Only moments ago you were burning the midnight oil studying for the entrance exams. You lost track of time and now find yourself walking home in the ladder hours of the afternoon. Snow lazily drifts from the sky in a near silent crystallized serenity. Your walking mediation is broken as a tide of red blue light washes over you from a police car making a traffic stop. Though Saint Lucian is a sizeable city crime has always been minor. The knowledge chases away any thoughts of changing course. You pass the stopped car, its windows are tinted obsidian black, you fail to understand how the driver could possibly see out of such tented windows much less how it would be street legal. You pass the officer as he taps on the black window and asks for license and registration.
The next moment the door to the obsidian car is opened the officer is no longer standing where he was instead his body is embedded in the adjacent store front wall. Shots fired. Just outside the newly opened door stands a gaunt male dressed in a pin stripe suit, his short black hair greased back, and his eyes sunken as if he hadn’t slept for days. He isn’t even looking in the direction of the police car he’s looking at you, but he’s still firing a large revolver at the windshield. Your heart skips several beats you wish your legs would move yet nothing is happening. Having emptied his revolver he calmly reaches back into his suit coat holstering the weapon. His brow furrows as he closes the distance between you at a pace you can perceive pulling out a switch blade and pricking his index finger. The gaunt figure extends his finger placing it over your lips as if to shush you. A single drop of blood snakes its way through your slightly agape lips. The taste is caustic, you feel your body wanting to expel the substance but your will and body still seem disconnected. The sickening feeling slowly extinguishes giving way to a strange aftertaste, not bitter, sweet or salty but one of need, want, attraction without a target.
Again he reaches into his suit coat pocket exchanging the switch blade for something else, a small black cell phone. He throws it in a high arch towards you and your hands instinctively catch the phone before it hits the ground. “Dispose of the bodies and don’t forget to call latter tonight.” The emphasis on his words was strange but if pressed to say how you would be unable to explain. The man doesn’t bother to wait for your comprehension he simply gets back into the obsidian car and drives off.

if you are unable to leave, as in trying to take any action other then moving towards the bodies results in freezing then i guess you need to clean up. if you can move then ditch them and just go home.

Just as the gaunt figure drove off, you depart hurriedly continuing the walk home. You try to keep your gaze firmly fixed ahead but your peripheral vision gleans the copse of the other officer in the bullet riddled car, steam still flowing from the mass of holes that was previously his head. The scene weighs heavily on your soul as you push the scene aside in your mind. As you walk you realize it no longer feels cold your breath no longer generates clouds of steam. Your chocolate brown hair swishes from side to side as you shake your head chasing away such concerns with thoughts of what you still needed to do before bed until you arrive on your door step. The lights are off but that’s common for your parents to have gone to bed this late at night. You wipe your feet enter the house, take off your winter coat and boots placing them near the door and head upstairs to your room. As the door closes a piano begins to play. It’s a cheap synthetic electric moonlight sonata, the phone. The screen reads “Incoming call: Calvin de bois”

Ah, your first call on a phone handed to you by a stranger wearing stereotypical gangster attire after he performed a double homicide right in front of your eyes.

Surely nothing bad can happen if you answer said phone. Especially since you did not do the task the nice man asked you to do. It clearly has no reason to explode in your ear yet.

So answer already.

After a few notes your gloved hand presses the answer button “Hello?” A long pause as nothing is said and you hear static in the background indicative of a bad line. After a few seconds the silence breaks with the voice from earlier “I suddenly find myself free from previous obligations and thought I may have put too much on your plate. I assume you started by getting the police car off the street?” You give a hurried response “No I didn’t think to start like” and suddenly the static on the other end comes into focus. Someone is screaming. Your lips quiver as you try to continue but you’re interrupted by Calvin. “I’m trying to make a call here. I thought we agreed to gag them whenever we used the power drill.” The man’s voice paused as the screams simply grew in intensity “Ok I agree its creative but we stopped that contest last week. Yes the Archbishop won, who did you think would” the males voice lets out a few French curse words before he tries to continue the conversation with you. Trembling you simply click the call button again and throw the phone to the other side of the room. You hold the sides of you head and rock back and forth in the emptiness of your room humming ‘this is not happening to me’ over and over again. Only after hours of humming do your eyes grow heavy and you sink into sleep. Thump, Thump, someone is pounding on the door to your room. “Honey time to get up, you’ll be late for work” You scramble about getting ready as if yesterday hadn’t happened. After an expedited form of your normal morning rituals you’re out the door. You settle on a light jog to make up for lost time and soon you see the yellow white and green sign ‘Subterranean Path’. It’s not a bad job; you get free sandwiches on your lunch hour. Your shift breezes by with ease, something is different today, you talk in a nearly singsong tone and there’s a bounce in your step. On your lunch hour you sit happily nibbling on a veggie sandwich as you thumb through a book when a shadow is cast over the page. You look up to see a white male with a buzzcut in his 20’s smile at you and say “Hi, I’m max.”

"Oh. Hello. I'm Jamie." But say it more singsong-y than usual.

Then stare awkwardly back smiling until he says something else or leaves you to enjoy your sammich and book combo meal.

