You bring Mira with you, since you can't leave her alone, and showing her the value of magic in action sounds beneficial!

Mira takes in the sights on the journey. She seems to still be open to NEW EXPERIENCES right now. She is still HAPPY, but complains that her Shift is not good for traveling in. We will need to get her more outfits.

>RED KINGDOM info
The RED KINGDOM is most famous for its annual GLADIATORIAL TOURNAMENT, where people fight until one or the other is reduced below 20% of their max HP.The RED KINGOM's heroes are mostly WARRIOR class (PURPLE KINGDOM is mostly WIZARDs). For all intents and purposes, however, RED CITY is identical to PURPLE CITY. So, you can have your daughter pick up part time work, or you can head out into the woods and adventure, or some other thing.

best way to make kids pick what you want them to is be highly supportive of their independence. it has only a 5% chance of them picking something else, compared to telling them to pick something just because you tell them to which has an 80% of them being contrary just to spite you.

so say 'i'd like it if you were a wizard like dear ol dad but i would be okay with anything you pick because i love you.' and then tell her how that until she get's a 'party', as adventuring groups are called, you will show her the ropes of adventuring. she will decide when she wants to try one, when she thinks she is ready. when you go you will stay back and let her try to go through it herself. if her HP get's too low or if she says a safe word then you will step in and assist her, but be warned that you will both leave if you have to step in and wait until after she trains some more.

We head off to the Yellow Kingdom for the Science Contest. I am not very good at it, so we simply watch. She seems interested, but confused as to why they need all those big things. Mira asks me why I don't need big things to do my stuff. I tell her that that is what Magic is best for. She says Magic sounds cool.

While here, I get her a Science teacher, and she goes to class for a month. She has already studied magic for two months with you, and after her month of Chemistry she tells you it is very interesting, but her teacher's beard isn't as cool as yours. Mira says when she grows up she wants a beard like yours.

[[ The character classes' names are pretty self explanatory, I think, so I won't go in to too much detail about them. Wizards do magic, Chemists do science, Warriors do fighting technique, Berserkers do strong and tough, and Rangers do bows. ]]

[[ Any lessons that Wizard Toadstool can not teach, he will hire a teacher for. This doesn't really cost any different than him teaching himself, but requires he go to a country that has such teachers. ]]

But she can learn a little bit of everything else on the side. After all, wizards are supposed to be very knowledgeable, and she's got a little bit of a head start on magic since we're her teacher, the GREAT WIZARD TOADSTOOL, SLAYER OF SATAN HIMSELF.

>Teach her magic until she becomes a level 1 WIZARD
11 Months pass...

Mira has mastered her first spell, PURPLE FIREBALL LVL1, and is now officially a wizard! It was a stressful 10 months, and Mira almost wanted to quit, so you took a vacation for a month somewhere in there. Now that Mira has seen the fruits of her labor, she is HAPPY once more.

During this time, she reached her first birthday! Mira is now 11 years old! You had forgotten to get her a present...

>Mira has become fond of BOOKS and MAGIC and FRIENDSHIP during her first year. These will form the core of her personality. She has become a bit RECLUSIVE...
>Mira's eyesight has begun to fade from all her reading! She will need new glasses every year, starting at age 12.
>Mira is now old enough to work! She can take jobs to help support paying for her education.
>In addition to her magical studies, Mira has learned a little bit of everything. She has a passing interest in LITERATURE, SCIENCE, and POETRY.

You set up a magnificent plan of getting her some more FRIENDS and some more BOOKS. You begin by returning to the Yellow Kingdom for the first time in a year, to look for an apprentice level CHEMIST. One such person is found, and her father agrees to let her go adventuring with you, but only if you keep a close eye on the both of them the entire time.

MIRA TOADSTOOL, WIZARD APPRENTICE has now gained the ally SALLY EASTON, CHEMIST APPRENTICE. They may adventure and/or study together!
>In order to study together, you need to travel to your ally's home kingdom. To adventure together, you must either adventure in their kingdom or spend one extra week in advance per ally before adventuring, so you can gather your allies. Tl;dr, you need some initial funding if you are going adventuring with a group.

