((Notice: Art may or may not happen.))

The date is 3001. Mankind has conquered the Sol system, terraforming every planet in the system with the sole exception of mercury, whose heat is used as a massive power plant and robotic construction facility. Earth is highly overpopulated, and Mars is essentially the 'New Earth'. Circling Mars are several satellites, one of which you work at.

This is Ergo 4, one of many tourist satellites. Tourist satellites are for those who want to view a planet and its trappings without actually making landfall, and also serve as entertainment centers for the rich and powerful. Most have the same design: A central hub for employees about the size of two or three houses that holds technological necessities and surveillance equipment, A ring around this that comprises the main body, and the docking ports at either end of the 'hub'.

Being the Chief of Security, you work and live in the center of the satellite with your young daughter. Each employee lives here, either seasonally or year-round. It doesn't hurt that the job pays well.

Tourist season is generally in the planet's spring/fall season, so as to maximize the beauty of it for prospective landowners. Currently, you are several months away from uptime, and preparations are hasty.

You awaken after a massive tremor shakes your home. You fall out of your bed and onto the floor, tangled in sheets.

Your name is JOHNATHAN TOWER. You are about THIRTY YEARS OF AGE and AVERAGE LOOKING. You are currently UNINJURED, and in GOOD HEALTH.
You are in YOUR ROOM in your ABODE.

Something seems wrong... what do you do?

Thankfully, your RUBBER BULLET SMALL PISTOL is not in your sheets. That would be dangerous! It is instead stored in a lockbox under your bed. You open it and...

Er, you get dressed, then place it in your BELT HOLSTER.

You decide the best bet would be to check on the status via the security station located kitty-corner to your bedroom, when the lights flicker out with a low whine and the emergency lighting clicks on. Hm.

The automatic door to the security room is not opening, despite being rigged to run on secondary power stores in case of emergency. The panel is still powered, and you decide to instead utilize that.

Hrm. After entering the command for a system check, it appears that not all of the systems may be analysed due to low power.

I query quickly. This seems to be something of an emergency. Hm. Seems to you that some sort of impact wrecked an important system. Either that, or like the door, it was tampered with... and holy shit atmosphere is dropping. Not good at all.

You bring up the map and compel it to load faster.

The map loads. You know from experiance that the survivability of each area is determined by color code. It seems that Storage is likely to be the area hit by whatever impacted you, and the damage might have spread to Munitions. Meanwhile, Entertainment and Housing are only suffering from a slow loss of atmosphere, due to the low power.

Seal off the central habitats. Then get a vacum suit and start checking up the red areas to assess how bad the damage is.

QUERY: Door bypass

We need to get into security and start overriding doors. Seal all the bulkheads, and only open them while you're passing through. Some people are going to die, and we need to maximize the number of survivors.

You first attempt to find other living humans, but the function is offline. Despite it being a part of the camera system. Huh. You move onto other queries, finding marginal success at best: At the very least, the damage will be slowed between sections.

It's a small blessing that there are few people here, mostly maintenence crew, trainees, and the like.

As soon as you finish the set of queries, the maintenence hatch to Systems opens beside the panel, in the wall.

Something is bothering you. Your daughter should be awake by now... or should have awoken during the tremor.

LOGOUT.

We need to go check on her, and then get to a part of the station where we can do something about the atmosphere loss in Entertainment, and especially Housing. Getting security on Munitions would be a nice goal, as well.

After making a note that you are investigating the situation and would like reports, you log out of the system and turn to check your daughter's room. You're not a detective, merely a security guard, so you're uncertain what to make of things.
...
She's not in her room. There's no sign of struggle, but... There is a rather distinct set of marks on one wall. Like tracks? But these walls are pretty well reinforced...

You sit on the bed and stare at them considering your options and priorities.

First, you need to combat the loss of atmosphere in all quadrants. To do that, you need to go to Environ Control, which is above the central area. Systems is beneath it, next door to Shuttles.

Secondly, you need to see who is still alive. You know the Security Operator, the one who veiws the cameras, lives inside the security station. However, the door was sealed, which is troubling. Further, you know there is a set of trainees for Entertainment who came in last week, mostly waitresses and the like. And then there's Ted, the janitor, who's always been here.

...

What will you do first?

It should be SOP for the security door to seal in the event of major event like this.
Try to raise SecOp on the comm system. The only plausible reason for comm failure would be enemy action.
Is EnvCon capable of responding to hull breaches? Head there if it is, but if not then you want to go to Systems.

Go to the environ control. Have to make sure all the air isn't vented out into space.

And don't worry about Ted, he's the janitor. Nothing will bring him down.