Max smirks at your request and continues “You’ll have to excuse me it’s not a very technical term. You see, people have rabbits grass and sun. In a normal person the rabbits and the grass exist in a normal state of homeostasis. Yet when you introduce wolves into the system something inexorably changes in the rabbits. They get scared and eat more grass than is sustainable and breed at an amazing rate. This in turn leads to an explosion in the population in the wolves. A wolf unfortunately doesn’t have much since so it eats as many rabbits as possible. Soon there are not enough rabbits to support the wolf population and a great number starve allowing the rabbits to replenish their population thus restarting the cycle. In most people the extremes of this cycle are close to each other, the population of wolves and rabbits stays close to a constant number. Now for some the swing of the cycle is too great. The wolves manage to eat all the rabbits leaving nothing for them to eat. Personally I don’t like working with those kind, they’re far too cold. On the other hand sometimes the wolves eat too many rabbits but on their down swing are unable to catch any and die off of starvation. The rabbits in this situation still aren’t the same. They eat and multiply until they kill off the grass. These people burn very bright but without the grass to talk to the sun grows angry and that is the end of that person. You have a very eccentric cycle, your populations of rabbits and wolves large but stop just short of catastrophe. It’s not common yet not unheard of.”

Max’s expression shifts to a wash of confusion and amusement. His eyes fixate on Jamie as if he’s wondering if she’s playing him for a fool then simply shrugs. “To my knowledge there is no known way of planting new grass. It’ll be interesting if you find a way but that’s beyond the business at hand. Fields of grass bunnies and wolves have another common problem. The blood of a vampire is very useful to most fields but it inherently comes with a downside. Your field will in less than a week use up all of that blood. You’ll need and want more soon. If you want to stop playing around you can give me or Calvin a call.” Max places a business card on the table with a phone number on it. The card is plain black and white and bears the image of a lawn mower. After that Max stands and leaves the Subterranean Path sandwich shop.

So many weird, creepy new people are suddenly interested in your life. And apparently he's good buddies with your new bestest friend in the whole world Calvin. Always a good sign.

I agree with >>255729
None of that madness made sense at all. So, silently pocket the card, push all that insanity babble out of your noggin, wrap up your meal and continue on with the rest of your day.

...As best you can, of course. Based on past records, some other strange event will crop up shortly in your life.

[Experiencing Vampire Blood Withdraw/Close to Frenzy]
Despite the overt link Max has to Calvin, Jamie still felt like she was atop the world. She simply shrugged it off, ate her sandwich and finished the workday. Beyond Max’s interruption Jamie’s life seemed to simply resume for a period of time. Sure things were different, colors seemed sharper, she started conversations with pure strangers, eating a good meal felt like a mild form of masturbation. Yet her mind was still too clouded by bliss to care why life felt so wonderful, Jamie simply embraced it. The emotional high didn’t last forever. It was five days later on a Monday, the day of the college entrance exam. The room was a sickening off white everything was washed in a hazy industrial lighting. The room was filled with chairs and desks arranged in a grid ten by five, each desk with a student. The proctor for the test stood at the front of the windowless dull room droning endlessly on rules concerning the test until finally she instructed the room to begin. Jamie stared down at the stack of papers atop her desk as her hand began to tremble. Jamie’s eyes darted franticly as she tried to identify the feeling. Her brow rose when it dawned on her. She could feel it deep inside her blood, the absence. Her body had completely metabolized the vampire blood and she felt the dire need for more. During Jamie’s panic the proctor cleared her voice and asked “May I help you?” The tone and inflection were pointed and sharp she looked ready to kick Jamie out of the test.

Jamie asked the question without leaving the proctor time to respond before she had dashed out the door. She dashed down flights of stairs and across city sidewalks and streets at a pace normally reserved for Olympic athletes. Into her house and up to her room she slammed the door. Fumbling through boxes in the back of her closet she produced a set of handcuffs, a memento from her X. Jamie quickly snapped one end to her bed frame and another to her wrist. Despite standing still her heart beat seemed to only increase the whole world around her seemed to pulse at the ever increasing beat. It’s out of sync, no not out of sync someone is knocking on the door. The world washes with a warm red as events blur. The storm subsides, Jamie is covered in blood, the hallways are covered in blood, the door to her room is missing and the remains of her parents lay on the floor. Part of Jamie’s bed frame lay liberated from her bed, the metal and wood still handcuffed to her arm. Despite the carnage she still felt her gilt overcome by the still present need.

this... this is bad. uhhhh, call 911, give them your address and then just start running until you can't run anymore.

Well, so much for college. You'll be able to retake it some other time when you're more stable, right? Oh, but it appears you have more pressing matters to worry about.

Personally, I'd just recommend doing the last suggestion from >>256114
Letting the scene be discovered gives you more time to sort things out before any missing or wanted posters go up everywhere. And calling 911 yourself just seems kinda pointless with that in mind. There's nothing they can do to save your parents, and the call would just bring more attention to you sooner. The more time you have to sort everything out, the better.

So, first of all, clean yourself up and change into less bloody clothes. Then make a frantic call to Calvin as you hastily pack up a bunch of personal belongings and easily-pawnable items; clothing, money, jewelry, portable electronics, etc. Screech "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!" in your most pained voice ever when he picks up.

Don't forget to stash your bloody clothes in a (black, if at all possible,) garbage bag and bring them along as well for now. Can't leave them here. Would just shorten the time between now and having your face plastered everywhere if you did. Maybe break and upturn some things as well when you're done packing. Make it look like a botched robbery and possible kidnapping. And THEN run.