Sally Easton, Age 11
>Apprentice CHEMIST. CHEMISTs create potions and machines to aid them in combat.
>Has taken an interest in FORESTRY, EXPLORATION, and HERBALISM from her time in the GREEN KINGDOM
>Is outgoing and tomboyish

But now we are out of cash. You could probably find a job for Mira somewhere in town, maybe as a cleaning girl or a tutor, since she is pretty bright. However, you yourself are getting too old to work - having turned 73 last week and not very physically fit to begin with, anything that doesn't require blasting is mostly beyond your capability nowadays.

The other option is to go adventuring in the DESERT here in the Yellow Kingdom, but with only an apprentice Wizard and an apprentice Chemist, it could be dangerous...

They could probably handle adventuring in the desert for a short while, but after some debate, you decide that it'd be too dangerous, and you probably wouldn't get enough treasure to make up for it. Instead, it is job time for Mira!

You get her a cleaning job at a local inn, and you yourself get a tutoring job at the local college. However, most people here in Yellow Kingdom are interested in science, so you aren't very in demand...

After a month of this, you now have enough money to last you one more month of traveling/studying. This is enough time to take Sally with you if you want to attempt to recruit someone else from another kingdom for adventuring, but you would need to adventure in that kingdom then.

While here, you have stayed with YELLOW CHEMIST. Mira and Sally have become good friends! Mira has picked up some additional Science knowledge from the time they have spent together.

The Forest and the Mountains are the best places for beginners, so heading to the Red Kingdom sounds like a plan! We meet the Red Warrior, and introduce Sally and Mira to his son, Flint Antandansen. Sally gets along with him pretty okay, but Mira seems shy...

Flint Antandansen, Age 13
>Novice WARRIOR. WARRIORs are experts with sword and shield, and use melee skill to defeat their enemies.
>Has taken an interest in HUNTING and COOKING from his time in the BLUE KINGDOM
>Is stoic and strong

But after Sally gets injured from a surprise attack from a centaur, you end up going a bit overboard.

You retreat afterwards, and divide the spoils amongst Mira, Sally, and Flint equally. You have gained enough money for the next 3 months, as well as a FAIRY WAND! You also found Fairy Nectar and a Goblin Hammer, but gave those to Sally and Flint, respectively.

Your Staff of Asmodeus is slightly better than the Fairy Wand, so you have no use for it, but Mira should find it useful. Although, her birthday is coming up in a few months, and she doesn't need to know you found it NOW...

Sally's health is more important than learning how to befriend opponents into greasy stains on the wall. If we don't have a means to heal her now, apply bandages and make your way back to town.

Let's use our detached wizardly wiles to turn this into a practical learning experience about how to deal with wounds out in the wilderness, and to ere on the side of caution whenever possible.

You give a brief explanation on how to deal with wounds mid combat, and make sure to mention to Mira that if she had been on her own with Sally, she'd have needed to fight off the minotaur before rushing to Sally's side, so that she didn't end up hurt too. Then you apologize because you don't actually know much first aid, but you know enough to patch her up.

Then, the party retreats from the forest, and you make sure nothing bothers the kids. You have Flint carry Sally to a cleric's temple, and for half a month's gold, she is healed to perfect health. These places are kind of pricey, but they are useful for avoiding complications. Chemist Easton can't complain about her getting hurt now, since we healed her out of our own pocket.

>Do we have a means to heal people?
Sally does! But none of us knows which of her potions do what, and some of them explode. So you don't risk it. If Mira learns more Science, she might be able to decipher the potion labels.

You then drop off Flint and Sally. You have enough money for 2 more months, and are currently in the Yellow Kingdom. What shall we do from here? It might be good to get Mira some more studies, or we could take this chance to visit the other kingdoms.

You decide to keep the Fairy Wand a secret, and give it to her as a birthday present when her birthday rolls around in MID SPRING.

Magical... healing? Magic is for making big flashy explosions, not healing! That is what Chemists do. Lame lame Chemists.

After talking with Mira about it, she decides she wants to learn to be able to learn some Chemistry so she can use/eventually make healing potions. Chemist Easton says he is willing to take in Mira as a student. She'd stay here with Sally. Since you are a friend, he'll teach her for a discount - 2 months' worth of money will get her 3 months' worth of teaching.

