The day started out fairly stressful. Your commute to classes was overly long and you're currently stuck in your college bookstore, waiting in line for your books. On the plus side they have the T.V. Tuned to CNN who is currently reporting on a series of strange lights that have been seen for the past few weeks over all major cities and a series of rolling blackouts, and satellite crashes. It is about this time your Black berry beeps.

The message you receive is ominous. Four simple words that make your body shiver and suddenly want to fly to the shelves and grab whatever you can hold.

YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES.

tis fine. That being said back to the shooooow!

You awake with a dull thud and a jolt through your body as you impact the ground. No longer groggy you already can feel sweat forming on your forehead. The air is strangely thick, almost syrupy and makes you feel slightly light headed.

get out the gauze from the first aid kit and wrap it around your mouth so it filters the moisture.

You quickly pull out a small roll of gauze and wrap a strip around your mouth and face. this has the unfortunate effect of causing yet more sweat to form where its touching. As your eyes come to terms with being exposed to a rather bright sun, you slowly realize how far from kansas you probably are....The plants( if you can call them that) Are red and yellow, strangely colored compared to what you know. All around you see people waking up next to neatly stacked piles of gear. As you scan around you spot yours a few feet away, neatly piled and waiting for you.

the gear is easily stowed in your hoody, pot and backpack.

From looking about you realize that you're out in a rather hilly area. rolling hills seem to be quite common and the 'grass', a wiry mat of fibrous yellow plant life seems to be scorched from something. The soil beneath it is quite rocky however and is filled with small stones and pebbles as well rich dark loam.

quite generic. how dreadful.

check the blackberry. if no reception nor GPS link, turn it off and disconnect the battery, we may be able to turn it into a electric lighter.

then look at everyone. leadership must come naturally, if noone has anything to say, ask for everyone to gather around and ask for main jobs.

sadly the black berry seems to actually be quite dead and refuses to even turn on for you. A quick check makes you realize that many of the people gathered seemed to be still only just barely conscious. However, one man seems to be getting them up and moving about. He's dressed in a gray sweater and seems to be about forty. Barrel shaped his face covered in sweat a pair of glasses along with a salt and pepper beard.

Noticing that you are now actually moving he strides over to you and waves from a few feet away.

"hello! How're you doing?" he begins in a jovial tone.

greet him, introduce yourself to everyone and listen for awhile.

if noone seems to have any topic to the current situation, ask about the apparently burned grass, if the sun is rising or not, where we can find shelter and possibly why we are here.

The man shrugs at your inquiries.

"In all honesty, not a clue. I've been here a few hours and saw a big flash from a couple hills to what we're calling East. By the time I got here I spotted you guys." He explains with a shrug. "If you're looking for shelter well, we managed to locate some its not the best in the world but it certainly beats being outside around here."

He shifts from one foot to the other leaning his wieght onto his left instead of his right.

'Either way if you had to call its a time its about midday which means we've got like eight hours till sunset. Names John Grackham by the way. Whats yours friend?"

The man nods as your name.
"A good name, mind if I call you Chuck?" he says cheerfully as he helps you with your gear. "Well for a place to stand. You may as well follow me back to the main site. Some of the other will be along shortly. If you're looking for a vantage point we've got on though its a tad messy at the moment."

Hefting the pot filled with canned goods the man motions for you to follow him. Cresting the hills are several more figures all of them stripped down to the waist and wearing hats. Their bodies are covered in sweat and bottles of water hang from strips of rope at their sides.

John shrugs.

"Right now, we're still getting a head count. Last I heard theres over two hundred people within just where I landed and it looks like another fifty or so right here." He makes a gesture towards the men coming down the hill. "As for the matter of civilization, I don't know about that, we're just trying to round up everyone before things get out of control. We've already ran into things that I guess, you could call dragons."

As you follow along you're body cries for cooling, the shirt underneath your hoody is soaked in sweat and you chest feels like its sitting inside a furnace. However as you crest the hill you scarecly notice such trivial things as you spot what looks to be a vast ruined city stretching out in near distance. Already you can see curls of smoke rising from the dilapidated structures and beyond the ancient edifice you can make out a hazy outline of what looks like mountains.

You pull the hoody off asking from within its rather warm sweat soaked confines if theres anything you can do to help.

Jack merely shrugs.
"Well, some guy managed to take down the...um...dragons.We're working on a name right now really. But yeah, once we get down into the main camp I'd say offer up and help carry and preserve what we can off the things. They're big enough that it should be at least a few more days till we have to really worry about food again."

As you walk through the fields of reddish colored plants you can't help but to be glad for being free of the hoody. Even without it the heat is incredible. Thankfully at least there is a cool breeze coming down from the mountains.

ask about weather at night.

is there a map of the surroundings already? if not, ask around for directions and make one.

we may need to begin working on a tent for us. since it seems we have a foothold of some sort, we should look for friends and workmates taht could help us with that.living together will make this less insane.

hurr.

find their potable water fountain and where everyone makes their needs and shower.

if the water source is too close from the "toilets", we may need some major overhauling to prevent mass diahea.

