Lavender Fire Song
0ba437
There are a couple of empty benches on the platform, but you decide to start your journey by making a new friend. She scoots to the side to make room as you approach.
“Hey,” you say as you take a seat, “I didn’t expect there to be anyone else up this early for the train.”
“Me either,” she says back.
You sit together in silence, your breath rising in soft clouds in the cold air. The sun slowly begins to creep above the dark hills and trees, casting golden rays on the land.
“What uh, where are you headed? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“Grand Station. Got some stuff to drop off and pick up. Same reason I’m here in Lichen Shores.”
“Oh, right on. I’m going past the station. I’m headed to Spool.”
She raises an eyebrow. “Spool, huh? You visiting one of the towns or…?”
You briefly explain your task. She nods somewhat solemnly. “Well, you gotta do what seems best, but uh, I guess you don’t need me to tell you how dangerous the mountain is.”
“Yeah, I-I know.”
More silence.