Do you take him up on this offer? You would have to return to your tower and spend the next three months without her (not to mention miss her birthday in Mid Spring), but Mira seems enthusiastic...

Perhaps we should look into transferring magical power a bit later. Right now, Mira doesn't have the control over her own power, and we're not done with our run yet.

Now would be the best time for magical training, right after the tournament. Try to get the bases covered for the next level of magic, then take a vacation to GREEN KINGDOM. Not only will we make connections, but it'll give Mira some free time in the woods.

>two weeks of magic training, a week of vacation, and a final week of any subject, class, or job she'd like.
[[ Gameplay is handled in Months in order to speed this up. ]]

You spend the next month on Vacation at the ocean with Mira, to relax a bit after all the tournamenting.

The next 2 months are spent studying magic, and the 3 months (for the cost of 2 months) after that are spent studying Chemistry with Easton - Mira's choice.

The vacation has done you well, and you don't feel as tired anymore. You should probably take it easy, regardless.

>Confer with Easton in secret about a power transferal potion and/or immortality
Easton says he can indeed do a power transferal potion, but it will take a year to prepare... and he'd need to take all of your power up front. This is not something to be considered lightly, and the potion may have some side effects even if done correctly. He says you should really let Mira learn on her own, rather than try to cheat her into power, and should take your time considering the full implications here.

Easton also says that Chemists have been searching for immortality for centuries. You will hear about it when they find it.

>Mira's birthday is coming up in 3 months. Mira has been overall happy lately, but seems a bit stressed from all the study. Sally has become a Novice Chemist.

----------

Now would probably be a good time to explain the mechanics behind the Class system.

Entering a class is the hardest part: It takes 12 months of total training to become an Apprentice level, and then 6 months of training per rank of advancement. The ranks are:

Apprentice -> Novice -> Talented -> Superb -> Master

Mira can train in Wizard by spending time with her father, and she can train in other classes by spending time with the appropriate teacher from a different kingdom. Other kinds of study may have other, unforeseen benefits, as well.

Mira's progress:
Chemist: 9 months. Rank: None.
Warrior: 0 months. Rank: None.
Wizard: 14 months. Rank: Apprentice.

Sounds like Mira can use a break from all that studying. A month in Green Kingdom would be a nice vacation, and give her a chance to apply what she's learned from her studies about forestry. She might be able to make friends, too.

This might be a good idea, though, it might be best to do this as a 'Vacation'. Mira is getting stressed out from all the work.

Otherwise, I say we continue training her in magic and chemistry, get her up to apprentice in chemistry and novice in magic, since she's already so close to advancing to the next step in both areas.

Mira should split the studying between chemistry and magic at least until she ranks up in each. Work in a months worth of each over the next three months, with a break every so often. When she studies chemistry, perhaps she should train along side Sally. Less stressful with good company. Plus they can hang out together on her birthday.

Oh and get her something nice for her birthday. Maybe a nice outfit, possibly enchanted for defense or just comfort. A purple robe with gold trim perhaps, to represent her secondary studies.

Are there many who become proficient in both Magic and Chemistry? Perhaps Mira will find a way to synergize the two into something different, let's call it Alchemy.

Power transfer is definitely not something to be taken lightly, but it is good to know that it can be taken at all. Maybe someday, when Mira is older and she's already come into her own power. But not today.

Today, maybe we should look at a trip to the Green Kingdom. See what she thinks of things there, and if she has any interest in learning of their ways.

She can go to the Blue Kingdom when she's older.

Then Mira spends the next two months studying Magic, up until her birthday! You get her a lovely new robe for her birthday. She says she loves it, and hugs you tightly. You fear for your health.

Mira has reached age 13!
>Mira has remained fond of BOOKS and MAGIC and POTIONS. She is still SHY AROUND BOYS. She hes decided she wants to become a CHEMIST/WIZARD MULTICLASS.
>Mira's eyesight has deteriorated further! You get her new glasses, identical to the old ones.
>Mira is old enough for the following jobs: Tutor, Cleaner, Church, Babysitting, Farmer, and Restaurant.
>Class Progress: 2 more months to become a Novice Wizard! 3 more months to become a Apprentice Chemist!