Go to palace, stake claim.

At least get a room in one of the tower thingies
>>
No. 232953 ID: 0a805d

jack shrugs at the question.

"its hot and humid. Honestly reminds me of the time I went to Costa Rica. All you did there was sweat and drink." he explains as you slowly begin to work your way down onto the town or rather ruins.

All around you ancient stone structures half-stand half lean upon each other. their monolithic forms staring at you with dark windows even as voices bound and echo within its winding expanses for the first time in what must be centuries.

"If you're looking for a place to stay I staked a claim at one of the bigger buildings. The roof isn't all that great but, its got a pretty dry basement if you don't mind sharing it with me and a couple of the other old timers." he explains as he gestures towards a group of men working something easily fifteen feet long and rather mean looking.

"Till night rolls back around I'd suggest checking with those guys. They're butchering up the dragons and are gonna need the most help. Ill be in the courtyard a few blocks over helping check in all the supplies that are being offered up for the community."

233120

As you walk through the ruined structures you constantly are running into people bustling about who, for the most part are being rather pleasent. As you draw near where Jack told you to go you can't help but to resist the urge of bile rising in your gut. The Stench of raw meat and gallons of blood makes your inside churn even as you hear the dull THWACK WHACK THWACK of people hacking apart the two monstrous beats laying on the ground.

Also, a crappy map till I can get some real time to work on it.

I don't think so. It seems that they just found the place so I don't think they have anything but shelter.

im pretty sure this is the sequel to the first island.

im also pretty sure they would have quite a developed organization since they are working in professions and arent squabbling among each other for resources or sweet spots.

we should ask the man for a leader/mayor and check shit out like what we can do to earn our worth.

also, what are our personal skills again?

Never decided on. Also, its the spiritual successor. The squabbling will come soon enough don't you worry.

As you wander around trying to pick a good spot you run into a man holding what appears to be a cage full of chickens. His haggard face has a small smile on it as he sets done his noisy cargo.

"Looks like you missed all the fun." he begins gesturing towards the rancid mess that you just came from. " Hell of a show though."

The man with the chickens shrugs.

"I was hiding at the time. Should have seen them go at it though they were tearing the hell out of each other then, WHAM. A single damned gunshot and one of them hit the ground like a sack of bricks. The other bit it shortly after either from a bullet or from the injuries it had gotten in the scuffle." He explains as he motions towards the stinking masses of now dead meat."As for that light well, no idea to be honest, Just happened after I got that crazy message and I blacked out for a bit. The next time I came to, I was here."

Offering up the pot you quickly are directed to nearby water source. It seems several of the structures were built to tap into underground water supplies. The building you enter is covered in a thin layer of moisture and in its center is a small pool that seems to be welling up from the ground. As you dip the pot into the rather cool, clear water you feel something supple and slimy brush against your hand....

You quickly back peddle away as something slowly begins to lurch from the water. Several long rubbery tentacles stretch and curl from the top of the body as four muscular feet that simply Squish and flatten against the hard wet ground haul the four foot diameter thing from the pool. Its body is covered in a hard shell with opening for where the muscular bits poke free. Its face is a bit like a crabs and four dark glittering eyes peer at you.

For a few moments it sits still and then slowly begins to crawl towards the door as a dozen or so smaller versions each with maybe a foot long begin to creep out of the water scuttling around it bulk.

Pot in hand, you stand directly in the direction it is heading.

as if in agreement it lazily waves one of the tentacles and promptly crawls through the doorway into the sun. The resulting screams and shouts echoing through the area as the troupe of...tentacled...turtle...things makes their way out in lieu of you.

The yells die down for a second and quickly are resumed as the cluster of strange creatures make their way through the area. the noise finally draws your attention and you realize they are making their way towards the masses of recently killed flesh, tentacles waving eagerly.

you scramble quickly from the structure, dropping your pot with a rather loud CLANG. Hurrying you manage to find a rather rotted piece of wood that you hope can be used to deter the creatures from your freshly earned larder.

As you race into their way, they begin to slow and finally stop. The largest of them standing before waving its tentacles in the air eagerly as its black eyes stare at you, or, more likely look for a way around you.

The smaller ones however, care little for your antics and simply scurry between your legs and around you, racing towards the large piles of fresh food.

Carefully you reach into your pack. you see amongst your belongings what looks like a cliffbar, pulling it quickly out and unwrapping the tasty morsel you lob it at the creature, It stares at you as it lands by...you believe they are feet.

A tentacle gingerly snakes down and scoops the bar up shoving it into the beasts mouth.

Moments pass it thoughtfully tastes and tests the quality of the meal you have presented it before finally it gives something that may in fact have been a shrug. It slowly begins to turn away heading towards the chamber which it had just left.
