But its the same for you if you make a move. Can't you two like, agree to go your separate ways, settle this later. Neither of you is gaining anything by stalling like this. (Except you are, because, well, you're hearing voices and shit. And the longer we have to solve a problem, the more likely we are to find something that works, as proven here.)