So you then send her off for 3 months with Easton. Mira is now an APPRENTICE CHEMIST/APPRENTICE WIZARD! She can make Explosive potions and Healing potions now!

But you should probably do something about the money situation while she is out for those three months. That past year really flew by - you only have enough for 2 months after she gets back.

>During the following, Mira spent 3 months at Easton's and became an Apprentice Chemist. After returning, she spent 2 months doing Wizardry studies/a Restaurant job. The lack of free time from the studies/job combo has made her quite stressed out. The adventuring should help. On the upside, it means no money was lost.

While she is out at Easton's, you take care of a few things. You spend the first month tutoring for additional cash, and then head out to Red Kingdom and Green Kingdom to recruit Flint and William for an adventure with Mira in Mid Winter. Their parents agree to this, but wonder where we will be meeting. When you go to pick up Mira from Easton, you will ask Sally to join you as well.

Which Adventure Site do we want to adventure at? Mira will be a Novice Magician and an Apprentice Chemist when we go, and the other students will also be Novice/Apprentice multiclass. The higher the difficulty, the better the treasure, but the better chance of danger.

YELLOW Desert: Moderate

Go with them this time, but give them a little more freedom in their actions. Do not let yourself be entirely in charge, outside of situations that could be unmistakably out of their league. When you reach the ruins, set up a support camp, and remain there while they adventure. Use whatever means necessary to keep in contact with them, however.

Also.. we must consider getting her another teacher for Magic. You are powerful, but seem to be a bit specialized when it comes to using that magic. If we find her a second teacher with a different focus, perhaps less destructive powers, our little Mira can only benefit.

Also, encourage her to apply Science to Magic, and vice-versa in her personal studies.

I agree. Try to prod the kiddies into making their own decisions, don't let them nudge you into the role of leader. Hang around in the background, unless they're clearly about to make a mistake (They should be alright, they arn't stupid) or are overmatched, in which cases you should step forward, preferably in a fashion that only evens the odds instead of completely bailing them out. For example, if they're trying to solve a puzzle, and they have the wrong answer, mention that they might not have the right one, and perhaps provide a hint, or maybe debuffing a really dangerous opponent so they can take it down themselves.

173214

As fun as it would be, I think hiding would set a poor example. For instance, if we don't tell them we're keeping an eye on them, and reveal ourselves and help out, later, they might think that you're doing so when you really arn't, and act recklessly while trusting to a power that isn't there. Nightmare scenario, they do something stupid thinking you'll bail them out, and pray for you to reveal yourself and help them when.... Bad things happen.

I'm just saying be around for a Life Death situation where you take them back. Then come up with a bad excuse of scrying and teleporting.
Or give them a fake item to use that calls you, but as an emergency beacon (eg: we use, you take us out before we become something's dinner)

Realistically, We save them and monitor how they work. It'll keep them from dying, and will also give an insight to how Mira acts when not under supervision.

Why yes! You have your handy dandy Scrying Crystal! With this, you can spy on people from afar! It does not work in bathrooms, and seems to have a maximum range of no more than a few miles. You can't actually communicate with the person on the other end, but you can hear what they are saying.

You (meaning mostly William) set up a camp outside the Ruins. Mira seems worried that you aren't coming in with them, but you tell her that if she needs help, she should just yell out for you and you will be there as soon as you can.

And considering we defeated Satan, supervision will be easy. (this guy probably will want our guidance too)

The rest of the dungeon goes normally enough. The party ends up running into a mummy lord, and deciding they can't take on such a powerful creature, flees. It seems like Mira still isn't quite used to boys, judging by her reaction once they get out.

On the upside, the party has made off with a decent sum of treasure. After dividing it four ways, Mira has obtained enough gold to last for the next 7 months. With the gold you already had, this makes your current treasury 10 months worth of gold.

In addition, Mira has obtained Skeleton Dust! It seems like it can be burned up in a spell to boost that spell's performance. Her adventuring completed, you drop everyone off in their kingdoms, then return home. Mira's birthday is 2 months away.

You and Mire spend the next month studying up on Cultists together. You find that they are one of many different Alternate Classes - Mira's WIZ class would be replaced by CLT if she takes him up on his offer. This would change her skillset from Fire, Ice, and Thunder magic to Darkness, Necromancy, and Drain magic. It sounds like she'd lose her direct blasting capabilities, the ones you are oh so fond of, in exchange for a wide variety of less direct magic.

It seems there are 4 more Alternate Classes out there in the world, one for each area. If you want to learn what class is offered in a particular place, it takes 2 months of study on the area, or only 1 month if you have discovered the class change offered to the area already.

For her birthday, you get her an advanced chemistry set! She loves it and says she will put it to good use.

>You can now learn Chemistry from home!
>7 months worth of gold remaining.

Mira has reached age 14!
>Mira has remained fond of BOOKS and MAGIC and POTIONS. She is still SHY AROUND BOYS.
>Mira's eyesight has deteriorated! You get her new glasses, identical to the old ones.
>Mira is capable of taking the following jobs: Tutor, Cleaner, Church, Babysitting, Farmer, Restaurant, and Researcher.
>Class Progress: 6 more months of Wizardry to become a Talented Wizard! 6 more months of Chemistry to become a ???!

>Researcher
This sounds like an excellent option, do this. Chemical, magical or otherwise, it will only help studies.

>6 more months of Chemistry to become a ???!
Oh is that some hybrid classing results? Nice. Lets progress with a combination of research work, chemistry, and time off. Just so that we reach that class upgrade point without nothing but constant study.

We should also make sure she becomes more sociable though, how about we take her to the Purple Kingdom Castle to let her visit once in a while? Maybe get some training in how to deal with people better? I'm sure the king likes us well enough for that.

I think we'll avoid the Cultist job switch. That ???! sounds fascinating though.

Let's study Chemistry for 3 months then take a vacation in the Blue Kingdom to see what that's all about.

William might be the best bet if you want her to be less shy around boys. Since he's interested in purple kingdom's stuff I think, you can invite him occasionally or at least have a better chance than Flint.

Also, I think maybe Mira should spend time socializing around purple kingdom. There has to be some fun and interesting people here!

The bardling could well be good for helping her be more sociable... but being also a ranger and an elf, maybe the castle isn't his sort of social thing. Still it could be healthy for them to hang out together a bit even if they don't get along swimmingly right now.

And maybe she can hang with Flint too, later. Maybe he can help her get into an exercise regimen or something, earn her a few more HP.

You spend the next several months doing a wide variety of things. First off, you have Mira study Chemistry for 3 months, as well as work as a research assistant at the local magical college. Mira begins to get stressed by the heavy workload, but makes good money - the researcher job covers those 3 months as well as another 2 months. In addition, she met a cute researcher there and will not stop talking about him. Unfortunately, she hasn't yet talked TO him, either.

>Mira has discovered boys! She is still very shy, however...

To calm her down, you spend the next month on vacation in the Blue Kingdom, meeting Lizzy and her father, Berserker Ikari. Mira seems a bit intimidated by Lizzy...

>Lizzie, Age 17
>Master RAGER. RAGERs are Berserkers who have sold their soul for more power.
>Has an interest in power and glory.
>Is loud and imposing

You have reached age 77. You seem to be having a lot of trouble getting around lately...

Since she didn't really have any stress relieved from your time visiting Lizzie, you only spend a day visiting. The remainder of the month there is spent vacationing in the hot springs on the mountain. This is a bit expensive, but you and Mira feel infinitely relaxed. You feel a lot better, and Mira does too.

>Stress levels significantly reduced!

Feeling much better, the two of you head back home to get back to studies with renewed vigor! Over the next 5 months, Mira gets Etiquette classes from school to try and help with her shyness. You also take her to a few royal parties, again to try and help with the shyness. She spends a bit too much time hiding behind you for your liking, but you think it is helping.

During that time, she also spends more time with the researchers, as well as keeping up with her chemistry.

What's this!? Mira's class is changing!

Mira has become an Apprentice Scholar!
>Mira has obtained Wizard/Chemist hybrid class! It now takes 8 months of study to rank up instead of 6 months, but each rank up increases both her Wizardry and Chemistry abilities one level. Right now, she has the abilities of a rank 2 Wizard and a rank 2 Chemist.
>If you take an Alternate Class, such as Cultist, it will change your class name and abilities. You will still be a hybrid class.
>Scholar Special Ability: Rapid Learning! It takes 10% less time to learn things through study for you than normal! For example, leveling up in Scholar only takes 7 months of study!

It will be Mira's birthday again in 3 more months. My, how time does fly. You also have 2 months' worth of money left.

Well, she's at that age. Might start saving up for one of those... 'female enhancement' pills, should she complain about how she's 'developing'.

If she doesn't, then hey. More cash for living expenses, or for presents.

Since we have no way of extending our lifespan, we should determine exactly when we would die of old age. Then we could prepare the power transfer potion at the last minute. One last gift. Be sure to leave a little bit of buffer time just in case.

Let's expand Mira's wardrobe some more and get her a SWEET HAT, and perhaps some BEAUTY SUPPLIES. Or a MAGICALLY ENCHANTED ROBE for better combat protection?

Also: Mira should regularly spend time in the Research job. We should encourage that crush she has on the cute guy.

Can it be more adventure tiems now? Arrange for everyone to meet us in the Desert, this time. Um, except Lizzie. When, though...? Let's have Mira study for another 3 months.

Well, you know the drill. We need money to pay for more schooling. We're getting a bit too old to rip through tournaments wantonly now, and Mira's not quite skilled enough to do it, so adventuring seems like our best bet.

Actually, I might suggest we send her off with just Flint this time. Without direct supervision, again. The one-on-one would force her to interact with Flint a little -- she knows Flint a bit by now so it won't be completely horrible, but she still hangs back enough that it'll be good for her. We can stick to Moderate or Easy locations as before, to compensate for the lack of party members.
It might even give her the confidence to talk to that cute researcher boy.

AND THEN MORE SCHOOLING!

>>175467
Yeah, this sounds like it'd be best. And while she's there, maybe we could ask her to question Flint for if he's ever heard of the alternate class for Fighters? ...Then again, from the looks of the alernate classes for wizards and berserkers... I'm starting to get the feeling the alternate classes might all be dark in nature, so we should be careful.

As for a birthday present... Hmm... Perhaps a LIBRARY or BOOKS or something like that? Maybe to help with research, science, learning about the world, and such? Still, the MAGICALLY ENCHANTED ROBE for combat protection is also a pretty good idea. Squishy wizard (Scholar?) and all that.

new robe is a good gift idea. and yea an easy adventure with just flint sounds like a good idea to overcome her shyness...

and I'd thought we'd already ruled out power transfer potions as it would rob us of our last year and her of the experience of gaining her own?
>>
No. 175536 ID: e3f578

Hhhrrmm, she doesn't have a female role model in her life. That's important... any idea where to get one? I doubt flexing our brain muscles to attract a mate is a good idea this late in his life and she's too old for a nanny.

Is there a master purple sorceress/scholar in the area?

New robe design should be similar to the old one, same colors and maybe a little more detailed. Or just a nice MAGIC HAT.

Or do scholars have their own sort of traditional dress?

Let's stay over in the Green Kingdom for a while. Mrs. Ranger could teach Mira the ways of the woman. And we could teach William about how silly Bards are, when blowing stuff up is clearly more useful than status buffs that wear off after anyways.

You know... a momentary trade off wouldn't hurt...
Mainly cause Mrs. Ranger has a boy
And we have a girl

And we would like Mira to learn how to be a girl for a while. We have been pushing training more than we've been pushing... well... social stuff...

Girl needs some charisma. (though, I guess with enough training, she COULD just make a love potion or something...)

No. 175675 ID: 2c47db

A scholar would be the best bet, if we can find one willing to take her under her wing. I doubt Ms Ranger would really have that much to offer her as far as training, even for non class related things.

That's... one way to do things. Hardly the healthiest though. She'd be better off making potions of confidence, or perhaps just some cosmetics.
